Very disappointed in my experience today with Yulissa at Timmons today. I walked in fully prepared to purchase and left without a car. Honesty and integrity matter to me, and this was a textbook bait-and-switch. I did my research, used the dealership's online payment calculator, confirmed the exact vehicle, and scheduled an appointment. Clear, simple, straightforward. I test-drove the car, confirmed it was the one I wanted, reiterated my $4,000 down payment and excellent credit -- and then everything shifted. I was presented with quotes for completely different vehicles than the one we had just test drove and discussed. After another long wait, I received numbers that were dramatically higher than what was advertised online. What is going on here? I've made this so easy - it should be a slam dunk sale. Not the case. She just continued to play games. Instead of acknowledging the discrepancy, she said she had "never seen" the online pricing (there are literally 1/2 dozen of this same car). She went as far as to take photos MY phone to show a manager. What tha???? This is your own website! Why are you acting like this? Just go get the dang numbers. She left me sitting for a third time and I left. We have choices about where we spend money and what the transaction should feel like - mutually respectable. It is shady how they initially responded to my review with "we are so sorry, we will reach out to you asap" to then never doing so, deleting that reply and then trying to cover it up by saying it's all good and it was cleared by a Honda technician. This was never told to me when I went to the dealership in person to retrieve my car and asked what was done to my car. There is no excuse for the lack of communication or care, even if this is true, I have a hard time believing it after everything I've been through with this dealership. Here I am 5k miles later and the check engine light is on yet again with - you guessed it - a catalytic converter code and a fuel injector code. Seriously a pain. Once again you're on your own here if you buy a used car without a warranty add-on. Purchasing a used car is always more stressful than buying a new car since there's always an unknown on the actual condition of the vehicle and it's difficult to know how much negotiating margins one has. But, I was treated well and did not feel pressured. I give particular high marks to my salesperson, Robert, who reached out to me via phone and text without any pressuring. I did not purchase my Subaru from this location. I moved to Long Beach in early 2025 and have since had my car serviced here twice for simple maintenance. Both times, I left feeling uneasy about the quality of the work. The service is fast, maybe a little too fast. After my first visit, my car started showing a low windshield wiper fluid notice for the first time ever, about two months later. When I brought this up during my second visit, I explained to Danny Duong (the service advisor who helped me) that my usage hadn't changed. He insisted that I must have been using the wiper fluid more than usual, which didn't sit right with me. I had received an email from Timmons with a coupon for a complimentary rental, so I mentioned it at check-in. Danny, and even the coworker next to him, seemed surprised by the coupon. He said he needed to speak with the person in charge of rentals, then suddenly remembered it was Saturday and said that person wasn't working that day. He offered to help by ordering me an Uber to and from my home while my car was being serviced. In the past, I've always received a detailed service report via call, text, or email outlining what was done and any recommendations. This time, I received nothing until I specifically asked for it after being notified that my car was ready. Even then, the report I was emailed did not seem complete or as detailed as reports I've received in the past. For example, I usually receive information about my tire tread depth, but that information was completely missing. When I reviewed the report, the total listed online was different from the amount Danny told me I had to pay at the dealership. He said he didn't know why the online report showed a different total and that "it is what it is." The difference was about $20, not a huge amount, but essentially, that "complimentary" Uber ride wasn't actually complimentary. Because of these experiences, I'll be returning to the dealership where I originally purchased my Subaru. I can't shake the feeling of distrust with the service department at this location. Let's start off by saying that I am very excited to be a new Subaru driver! I came in with an idea of what I wanted to purchase, but was still unsure. After meeting with Russell and going on a test drive; I immediately fell in love. Russell was so descriptive and answered all my questions with clarity. We bought our 2020 Subaru Ascent a few years back from another Subaru dealership, and when we moved to southern California we started coming here to Timmons. I can't say enough about how wonderful their customer service is, especially Chris and David in the service department, who have helped me a few times now. Chris goes above and beyond to make sure we know what's going on, the estimated costs and the time frame in which things will be done. My car is in great shape thanks to their team here, and I always feel good about not being ripped off. I spoke to another customer here while I'm sitting waiting for my oil change, and she agrees that it's always a good experience coming here. Friendly employees, super honest and open service department, and as far as I know, they do excellent work on cars. The other customer said she's been bringing her vehicle here for years and it's got over 170,000 miles on it but still running strong! That's a testament to their work here. As long as we live in this area, (and as long as Chris is around) I think we'll continue to bring our Subaru here. It's so good to have a place we can trust. To cut to the chase before sharing the personal stuff: If you're considering a Subaru, start here. Period.  