It was probably only in Richmond BC where could find a good Chinese seafood restaurant closer to beach in a traditional-look seashore town. It is at corner of First Ave and Bayview St (but there was no bay view :) and need to find parking by the street (usually 2~3 blocks away).

Revisit of Timmy Kitchen after a few years, sad to say the standard greatly differed from before. Owners are the same, they are still very friendly, but I am sure that the kitchen staffs may have seen some changes. Roasted Chicken with Seasoned Salt 3 stars Recommended by the boss lady. I don't know if the skin is supposed to be crispy or not with this recipe, as it is not the more popular Crispy Skin Chicken that is common in most Cantonese Restaurants. Yes, the meat is tender and juicy but I still prefer the crispy skin type. Tofu with Seafood Hotpot 1 stars A very common dish, this lacks flavour and also substance. Not up to their regular standard at all. Steamed Fresh Oysters with Black Bean Sauce 3 stars Simple dish, if the oysters are fresh, you've already win this dish and with proper cooking time and sauce it will be perfect. The oysters we got were very fresh but it was slightly over cooked maybe for one minute too much. Lobster in Green Onion & Ginger Sauce 4 stars This is the star of the night, meaty, juicy, sweet & not overcooked. Simple yet delicious, we ordered some noodles later to soaked up all the goodness from the lobster! Minced Beef & Tofu with Cilantro Soup 3 stars Old standby soup for Cantonese Restaurants, their version adds tofu which makes the soup more smooth and hearty! Final score: 2.8 stars Verdict: Only if you are in the neighbourhood, and fancy Chinese food. Steveston has a lot to offer and I may not come back for a while.

Reasonable prices, fresh ingredients, friendly and attentive staff, and yummy food!!! Washroom could be a bit cleaner but other than that, no complains. Restaurant is clean with simple decor. Smaller than I thought so highly recommend to make a reservation on weekends. Weekdays are salt fine but good to make a reservation too, but weekends are crazy. Don't suggest weekends because it's so crowded. Some street parkings around the area but mostly paid parking as it's in Steveston. Quite a lot of dishes to choose from and each dishes tasted delicious with nice flavour and texture. They are not too heavy or salty for a Chinese restaurant. The golden crab dish was my friend's favourite but I loved the fish and corn soup. My friend had an amazing birthday there and we will definitely go back again!

$20 for a Crab & Lobster, minimum $20 in other food ordered though. The other food was good, but the Crab & Lobster were amazing!

Almost want to keep this to myself but this won't be the spirit of a yelper ;) Impressed with the fish tank, one would expect fresh seafood being this close to the pier. It's pretty good value: you get a lobster & crab for $20 though they do seem a bit smaller--nevertheless, you get value here, chose the ginger onion sauce, good flavour. Can you believe they wanted to charge an extra $6 for the cream sauce? But the highlight--honey garlic spareribs--must've been the best i've had in a long, long time. Very meaty, but the aroma, i even smelled this a few tables away before server arrived. And plenty of the honey sweet juice underneath, so every bite full of sweetness. Sprinkled lots w/ sesame, no cheaping out here. Green veggies were quite fresh too. Altogether 4 dishes for $60 including tax/tip in a better than average decor, not too shabby. About 6 tables in the main room, plus a separate room of similar size. Being way out in Steveston, guess they have to offer value to attract customers. Kinda hidden away from the quay. good service. lots of parking.

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!

We arrived in time for our reservation but there was no one at the front. We waited for a few minutes for someone to notice we were there, and were immediately seated. It's a nice looking place - very classic whites, and feels like a fine dining restaurant. We decided to try the following: - Beef Carpaccio: Good. Maybe a bit light on the meat, as it was buried by the arugula and pickled shallots, so seemed unbalanced, but overall tasted great - Seafood Linguini: Mixed. Linguini was good. Scallops were really good and tender. Mussels were tiny. Red snapper was tough and dry. As a dish, it was OK, but could be better. Seafood is seasonal, so I'd think they would be better off rotating what seafood is used. - LuLu Island: OK. Same issue as the linguine. Prawns were fine. Mussels tiny. Red snapper wasn't enjoyable. Broth had flavour, but didn't come out very hot. Service was pleasant but slow. I only saw one server and one busser, so not enough staff to handle 6 or 7 tables they had. Starter came n reasonable time, but main dishes seemed to take over 20min. Took awhile to get our plates cleared, and probably 15+ minutes to get the bill. Overall, it was OK. Food was OK, but not special. Service was nice enough, but couldn't keep up with timing. Glad I got to try it, but not special enough to go back.

