My pedicures always last a month. The cuticles are always cut thoroughly. My nails are filed to the perfect shape and lengths. They are gentle with my hands and feet as well. What should have been a normal appointment ended up taking until 2:00 PM--almost 2.5 hours--for a manicure and pedicure on a weekday. Unfortunately, the manicure was also poorly done. The technician filed her nail extensions so aggressively and deeply that it caused her skin to bleed. On top of that, the nails were unevenly shaped and did not look professionally finished. I understand that salons can get busy, but this was a weekday appointment, not a weekend rush, and we had specifically scheduled ahead of time. The long wait and, more importantly, the injury and uneven results made this a very disappointing experience. I expected much better service and care.

When we arrived on time, the staff said they had no record of our appointment and had to call the owner. After the call, we were told only one appointment had been scheduled, even though I clearly booked two pedicures. They eventually agreed to take both of us, but the staff's attitude made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. The technician Sara helping my sister seemed rushed the entire time, didn't properly cut her cuticles, and even left her sitting with wax on her feet for about 30 minutes to assist a walk-in client. Unfortunately, my sister's pedicure wasn't completed properly, which was very disappointing considering we had scheduled our appointment in advance and arrived on time. As a loyal customer, this experience was frustrating and not what I had come to expect from this business. Sadly, it will likely be our last visit. Also, if the staff is preparing to leave by 6:00 PM, it would be helpful for the business hours to reflect that instead of listing the closing time as 7:30 PM.

Just what I needed after a week on the go! What's more, the owner's husband checked in with me to let me know they double-checked with the vendor regarding the products to ensure I would have a safe and relaxed experience. I was genuinely so touched. I also appreciated the self-dry station. Ari dried my hair a bit, but I had the opportunity to finish using my choice of their array of styling products on the vanity. However, once they started doing my nails, they suddenly began applying gel instead. I immediately told the technician that I did not want gel and asked her not to continue, but she continued anyway. On top of that, I had already chosen my color, and they did not tell me until after they had started that they had very limited dip powder colors available. They then tried to give me a completely different color than the one I had selected. To make matters worse, I was charged double for removing my existing polish and applying the new polish. If I had been told upfront that there were limited dip colors and that there would be additional charges, I could have made an informed decision before they started. The entire experience felt misleading, rushed, and extremely frustrating. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted and clearly communicated it, yet I did not receive the service I asked for and was charged more than I expected. I do not recommend this place and will not be returning. There are plenty of nail salons where you should be able to trust that the service you request is the service you'll receive.

When it came to the manicure, it's actually a dry manicure, which I've never had before, nor have I ever heard of them! Let me tell you, there is such a thing as a dry manicure and I prefer this way better than a wet manicure. I have eczema, so I am very selective of nail salons and this was great! The different drill bits that Tracy used are to exfoliate the cuticles and around your nail bed, so minimal cutting/trimming is done. I made another appointment through their website for 07.13.26, again with Tracy, to have my gel manicure and gel pedicure removed and this time chose the combination classic manicure and classic pedicure. Basic treatments as before except for regular polish, not gel. Loved every minute of it! I would highly recommend this place! Convenient location. Everyone who has worked on my nails here has been great. They add hot stone to a regular pedicure and don't rush to do my nails. My pedicure has also been lasting longer. I recently had a gel cat-eye mani and regular pedi done by Sharon. Although I didn't end up loving my pedi color, Sharon did check in and I said it was good. The cat-eye was perfect and I'll probably get it again in the future. The only things I think the salon can improve on is getting more comfortable chairs and some sort of entertainment in there. There's no music or tv to watch. The chairs are pretty low and when my legs are straight out, they fall asleep easily.

I made a phone call to Donna for my sister's 21st birthday gift. She was kind of enough to put her down for an appointment on Friday the following week(I'm assuming she gets booked quickly - so try to schedule in advance). I also opted for a pedicure because I saw that she had spa chairs which were bomb. Donna made sure to text me back that Wednesday to remind me of our appointment. When we arrived on Friday afternoon, we were greeted and asked if we had an appointment. We said we did and were seated immediately. I reminded Donna that this was a birthday gift and she immediately knew what to do. She pampered and entertained my sister all the while crafting my sister's nails. Holly had the wonderful job of working on my pedicure. The spa chair baths circulated the perfect amount of warm water. Even better, the massaging features of the chair made me feel sooo relaxed. (TLDR) My sister's nails looked great - T&T uses high quality materials and have great manicurists. My toe nails never looked better. Only thing I would change is possibly lower prices (but quality over quantity right?). Also, they have Apple Pay! read more

Donna is fantastic! I actually found her by accident, as I tried to get a walk-in at the salon two doors down. Thank goodness they were rude to me at the other place or I wouldn't have walked by Tip & Toe. Donna was friendly and complimentary, and the other employee there, Lena, was very sweet as well. Lena did my toes while Donna did my hands. Their attention to detail is impeccable. I especially appreciated that I have very sensitive feet, and they took great care to make sure I was comfortable. Donna really is special - very funny and very good at reading people. She knew that I needed someone to tell me to relax. Good service goes a long way with me, but the fact that it's good service AND a fantastic end result - I won't be going anywhere else. read more

