Tire Maxx on 2609 The Plaza rd. Charlotte,N.C. does not do honorable business. Recently I purchased five brand new tires for my 1984 Chevy El-Camino and a front break job from this company. They broke a wheel stud or lug nut but replaced it after I went to an auto parts stores and purchase the parts at my expense. They told me that they did not have the parts and would not pay for them but if I got the parts they would replace the broken part. The owner's son (little Nate) came to the shop while the work was being done and cursed his father and the caucasian repairman for doing the work free despite the fact that they had crossed threaded and broke my wheel lug nut. He told me I should have paid $200 for the damage their company did to my truck. The father whose name is Nate told me to go after the work had been completed and said I did owe any money. Two weeks later my left rear tire went flat- upon examination I found that the tire was leaking air because of a split closest to the rim. The tire on the rim was returned to Tire Maxx and the owner Nate said that the road must have caused the damage- he also refused to take the tire off the rim. The tire was taken to another used tire dealer -who removed the tire without charge and said the 14" new tire had been mounted from the wrong side which cause the tire to tear. The tire and rim were taken back to Tire Maxx and Nate-owner, refused to replace the new tire despite the fact that I had spent well over $400 for five 14" new tires and a front break job and paid for a broken front lug nut that they crossed threaded. After seeing the tire off the rim he took no responsibility for their poor workmanship. I later found out that Tire Maxx on the Plaza Rd. owners last name was Ford and he was son of the famous Ford Used tire business in Charlotte. Over the years I have purchased many tires from Fords Used Tire Company but never this location and have had good results and good business practices. I do not recommend Tire Maxx on the Plaza Rd. Charlotte,N.C. to anyone because of very poor work and business practices and hostile attitudes( by Nate's son). Reason: they get your money but do not honor their work. I would have filed this complaint with the Charlotte Better Business office but most people that buy used tires do not check to see a business rating for a used tire. If I had to give them a grade it would be an F. Update: Yesterday my left front tire has developed a leak and may have the same problem. Eventually, I am going to have to buy all new tires because of poor workmanship by Tire Maxx,Plaza Rd. Charlotte,N.C.

This is a great place to get used tires. And friendly staff.

It is with a heavy heart that I must submit this review. However, I have spoken with SGI Transport…read moreon several occasions and no course of action has taken place and I have been treated very unfairly with the accident that their business caused. On July 26th, 2025 SGI Transport INC provided a mobile service to change and replace a flat tire on one of my work vehicles. (The end of July until mid-August is our slowest time of the season and the truck was not utilized.) However, August 21st, 2025 when we were back to using the truck the tire and rim COMPLETELY broke off of the truck. My driver was not hurt physically or any other driver thankfully. However, my driver was emotionally scared and quit as a result. After having the truck towed to the Auto Repair Shop, the diagnostic reported that the tire was not properly reinstalled and secured. (This is a heavy 6,000 lb truck). As a result, when my driver was driving the tire was loose and the vibration from the truck and road SNAPPED each stud one by one until the rim and tire flew off into the woods off the side of the road, never recovered. I kindly called Eric at SGI Transport and explained the situation. He recalled it very well of the tire change and mentioned that he informed my driver that a lug nut was missing (however, the next day Kevin mentioned that Eric misspoke and it was actually a stud missing). Regardless of what vital piece was missing, I as the owner and payee was never notified. The receipt that was provided only had the tire size and location in the notes but never informed us of the safety hazard of a missing "lug nut" or "stud". This accident could have resulted in a fatality and I was extremely disappointed when I called SGI Transport and spoke with Eric. He was very defensive and stated that it was my fault for "not paying attention to my business." I was shocked that he would speak to a customer in that manner. He then proceeded to use excessive profanity and then hung the phone up on me. I called back and was presented with the same treatment and then hung up on again. The following day I called back and I believe that I spoke with Kevin. He was calmer and more collect and we actually had a discussion about the situation. He then asked for me to email him the pictures and repairs but they guy or SGI Transport never responded to show the slightest of concern for my driver or situation that they caused. I am all for supporting other small business owner's and I was very patient with waiting for them to do the right thing, but I refuse to be bullied and ignored and punished for negligence during their installation. Knowing that a "lug nut" or "stud" was missing from the tire and it being a safety hazard and SGI still proceeding with the job was unprofessional and extremely irresponsible from a fiduciary stance. It turns out that the company also has a BBB (Better Business Bureau) complaint against them from January 2025.

I had a blowout on I-77N and they came out (took a minute so I went to a safe place) they texted me…read morewhen 20 minutes out. They did all the tests on the new tire and installed it on the side of 77N. Then bc my hazards had been on for 3 hours the battery died (BTW they jumped me too) but I was safe and he was knowledgeable and fast when he got there) so grateful
