Don't order online, they won't receive it "the system messes up a lot". We got the steamed dumplings, Kung Po chicken, general cho's, and chicken mei fun. My daughter and I always drive by here on the way to the beach, and for over two years we've been saying we're going to give it a try. Today was the today, folks. Typically, the timeless saying "you can't judge a book by its cover" rings true. But for Choi's, unfortunately there's a big fat N/A. Service was fine and food was ready in about 10-15 minutes, and was hot. However, and unless you enjoy oceans of grease in your egg rolls and sweet and sour chicken, coupled with very strange tasting rice (think old cardboard from your Grandma's basement), you aren't going to be happy here. The steamed dumplings were decent but tasted like the frozen kind you buy from Costco. The only saving grace from Choi's getting the dreaded one star was the General Tso's chicken. That id eat again, but only if someone brought it to me, and I didn't have to pay for it. If you want some authentic, legit Chinese food, check out the Hong Kong Cafe in St. Augustine. This is a little place tucked under the overpass on Mayport Road, which makes it difficult to get to but worth the turn around. They don't have indoor seating, this is take out and delivery only. The Pu Pu Tray for $5.95 is great and gives you a taste of everything. I really like the Low Mein Noodles as well. I have one daughter that only gets the Chicken on a stick and for $3.95 for 4 of them, I let her! The Chef Specials are plentiful and cheap. The most expensive one is the Seafood Delight at $10.95. Went back to Choi's tonight and got beef broccoli - do not recommend. Egg roll was great, broccoli and rice and sauce were ok, but the beef itself was not good - texture was really off...like, a weird, gummy consistency that feels like it was ground up and mixed with something else, like a bunch of flour or soy, and then pounded back into thinner slices. Singapore Mei Fun noodles were packed with a variety of proteins including nicely cooked large shrimp. Sesame chicken was crunchy and not too sweet. I called to explain that we didn't get what we ordered and they decided to try and argue with me about our order. They refused to work with me and said I am in the wrong. This is my second time eating here for lunch and haven't been disappointed yet! The eggs rolls are awesome and not super greasy. And can't beat their lunch special.. a good amount of food for 4.99. I had gotten take-out (no dine-in) from Choi's a couple of times and the food was very servicable and affordable - no complaints. But today I got food and there must have been someone different cooking. The hot and sour soup was the best I have had in years, and my entree (sesame chicken) was of a quality usually associated with a much more expensive, fancier Chinese restaurant. I was very pleased.
