I was looking for a new place to try for lunch with my golf buddy after playing a round of golf at High Cedars, and being a Yelper I decided to check some reviews from the area. Thus I was lead to Tim's Kitchen, and it is a nice gem to enjoy in Orting. The menu is full of lots of good food and was hard to decide at first what to choose. I decided to go for the Western Burger, which comes with one side of your choice. For my side I choose to do the one trip to the salad bar for an extra dollar. When they brought my plate out and it was a 12 inch plate, and not a small salad plate my eyes about popped out of my head. The salad bar is pretty nice with Iceberg, Romaine, and Spinach and all the other fixings for a good Chef Salad. They also had pickled beets, coleslaw, potato salad, cottage cheese, and chocolate pudding. It was almost more food than I needed, and I didn't even have my burger yet. The Western Burger was excellent. The service was great and fast, and the atmosphere was truly family friendly especially with the model trains. read more

Delicious home cooked food, big portions, great prices. Nice place to have lunch with the family (they have A/C on high! Yay!!) came here after spending time in the park across the street. I recommend the teriyaki chicken sandwich, so yummy. Very friendly staff always a plus. read more

We were in Orting on a recent Sunday and stopped by this local gem. Fun setting with the local teen scene working hard to take care of us. The train is a terrific diversion while waiting for the food. DH ordered his usual omelette which he enjoyed. I appreciated the opportunity to order just one piece of homemade fried chicken (my choice: a thigh) served with a side which for me was the homemade baked beans. Oh my god!!! 10 of us came in on in the middle of our motorcycle ride. Service was very fast and and efficient. They were amazing. We ordered a wide variety of food - the CPR burger with a double patty. The pig that was with us ate his burger in less than three minutes. There is chili and macaroni and cheese are both homemade and are absolutely delicious. We also had a couple of their gourmet hot dogs - the baked beans hotdogs and the Mack and cheese hot dog. Every single one of us were impressed with the quality of food. This restaurant has been open for the past two years. If they continue serving this quality of food at these prices, with this service, they will stay in business for years to come. We have tried a few things here and each one is delicious, from omlettes to french toast. They make a great kids breakfast too. Just an overall great place. We came in for some local fare in Orting after going to a pumpkin patch nearby. We have two four year olds and a toddler, and were welcomed to a cozy corner booth with a high chair. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered stuffed jalapeños with strawberry jalapeño jam-delicious! We then split a country fried boneless chicken dinner which they brought out in two plates with generous helpings complete with two rolls and sides of fried onion rings and loaded mashed potatoes. The kids got mac and cheese, chicken strips and mini corn dogs. All of the fried food was superb- much better than most chain restaurants we eat at, and everyone split everything just to try each other's food. My only disappointment was that they do not serve beer or any alcohol. However my sweet tea was refreshing and hit the spot. Also they were out of a couple other menu items. The decor is nice with cedar columns, booths and a well built model train track around the interior of the dinning room. Overall the place looks nice, clean and has a NW rustic feel to it. I was somewhat curious why this lovely little "find" had reviews less than a 5 star rating!! So, I read them. Evidently Bruce P. did not have Melody as his server. After the most warm greeting I almost felt that we were Melodys' family. She was rather busy but I observed her interacting with her other customers and she was as delightful to them as she was to us. Melody took time to interact and listen to our 5 year old and 9 year old as they rambled on about their new litter of 9 puppies. It was so refreshing to watch. So...the service was absolutely 5 star. Now, for the food. Our table ordered quite an assortment....cod sandwich with tater tots, corndog with Mac and cheese, milkshake with a side of salad, and I had the veggie burger with French fries. We all agreed that this was some wholesome country cooking. The French fries were among the best that I have ever had. Crisp and not at all greasy. The veggie burger was also excellent. I would encourage Bruce or anyone who might have gone to Tim's in the past to give it another go. If possible, ask for Melody as your server, order something other than you had last time and enjoy the adorable train above as you wait. Maybe it's because I am a bit old fashion, (sometimes longing for Kress' soda fountain days), or maybe we sat in a completely different part of the restaurant?, I did not find Tims needing a remodel. The booths did not seem to be in need of repair? So I guess opinions, concepts and memories all influence our views and reviews. My desire is that all dining experiences will be as delightful as this one! I think Melody might be the owner as she gives it her all with her beautiful smile and attentive service. Tim's Kitchen had come to Orting, WA for several months before we decided to try them for breakfast. The previous owners hadn't done a very good job, so we were hesitant to try Tim's, but we'd heard great things about them, so we give them a try. I am so glad we did! I had the Smothered Stack and my girlfriend had the eggs benedict. Both our meals were hot and delicious and we soon found ourselves going to Tim's for breakfast at least 2 times a week. Then we decided to try some of their lunch menu and again, we weren't disappointed. I had the Hawaiian chicken sandwich and my girlfriend had the Chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich. We both had their delicious thick cut ranch fries for our side with tartar sauce. Both of those have been added to our favorites list. It seems no matter what we try, it's always fresh, hot and delicious. Tim's staff and family are always super friendly and we feel right at home when we go there now. If you live in Orting or are passing through, be sure and stop at Tim's for breakfast or lunch. This place is awesome and the atmosphere is adorable. It is very cabin-like inside and has a train running on tracks up by the ceiling. The food was to die for! Don't go here if dieting because the food is definitely comfort food, not diet food :) They have a ton of different options for food, but an excessively big hotdog selection. I had the bacon and avocado dog and it was awesome. Imagine a hotdog wrapped in crispy bacon and covered in avocado and pico. My side was the homemade macaroni. Both were incredible! The server was also friendly and talked to my small child a lot which was sweet. read more

