So happy there is an Indian restaurant now on Austin street in Forest Hills, NYC. My mom and I went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in April and we decided to do the outdoor dinning. They have comfortable, decorative and social distancing tents outside. I totally like how they decorated the tents with flowers inside - it compliments Spring 2021. They keep everything clean and immediately wipe down/sanitized the menus, tables and chairs. That definitely made us feel more comfortable. They have a variety of entrees you can choose from and I really liked their vegetarian selection. We ordered vegetable samosas for appetizer. Our order came with two large samosas I think that's perfect to share with a party of two. Totally dig their samosas, it was crunchy on the outside and flavorful inside. Yummy! For entree we ordered the mild lamb curry which came with a side order of basmati rice. They served large portion. I felt if you were with a party of three and not a big eater you can order one entree and two appetizers and still have room for dessert. Their lamb curry was yummy. The meat was tender and had a nice kick to it. It was served with lots of meat. The lamb meat came in the shape of cubes. We also ordered their chicken biryani and only had a few bites. I really enjoyed the spices in this dish. It also came with chuck of tender chicken meat. They served a good balance of rice and meat. I took the remaining food home for dinner since I couldn't finish it. And they now give you containers to pack your food up instead of them doing it. I think it has to do with COVID. Mom and I ate so much. We also ordered Gulab Jamun for appetizer. Yummy! You could tell it was fresh cause it was still hot (heat wise). And we loved their mango lassis. They served big portion! This is three times now that I've ordered Lamb Rogan Josh delivered from this restaurant. Every single time there's barely any meat. As of this last time, there were, literally, five little cubes of lamb and the entire container was all just sauce. We (non-Indians) have been on the lookout for a new go-to indian place ever since Masala in Woodside closed down. We came here on a Monday night to give it a try. I do suggest weeknights as parking in Forest Hills can be a nightmare. We were the only table dining in but there were plenty of takeout orders going out. Service was still attentive by an older gentleman who wore gloves the entire time - especially appreciated when handling our plates and silverware! We started out with some complimentary crispy chip-like snacks that came with a couple of sauces that really shined. These were tamarind and a minty green sauce that tasted better here than it does elsewhere. The veggie samosas we got were also good. Both the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were made with white meat chicken that looked Like it came off a skewer (aka grill?) but were a bit dry although the sauces saved them. The tikka masala sauce was a bit on the sweet side. Free water was also super chilled and enjoyable! Overall we would come back if we crave indian and didn't know where else to go. Trying a new spot after some drinks with friends. Food: everyone was pretty pleased with what they ordered. Some of the food was very spacy so make sure you ask about spice levels. I ordered the Chala masala with garlic naan. It was yummy. Not as flavorful as other places I've ordered and the spice builds so take you time eating but it was good. There was more i tried from friends we kind of ate family style and shared meals. Wasn't always sure what i was eating inlet friends order for the table. Wow, wow, wow! This is the best Indian food I have had in a long time. Normally I don't enjoy take-out Indian because I always feel portions are smaller and it's never as good at home. Tikka n Talk has turned my opinion around. I arrived to pick-up my order a little early. The dining room once they can use it fully is quite nice and they do have a couple of tables outside. The women manning the front desk and phones were very pleasant and friendly. Their menu has a lot of options and offers just about everything you'd want when craving Indian food. Arriving home, I couldn't wait to rip the bag open. We started off with the Lasooni Gobhi which is crispy cauliflower with a tomato-garlic chili sauce and it is fabulous. Completely addicting, we were off to such a great start, I forgot all about taking pictures of anything else..oops. The Chicken Tikka Masala is an excellent version, the sauce is flavorful with a hint of spice and the chicken was so tender and no dry overcooked chicken to be found. The Goat Curry was equally good. The goat itself was not at all gamy, it was so tender and delightful. The Dal Tadka (yellow lentils) were excellent as well. The rice was good and the naan was pillow-y and scrumptious. This meal left me so happy and wanting more. Portion sizes were satisfying and the food was just incredible, as was the service, so run, don't walk to try it out. Very excited that this spot opened up in Forest Hills. We have an over abundance of certain ethnic food and was in dire need of something to break up the monotony. Indian food to the rescue! This is a very welcome addition to Austin Street. Housed on the lower level of the two-story mall type space, it's easy to miss if you don't know it's there. Ordered standard chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and basmati rice. The flavor is outstanding and unlike any tikka masala I've ever tasted. A very rich and hearty sauce, slightly slightly spicy, yet noticeably sweet. The naan is soft and chewy, baked perfectly and is amazing dipped in