Wednesday night I ordered online and did not have to wait long. Walked over and the restaurant was nicely tucked away and decorated just right- not kitschy or anything. Clean, quiet atmosphere. The staff was attentive and it was refreshing to see that they actually checked my ID before handing over my order. A man, who I think is the owner, was very polite- asked my name and actually remembered it as he said goodbye. The food was hot and tasty. The hot sauce is a good thing to use (if you like spicy). Eggrolls were crunchy and stuffed full of goodness, the pot stickers too (I like mine a little crunchier though), the sushi roll I had was nicely formed and good for the price, the the pad thai was good- what it lacks it makes up for in serving size. I still have some massuman curry to eat (dinner tonight!) and cannot wait. I will be going back for sure. read more

The food here just seems to be pretty bland in comparison to other Thai restaurants I go to. There's nothing terribly wrong with it, but the noodle dishes have just been mediocre and a little bland. I heart Tiparos! We went here over the weekend for a sushi feast, and a feast it was indeed - crunchy california, spider, philadelphia, spicy tuna, and summer maki were our choices and they were all delicious. The Rice Chicken soup and the Yum Tom soup were quite tasty as well, and they do come in smaller portion than mentioned in the menu as well, if you ask. This place has been consistently good and we have now become regulars here. read more

First off, who doesn't love BYOB! Tiparos provides both a cheap and delicious meal. The service is fast and efficient, but not necessarily the most friendly. I have been there a few times and have never needed to wait for a seat, no matter how big the group. The Pad Thai is amazing, so is the Tiparos noodle delight. I have actually never had anything there I did not enjoy. Absolutely worth going for lunch or dinner. If I remember correctly they have a deal on sushi rolls from 3-6! read more

Met a friend for dinner here last night. it was a Saturday night and not very busy at all. We got a table immediately, perhaps it's busier at lunch? We both had sushi and soup. I had the Rice Chicken soup. It was tasty for a cold April night. I enjoyed the all white chicken meat. I would order this again. My friend had the Tom Kah soup with chicken. It looked tasty as well. We then split the Summer Maki and the Crazy Maki rolls. I enjoyed the Crazy Maki the best. The sushi was fine, not great. Our service experience could have been better. We had to flag our waiter down when we wanted to order and for the check. I would try a Thai dish next time. The entrees at neighboring tables looked good. With so many Thai options in the city, I would Tiparos again if it's convenient, but I won't go out of my way to eat there again. read more

I lived a block away from this place and it was my go to for ordering in (food usually ready in 10-15 min). They recently increased their sushi prices BUT the sushi rolls come in generous portions. I'm a big fan of their Pad See Ew as well. read more

I LOVE Tiparo's!! I lived just down the street from this place for about three years and would eat there all the time. Leaving Tiparo's was the hardest part about moving to Lakeview...I would highly recommend the yellow chicken curry over rice, the mussaman over rice and the chicken pad se euw. Their sushi is pretty good, and they have great Thai beer. The portions are huge, especially for the price. They also have a pretty big delivery zone (which I take advantage of now), so that's great too. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a legit Thai restaurant in Chicago!! read more

I bought a groupon for this place, and I really enjoyed it. I don't think the groupon necessitated a reservation though, as there were quite a few empty tables when my boyfriend and I arrived. We ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls and the vegetable pot stickers as appetizers. The spring rolls were covered in a very sweet, syrupy sauce that made the dish taste more like a dessert than an appetizer; I would not order them again. The pot stickers were delicious, however. And the dipping sauce added the perfect spicy kick to them. My boyfriend ordered the tom yum chicken soup as his entree, which he enjoyed. For around $7, it was a lot of soup - he ended up not finishing it due to the size of the portion. I ordered Tiparo's Noodle Delight with tofu, and it was absolutely delicious! I couldn't quite place the flavor they had on the noodles, but it was really good. I sprinkled some of the spicy red sauce they have at your table, and that added some extra kick. I would definitely order this again, dine-in or takeout. Overall, I do plan on going to Tiparo's again, possibly to try some of their sushi. Definitely worth a try. read more

