This place was great. Adorable inside, delicious food, great prices. The decor is unexpected for a Thai place, rusted corrugated metal wainscoting, mason jars for glasses, and rustic wood tables. I loved it! I ordered the tofu pra-ram. It was a good size portion, I ended up taking half of it home for dinner tonight! Score! Way better than the other Thai places in the area! As far as our family is concerned, Tin Thai has the best thai food in the tri-valley area. We go back at least twice a month. The papaya salad has the perfect mix of spicy, sweet and sour and all the chicken dishes are outstanding. Our particular favorites are the Drunken Noodles with chicken, green curry and the musamman. The duck and the basil beef is consistently good. Service is friendly and atmosphere is perfect for a neighborhood eatery. read more

My family is Thai and we often go to Thailand and compare the food cooked there to food cooked here in the U.S. I have to say that many of the dishes at Tin Thai Kitchen taste very similar/authentic to what we have ordered in Bangkok. Tasty stuff! The Pad Thai is very good, as is the Beef Pad See Ew and Gra Prow Kai Dow. Dishes are a bit on the pricey side but good food is worth its weight in gold. read more

VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE My mom is allergic to bean sprouts so we told them not to put it the pad Thai we also told them specifically everything we order we want vegetarian. We ordered vegetarian pad Thai and we ordered vegetable curry with tofu. When the veg curry came it had no Tofu and I asked the waitress why it had no tofu she said "oh I thought you didn't want it.. (WHY WOULD I NOT WANT IT IF WE ORDERED IT?!) Then when the pad Thai came it had shrimp we asked "Why does it have shrimp? We are vegetarians." She took it back and came back with a very small plate of pad Thai and we asked "Why is this Less than before?? It's very low quantity." Then two chefs came out and asked if we got tofu and we did... In the pad Thai. The owner (I assume) asked why we called her food low quality. Not once did we say her food was bad quality (Due to her bad English I assume she mistook quantity for quality). Then she said "why are you changing my menu??" My mom replied "I'm allergic to bean sprout and if I eat it I will die.." The owner went on to complain and say "I don't want you to change my menu, make sure you don't come back again!" This was very embarrassing because the restaurant was full and many other customers were watching. We got up to leave and she came toward us to push us out until we told her not to touch us. I will never go back!! Food allergies are life threatening and a very serious matter it's is unbelievable that she was angry due to something thing my mother could not control (Her allergies) I believe that was very wrong of her, the waitress could have told us we can't change the item on the menu, we would have been more than understanding and we would've ordered something else. Overall the food was not too bad but the service was the worst I've ever seen. read more

i never knew this place existed until i searched for thai food on yelp. i ordered my food, it was ready in a timely fashion, i went to pick it up. the young lady who helped me was very courteous and nice. i came home and was very pleased with the food. it had the perfect amount of spiciness and the portions were decent. the chicken dish was enough for two people but the rice that came with it was enough for a single person. i will definitely be visiting this place often considering its just down the street from my house. read more

Last Saturday we had probably the best Thai meal ever at the newly opened Tin Thai Kitchen in Livermore! Two of us ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai, two ordered the Basil Beef, and two ordered the Sweet and Sour Tamarind Sole. My Pad Thai was the perfect combination of noodles, tofu, sprouts, shrimp, peanuts, and egg - sweet, spicy, crunchy, and delicate all rolled into one fabulous plate! We all tasted the Sweet and Sour Tamarind Sole and agreed that it was fantastic! Each meal was beautifully presented on elegantly simple white china. Obi the talented owner/chef came out to greet us. The servers were friendly, prompt, and attentive. The decor, a fresh combination of antique, vintage, metal, and wood, with the large old photo of the King of Thailand in residence, gives Tin Thai a homey feel with a nice urban edge. This is a "get comfortable and relax with a good meal place!" The Thai iced tea was delicious! For starters, we sampled the delectable vegetarian spring rolls, steamed chicken dumplings, and curried filled pastries, each served with unique sauces that were perfect accompaniments. One of Livermore's newer Thai restaurants, interior is modern and clean. Their menu comes on this faux newspaper, with the items listed as columns, kinda clever. For the hip-ster-pies in you, their water glasses are all mason jars w/ a little teeny handle. Ok enough w/ the obscure details, onto the food: I've gotten mostly noodle dishes, the pad see eww is a pretty good size, but too salty for my taste. The soup has a nice bite w/ a bit of sourness accompanying the coconut milk soup, but only recommended as an appetizer as they are rather small. They can also adjust spice, if you like it "Thai" hot, but I can't hang so i just go w/ medium and it's pretty on-scale (ie. medium doesn't actually mean HOT). And yes, the servers are mostly younger, college kids working part time maybe, but I do like that the owners actually hire people and don't force their kids into indentured SERVitude. A nice addition to Livermore ethnic eats, gosh knows we need more of that in this town. read more

very rude owners, i ordered pad thai which i always do witht he same liking, but today the chicken & noodles did not taste right. i let my friend taste it & she said it was not fresh. so i ordered a diff. item. when the bill came they still charged me w/ pad thai that i did not eat. why will they charge me for this food that is not fresh. i pity the waiter bec. he cannot help me this. i thought the owners will understand the situation, but they still made me pay for this. am telling my friends & people eating at this restaurant to be very careful in ordering their food.... watch out for this type of individuals....I believe the customers are always right.... read more

Not the best thai food. Very strange to find onions in coconut milk soup. The soup is $5 for a small cup which really adds up so if you do go, you can pass on the soup. Their recipes are odd. The pai thai and thai tea were both ok. read more

My wife kept bringing this place up, so we went there last night. We had the chicken drunkin noodles, spicy basil beef, rice and a pastry puff starter. Rice portion was a little small. Chicken drunken noodles was very good, menu claims its a 2 * for spice, so I went with it. Wasn't too spicy, just right actually. The Spicy Basil Beef was really good and also had a 2 * for spice, so again we went with it. It was probably the spiceiest dish we have ever ordered! Still we managed to deal with it. The meal overrall was very good and I think reasonably priced. All meals were like $10-$14. Wife had a glass of wine and I had a beer. Decor was a little odd, but something to talk about. My fiance was feeling like Thai and neither of us wanted to go out or go and try to pick up takeout downtown so we thought let's give it a try. It was a Saturday night and the fiance said they were busy (good for them). We order a chicken basil dish, we like spice and it definately had that. I especially enjoyed the fried egg although it was a small portion. We also had green curry and it backed a punch as well. The spring rolls we ordered tasted fresh and the sauce they were accompained with was delicious. Overall the good was good but not the best I've had in town and the portions were quite small. Tin Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in Livermore. I've been ordering from their establishment since 2011. Their food is excellent and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, I can't accurately comment on their customer service (over the past year) since I typically order my food to good. However, I have noticed "changes" to their wait staff and hours of operations. FYI - Currently, they are not open on the weekends. read more

I had the spicy and delicious Gra Prow Kai Dow -- flavorful peppered ground chicken over rice, topped with a deep fried egg with a yolk that was cooked just as I like it.
