Just recently moved to Torrance, and I was looking for a quality nail salon to go to for a full set of acrylics. Came here with a friend of mine, and left very pleased. We were skeptical at first, so we called in advance to see if we needed to schedule or if we could walk-in. Attendant on the phone insisted on walking in, and indeed we were attended to as soon as we entered! The price for a full set of acrylics is very reasonable, $20 and up depending on your preferences, and for a full set of medium length ombre acrylics, I only paid $45! I refrained from giving five stars however, because my attendant had been going a bit too ham on my cuticles, resulting in quite a few cuts on every other one of my fingers and may I say it was a bit painful. But, compared to many other salons my friend and I had frequented, this was the best! Fast service, kind attendants, great attention to detail, they didn't rush at all! Lastly, something questionable about this place was how they returned the unused acrylic powder and liquid back into their containers. I'm not an expert, but dipping a brush that had came in contact with my cuts, into the cup of liquid, and then putting the liquid back for later use doesn't seem all hygienic to me. It was alright. I got acrylic manicure and gel pedicure. My manicure had bubbles and debris in them,because he had me rinse off my hands at the VERY END, instead of rinsing them after he is done with the nail drill!This was my second time coming here,but I guess this time ,he was getting impatient. It appears when management is not present the workers are telling people to come back around closing to get there services. I waited for almost 2hours to get help for a fill. Would like to leave -5 stars but u have to put 1 star to leave a review. Went in on my lunch hour. 2 girls and a older man getting pedi's when I walked in and asked if I could get a fill. Sure the Asian lady says, right now have a seat over there. Ok, I go sit down the girl starts taking my clear polish off while holding her phone to her ear with her shoulder. I start thinking....how long is she going to hold the phone like that until she says goodbye and tends to me the customer properly using both hands.....finally she hangs up. She starts cutting away my lifted nails with the cuticle cutter as though it's a race....she poked the shit outa my cuticle....then she starts with the drill...as she was doing one hand I lightly crossed my wrists like resting the one hand on my other wrist while she did the nails on the other hand. She then tells me to uncross my wrists. I did...then out of habit when I switched hands I did it again...she gave me an attitude and told me to not cross my wrists again. I said look what is the big deal...I am a grown woman it isn't in ur way or preventing u from doing ur job so no I will not I don't have to... she then tells another lady to do my nails...as I waited and waited the other lady took her sweet ass time cleaning the pedi chair b4 coming to do my nails and not mention the first lady was a speaking to her in Their native tounge crossing her wrists explaining to her why she wasn't going to do my nails. So I decided that I was not going to wait and not going to give my hard earned money to this establishment. THESE BITCHES THAT WORK AT THIS PLACE ARE RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PLACES TO GET MANI'S AND PEDI'S AND OTHER NAIL SERVICES. This used to be my go to place for a full set of acrylic nails (french tip done with gel). Helen would do an amazing job & unless something has changed, I would probably still recommend her. Unfortunately, as I moved away from acrylic nails & just wanting a mani/pedi, this shop proved itself to be mediocre at best. The manicures are nothing special, with terrible polish jobs that are done so thick, you're almost sure to smudge within 10 seconds of walking out & I can say this is the same for each technician there since I tried several times. The pedicures are basically just sitting in a spa chair & soaking your feet in hot water & then getting a paint job. Not much going around the nail bed, cuticle, filing, etc. There is also a fee to use your credit card...so pretty much paying extra for a service that wasn't worth paying for to begin with. Like I said, Helen does well with full sets, but even with that being the case...why go through the hassle of having to go one place for nails & find somewhere else for pedi? You can find a better place to spend your money...I definitely will! read more

Save your money and skip this place. I went with a friend for gel manicures and pedicures last Saturday. We called ahead and they said they had plenty of time and to come in so we did, we had found this place here on Yelp and thought it sounded good. First they barely said anything to me, and just sat us down and began to work on her. After waiting about 20 minutes they started on me. Quick manicure, nothing special then gel put on my nails. Pedicure was mediocre at best, no massage, no towels, which was fine. My friend had the callus remover, I skipped it. When it was time to pay, they charged me $5 more then my friend, when she had added a service I had not. I questioned it and they said it was because I had held on my toes and the lady had to soak it off, I did not have gels on my toes just regular polish. They argued and the lady that did my toes started going off in a different language. I ended up paying what my friend paid, which was still wrong since she had added a service. Then a few days later my friends gels started to chip, and mine became dull, we wear these all the time and this never happens at other places we have gels done at. I will never be back, and unless your into disappointing work and being yelled at in a different language, I would skip it too. read more

only gave 2 stars b/c helen is amazing. i would not get a pedicure there though.... after giving some one a pedi, i literally saw them "reset" the pedi chair with a nice "clean" (hopefully) towel, and files with out even using any type of soap or disinfectant. they just rinsed it out with water. they reuse the scrubbing stone for your foot. this is disgusting. they do not put any soap in the water when they give you a pedicure either. the only soap you will find is to wash your hands. I was only there b/c I needed a fill and the girl was talking about my nails the whole time--this one is messed up, this open is too narrow, etc. and I told her well you fix it b/c this is why i'm here, right? to get my nails done. it was late I was ready to go, and I just left. I did however had to go back the next day to repair my nails b/c she didn't put enough acrylic on the sides and my nails began to crack b/c she filed them down so much. SHe told me to come back later at a specific time. I cam back, then she was doing someone elses nails. I asked her how long it would take her, then she told me she was going to finish putting acrylic on a full set she just started and then she would get to me. I was so upset!!!! She knew it and told someone else to fix my nails she had messed up. The guys fixed it and they were better, but still not to my liking.........Too bad Helen was NOT there on either of those days. My review would not be fair if I did not say that the lady who prig did my fill (sorry cant remember her name) has done a full set on me before to perfection. Maybe she was just being lazy that nigh. I don't know but here is my story for you all. Do as you wish with the info. bottom line: I will not be back. I hope Helen finds another shop, until then i'm doing my own nails. If you feel like you have to go there. Make sure you see them clean everything, you get brand new foot pumas, and have Helen do your nails. Its not worth a toe falling off due to supposedly professionals being redundantly unsanitary. read more