I'm sure all the guys there are great, but I can tell you that if you ask for Russell, you'll be in great hands - especially if what you're looking for is a friendly, low pressure experience. Onto the rest: In a fit of pique last Saturday, I reached out online to test drive the BRZ - no intention of buying that day, but wanted to check it out. Was called by Russell maybe 15 minutes later; he was unavailable that day, but we quickly arranged a drive the following morning. I was already prepping my speech for the following morning - I'm not buying today, I'm just checking things out, no, you can't convince me, no, I don't want to meet with your GM or finance manager, etc. etc. etc.  No, I'm not giving you my SSN.  I'm just looking.  I don't intend to spend eight hours here today being hard sold. I had it all teed up and ready to go.  Turns out, it was a waste of my mental time; when I got there and he joined me, I instantly felt at ease and  comfortable with him from the moment I saw him exit the building. He seemed to just instinctively understand I was just there that day to get the lay of the land.  In retrospect, he was probably content to let the car(s) sell themselves.  Good call, Russell, because the cars do sell themselves.  :) So I felt comfortable laying on him at the last minute, before we even pulled out of the lot, that I also wanted to drive a Crosstrek - no problem, he had time for it.  It was like the guy was my personal concierge for what turned into 90 minutes - a 90 minutes *I* wanted, not that he pushed me into. We chatted during the drive - I explained that I didn't really NEED a new car, but that Subs had been catching my eye, especially since I no longer love any of my go-to makes. I told him about my 2008 G37S that i desperately miss, explaining that I don't love what infiniti did with their later models that have now been discontinued anyway, and that the BRZ was all that was now catching my eye as far as that class goes.   He owns a BRZ, so told me about his experiences with it. It was a nice test run, and I didn't even kill the engine till we pulled back into the lot afterward. Haha. (Manual trans.) Once he took me to the crosstrek, though, I instantly knew that would be my jam. I've always hated SUVs/crossovers, but i knew as soon as I pulled out of the lot that that's where I'm at in my life, now.  Turns out he owns one of those too, so he gave me some good owner-info on it.  Never seeming like he was "selling" me, just like friends car- talking over a beer (or in this case, my huge bottle of water). As we drove the brand new Crosstrek with 8 miles on it, I told him a) I probably wouldn't purchase before the first of the year and that b) my sweet spot is used under a year/10K miles.  He nearly jumped out of the passenger seat to tell me that they rotate their loaners every few months, and that might be a good way for me to go given my requirements.  "And since you're not in a hurry, I can text you when something comes up."  We agreed this was the way to go. When we got back to the lot, he asked me to wait a minute while he checked to see if anything was going to come 'round in a few months.  Turns out, one with the exact trim/features I wanted was about to be spiffed up for sale.  He told me, "it's probably too soon for you, but do you want to drive it?"  Well, YES.  As a matter of fact, I do!  So off we went for the third drive of the morning. I drove it, LOVED IT, we brought it back, he told me it hadn't been priced yet but he'd give me a call to keep me posted.  About five days later, he called. Price was fair.  In the meantime, I had "built" the same model on the Subaru website with its respective packages, allowed for this one being "used" (2024, 4K miles), and the number I came up with is pretty much exactly what was ultimately offered compared to similar used models for sale elsewhere. So by last night, I'd agreed to buy it, and he picked me up AT MY HOME this morning so I wouldn't have to take an uber (no trade). The car was already waiting for me out front - detailed and gorgeous.  He took a lot of time to show me all its features and explain everything.  We spent probably an hour on that, and then it was time for paperwork:  which took about 45 minutes, most of that because Mike in finance and I were chitchatting throughout, due to having friends in common.  All in all:  in at 9, out at around 10:45a, superlative purchasing experience from drive to paperwork. After buying my last car on Carvana, I swore I'd never go brick and mortar again, but I did this time and I have no regrets.  If their service department is anything approaching sales/finance/front desk staff, I'm going to be even happier that the Crosstrek is now sitting in my driveway waiting for the third joyride of the day. read more
