In all honesty, this review is from a visit from a few months ago, but I feel like it still stands. I stopped by here with my friend on a Saturday was seated within ~5 minutes. The Horst and wait staff were super friendly, attentive, and helpful! I don't remember what drinks or dishes I ordered (shrimp rice bowl, poke appetizer?), but both were delicious and well seasoned! We stumbled on Tiki Tom's by accident this weekend, walking between the parking garage and our genius bar appointment at Apple. The building's exterior is evocative in its nonchalance, with Hawaiian details that hint at something special. Walking in later, our intuition was confirmed. Me and a friend got a drink here tonight and she ordered a tequila with soda. Without asking the waiter served her top shelf tequila that costs $30! I didn't wanna be a jerk and make her feel bad in front of the waiter but the more I think about it the more upset I am. I'm a bartender myself and that's just not how you do it. I would love if someone reaches out to me and offers a refund. Update: The manager reached out immediately, apologized for the confusion, and made things right. BEWARE: My husband went with his friend for a couple drinks to celebrate his birthday. We then noticed a large charge on our credit card account. The bartender added an $84 TIP ON the $64 BILL!!! There was also an additional $30 after the fact in our bank statement! The manager apologized and just credited back the $84 tip and $30 charge, but nothing else was done and had we not double checked the charge the server would have gotten away with it. Unfortunately, the food was really subpar. My poke had way more cucumbers and veggies than actual tuna, and the flavor was overly sweet. My girlfriend's loco moco was on the saltier side and lacked the richness you'd expect from a good loco moco. For the prices they charge, I was expecting a lot more from the food quality. Overall, I'd only come back here for the drinks and atmosphere. So I was walking around Broadway with my family for some post-Christmas sale shopping last weekend... And as I walked over to Barnes and Noble to meet up with my dad, what should I stumble upon but a cute little tiki bar and restaurant tucked in the middle of the block? I suggested grabbing a mai tai while we waited for the ladies in our family to finish shopping, and ended up having a fantastic meal and experience there! Tiki Tom's gives you the full-on tiki experience from the get-go. You enter through a large wooden door, and are immediately transported to a tropical paradise inside. All sorts of nautical decor adorn the walls and ceilings, with cozy lighting illuminating every corner of the restaurant. You can either sit at the bar for a drink from their extensive cocktail menu, or get seated for a full meal. We ended up doing both! For drinks, we had the mai tais and painkillers. Both were excellent - the mai tai, as they explained to us, was a more traditional mai tai that was more spirit-forward and less fruity (which we loved). And the painkiller had a delightfully frothy, coconutty flavor that tasted like a quintessential tropical island drink. On the food front, I had the honey walnut shrimp, and LOVED both the texture and flavor. The others with me had smashburgers and the mochiko chicken, and everyone loved their meals as well. There wasn't a single thing we ordered that we didn't like! Throughout our stay, service was friendly and helpful, and there was a great buzz of energy inside - people were talking, laughing, and seemed to be having as great a time as we were. I'm only giving two stars because of the incredible staff and how pleasant and attentive they were. We came to Tiki Tom's to celebrate my son's 18th birthday and had made a reservation for 14 people. When we arrived, we were greeted and told that most of our party needed to be present before we could be seated -- which was completely reasonable and not a problem at all. The hostess informed us that the table reserved for us was currently occupied by another party but that they were going to move them. No big deal. We waited about 15 minutes near the hostess stand while the rest of our group arrived. After several polite check-ins, we were told that the party still hadn't gotten up and she apologized again. I asked if everything was okay since we had a reservation and even offered to speak to the group myself if needed. That's when she quietly told me, "Unfortunately, it's the owner's wife." At that point it became very clear that reservations don't matter if the owner's family decides to stay as long as they want. What made this even more disappointing was the behavior of that group. They were heavily intoxicated and extremely inconsiderate, fully aware that a large party was waiting for the table. There was zero courtesy shown and no urgency from management to respect a reservation made for a milestone family celebration. The staff handled this as professionally as they could, and I truly appreciate their kindness. But being forced to wait indefinitely because the owner's wife and her friends wouldn't leave -- and were clearly in no condition to care -- completely ruined what should have been a special evening. Very disappointing experience and a serious lack of consideration and professionalism at the management/ownership level. Needless to say, we will never be returning. read more

Had a Mai Tai which was not good. Our server must have forgot about us, so I had to flag somebody down to help us. No one ever asked if we were doing, OK? We were completely invisible.
