For some reason, he decided I needed closer attention, so he moved to the back of the line and stood just a few feet away, watching me scan every single item in my cart. I couldn't help but wonder--was it the watermelon in my cart, or was it because I was a Black woman with dreadlocks? After I paid, he approached me--not to thank me for shopping, not to ask for my receipt--but to question me about the watermelon. He asked if I knew the code. I explained there was no sticker, so I used the lookup feature. Then he asked how much it cost. I told him $6.97. He waved his device in front of me, mumbled that my price was slightly higher, and said that was "ok." So what exactly was this interaction supposed to mean? Was I being accused of stealing? Of intentionally underpaying? Why was I singled out and made to feel like a criminal over a watermelon I had already paid for? This experience was humiliating, accusatory, and deeply disappointing. No receipt check. No respectful clarification. Just suspicion. Is this what customer service looks like now? Is this my normal? I am a paying customer, and I deserve to be treated like one--not like a suspect.

A very large shared parking lot for this strip mall at front of store. The shopping carts are improved ergonomically. I like the side handlebar grips. They are also very large and durable. Customer service was great here today. Everybody was smiling and friendly and offering assistance. I received great assistance at two different locations. I also received great assistance at the self checkout area. There weren't any full checkout lanes opened during my visit. Self checkout was the only option. I earned a free five dollar gift card while checking out and a service attendant helped me to retrieve it. I also use the Target Red Card to receive an automatic 5% discount on my entire purchase.

He helped my husband shop for his work boots, and my husband did choose a quality pair upon AJ's suggestion however, the problem began when the manager Don realize that there were African-Americans in the store. She made sure to come over and speak to us and ask us was there something that we needed not could she help us or were we being helped but was there something that we needed mistake number one after my husband chose his boots and we walked to the front aj started to ring my husband up, Don made sure that she made a V line back to see what our purchase was and how we were cashing out when AJ informed her that we had everything taken care of and that my husband was a state employee and he had a voucher at that point in time, she informed us that we needed to show her his work ID or some form of credential to prove that he was who he said he was, and that the voucher was actually written to him. Now this may be store policy that's perfectly fine however we have shopped over at the McDowell store for years for work boots and they've never asked us for any form of identification. They've made sure that we had our voucher, we signed our name and we took our boots and we were finished however, Don wanted to make sure that we weren't using our brother or sisters voucher to obtain boots through theft. It was highly insulting for the underhanded accusation as well as to make it your business to come over and ask us what we needed as if we didn't have the Wright or the finances to shop in boot barn at this point if you can't treat African-Americans like regular human beings that have the right to shop at a place and that we do make money and don't have a problem spending it especially not when it comes for work. There's definitely a problem she definitely needs diversity training. Let's not assume that everyone that enters an establishment that is African-American is there too cause a problem or there to steal thank you AJ for your service you were absolutely amazing however Don do better next time.