Never have I felt so compelled to write a review for a business as I have after leaving Donna's Tip and Toe Salon. I was with my 88 year old grandmother and I wanted to treat her to a desperately needed manicure and pedicure. She was really hesitant, but luckily Donna and Kim were so kind and comforting, that my grandmother was put at ease. I am so grateful that the two lovely ladies stayed a little late for us and that they were great to talk to. Kim gave me an absolutely stunning pedicure, complete with a hot stone massage; and Donna took such amazing care of my grandma that I could not stop smiling because I could see how happy my grandma was. I have been going to this salon for more than15 years. Prior to finding Donna, I sampled salons around Burlingame and San Mateo and never found one that I loved as much as Tip and Toe. Donna and Lee are the greatest. They really care about their customers. The salon is extremely clean, newly remodeled and super comfortable. Their work is top notch. Donna and Lee were great! My gel manicure came out perfect. They were super respectful and talked and me and not each other in a different language(which most salons don't do.) Parking was great. I lounged while they treated me really well and made me feel like their regular customer. I wanted my eye brows waxed but they don't offer that which took me by surprise. My wife and I love Donna and Lee's fantastic hot stone foot massages. Our feet our rejuvenated after every pedicure. My wife has been seeing Donna and Lee for four years. This place is really awful. My daughter is 39 weeks pregnant. We were walking about and walked in as her feet were hurting. She mentioned it to Donna and chose to get a deep tissue massage. The massage lasted barely 5 mins and cost a lot. It's one thing for the massage to be expensive and you get your value for money. But the owner lied and did a bad job. Kicked me out of her salon because I asked for my cuticles to be pushed back more. If you're in disbelief, so am I. I went to Hai for my wedding nails in 2014 and was happy with her work. Started coming back weekly to her this year and have seen her about 6 times. She's adorable and I loved talking to her about skincare and beauty treatments. I just can't believe how she treated me today. I may be a slightly picky client, I know that. But why can't you be when you're paying top dollar for a service and coming weekly?! I always give her feedback of her work the next time see her, like: the last mani I had was so beautiful and stayed on for a week! or Hey, last top coat left lines the next day (light pink nails photo) or the polish didn't go to the edge of my nail so it left that part exposed and brittle which caused breakage. Again, I'm not going to apologize for that. I don't know if she was having a bad day today or what, but it's completely unacceptable what she did. First off, I could tell she was in a rush but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to give feedback or that my appointment is less important than others. I asked her to clean under my nails one more time because there was still dirt. She handed me the tools and asked me to do it because she didn't want to poke me. No big deal, I thought. That makes sense. I don't know if that pissed her off or what because when I asked a few moments ago if she could slow down and push back my cuticles a little more, she snapped. I said I'd be happy to forgo my pedicure so I could get a slower manicure. she said "you know what, I may not be the right fit for you so let me just stop". WTF?! I asked her if she had another client because I could tell she was rushing and she said yes. She apparently doesn't believe in pushing back the cuticles too much because it will cause infection. I said why didn't you just tell me that then instead of kicking me out. I'm a reasonable person and it's not like we had any tension before or bad vibes. So weird! She begrudgingly finished my mani (burgundy photo) after I explained is Saturday and no one else can take me last minute. And I still didn't get my pedi. And sure enough, her next client came strolling in one hour after my appointment time. Funny, normally we always allow 1.25-1.5 hours for mani/pedi, not try to cram both in an hour. I'm sorry I had to leave this review, but it was well-earned. Hai could have done 20 awful manis on me and I still would not have left a bad review if she was nice. And there was one time she completely forgot about my appointment and had to drive down to the shop after I called her. Again, don't really care about that, we are all human. But the service today (or lack there of) was horrendous and just negated every prior experience I'd had. It was completely awful and made me feel like crap. In response to the Salon's reply: A quick "I don't feel comfortable pushing back your cuticles" would have sufficed instead of abruptly quitting the job and me having to talk her into finish it. I didn't want a free mani. I wanted good customer service.

On many occasions, I come with 1 other person with appointments for 2 pedicures together at a certain time, and they have had a long wait time (much later than our scheduled appointment) or had us served at such different times that one of us is completely finished before the other even starts. Not to mention, we don't even get to sit near each other. Despite booking appointments for pedicures for 2. Sadly, I won't be returning.

It felt so nice that she remembered me from my previous appointment, especially since this was only my second time coming in. She pays attention to detail, as she took the time to read my review and made slight adjustments, like making the apex thicker for better structure. Definitely book with her :)

Most of their staff is great and the two times I've gone the service has been really good and the pedicure done well. Other things I appreciate are their massage chairs which actually give a decent massage, and the discount for cash payment (only five percent but it's something)! I will definitely be returning as this nail place is close to my eyelash extension spot!

Most salons will try to save time by clipping and yanking off old acrylics from your nails and this is painful for the client. Sammi goes the proper and gentle route by soaking the clients nails in acetone. Yes, this takes time so plan this while getting a pedicure. Other than that, she does consistent great work. She can do most nail art and when you have reached "regular" status she knows how you want your nails before you even ask.
