On a Saturday late morning/early afternoon I had the pleasure of dining at the Tipsy Beans Cafe. Our group was looking for brunch and although not advertised as such this turned out to be a great spot with plenty of options for breakfast and lunch items. The interior is decorated nicely and the space intimate. The staff was both cheery and helpful. We ordered hamburgers. The fries were delicious and the hamburger good. My only complaint is I requested medium but it was served well done. Also, the patty did not seem like it was made in house with fresh ground beef. Rather if tasted like the type you would buy frozen. All in all the drink specials were delicious and choices many and the house margarita (made by Jen) received lots of praise. I would definitely return to try breakfast items and see if they were as good as the lunch. read more

Always a treat to eat here! Everything I have ordered has been fantastic. The omelettes are huge, stuffed with goodness and delicious. The waffles are the best around. Not hard and crusty, but nice and soft for soaking up the syrup with a bit of a cake batter flavor. The bacon is thick cut and cooked to perfection, not too hard and tough, not too squishy. The GRITS are absolutely perfect, I didn't even need to add salt which is unheard of. Actually, if they added grits with crumbled bacon and cheese to the menu they wouldn't be able to keep me out of there!! Specialty coffees I've tried have been fantastic. My boyfriend's mom and dad had been here before, but wanted to take us with them. I believe they are a black owned business as well. I would recommend coming when you're not super hungry because it may take a little while to be seated.... But trust me, it is worth the wait! It is a little smaller inside, but it is nicely decorated and clean. My brother's sister loved her piña colada and my boyfriend's mom like her caramel macchiato, but she wished it was sweeter. The food? Delicious! I got the stuffed French toast and it was delicious; the amount of sweetness is balanced with the cream cheese. I also had the meat lovers omelette. With no exaggeration, it was the best omelette I have ever had. They were not stingy with the amount of filling for the omelette. The egg itself was nicely done; not over cooked. The breakfast potatoes were great but because I love ranch, I decided to try their ranch which was good! Although the place was very packed, the service did not lack at all in my opinion. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. I can see why so many people love it here. I will definitely be back! I went here with my daughter and had a wonderful breakfast. We both got the lavender latte--absolutely amazing! I am currently obsessed with this drink, and it did not disappoint. For breakfast, I had the tipsy French toast while she had the crab cake Eggs Benedict. I loved my French toast, though I wish the portion had been a little larger, especially since it was a bit pricey. It came with fresh strawberries and blueberries. It's also supposed to come with whipped cream and powdered sugar, which mine did not, but it was still tasty. My daughter's crab cake Eggs Benedict was a very generous portion, served on top of a toasted English muffin, plus it came with roasted potatoes. This was definitely worth the price. Stopped here before the Christmas Market. The hour wait was definitely worth it! We were seated at the bar which was fine! I ordered an Eggnog Latte which was great! My friend and I ordered the shrimp and grits which was very good. Normally you get skimped out on shrimp- not here! It was almost too much shrimp and had very little sausage. It was enough to keep me full up until dinner when I had my leftovers. This will definitely be a spot I plan to visit again when back in Williamsburg! read more

Went here as a back up and I'm soooo glad we came here. It was really good! I had the tipsy French toast, and it was yummy. My husband had chicken and waffles he asked the chef to do half red velvet and half sweet potato waffle. We had a party of 8 and everyone said their food was good! Emperors chai latte is one of the best chai lattes I have had. The atmosphere of this cafe is super cute and the service is great (friendly, prompt, go above by offering condiments and answering questions about the area). The breakfast menu has some great options. The bacon, egg, cheese waffle sandwich was delicious. It was an entire Belgium waffle with eggs, cheese and 2 slices of bacon. I could have shared 1 order with my son. My husband had the brisket breakfast and it was really good too. He liked the sweet potato hash. It was so strong and rich and it blew Starbucks out of the water, and that is coming from someone who frequents Starbucks on a more than regular basis. We wanted to eat breakfast here but there was a 40+ minute wait so decided to order some coffees to go instead. My husband and I both got dirty chai's - mine with oat milk and his had regular milk. Both of our coffee's were nasty - pretty sure the espresso they used was old or re-used. The guy who took our order was a little sassy but hey I love a little sass and always welcome it but then he turned towards our barista and challenged her to make our drinks in less than 30 seconds? First... know that this is a small place with a 61/62 person capacity. Seating is at 4 person tables that can be pushed together to accommodate 6 ... and there about 8 seats at the bar. ...Point being, this is NOT a place for large parties. With that said... the food is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. Service appeared friendly from all... but our waitress was abnormally Nice and considerate with a good natured spirit. Whether contrived or not you can never tell... but it didn't seem so. Her name was ..mmm... Holly I believe. (Something w/an "H". Why am I making it a point to mention her? Because Holly made up for the short coming that I am about to mention. We went on a Sunday, and (as with all Sunday's) it was busy. However, after waiting 45 min on a 30 min wait, I was a bit agitated. This wait wasn't entirely managements fault. There was a large party in the cafe that were clearly done eating and just sitting g around playing on their phones ... ignoring the fact that people were waiting on tables. Management waited as long as they could, and had to ask them to politely make room for the others waiting. As with many entitled young people ... they left complaining about putting them out. Once they (the largest group in the place) left, seating flowed quickly. I felt management waited a bit too long to address this issue. For this, I removed a star, but added context to be fair. Otherwise, Meal was delicious... crab well prepared and grits and shrimp were pleasantly unique. Highly recommend this place on any day but Sunday. Only partially recommend it then due to the long wait -time Discrepancy. Please Note: they do have take out service. read more

Only been hwy once so far, but this was prob my breakfast spot so far. Shortys is a tie for first. The omelette was the best I've had here. And who doesn't want wine with breakfast? Don't judge. Prices were fair. Went about 11am on a weekday and it was packed and very loud. I've tried a lot of the pancake houses, almost all of them tbh, and have been disappointed with the exception of Tipsy and Shortys. The only gripe against both of them is how loud both get. One thing I wish they did was encourage people to wait in their cars or outside. Checked out this restaurant this weekend for a much needed girls brunch date!!! Amazing!!! 10 our of 10 for service, food, drinks, and ambiance!!!! Our server David was so nice, checked on us plenty of times, was full of recommendations for drink and food ideas, and even the owner took the time to greet our table and talk to us about his establishment. Very chic spot with a down home feel! Do have the shrimp and grits, the cheese fries, the breakfast sampler or the jackfruit slider. They have a variety of items for everyone with all different kinds of dietary needs - vegan, vegetarian, or even pescatarian. Decided to stop in here while in town cause I'm alway looking for new coffee shops to visit. I came in during the late afternoon on Saturday. It wasn't overly busy but had bit of a crowd. The restaurant isn't that big so it could easily get rather crowded on any busy day. Anyways, upon walking in your greeted and told you can sit anywhere you like. We decided to sit at the bar due to the bar having outlets to plug in our laptops. I order a latte and poutine fries and my friend had a alcoholic drink, mambo wings and fries. I'm not sure what the latte was called because I didn't find it to be that good. The poutine fries were a bit salty and somehow the cheese curds on top where ice cold so I didn't care for them. The wings were okay nothing special. Although, this cafe is well kept and nice we didn't find the coffee or food to be anything special. Also the service was fairly slow. read more
