I called this shop out of the scores of others listed in the Bay Area because of its name: Times Up Termite (it's pretty coo!). I ended up choosing them among the 3 bids I received because of Edgar, the inspector's, thoroughness and knowledge. John, the technician, was equally outstanding, including his skill, courtesy and respectfulness as he worked on the termites and fungus issues throughout my house. Highly recommend. read more

Fortunately for me, they cancelled the job. But not before they drilled 20 test holes around the building, and did some bad patching on most of those holes, and tried to push through a rushed job without fully scoping the project with me. First, I agreed to some test holes (which turned out to be unnecessary to treat the actual infestation -- since subterranean termites just get treated at the ground soil level). Anyhow, there was also TONS of miscommunication along the way -- lots of cooks in the kitchen to deal with at Times Up (I spoke with 6 different people in just a few days). After the test holes were done, I was waiting on the report to update the scope. I still hadn't received it the night before the scheduled termite treatment job was supposed to begin (which I was told that work would be completed in 1 day). So, the team told me let's postpone to make sure we're all on the same page before any work is done. Great, I agreed. However, the manager Mike, did not agree, and was more concerned that he had two guys scheduled to work the next day. So he tried to push through the scheduled work, when the scope was still up in the air. He was less concerned with ensuring the job met expectations, and more concerned with his bottom line. His team on the other hand wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page and happy. Well, then i get an updated scope, quoting an additional $3,295, which said: "FINDING: Test holes through the stucco were installed at locations around the structure. The substructure sheeting and external deck stair system framing is damaged by fungus where indicated by the diagram. This condition is due to construction detail of the stair/deck system. RECOMMENDATION: Remove damaged stair trim as practical. Treat infected areas with Tim-Bor, a registered fungicide, according to label instructions. Stucco disturbed exterior area and paint areas of repair to match existing as close as possible. An exact match is not guaranteed. Should damage extend into inaccessible areas a supplemental report will be issued." $3295 for that. Well, I got a licensed contractor out there to review this "recommendation" that was supposedly going to cost me another $3295, and the licensed contractor said it was COMPLETELY unnecessary. The area only required a minor repair, and it wouldn't take long to complete. When I questioned the need for this work, and the pricing, Times Up Termite cancelled the project. Great! We are on the same page. Except.... Before paying their invoice for the test holes ($585), I decided to check the patches to make sure they were complete. Well, I could have done better patching myself. They didn't even bother to level them, or try to make them blend in at all. Take a look at the pics. When I emailed them a handful of pics showing them the sub-par work, their guy went back out to fix the patches. Which I appreciated -- except that he only fixed the ones "at the front of the building." So...that's like 4 - 6 holes out of 20. Fine, I'll deal with fixing the rest myself. Luckily for me, after these guys cancelled their work, I got another bid and it was 20% lower than these guys for the same scope. Too bad I'm still left with 20 unnecessary test holes around the building, most with crappy patchwork. Unfortunately for me, I paid $585 for unnecessary test holes and a crappy patch job. read more

Did not do a thorough inspection. Inspector stuck his head in the attic and then told me I had to have planks - which they would charge me - installed before doing the inspection. Did not go under the house either. Terminiex and Ppantet Orange went into the attic and under the house. They wanted to nickel and dime me before giving me a quote. Mike called and told me someone would come out to give me an estimate to tent the house . A guy came out but I never got the estimate. The report I received from the first guy never had any estimates for the planks. I emailed him and he never responded. The following week I got a call to see if I wanted to go ahead with the work. The inspector, David, arrived early, and he is also very polite and wears shoe covers when going through the interior. I am going to give the foreman ***** stars for finishing the paint job on the replaced fiberglass door which prevents further termite damage. Also, for his willingness to go the extra mile by volunteering to add a touch of his craft to a slanted cement threshold. There is good reason Samuel is a foreman. We got a second opinion/termite inspection through Times Up... Excellent from the first phone call to inspection. I really appreciated the customer service, transparency, speed of inspector and knowledge. I will also most likely go with this company to repair dry rot etc, since they will use some of the inspection fee toward the repair, granted we do all of the repairs within a month. I still think that is good business practice, since other companies I called did not offer the same service. read more