I've been going here for years but lately the service hasn't been great I either get an attitude from Helen (who can never do my nails again) and Tom does a good job but when customer come on he rushes and does a half job, today my experience wasn't the best I called this morning and asked Tom can he do a manicure and full set at 3:30 when I get there he said u called for you're hands and toes I said yes then he starts my full set when I get done I said which chair do for my toes well all hell broke loose he said you want a pedicure to I said yes I told you that earlier then he said what color I said the same as my hand he said with an attitude gel to I said yes (mind you I always get gel or my hands and toes because it last longer) he said go to chair number 4 with an attitude this is the last time I'm coming here I can't do attitudes when I'm the reason you're eating it's not the other way around I guess I'm going to try the nail shop by my job read more

This place is a hit and miss when it comes to service. I've been here several times and sometimes my nails are great and other times the gel polish is peeling by the next day. Today I came in with two other ladies. They each wanted a full acrylic set and I asked for a full gel set. We were all going to pay together. They started on my two friends nails and had me wait. I assumed that it was because I asked for gel so I was okay with that. Next thing I know one of the ladies came over to give me a manicure. I told them I'm sorry I want a full set not a manicure and they said okay. So I kept waiting. They finished my friends nails polish and all and still had me waiting. Meanwhile they started on the full set of three other people that came in after me. At this point I decided that I wasn't going to get anything done. We paid for my friends nails and we're going to leave when they finally told me to sit to get my nails done. Horrible service. Never coming here again. I waited more than one hour. This place is actually not bad. I didn't make an appointment on a Thursday and i walked right in and they were able to help me right away. The place is nice and clean. They carry some OPI colors. Honestly I've been looking for a nail spot in the South Bay area that carries OPI and I'm not having any lucky. The best part of this is that a pedi and medi is only $20 bucks Mon-Thurs. I have been there before, and it depends on who you get. I went in today and had Helen, who had previously done a great job. I showed her the color I wanted, but she put on a different color; similar, but not the color I chose. I already had the color on when I went to have them re-done, and wanted the same one. I saw her looking around for it, then, she picked another. When I told her it wasn't the same color, as she was doing my nails, she insisted it was and that the color I had on my nails "had faded". I have NEVER had a nail polish or gel fade in my entire life and I am 59yrs old.. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I didn't make a fuss or say anything after that (I even still tipped her) , but I will be going back to Nails for YOU which is located directly behind them in the CVS plaza. Not only did Nails for You do a better job, they also offered me Thai Tea or a bottle of water, AND THEY WERE CHEAPER!! The only reason I didn't use them today was that they were very busy and they were honest about the wait time; I had to go to work. Tip Top was almost empty, so I was able to get in right away. So I went it the other day as a walk in to do a full set for prom. It was very empty and the lady ask what I needed and she sat me down right away. I wanted a sort of blended black and red and she kept saying it was a french tip which is was not. So she kept insisting until finally she understood I just wanted red. She began filing my nails. With the machine and she cut all my fingers and when I told her she said she didn't. It was so uncomfortable to have all these products put on with cuts along my cuticle. Also two of my nails were crooked so she removed them then filled my nails down even more. I had to tell her to stop. In the end my nails looked nice but they definitely xould have been better. Also they need or clean their stations. Overall they are pretty good just need to pay attention to how close to the skin they're cutting. read more

She was very rough and made me nails bleed. my sister-in-law was helped by a gentleman who did a great job. I came here for the first and last time today. My friend and I went for a walk in appointment. The staff was very pushy at getting us to pick colors right away. The pedicure lasted for 20 minutes leaving my nails look very bad. I had to go home and re-file them. The staff did not clean the massage chair or supplies after I was finished. The manicure was just as bad. The staff member kept looking away when he was trimming my cuticles and filing my nails. They didn't say anything when I told them they were hurting me. The manicure was also about 20 minutes. Two of my nails chipped by the time I made it to the car. I recently went here first time to get a refill done by Michelle (full set was done at a diff nail shop). She cut me several times (4x) w/the drill. I told her each time she cut me and never apologized. I was in pain the whole time and for over a wk. Michelle is not careful and seems very inexperienced w/the drill. She also did not do a good job. Left my nails fat and lumpy. I always get compliments on my acrylic nails done by diff nail shop but not on this job! Michelle had even told me, "You didn't get your nails done here." She recognized good nail work wasn't done by them. Also they DON'T have a lot of nail polish colors VERY limited and outdated!! I kept asking for color after color and she kept telling me they don't have it. It was so frustrating!! They should not have rings of colors if they don't carry them. I had only been here for regular mani-pedi and somewhat decent job for the price but BIG mistake to do a refill!! Lastly, they have now raised their prices and not worth it for the poor work they do.
