The sampler was primarily chips, not an even portion of variety. The fries and chicken tasted like the fryer needed cleaned. The burger was cooked well, but the mac and cheese was thick and unseasoned. Came here as the line at Paula Deen's was way too long. Large restaurant with plenty of options. We started with the campfire queso (on the menu it says quest, maybe a typo?) and it was tasty with the tortilla chips and pretzel sticks. The star of the meal. I ordered the fried pork chops with white gravy, mashed taters and mac and cheese. The pork was quite dry, the mac and cheese was just okay, and the mashed potatoes were decent. The chicken pot pie was more like a soup with the phyllo crust on top. Wasn't what we were expecting and hardly any chicken. Of the two steaks we ordered, both were severely undercooked. Mine could've walked off of my plate. We stomached one of the steaks, but after a retry on the one steak, of the lady whose anniversary we were celebrating, came back just as raw. Stopped in during a sudden rain storm for a drink and to wait till it passed. We just sat at the bar to relax and have to say the bar top is the coolest one I have ever seen . A row of ice across the entire bar to rest your drink on and keep it cold the entire time was awesome. Staff was decent but a bit slow to get anything done when you would ask. My wife and I decided to eat here after a long day walking around and unfortunately, the food we received was pretty poor quality for the price that we paid. We ordered the fried pickles which came cold and kind of soggy , an order of eight piece wings with the bourbon maple glaze that were overcooked at best and had a gummy texture from the glaze. Long story short I spent $170 for lukewarm, bland food with a dash of extra protein. We had an issue with the food, which initially we were unbothered about. However decided to let the manager know, with the assumption that being a manager they would want to know. There was a fly in the bottom pile of my french fries, dead with legs embedded into the fry, and the manager and general manager (who I later learned was actually not the GM) refused to acknowledge it could have possibly come from their kitchen. They insisted it was a misunderstanding and the fly must have come from outside. I understand that things happen, and that's why initially I was unbothered. But the "customer service" essentially saying we couldn't tell the difference between a fly that came in the window and a fly that was dead, stuck to a pile of fries is insulting. After emailing the company and posting a google review, they still insist it came in through the window, like the entire party has a below average IQ. The fact that the company is really picking this as a hill to die on instead of just saying "hey thanks for letting us know, so sorry that happened" is bizarre. I've been here a few times throughout the years. It's a pretty consistent place. We came the day after Christmas. Of course the Island and the rest of the Smokies was crazy busy. We were seated immediately. I was pretty amazed by that. The restaurant is pretty big. They have a great selection of things. I will say, I got the blackened Salmon. The sauce on the Salmon was tasty, however my Salmon and my Dans salmon was dry. I'm sure it's because they just want to reach 145 degrees for the fish since they don't ask you how you want it cooked. So please keep that in mind when ordering the salmon that it will be on the well done side. The rice that came with it honestly was gross. You can tell it was sitting there for awhile and it really didn't have any seasoning. I only took one taste of it and that was it. Service is pretty quick. It's a great spot. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I used to frequent this restaurant often, as I do like a salad they offer. However, the last time I visited I had a TERRIBLE experience! I went for lunch with a friend and she ordered a Bloody Mary. The celery garnish had dirt on it and was brown on top. She sent it back and it was remade. The second one's celery didn't have dirt on it, but was still brown. My friend still didn't like it. I ordered my usual salad but before I had even taken the first bite, I noticed something brown on my white shirt. I looked down and saw chocolate sauce all over the side of the bowl. So now I'm completely grossed out and I have a brown stain on my BRAND NEW white shirt that I had worn for the first time. Does this place even wash their dish-ware????? I called the server over and explained the situation and all he said was "Do you want me to get you a towel and soda water for your shirt?" When he brought me the towel, it was DIRTY and clearly already used. I finally asked for a manager and explained the situation to him. Instead of apologizing and oh I don't know.... maybe offering me a new salad in a clean bowl, he said "it probably was sitting in the window next to a dessert and got chocolate on it from that. Can I bring you anything else?" I was so dumbfounded, I declined, paid my check (on which a 10% discount had been applied. I would have received that anyway due to being military) and left. I called the next day to speak to the general manager. When I explained what happened, she said "oh yeah I know, I was here. The other manager said he handled it." I'm not sure what they think handling a situation is supposed to look like, but I can assure them it wasn't this. She then proceeds to ask me if I know what my friend said about her drink...... how does this pertain to the chocolate on my salad bowl? She said my friend made a rude comment about how the bartender needed to be retrained. While my friend shouldn't have said that, again, how does this pertain to my dirty salad bowl? She never apologized and the only other thing she said was " I can give you a coupon for the next time you come in" LOL what???? First of all, there will NOT be a next time. My husband and I decided to eat here while visiting 'the Island'. It was about a 45 minute wait which was on a Friday around 8:30pm so that was to be expected. My husband and I shared the 'Buffalo Shrimp' which was eight jumbo Gulf shrimp specially battered and fried golden brown. Tossed in our signature hot sauce. Served with ranch dressing for dipping. It was a good portion and delicious! My husband got the 'Fried Pork chops' for his entrée, which was two hand-breaded boneless pork chops, fried crispy and smothered with your choice of creamy white gravy or our scratch-made brown gravy. Topped with fried onion straws. Served with mashed taters and your choice of side. He said it was very good. I got the 'Strawberry Chicken Salad' for the entrée which was bourbon glazed grilled chicken breast sliced thin and served over fresh farmers market greens with sliced strawberries, caramelized pecans and bleu cheese crumbles. Accompanied by a side of honey vinaigrette dressing. This was very fresh, good portion for both entrees and hit the spot. Our server was VERY busy so a little slow but still good service overall.
