Stopped by Time Square while in town and tried the happy hour pizza. WOW after going here for years and ordering pastas, breakfast, and lunches I had never ordered their pizza. Today was the day and it was delicious. They make their pizza dough from scratch. And it is delicious the sauce and cheese were great the flavor of the pizza sauce was fantastic. I will for sure be back for another pizza. Thanks for the great service, the nice cold beer, and the nice neighborhood vibe!

We ate there last night, which was a monday. We sat at the bar. Our bartender Shay was great and her drinks were well balanced and so tasty. Her service and drinks 5 star. I had the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, my dining partner had spaghetti and we took home a dish to go that we dropped off to our son that was lasagna, ravioli and Rigatoni. The food tasted really good but unfortunately all 3 of us got violently ill. We are positive it was the food because we don't live together for it to have been a bug. We ate our food in the restaurant from 5-6 pm. We got sick after midnight. Our son ate his food after he got off work at 6 am this morning and he is now getting sick, same symptoms, both ends. I'd go back and just have a drink made by Shay but we will unfortunately pass on the food.

The food was very tasty and big portions! We enjoyed both pasta dishes we ordered, very flavorful. I wish the pasta was served a bit al dente. It was a little over cooked but the sauce and chicken was delish. The decor is lacking but the food was great!

Just like my grandmas neighbor fresh off the boat used to make. The Italian platter is a lot of food but very very good. The sauce makes it. The Giovanni w sausage and chicken was excellent and very rich. The garlic bread is not to be missed.

What a yummy home feel Italian restaurant. Definitely has a NYC feel from the minute you walk in. The atmosphere is casual and just the right size of booths, tables and a very impressive bar area. Onto the food. The Ceasars salad was not overwhelmed with dressing and allowed the lettuce and croutons do the flavor work. Then, the New Zeland mussels in a white garlic sauce were awesome. So much flavor and a very nice portion size. I got full halfway through eating my meatballs so got a box to go. They are so fresh with the fresh mozzarella and sauce with veggies. Mama Mia and Yummy all around.

ABSOLUTELY one of the best pasta dishes I have eaten in YEARS!! Everything was ON POINT... The sauce in the Pasta Giovanni is indescribable = YOU HAVE TO TRY IT YOURSELF!! The service was friendly, quick & professional! Ambiance was casual & relaxing! Looking forward to coming back & making my way through this ENTIRE menu

I went to this place on a whim looking at some of the reviews. I found the place to be fairly small and seating was very limited. Staff was generally nice and welcoming. The food was okay. Most of the stuff had spicy taste to it. I was looking for a little bit more body in the sauce that they have on their pasta.

When Times Square was on Union Hills, it was a favorite, so we decided to try the Deer Valley version. We were not disappointed. It's not very big and the décor is not very memorable, but the food is. My chicken was moist and delicious. My husband's seafood was varied and tasted fresh. There is a lengthy menu, and portions are large (I took home half) . Watching the steaming plates come out of the kitchen gave us ideas of what to order on our next visit. It was loud. It was busy. Service was great, and so was the food. My chicken was just as good the next day when I reheated it for lunch. Good food. Good prices. There is something on the menu to please even the pickiest.

The few times i've been here the food has always been consistently good (especially the pasta - their sauces are so good!) But the service is always even better. Great local Italian place in the area :)

Ask the Community - Times Square – Deer Valley

    Can I order food please?

    Yes.

Do you have gluten free pasta?

    Yes they do offer GF

Are they wearing masks and social distancing?

Not yesterday, just good food .

Do they sell wine and or do they have a corking fee?

They do offer wine, but mostly unimpressive California wines. Disappointing selection of Italian wines for an Italian restaurant. I go for the super-fresh sauces and the variety of dishes, not for the wine.

