So my only gripe is that you should bring your own forks and knife, because tj's dogs are so substantial that the plastic forks and knives tj provides for free will feel insufficient. Every dog I've had from tj's has been delicious and filling. The Italian beef dog is a must try. read more

Checked it out with some other slackers on a nothing else to do Sunday. Always curious just how good can a food truck be, and when it is good, it usually means a long wait to get food. I ordered a chili cheese dog with mustard and onion. The wait was short, and I think it was one of the best hot dogs I've ever had. The thing that I noticed the most, was the bun was super soft, it was also bigger so nothing ran over the bun which made it a lot less nasty to eat, and it was a pretty big dog. Everything tasted really fresh, good chili, shredded cheese, not that cheese wiz crap that Sonic sadly uses nowadays, diced fresh onions. Pricing was good, around $6 (?) I think. I also tried some of the italian beef sandwich. It was better than some regular deli offerings. Really good all around. I think the short wait has to do some with it appearing he keeps a few dogs ready to go and just has to grill them up a little, instead of starting off cold. I dunno, but I don't care, the dogs are great quality, there are several different types available. I would happily come back, but meeting friends out here to eat is a long drive and about $4 in tolls, so I sadly won't be doing it regularly, but probably would if close by. read more

We decided to visit TJ's Dawg House while visiting family in Dallas this past weekend. TJ's is a food truck in a parking lot,and you had to feel for the guy putting together food orders in the heat like that. But he seems to love what he is doing, and what he is doing is making the most awesome dawgs ever! My wife ordered an Italian Sausage with cooked onions and peppers. These are not your typical grocery store sausages. These are long enough to extend past both ends of an oversized bun. TJ slices slits or lengthwise into his dawgs to make sure everything is cooked through and through and I like this not only for food safety reasons but also because I think you can hold more onions, relish, mustard etc in the bun when the dawgs are prepped like that. Anyway She loved hers and would only give me one bite so it must have been really good. Son in law got Chicago's Combo. It's an Italian sausage with Italian beef added plus au jus and giardiniera on top. He is 6'4" and could eat no more after downing this puppy (hehe). But the star of the lunch was, I must say, my Chicago Dawg. I have eaten Chicago dogs all over the United States ( I used to travel for work) and this was the best Chicago Dawg of them all. A big Vienna Beef dog perfectly grilled on an oversized soft bun, add garden fixings as much as you want. Hot dog heaven. We ate in five different restaurants on my long weekend visit in Dallas. All of them were good. TJ's was great. We will be back in Dallas next month.I already know where I will be eating first. read more

So I wasn't too thrilled that he wasn't wearing a mask while preparing our food even though he's in a food truck. I ordered the Chicago hotdog and bratwurst. The hotdog is Vienna, but it's cooked/fried over a flap top. I personally prefer the hotdog steamed. The bun was more of a hoagie bun, than hotdog poppyseed bun and seemed stale. You had to put all the condiments on your own, and if you don't know how a Chicago dog is prepared...oh well. Bratwurst fell below my expectations. I was hoping it would be the legit white brats you buy from a deli, but it was more grocery store quality and again cooked over a flaptop versus a grill. I may go back to try the beef if I'm in the area, but wouldn't drive out specifically for it. read more