This place is nothing special, the ONLY reason to go here is if you live close by and want to something relatively fast and basic. They nickle and dime you for everything (extra for rice with entrees - pretty lame). Been ordering from here for as long as I have lived in the neighborhood, and as of today will never order from them again. Never received my delivery order, and was told by management that they could not reimburse me OR give me another meal. I think this is a decent Thai restaurant. They've got the best pad thai that I've had in Chicago, just the right amount of tamarind sauce, chopped peanuts and the meat of your choice. They just started offering sushi too. I've tried a couple of rolls, and they were decent. I'd go elsewhere if I wanted sushi. Service is just so-so. The food comes out really quick, but a lot of times I have to get a server's attention to get more water, the check, etc. read more

I live down the street from TIparos so I have ordered carry out there a bunch of times. The food is always ready quick and it is always delicious. Both their Thai dishes and Sushi are made with high quality ingredients and everything I've ordered is great (the Sweet Potato Maki is my favorite! The new Cruncy Spicy Tuna Maki is also fabulous!). My friends and I were looking for a BYOB place near by, so we decided to eat at TIparos. For a $5 corkage fee per bottle, they let us sit as long as we liked and the service was so friendly. Typically BYOB places start giving you death stare around 10p...Tiparos did the opposite! The owner, Paul, could not be nicer and he let us sit as long as we liked, then gave us coupons for free corkage for when we come back...which will be very soon!!! read more

Every Chicago thai restaurant must be judged against the pinnacle of Chicago thai restaurants: Dao Thai! On that scale, Tiparos ranks as middle-of-the-row. The portions are decent, but the prices are ridiculous. $15 here will get you an entree and an appetizer, assuming you order a lowly entree; anywhere else, that same $15 will get you a Pad Thai chicken, a Pad See Eiw, and a light headache from the all the amazing grease. Recently, my friends and I met at Tiparo's for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised, as I recently went to a highly rated, noisy, check please recommended Thai restaurant, which was pricey and the food wasn't good. Tiparo's was good and very reasonable. Plus they have a full stocked bar and sell carafe's of wine for $10, some corkage fees are near that. The atmosphere and the service was very pleasant. Everyone liked their food. I had shrimp wraps and Tom khum soup and the others had ginger chicken and a vegetable dish. It doesn't leave anyone's pockets with a bad taste. read more

I mean, where do I even start? This was one of the worst delivery experiences of my life. We ordered at 7 p.m. and were told the food would be there within the hour. When we didn't receive delivery by 8:15 we called. They said it would arrive in 10 minutes. We called again at 8:30. They said it would arrive in 10 minutes. When we called at 8:45, Tiparos informed us that they had CANCELLED our order at 8:15. That was awesome. We had waited for two hours to eat, and they cancelled our order without bothering to tell us. YUM! After moving to my new apartment, I was in search of a new Thai place! I have tried many, many Thai restaurants (and there are tons of bad ones out there) and this place is legit. I highly recommend the pad see eiw chicken or beef -- both are delicious -- as well as the tom kha soup and the hot fried curry. The green curry chicken is good too and I've had their crunchy tuna maki rolls which was tasty, as well! I've dined in as well as ordered out and you can't go wrong with either! For delivery, I would give them 4 stars since they always take FOREVER to arrive (I live nearby) and usually are later than the time they quote when ordering; nonetheless, the delivery guys are always friendly and the food is never cold! I'm surprised by some of the poor reviews on here. This place is GOOD. We spent 2 months in Thailand and the Thai food here is authentic, the meat with chili and basil is especially good. I was a bit dubious about the sushi but it turned out to be great and have ordered it a few times. The only thing that I'm not keen on there is the thai green curry which is full or vegetables that would not normally be in a thai curry!