I visited the restaurant for the first time on Mother's Day with my mom and we had the loveliest time. The service was excellent, the ambiance was so nice with acoustic live music that created the best vibe. We loved the food too, we ordered the Italian chopped salad and it was great along with plenty of delicious freshly baked bread. For dinner, we ordered the Butternut Squash Sacchetti pasta with frangelico cream sauce and almond dust, and it was delicious. But the dish you must try here is the Mafalde Norcina - a ruffled ribbon pasta with wild mushroom, sausage ragu and truffle cream. This dish was so packed with flavor, I finished every last bite and it's a really good size portion. There's a nice large bar and bar area along with plenty of parking. My two favorite dishes that never miss are the Lasagna and the Chicken Parm. Like clockwork, it has always been impeccable. Sadly my most recent experience will likely be my last experience. I ordered the Chicken Parm and when it came out there was something missing from my plate. Instead of the usual Rigatoni Pasta with Vodka Sauce there were a couple of stale chunks of potatoes and some sorry looking asparagus spears. I asked the bartender where is the pasta. She responded that it no longer comes with pasta and that I could order some at an additional charge. It was at that moment that I knew I would never return again. Never in my entire life have I ever ordered Chicken Parm at an Italian Restaurant and not have it come with pasta. That is like ordering a hamburger and it doesn't come with a bun. Then they tell you that you are more than welcome to order a bun at an additional cost. It was like the ultimate slap in the face. I understand that businesses are under financial pressure in these tough times. I can assure you though that this restaurant does not suffer from this fate. There is simply zero excuse for this type of behavior from ownership. Their meals are already priced near the top of the market here in Scottsdale, and rightfully so as their food is top tier. But to raise prices and then remove a staple item off of the menu is asinine. Again, I really do not like writing negative reviews for businesses because I am a fellow business owner as well. However the consumer in me cannot stand for this type of treachery. I am sick and tired of paying more and getting less. This is not meant to deter others from experiencing this place. It is meant to let management that loyal customers are dissatisfied with their business practices. Finally, I am not a cheapskate either. I always tip at least 30% which is way above the average. I am not tone-deaf, I sympathize with restaurant staff and wage gaps so every little bit helps in the service industry.

That misconception disappeared immediately upon stepping through the doorway. Warm, inviting ambiance, full of character. Attending the birthday celebration for an esteemed young man, our table wasn't ready (we were early) and the hostess offered us seats at the bar while awaiting our party. We each had a wine spritzer... may I say that the very few such concoctions I've had bearing that name didn't do justice to what we were served. I've never had anything like this, a "Sgroppino" (I'm partial to strawberry!) and it was perhaps the best adult beverage I've had in a very long time. Many different nuances in a glass. Stunning subtle, many diverse flavors. Mmm. Our bartender was an artist of the mixed adult beverage, a delightful individual with a warm, genuine smile and an encyclopedic knowledge of how to do his job expertly. Rare that you meet someone like this who isn't all measuring cups and shot glasses: everything he concocted was done by eye, and judging by what he made for us, his expertise was immediately apparent. Ben fatto. È andata benissimo, brava. When we'd all arrived, we were escorted to the "garden shed"... a smaller out-building filled with racks of wine, perhaps an ideal place for small wedding receptions or engagement parties. Well-cooled despite our broiling Phoenix evening. We had the garlic bread; someone ordered IL Tagliere, Calamari (no, thank you), and a basket of bread. You know how you go to a hamburger joint and what you're served looks nothing like the photos of their menu? Go to CiBO's web site and look at their menu: What you see in their photos is what you get. One visit and next time you look at their menu online, you'll salivate. Yes, the food is that good. I ordered the calzone. Delicious. Getting through it wasn't pretty... but it was excellent. Huge, very generous entree. Excellent flavors. Our server was delightful, attentive without being a nuisance. Our water glasses never reached empty, and the stories about the birthday boy (and others) were never interrupted. We never made it to desserts. Too much food and amusing stories. CiBO: È andata benissimo, brava.

An extra treat was that they have bottles of spicy oil on the tables, so I was able to enjoy the crusts by slathering them with the tasty oil as though they were breadsticks. On the way out, after mentioning to the bartender how good the oil was, I was gifted a couple of condiment cuplets to-go, which was a thoughtful and nice touch and sort of made up for the server who wasn't particularly warm or informative as I had to ask about the specials and whether or not all the pasta is freshly made, etc. Heck, if you have a great selling point like homemade pasta, talk it up and get us to drooling! There is a variety of seating available, including outside and at the bar--bar has an inside section as well as outside which is a nice design for the lovely weather days. However, it's unfortunate that the outdoor seating is on such a busy traffic corner, so it's not the little retreat it would otherwise be. The lunchtime music was more like happy hour music, not conducive to conversation--maybe for the cellphones-at-the -table crowd it's okay, but being near the Phoenix Art Museum and Arizona Opera, why not add to the cultural experience of the area by celebrating its Italian origins with some Italian music? Even if just added as interludes during every few pieces, it would enhance the ambiance. We had to raise our voices to carry on our conversation, but it was manageable. However, when I came back the next week with a friend with a hearing impairment, it became more problematic. She tried adjusting her hearing aids, but the thumping rhythm kept taking precedence as we tried to find a quieter corner, but it wasn't possible as it is a small space and speakers were close to each table. I felt so bad that she couldn't enjoy a meal there--we both were so looking forward to having a fresh pasta dish, but just couldn't stay. Upon leaving, I felt I should let management know why so I waited to speak to him, offering constructive criticism about the sound level but he was not the least apologetic nor said he would take it under advisement, but was completely dismissive and harrumphy as though we were annoying problems and not potential regulars with suggestions worthy of consideration. How hard would it be to have a quieter area or make a speaker accessible with volume control? People, whether on the spectrum, with hearing impairments, or just lovers of good conversation deserve respect and when it is not given, will go elsewhere....
