First time in Irvine and discovered that the Diamond Jamboree plaza was a thing! The Tim Ho Wan franchise has a special place in my heart and ran here as soon as I saw it! Good food, good service! Almost forgot how much all this added up...

This place has the best bbq pork bun filling in all of LA and OC. The buns would be even better without the overly sweet sugary top layer. The rest of their line up is sub par compared to the numerous dim sum restaurants in LA and OC. The Siu mai was soft and fatty. There was no meaty flavor and texture you would expect from biting into Siu mai. Their chicken feet had an off taste that made me unable to finish a whole piece. Price was also on the expensive side. Every thing pictured here was about $115.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was excellent. A special thank you to "Iva" at the front desk, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. She made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived and provided such warm and professional service. Great food, great service, and wonderful hospitality. We truly enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back again! Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed our experience at Tim Ho Wan in Irvine, especially after their recent renovation. The restaurant looks fresh, modern, and inviting, while still keeping the traditional dim sum feel. The food was very good, and I can see why Tim Ho Wan is famous in Hong Kong! The dim sum was flavorful and nicely prepared. A special shout-out to Leo, who provided 5-star service! He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcomed. His excellent service really made the experience even better. Overall, a great place to enjoy Hong Kong-style dim sum in Irvine. We'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Tim ho wan. I haven't been back since they first opened. Which wasn't a great experience. This time after the remodel. Very good Black mushroom and cucumber. Excellent make sure you get this. Perfect amount of citrus. So good refreshing Buns. Everyone already knows. Get this. The best Tofu. Wow best fried tofu I ever had. Really really good All the dim sum was good. Fresh. And service was on point. My go to spot now

The best dish of the night was the red rice rolls! They were so unexpectedly delicious with the best texture I could have imagined! The friend rice was good, like traditional fried rice, nothing extra special but always a consistently good dish. The barbecue pork was very fatty and hard to chew but it had great flavor. LOVED the spicy wontons and Siu Mai. You order all your food from a QR code on your phone and personally for me, this dropped a star because when I go out to eat with anyone I prefer not having phones out and having face to face conversations. I think this unfortunately drops the customer services bc really we did half the work. That being said, when our servers did come by they were all kind.

Service: Everyone was attentive! All the servers is very friendly and easy to catch their attention. Ambiance: We felt like the tables are a little too close to each other but we were seated by the front so that was not really an issue for us. Beautiful interior though! Food is good! Out of everything we ordered, the ones we enjoyed the most were the crispy shrimp red rice rolls and the pork & shrimp dumplings in hot & spicy sauce. There are definitely better tasting dim sum places with better prices, but the service & the ambience make up for what the food lacks. Will be back again!

I feel bad giving 3 stars but I just felt like the place was way too overpriced for the portions we received. The food was okay, but again, small and unfortunately not flavorful for my liking. A couple tips - the pan fried noodles are not crispy. They're soft. And kinda not seasoned. The pork siomai was pretty good tho so that was redeeming! We came here as a group of four and needed to order A LOT, in order to get a bit full to feel satisfied and it just didn't do it for us. Every time we got our dishes, they lacked serving utensils, and it seemed a bit scattered. Our waiter was nice and patient, we got seated right away, and checking out was not an issue. Mainly because of the food and the price, I don't think I'll be making my way over again. BUT - that's just me. The place was packed so it's clearly very popular! It's a busy restaurant and very clean inside with clean bathrooms. It was pretty loud again, cause there are some large groups. The pork dish was good too. We ended up ordering two of them.