We had a wait to be seated because this place was so busy. I can see why, the food was wonderful and the prices were great! The people were friendly. It was not the cleanest table when we sat down, still very wet and sticky with some syrup in a few spots. They took our cell number and taxed us when there was a table ready and we waited in the car. There is no room for waiting inside. It is a nice place for home cooked meals. read more

Super good! We got the country omelette and veggie omelette. With the first bite we both said to each other, "This is really good!" Country omelette came with a side of either country or sausage gravy, hash browns, and I got a biscuit, which was quite yummy and not dry (I don't care for biscuits, so that's saying something). I would have taken pictures, but we were really hungry. Restaurant is clean and the decor is nice with a lot of wood beams and a train overhead (wasn't operating at the time). We came in with 2 hungry little kids and the 3 parties that came in after us got service right away but no one came over to our table at all. We waited about 15 minutes, then we left. Went in for a late Sunday morning breakfast. The menu has lots of variety and selections in both large & smaller portions. They also have a nice array of vegetarian items. OK food... don't order the mozzarella sticks unless you have a party of 20. They give you way too much. When I went to the salad bar for second time, was told the salad bar is only one round, It felt pretty embarrassing. I've never herd of a 1 round salad bar. The next time I go in there, I have two other people with me. It's a little crowded but we see a table that seats six. It was a four seater and two seater put together. We asked for A table and they said there was nothing available. I'm not going back there again. I don't like their attitude or customer service. read more

Not bad for a home style diner. The food was ok.... $4 for a cup of soup??!!?? Wait staff seems pretty slow. Waited 25 minutes then got served without silverware. I stopped by Tim's kitchen with my daughter for a quick lunch. Saw the reviews and the salad bar and thought I couldn't go wrong. We ordered a chicken Parmesan sandwich and two salad bars. It took 40 minutes before I walked up to the waitress and said we needed to go, she said the sandwich was done and she would have it right out. Meanwhile, the female cook starts throwing a fit and saying that my food is raw as she slaps the bun on it. I thought the service was OK but the cook clearly could not handle more than three tables in the restaurant at a time. if you can't take the heat in the kitchen and get out. I will never go back. Tough one. The server was nice and the food was okay. Unfortunately, the cons outweighed the pros for us. Many of the booths/seats are ripped, which always bothers me for some reason. Our appetizer came out with our meal instead of before. Our salad bar plate came our right before our meal was served and we had to ask for for the biscuit that came with it. My husband's toast never arrived that was advertised with his omelette and my pancakes weren't cooked through in the middle. Quite a few mistakes for a $68 meal in a diner. Way too expensive for what you get ! The wife had a club that was So-so, and her sister had the chicken special which was ok but nothing to write home about . I had the liver and onions that was the worse I have ever had . Way too much brown gravy an a few soggy onions no mashed potatoes . The liver cut had fat on it or maybe it was gristle . Makes me shudder ! The salad bar was nothing to write home about . Our ice tea was not the regular as it was loaded with sugar . We finally got the regular but just a little ice.