the masala sauce. Wishing you good luck and success! So glad that there's a new great Indian place in Forest Hills! Was so hungry and started scarfing down the food so quickly that we didn't get a good picture beforehand. We ordered a plain, cheese and garlic naan along with bhel poori, lamb saag wala and paneer makhani. Since they just opened, they currently have 10% off, so make sure you go check them out! We scheduled an order for 7-7:30pm and when we arrived at 7:15pm, it was already ready for us to pickup! The staff were all masked and extremely friendly, immediately recognizing which order we were coming to pick up. In terms of food, the lamb saag wala definitely stood out the most. The soft spinach flavor along with the more flavorful strong lamb was perfect. The meat was tender and easily ripped so you could pick up chunks with naan. The paneer makhani was very creamy and sweet, although the curry texture was very watery. I would have preferred a slightly thicker texture to the curry, but the phenomenal flavor more than compensated. My mom, who never eats paneer makhani, even commented and said it was really good here. The bhel poori was an interesting dish. I've never tried it before, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to taste like. It's a bit sour and has some mushy/ fluffy pieces of potato and puffed rice. It feels a bit like a hodgepodge of random ingredients, but it does taste pretty good and is a nice palette cleanser between curries. The naan were all amazing. The garlic naan was stacked full of garlic and it didn't taste just like a regular naan with a few chunks of minced garlic. The flavor was ingrained in the bread. The cheese naan had plenty of cheese and was also extremely flavorful. My only gripe was that they were pretty small and a bit soggy by the time we got home (we live 15 min away), so if you have a recommendation on how to heat it up or make it less soggy please let me know. Anyways, it's a great new spot that's opened up and I look forward to trying more of their dishes! My cousin recommended the tandoori and said it was very moist and flavorful, so I'll definitely try that next! read more

Very pretty and Instagram-able interior and dishes! Food was very good. The little chips that come out for the table were delicious and I really loved all three sauces. My friend and I came on a Saturday but we didn't go with the brunch menu (which did sound great), we opted for the regular lunch/dinner menu. I got a mango lassi and she got the ginger lemonade. The lassi was great but we didn't like the lemonade as much. For appetizers, she got lamb kebabs and I got the pani puri shots. The kebabs had great flavor and were pretty filling. I liked them with the squeeze of lemon and I tried them with one or two of the sauces from the chips. Loved that. The pani puri shots were so fun! Definitely would order them again! Mains, she got fish curry and I got the tandoori salmon. I preferred the salmon, it was perfectly cooked and had such great flavor. Was a little bummed it didn't come with rice (for 24 dollars), but we did order a side of naan. We also split the tikka special for dessert and I absolutely loved that. I chatted with a few Indian men who lives in my area and I was curious which restaurant in the neighborhood do the real Indians eat at. They said this is their favorite place so I decided to give it a try. I dined in with 3 of my kids and ordered 4 entrees. The Goan Shrimp Curry was really delicious. The second best dish was Dal Makhani. The other 2 dishes were OK: Murgh Vindaloo and Shrimp Biryani. My kids said they enjoyed this place but they still prefer the more modernized Indian restaurant that we normally go to. I agree with them but I will return just to get the Goan Shrimp Curry dish to go and try other dishes. Very good Indian food with a beautiful ambiance. Complimentary papad poppadoms (rice flour chips) are served for everyone once you're seated. We started with the pani puri shots- loved the presentation. The samosa chaat was delicious. For entrees- we stuck to the classics such as biryani and butter chicken because we had huge cravings of it. Sometimes you're just tired of homemade you know? The butter chicken was rich and creamy, very good with the garlic naan. The biryani was amazing as well. Their drinks were refreshing as well! We had the mango lassi and strawberry mocktail. Pretty amazing find in FH. First time here so I ordered the typical Chicken tikka masala. The chicken in the tikka masala was so juicy, tender and flavorful. You can taste the nice charred flavor from the clay oven. The sauce is sweeter than other places but it still tasted pretty good over rice. I tried Malai Kofta yrs ago from an Indian market since then I order it whenever I find a good restaurant. Tikka adds dried fruit to the dumplings which adds a really nice texture. So delicious. Other places the filling is so mushy. Loved the sauce also..the basmati rice was so fragrant... We usually get Indian food in JH but I love the care they took in making the ingredients stand out here. I think the flavors are perfectly fine. Better than many places in the city. I have wanted to try this place since they opened and I'm mad I waited as long as I did. I decided to pick up the chicken vindaloo lunch special which was like $14 I think? Whatever it was it was well worth it! You get a huge portion of rice and flavorful chicken, a side of daal, a GIANT golub jamun and a large piece of naan. Decided to take my grandma out for food, she wanted Indian. So I looked a place within distance and boy was I happy choose this spot. The fish curry was to die for and the chicken tikka