As a college sophomore, this was one of my favorite places. They opened up a new location, and started messing up my orders. I chose to give them their space as they adjusted. Fast forward 4ish years. I moved back. So I decided to try again. It was not good. The crust tasted mushy which was why I originally stopped going. It's sad to know that things haven't changed. Been eating Tjs over a year and love everything. Ordering is easy on grubhub. The specials are unique and delicious. Sandwiches are a good. Turns out the calzone was never even made and the manager told me to my face that the thin crust i had was a regular pizza. What a load of crap. Wasnt gonna argue took my order and left. Never again. I ordered from this place today, & although the food was great, the female that took my order was incompetent & made my order an extra 20+ minutes later than the assumed arrival. she seemed to show disinterest about collecting the correct information. I'd appreciate it if I got offered a meal on the house for the next time I ordered, a discounted meal, or a total refund, but I won't be surprised if I don't. hire a better staff & tell your delivery men to carry pens if they want a signed receipt and a tip. read more

We figured it was just some crappy Little Caesar's or J&J's-esque. But then, one night in an act of desperation, I succumbed to morbid curiosity and ordered a small Meatza. Oh my Lord. Our go to spot for late night delivery. The pizza is great and the employees are really nice. We've ordered so many times and haven't encountered a rude or unfriendly delivery person yet! In the DFW area this is the best pizza you can find in my opinion. Great sauce and excellent crust. The Veggie Wedgie or any of the pizzas with goat cheese are great. Even a cheese pizza plain is good. Also I recommend the garlic cheese sticks with marinara. Soooo good. read more

Appropriately located on 420 S Carrol, TJ's is a great spot for the munchies. Formerly part of the Texas Jive bar, TJ's serves the Denton eccentric crowd very well. With a great selection of Pizza toppings (unique to pizza-chain things like artichokes, rosemary sauce, goat cheese) and wing flavors (standard hotness levels and some fun ones like Thai BBQ), it definitely beats out any pizza delivery chain. The standard sauce is half-homemade, half-canned, all delicious. And the quality of the mozzarella in use is the best bulk product you can get outside of Italy. Great sizes, too. A large lives up to the name for sure! Prices are decent and they are always offering deals. Check local coupon books or the menu for the deals. Me and my boyfriend struggled to find the new location downtown since we weren't aware that they had moved from the location on Fort Worth Drive/Carroll. When we arrived, we ordered a large Veggie Weggie and it was about a 15 minute wait. The large is a 14 inch pan, and the price is around $16-18 which is comparable to Crooked Crust pizza. The pizza is good, but honestly tastes similar to places like Pizza Hut and Dominoes. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for extraordinary pizza but if you're just looking for average tasty pizza with a lot of toppings then, with the 15% Student discount, this place might be worth it. read more

Wise men said "don't judge the book by its cover." I agree with that quote and that's true in the case of TJs Pizza. Because of local pizzeria rather than franchise, the store might look plain. However, once you taste their premium quality pizzas and wings, you will realize that this place is like the pearl in the Denton's pizza. My favorite menu is Scrumptious Sweet and Sour Chicken Pizza. Stopped in today for lunch first time here, had the meatball sub and wow was I impressed. Being Italian I had them leave off the onions and peppers. This is my first Yelp review of any kind. It takes a lot to get me upset enough to spend time writing. I happened to find out about TJs a year or so ago when I wanted to try something new. The food was really good and still is but I am going to have to make a choice whether that is more important than their incompetence. I have ordered from them 15 times or so and on at least 5 occasions they have botched the order and did so again just now. When I order $35 worth of food that might cost $5 to make I should expect and get what I ordered and I even repeated the order to the worker when he should be repeating it to me and he still screwed it up. I would call to complain but i did that once and it was to no avail. You know what they say, the problem usually trickles down from the top. The food is good, there is no disputing that. Just make sure they don't screw up the order b/c they're also very good at that. I have a choice on where to order and if they could get the order right it would be a no brainer. The stuff was fast, but unfortunately, was watery and undercooked. More important, when we called to fix the mistake, the owner/manger was rude, telling us, "I think we did our part." Pretty good pizza. I am from Utah and since my boyfriend knows I love to support local businesses, he ordered this local pizza. It is great. I ordered the chicken garlic alfredo pizza and it was good. It had tomatoes the were cut in random pieces so the pizza had more of a fresh tomato consistency, but the soft crunchy crust made up for it all. Tasty mozzarella sticks to which I was able to add spinach and black olives as garnish. Plus the delivery fee is almost nothing! If I come back, I am ordering their pizza again. read more

I don't normally post reviews, but I order food from here for the first for delivery and the driver was very rude. He was mad that I couldn't understand him on the phone because he was breaking up. Then he said he could not find the place. Mind you I have order delivery before from other restaurants and no one had trouble before. He was just very unprofessional. I love TJs, and would give them five stars, but tonight after a ridiculously long day at work I ordered pizza online. Picked up the pizza and cheese sticks. Didn't bother to check them because I've never had a problem. Drive home, clear across town. When I get home, the pizza is wrong, the cheese sticks are wrong. I call the store thinking maybe they gave me the wrong order. Nope, no apology, no reason. Just "if you want to bring it back we will fix it for you" I wasn't driving back all the way across town just for them to fix it. Little disappointed that there wasn't a better customer service.