I was suspecting some termites being present so I called them and set an appointment for them to come out and take a look. Turn out it wasn't termites but just some other bugs that come and go. Appreciate the report they provide as well and what's even more amazing is how they don't charge if they don't exterminate. Wow! Got us an appt very quickly just 2 days from call. When Edgar arrived he was very thorough with his investigation. Cost seemed fair given the scope of the work, which was fumigation for termites in our deck/walls + ground treatment for subterranean termites. All aspects of the service was friendly and efficient, from scheduling to ground treatment to fumigation to payment. My only complaint is about PG&E, whose window to turn my gas back on after it was shut off for fumigation was 8am to midnight. Really!!?!? Recommendation: get extra bags for storing stuff - you probably have more than you realize, and it might be difficult to stuff fully packed bags back into your refrigerator / freezer. read more

We've had several positive experiences with Times Up Termite. Last year we needed to paint the exterior of our house. The first contractor that looked at our house indicated that we had some rotten wood boards that needed replacing. I called Times Up for a second opinion. They carefully tested the boards and concluded that no replacements were needed. You can trust these people for an honest assessment of what's needed. They don't perform unnecessary work to make more money. Recently we had to have our house fumigated for termites. We contacted Times Up Termite. They got the job done on time and budget, and did a great job of coordinating with PG&E for the utility shut off and restart. We were out of our house for the minimum amount of time. This type of fumigation requires packing all food items in plastic bags. We did our best but missed a few items. The crew from Times Up gathered up the missing items and bagged them for us. They went above and beyond. I recommend them and would work with them again. read more

Woohoo! This company is as good as it gets! Seriously! I had to have the dreaded tent fumigation. EEK!!! Not fun. In fact, it's a pretty stressful experience. But it's so much easier when you use a company like Times Up. I must've emailed Mike in the office a thousand times about everything, but each time, he was so helpful, courteous & got back to me in record time! The customer service this company gives you is so rare these days! I felt spoiled! We had some repair work done in our crawl space and the repair guy thought he noticed some termite activity. We called Times Up Termite, they came out the very next day to do an inspection around the exterior of the house as well as in the crawl space. Fortunately for us, the inspector did not identify any termite activity. Ants-yes, termites no! I absolutely will call Times Up Termite for a more thorough inspection in the fall. In Feb 2018 we hired Times Up Termite to inspect our home. We have it checked every 3 - 4 years by them. They found 4 areas of dry rot and gave us a very competitive quote to repair the damaged wood. They have kept our home termite free for the last 24 years. They came out and worked for 2 days and did a perfect job. We had our own paint for both trim colors but our paint was very old. They didn't think the older paint was a good match so they went to a paint store and bought 2 colors that matched perfectly. They always go the extra mile with every project!!! You can't see where the repairs were done and the newly painted wood matches perfectly with our 11 year old paint (even in the rain when it got wet - I was very happy). We have used Times Up Termite for over 30 years and they continue to provide competitively priced work that always exceeds our expectations. All of our neighbors use them too and have never been disappointed. They also do great work remodeling and doing additions. They have expanded their services over the years and their quality remains perfect! I would highly recommend for eliminating/preventing termites, repairing wood damage and doing all construction work for your home (room additions, remodeling bath or kitchen or any other work). I'm not sure how this business is getting their ratings but it should not be even close to 2 stars at the most. I could not believe what I was hearing from Rudy the (owner) of the company. Very unprofessional customer service and very rude. They call for a credit card info so they can process and send the report to be uploaded on the MLS. How long does it take to run a credit card and send the report? Guessing no longer than 5 mins to process and get the report? well its been a week and still giving the run around. I'm sure businesses like this one will not last and I don't know how this one still standing. The Agent had mentioned that he will not be using them anymore, I could not believe what I heard? The owner said good do not use us anymore in very rude sarcastic way. I recommend going to someone else for any termite report. read more

I love this company. They inspector came out for the free inspection - and only found a couple things to keep an eye on and no pressure to do any work that wasn't needed. I even asked about a few things that I thought needed to be done, and he checked them out and said nothing needed to be done now! I contacted Times Up when a competing pest control company told me I needed over $1000 in treatment for an area that looked like termites had been there at some point, but I suspected the termites were long gone. Nick came out and did a very through inspection. He asked lots of questions and even asked to see the pest report that was done when we bought our home 4 years ago (completed by said competing pest company). He concluded that the treatments done back then probably exterminated all termites and told me no further treatment was needed, and gave me some good advice on prevention and early detection. His inspection was free of charge while the other company charged me $85 for an inspection that was not nearly as thorough. I will be using Times Up from now on! read more

I saw some termites in my house after the first fall rain - they disappeared shortly after. Nick was prompt, honest, nice, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need.