was good! I do wish I ordered the chicken tikka more spicy, but besides that it was the perfect place to hit when in the mood for authentic Indian. I also got mango lassi and chicken Samoa's , sooo good! Great Indian cuisine in this neighborhood. Not just the usual Indian dishes but i love how they added some great entrees as well. Fresh ingredients and authentic. Good service as well. My go to are the fried cauliflower appetizer. It's a sweet and hot flavor that reminds me of sweet and sour pork. Almost like fusion. Crispy outside and a nice veggie inside. The shrimp Goan curry is also outstanding. Nice spice, good curry flavor. The eggplant dish as well was a good entre. Top it off with the spinach and cheese dish saag paneer you make a great meal. The food here is really good! I'm not an expert on Indian food by any means, but I can tell you it's delicious here and I loved that there were so many vegetarian options. We tried the Dahi Sev Poori to start and it was so delicious we wanted more, although the serving was very generous! For entrees I had the Malai Kofta, which was a new dish for me. The server asked if I wanted it a little spicy or a lot. I went with a little and that was perfect for me. You'll definitely want to order some naan to accompany this dish, as I had plenty left for dipping after eating the dumplings with rice. My husband had the lamb curry and he was very happy with it. I ordered a masala chai and realized a) I should have waited until after dinner to order it because it came with delicious butter cookies b) I probably should have added some sugar as it was quite strong, and I realized the chai I'm getting at other places is probably pre-sweetened. The server asked if I wanted it right away or after dinner so I should have taken the hint there. The decor is very modern and warm but feels a bit unfinished. The servers and host were lovely but seemed a little stressed and it took some time for our entrees to come out. I've noticed a lot of places on Austin St. seem to open when they're not 100% ready for show time and I certainly can't blame them with the cost of rent in the neighborhood and the pandemic. I was extremely excited for this restaurant to open as we desperately needed a good Indian restaurant in Forest Hills. I was incredibly disappointed. I can't even give more than 2 stars. The order came quickly so that is one star and I really liked their green sauce so that adds the other star. Otherwise, I have never had such tasteless Indian food. We ordered the garlic naan and it didn't even taste like there was garlic in it. I had read a previous review that it was very garlicky and I would have preferred that. My husband said he was able to taste a hint of it. I ordered my go-to Indian dish, Tandoori Chicken and it was tasteless. Also, chicken tandoori is usually red as a result of the spices and not food dye like the response to this review and this was white like normal chicken. No spices at all except dark green lettuce shavings. You can see in my photos. I am used to the Indian food places in Hicksville and this was no where near the caliber. I tried putting sauce on it but I couldn't finish one piece. The garlic naan was tasteless, like cardboard and the regular naan tasted stale. It also came to us ice cold so we had to then heat up. My husband ordered what is usually my next go-to Indian dish, chicken tikka masala and that also attributed to one star. It was decent, but very far from the best I have had. It was edible unlike the tandoori chicken. I hate writing such a horrible review for a new place, but I have to be honest when writing. I really thought this would be delicious because there are so many great reviews but my husband and I were not impressed. We decided to try this new spot in Forest Hills. We love Indian and hoped this would good addition to the area. The food we had tells us it is. We tried their garlic naan, samosas, chicken tikka masala, murgh biryani, and chili chicken. One of the problems with some Indian food is that it's painfully spicy. This had heat but not too much. Every dish was flavorful. We thought we had bought too much food but we ended up eating it all because it was so good. One thing I really appreciate about this place is that not only is it super delicious but it sticks to authenticity of Indian cuisine and it's super clean and the presentation of the food is amazing! We ordered two garlic naan, malai chicken tikka, and Lasooni Gobhi. The Lasooni Gobhi is very delicious. I'm surprised you can make cauliflower this tasty. Definitely recommend this dish to anyone who likes or don't like cauliflower. However, the other dishes are pretty disappointing. The garlic naan is bland and very hard to chew. And the malai chicken Tikka is also very bland and basic. This order experience is such a let down because I was very excited we finally get a Indian restaurant so close to us. One negative thing was when i approached the lady at the cashier to bring up the negative points about little things, like the dish scooping spoons left on the table instead of putting them in the dis itself, like bringing the water bottle to the table but not filling the customers empty glass and so on, I was brushed off with the most idiotic justification..." This place has an amazing murgh (chicken) biryani. The portion size is really good on this dish. The flavors in the biryani are fantastic. In addition to the biryani, I order the chicken samosa. This is also really good. There are 2 very large samosas in the order and they are very good as well. My wife has ordered the brunch omelet dish and cheese naan from them and agrees that the food is very good.