I like supporting local businesses and food is an easy way to do that since we need to eat. It was closed the first time I went. Good thing the hours were posted on the food truck. So I came back again and got to try the special. Grilled snapper with Greek and orzo salad. The snapper was so fresh. It was sweet and tender. The Greek salad was also good, no limp-looking vegs. Crunchy and juicy cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. The tomato was bursting with juice every time I stabbed it with the fork. I gave up and just popped it into my mouth. Yums. The street corn was also sweet and juicy with a bit of char. Love the toppings on it. There was a promo for street corn and drink ($8). I had the ginger citrus iced tea. The iced tea was lightly sweetened and I found it just right for my taste. The ginger and citrus flavor was very subtle, not overpowering. I like that they made it in house. None of those powder or box tea. I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. Friendly staff too. Prices are a bit on the high side for a food truck but the quality justified it. Nothing worse than paying more for mediocre food. For something that was almost $30 I expected more. The amount and size of seafood was fine but I had expected more flavour like grilled prawns or seared scallops. Seems like it was all poached so there was no colour and everything was the same texture, colour, and flavour. It was cooked well and tender, but for the price, I would have liked some crust on my scallops and I could not taste the lobster in the sauce. Overall, it was seasoned well and still tasted good. Calabrese Salami Pizza 3.5/5 Crust was crispy and thin. Good amount of salami. Could have used more olives. The oven made the salami nicely crisp on the edges. However, there was no basil as noted on the menu. Just a little bit of basil oil drizzled on the center. Overall, if you want a comfortable place to sit and catch up with friends, this is a good place for it. The food while okay, could use some improvement.

My niece and I parked the car a couple of blocks away and walked down towards the water. This quaint little "village", which is part of Richmond, was absolutely lovely, and when we came across Dave's, we had to go in. The place was busy (always a good sign) and we were seated towards the back of the restaurant where we had the place all to ourselves. Loved the nautical ambiance. Our server, Trixi, couldn't do enough for us, and she answered all our questions about the area and what to eat. We both ordered fish and chips, which came with crispy, sweet coleslaw, very tasty and hearty french fries (almost as good as Quebec's :-)). I had the halibut and my niece had the cod. Both were crispy on the outside and hot and delectable on the inside. Love having both white and malt vinegar on the table with the salt & pepper, just how it should be in Canada. To top it off Trixi suggested trying their "Growers" cider (made in BC) so we both ordered Juicy Bartlett Pear. Soooooo good. I will definitely be back when I return, sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by some concerning practices around cleanliness and food safety. While we were eating, a man began sweeping the floor within about ten feet of our table. At the time, I assumed he was a staff member doing routine cleaning, so I politely asked if he could pause until we finished our meal. His reaction was odd and difficult to understand, and it wasn't until later--when the wait staff told us he was actually the owner--that the situation felt even more surprising. The server added that he was "the boss" and entitled to do what he wanted, which left us feeling dismissed rather than acknowledged. I eat out frequently--several times a week--and I honestly cannot remember a single restaurant in the past twenty years where someone swept the floor right next to us during a meal. Cleanliness is important, but doing it so close to customers who are actively eating is uncomfortable and raises questions about how seriously basic food safety standards are taken. If front‑of‑house hygiene is handled this casually, it's hard not to wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen and food‑preparation areas. This incident bothered me for two days afterward, and I finally decided to write this review because the experience felt so out of the ordinary. The food itself was fine, but the service and the owner's behavior made the visit less pleasant and left me with lingering concerns about the restaurant's overall standards.