Over the years, it felt like I would hear about Tim Ho Wan every time a family member or friend would come back from Hong Kong. Kind of heady praise in and of itself, given how there are so many great dim sum and Cantonese restaurants there, but even more so considering the standard some of them have. So, after missing out on my first chance to try them when we were in Hawaii, it was practically a must to stop into this location once we saw that they had finally reopened! Now, I don't know what this place looked like before their year-plus closure for their remodeling/change of ownership, but the decor looks great - "Chinese modern", as someone described it, and cozy. More notably, I appreciated how new and clean everything still felt. As for the menu, my gf mentioned it looked different than she remembered from her trip to the Tim Ho Wan in NY, but their most popular items, like their Crispy Shrimp Red Rice Roll and Baked BBQ Pork Buns, were still listed. Even beyond those two, though, which sounded awesome, there were a number of other dishes that caught my eye. -- PORK & SHRIMP DUMPLINGS (SIU MAI) Ehh...not bad, but nothing special either. The siu mai was decently sized, juicy, and had a nice balance of pork and shrimp flavors. That being said, for the money, nothing about this felt all that different or unique. -- CRISPY SHRIMP RED RICE ROLL WITH ROSELLE SAUCE Besides their signature Baked BBQ Pork Buns, I was most excited to try this and it didn't disappoint! The shrimp was crispy and meaty while the rice noodles had a tender bite. The roselle sauce added a bit of fruity sweetness, but these were great on their own. -- PORK & SHRIMP DUMPLINGS IN HOT & SPICY SAUCE SCALLION NOODLE Not too shabby, but definitely more solid than spectacular. The overall portion size was relatively generous and the dumplings were so plump and juicy. That being said, while the sauce had a nice kick, it made the noodles, which were a touch overcooked, feel really oily. -- STEAMED FISH FILLET WITH GINGER & SCALLION SOY SAUCE This is kind of a simple dish, but it was no less delicious. The coloring was a little pale (all of the soy ran off of it), but I loved that the fish was deboned and super moist and flakey. Delicious! -- FRIED TOFU WITH SEAWEED On the plus side, the tofu itself was good and I liked how crispy the batter was. However, I wish the seaweed was incorporated into the batter instead of just sprinkled on top, as some of the pieces tasted pretty plain. -- SIGNATURE BAKED BARBEQUE PORK BUN Easy to see why this is their signature dish - this was our favorite thing we had! The buns were soft while the topping was crusty (in a good way) and had a sweet, buttery flavor to it. As for the filling, it was really meaty and had just the right amount sauce to it. While the food was actually pretty decent, what really dragged down the experience for us was the service. Granted, we came here not long after they reopened, but we're talking months afterwards, not days, so it was weird how they had so many "new restaurant" issues. For example, they gave us plastic water cups and disposable chopsticks because they had run out of clean ones and they also told us to scan the QR code because they didn't have any physical menus even though we saw (and took) two that were sitting on a counter nearby. Plus, our order came out extremely staggered - a long delay before the first arrived, followed by a gap before the next two, then the last two, and then another delay before we got our highly anticipated pork buns. Given how I had heard so much about Tim Ho Wan before coming here, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little underwhelmed by our experience. Even though their famed Baked BBQ Pork Buns may have hit the mark (and then some), they weren't enough to offset how uneven the other parts of our meal went (not to mention how long it took). At some point, I'd actually like to come back, as there are other dishes on the menu that looked promising, but I certainly hope they have everything smoothed out from their relaunch by then. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

Overall, the wait time for a Saturday wasn't bad at all! We were a party of 2 and only waited about 15-20 minutes. Service was great, and the food came out pretty quickly. Definitely recommend the BBQ buns and crispy shrimp rolls -- both were so good! We also tried the shu mai and large sticky rice, and everything was delicious. If you're a big chicken fan, definitely try the ginger scallion chicken rice. It's similar to Hainan chicken rice, but has more of a comforting, home-style flavor. Super simple but really satisfying! The only appetizer I probably wouldn't order again is the plum tomato. If you're a big plum lover, you might enjoy it, but it was very juicy and heavily marinated for my taste. Overall, really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back!

I think the last time I've been here was when they first opened and wow feels like they've renovated the interior since then and added some new menu items! Our favorite item was the Crispy Shrimp Red Rice Roll with Roselle Sauce and their signature baked BBQ bun! Both were so tasty and the texture was perfection. The Pork & Shrimp dumpling in hot and spicy scallion noodle was also flavorful, light and refreshing. David and Katie were our servers and they were so helpful. Food came out quick and they clear tables efficiently.

