Appears like a large building from the outside but is actually a small quaint space that is clean and well kept. Service was awesome and we felt welcome even though it was quite clear we were tourists traveling in. I imagine this place runs in to out of towners a lot but they treated us kindly and, if we lived here, we would definitely put this spot on rotation. Our sandwiches were amazing. My partner got the one with plantains in it and that one definitely stole the show. I liked my tinta y cafe sandwich, but her's was a star. I've tried Tinta y Café in Coral Gables and Miami Shores. I love and appreciate the service in Miami Shores. The Coral Gables location, I have tried a few times and end up leaving. The window service is not the best. They have 1 employee preparing the coffee for the restaurant & the window and it's too much for 1 person. I left 3 times already. The guy does not turn to see if anyone is waiting or acknowledges your presence. My suggestion, get another person other than the barista to take care of orders at the window. Miami Shores does not have that problem. They are wonderful. Close to my home so I love it. I work in the Gables and the service is lacking. read more

A charming little gem in Coral Gables that absolutely deserves a visit, with a few caveats. The interior is cozy and full of character, decorated in a nostalgic '80s style with a lovely bar area that makes you want to stay a while. It's small, though, so be prepared to put your name on a waitlist if you're hoping to sit inside. There's also an outdoor seating option where you can order through their cute little walk-up window "la ventanita," as they call it. On a cloudy day like ours, the weather wasn't an issue, but unfortunately the outdoor area shows some wear: the plants, and the tables all need some attention. Worth noting, one section sits close to the restaurant's large trash bins, and the smell does reach the tables, which is a shame. Now, the good stuff , and there's plenty of it. The staff is wonderful: young, enthusiastic, genuinely warm and professional. The passion they have for what they do comes through immediately. The passion fruit juice (jugo de parchita) was absolutely delicious naturally unsweetened, which for me is exactly right. And the sandwich? That's what brought me here in the first place, and it did not disappoint. It was outstanding, the kind of thing you find yourself thinking about long after you've left. 100% recommended. Second visit to Tinta y Café, and it definitely lived up to the hype again. small coffee shop with a Bib Gourmand. The menu is simple and Cuban focused, but the sandwiches stand out. My favorite is the La Caleña -- turkey, prosciutto, manchego cheese, tomato, red onion, fresh cilantro, and house-made cilantro mayo. Tons of flavor and a good size. I could only finish half, which worked out perfectly to share. I love their fresh juices. The maracuyá (passion fruit) juice is my go-to and never disappoints. Cozy vibes. We dined in on a weekday. We were seated at the bar as there weren't any tables available (there are only 3 inside). To say this was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had would be an understatement. The bread was pillowy soft, the eggs were cooked to perfection , the cheese was beautifully melty. The service here is nice and the all the staff are very friendly and chill. The spinach croquetas are an absolute must when you come here! I've come here a few times because it used to be close to where you used to live and it was absolutely amazing. Their café con laches are so good. I recently went there and got a custom-made breakfast sandwich, which was absolutely amazing. I totally see the hype with this place now the seating inside is relatively small however they made it work especially like an a downtime. The service is really good too they were able to track my receipt and get me a new receipt when I asked. I love this place and I'll definitely be back. Finding parking is a pain in the @$$ cause all the street parking is for residents and the lot for their establishment only fits a few cars. Seating is limited and its first come. Or if you're on the go you can order at the walk up window. I got there for the breakfast menu which was perfect. Such a treat to have such a vibrant and high quality place open in Miami Shores! Since Pinecrest on 79th closed, the shores has been severely lacking in a good to go spot for cafecitos. However, if you are not on the move, the interior is just as welcoming as your Abuelita's living room with a kind staff that greets the locals like family. The sandwiches have amazing bread and fresh filling. Croquetas are fresh from the kitchen and some of the best I have had in North Miami in a while. We came here twice back to back so I posted all the sandwiches from both nights. The first one I forgot the name to, its like a turkey BLT of some sort, pretty good but I got the cuban sandwich which is of course a classic. The pork was SO good I insisted I got the pan con lechon the next time I went, which i also forgot the name of this one. If I had zero stars, that's what I would give. I ordered two pork sandwiches. They both came very greasy, not flavorful and was soggy bread. I took about four bites and threw it in the garbage and so did the other person at my office who was eating one. The parking situation is horrendous. There's about six spaces in front of the restaurant so there's no choice but to park in a residential area so I did that left my car for about four minutes and of course the pricks at the city of Coral Gables were waiting around there to give you a ticket. So this entire episode cost me about $50 including the sandwich I threw away in the parking ticket add another 18 for getting lunch somewhere else.. it's unfortunate. Have been wanting to try this spot out for a while and was really excited to finally stop by. My friend and I were offered a seat at the community table (which is a cool concept) as long as you're open for it. But after we sat down our server let us know two seats at the counter became available so we switched it up and it was cool because you get to see them prep the sandwiches. For sandwiches we went with the Tinta y Cafe and Madurito and split them. They were both good but the Tinta y Cafe was super depcious. Each sandwich came with mariquitas which is nice. I finished a little before my friend and we were asked multiple times if we were finished. My friend made a comment that she felt like we were being rushed out (at this point a new server had taken over our table) and I brushed her off because we had only been there in the restaurant about 40 min tops at that point. The newer server dropped off the card reader. But we told her we wanted to order a colada (which I had told our original server I was gonna want a coffee after the sandwiches) and a few croquetas to go. A little while later my coffee came and our new server asked us to finish the coffee standing because other people came in. Idk but that left a really bad taste in my mouth. I wanted to sit and enjoy my coffee and we were still waiting on the to go order. I felt a little awkward just standing in the doorway with my coffee cup and to go sandwich bag under my arm. It sucked because we had just been talking about how much of a fun time we were having and how we wanted to come back. So a little disappointed in that regard. All in all the food is great and so is the ambiance. Service was great up until we were pretty much rushed out of our seats. Came by for breakfast after arriving in Miami early in the day. We decided to come to Tinta y Cafe cause their sandwiches looked great! They have both outdoor and indoor seating but when you do outdoor seating, you order at the window and just take a seat. We didn't know that so we just sat inside. The establishment is pretty small, not a whole lot of tables. If you have a large group, there's really only one big table to sit at. I decided to get their iced cafe con leche, which is essentially a latte. I believe I got it at less sweet. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan. The espresso that they used was not as dark as I am used to so the coffee flavor was really muted by the milk. It wasn't too sweet, which was nice. I got their breakfast sandwich, which had scrambled egg, swiss cheese, crispy ham, and guava jam on media noche bread. This was delicious. The guava jam added a nice sweetness to it so it was a combo of sweet and savory. Definitely recommend! My husband got their Calena sandwich, which has turkey, prosciutto, Manchego cheese, tomato, red onion, fresh cilantro, and house-made cilantro mayo. It was good as well -- not too heavy at all.