Tim Ho Wan recently underwent some renovations, so we decided to give it a try. Truthfully I don't even recall how it was before, so we were going in with a clean slate. First off, the interior decor was very pleasant. They had some high quality photos of their dim sum on the walls which hey, I won't be mad at! A lot of waiters to attend to your needs as well. We got a variety of their dim sum offerings: the famous BBQ buns, chinese broccoli, spicy wontons, siu mai, steamed fish fillet, XLB, and the bean curd rolls. I'd say that's a good variety. Everything tasted great! One thing I appreciated was that you could really taste each individual ingredient in their dumplings - they didn't overmix their fillings. I can tell when I'm eating pork and when I'm eating shrimp in the siu mai. The ingredients felt high quality too. My main gripes are the costs... or rather how much you get for the price. They seem to enjoy grouping into threes: 3 siu mai, 3 XLB, 3 buns. Am I the only one that thinks this is an awkward number? Usually people attend restaurants with a partner, or a double date, or a group of 4-6 friends. In any case, I was quite satisfied with my experience and am willing to come by again to try their other offerings! I've been eyeing those crispy shrimp rolls.

Food was served quickly hot and ready! We ordered the baked BBQ pork buns, crispy shrimp red rice rolls, radish cakes, xiao long bao , stir fried rice rolls in XO sauce and the Mango shave ice with grass jelly. I started eating most of them without thinking to take pics of them...they just looked soooo good! The environment was like any dim sum cafe with low music and plenty of conversations going on. It was still easy to converse with my wife. This was on the way to a birthday party later on so it was good to try this on the way. I wonder if they'll open one in San Diego?

Avoid the potstickers -- something was really off with the flavor th3 day I went and I usually don't turn away fried dumplings. Plenty of parking!

Here is what I ordered and how I score the dish with my comments. Sorry I didn't take pictures…read more Each dish has a number. I am not Chinese so take that into consideration. 122 beef soup clear broth - This was a 5/5 - so good we got one too go. The price is good but it is a small portion with just a little meat. It's the broth that tastes so good. 111 noodles with ground pork, sprouts and cucumber 5/5 - I really liked this dish. It's like a Chinese chili on wide noodles. Addictive. Good value too. 139 beef wrap - 3/5 - This is the chinese pancake surrounding overcooked beef that you can get anywhere. Thankfully they didn't use too much cilantro like other places. It was dry. I would not order it again. Needs a sauce too. The vinegar from the table wasn't helping. 137 1000layer pancake - 3/5 This was made fresh and it's puffy! ---probably exactly what it's supposed to be. It, too, needs a special sauce. There just is no flavor by itself. Plus, I only counted 900 layers. Just kidding. I would skip next time. The service here is great. Food comes out fast.

You pay at the register and then find a table to enjoy your meal. I like this approach as they are expected to ask for tip. We came on a weekday lunch and they had $9.99 lunch specials. You choose 2 types of dim and one dessert and one drink (hot or cold tea, soda). If you want better beverages you can get them for an additional charge. My hubby and I ordered their bean curd and pork rib dim sum. Then we also got lotus wrapped sticky rice and bbq pork noodle. Both sets of lunch specials were delicious. Their crescent dumplings were fried to perfection and quite large. Ryan was great in getting us a table and bringing our food to us. Great staff and clean fast casual store. Even their restrooms were clean. Overall a great dining experience.

I decided to give this dim sum spot a try because my cousin said it was pretty good. Overall, I'd…read moregive it about a 3/5. It wasn't terrible, but unfortunately the food quality just wasn't what I expected. We tried a few different items, including the siu mai, shrimp rice noodle rolls, lotus leaf sticky rice, har gow, and egg tarts. The siu mai was probably my least favorite. The filling tasted strange to me and I honestly didn't really enjoy it, there also was like a bone inside the siu mai which made it unpleasant. The lotus leaf sticky rice was also not my favorite because there were some textures and things inside that just didn't seem right to me. The other items were okay, but nothing really stood out. The setup is also very casual and feels more like a food court or quick-service place rather than a traditional sit-down dim sum restaurant, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. For me, it really came down to the taste and quality of the food. I probably wouldn't come back.
