The reason I know this is because the leak was NOT dripping into the attic until after they left. Before they got to my house the overflow drain line was leaking all the water outside, nothing inside. After they left it stopped leaking outside and started leaking inside. My heater would not come on, and my home insurance company referred me to TL Services. The technician arrived on time and was very professional. He fixed my prblem very quickly and gave me a good advice how to fix it myself in the future. It was nothing serious, just some water got into the system after the rains and it shut off. Overall I'm very pleased with the experience and would recommend TL Services to all my friends. Great job guys! read more

*UPDATE 23 SEP 2015* First I would like to thank Anna for posting on 22 Sep asking me if I would like to have the technician come out on 19 Sep. I'll jump in my Delorian so we can arrange that. Second, it is not very professional to use Yelp for official correspondance to schedule appointments. You have your customers phone number... use it. Finally TL Services cancelled my appointment. In American Home Shields notes it states that the customer was irate and they did not feel comfortable sending a technician out. Since there was no correspondace other than the phone calls 3 weeks ago to schedule appointments I am assuming Anna did not like my Yelp review. *End Update* I carry American Home Shield insurance on all my appliances to include my air contidioning unit. A couple of weeks ago I was getting a loud rattling noise when my A/C fired up from inside the cielling. I called American Home Shield and the next day a representitive from TL Services called and we set up an apoointment for the end of the week. The guy showed up on time and took a look in the cieling from where the filter was located. He saw the cause of my problem was a motor situated further down and there was no access panel to reach it. He said he would go back to TL Services and get an access panel on order then call to reschedule installation. After 3 days of not hearing back I called the company. No anwer so I left a message with my call back info. The next day I called back and left 2 messages and on a 3rd attempt got through and the lady said the technician would call me back. The day after that I called and they looked at my info and said American Home Shield hasn't authorized them to do maintenance on my A/C unit beacuse there is no access panel. Well no kidding the technician said he was going to get one on order. I call American Home Shield and tell them I will pay for the installation of access panel myself. I call back and explain this to TL Services except it will be another week before the technician can come out. Bottom line after 3 weeks maybe a technician will fix my A/C. read more

I used this company a few days ago because my a/c was blowing warm air...A really nice lady answered the phone and was able to schedule for a technician to come out the same afternoon! He came in, did his thing and 20 minutes later cold air was back on! He was really nice and took extra time to explain what he did and provided recommendations for my unit...In fact, I know our a/c is pretty old and when we decide to change it, we'll be def. calling these guys! read more

Put in a ticket through my home warranty for them come look at my heating duct work because air wasn't warm in all areas. The gentleman cane during the agreed upon timeframe, and seemed very knowledgeable. He told me the plus and minuses of having the type of ducting I have, and told me the typical useful life. Another AHS referral. I had them out twice for the same unit which is still not fixed. They told me the aircon needed to be replaced told AHS it was just old and that nothing was wrong with it. After nearly 3 weeks of trying to work out what was going on... I called TL back and they told me yes, they would tell AHS it needed replacing, but yet again told AHS it was fine. Am now getting a second opinion. I wish I checked out yelp before they came out. I just did with the other guy and he has a 5 star rating. Avoid them. TL Services just completed an install of two furnaces and a duct system at my house. They were amazing, from start to finish. Yes, scheduling was a headache because of American Home Shield (horrible), which delayed things and put up hurdles for us. But The folks at TL Services are not to blame. They did everything possible to make the process go smoothly. First, they were very responsive on the phone. The owner himself came out to give us an estimate. I shopped around, received 3 other estimates, and these guys gave me the most competitive bid. Second, the installation went smoothly. They sent a crew that included an engineer to do our install! This gave me a lot of confidence- having a highly trained professional do this job. Third, they were quick, and they were neat! My house was left sparkling clean. This is a contractor with American Home Shield which I believe is equally dishonest in their dealings with the public. My experience: Jan 14th service call to AHS for a furnace that wasn't operating (rental property) TL Services went to the property then passed a message to AHS that parts were missing from the furnace. AHS decided it was no longer a warranty issue and would not cover repairs per the service contract I have with them. My call to SDG&E brought a highly qualified technician that thoroughly examined the furnace and placed it in service. No "missing parts", no problem. I contacted TL Services as well as AHS and requested a copy of the original service ticket (3 times). There has never been one produced (I would still like to know exactly what parts were "missing"). I have been charged on VISA for the "service" call. Now a second billing has been sent from AHS for the same "service". Today's request (4th?) for any service ticket has been met with promises but no action. I suggest avoiding both companies and further ask any reader that has knowledge of the licensing process in San Diego to help weed out and confront these operators who would take advantage of the less informed (this is a classic scenario of companies building up the billing - problem is they are dealing with a knowledgeable property owner). There are laws on the books to protect us from the unscrupulous; we need to make certain they are enforced. We deserve better in San Diego, let's demand it. read more

AHS sent this company to fix my gas forced air heater. I was worried because of all the bad reviews. T.J. got there within the appointed time, checked my heater and explained that there was a plate missing that allowed air into the furnace area and could have caused the pilot light to be blown out frequently. He didn't have a plate but he did cover it with some aluminum tape. He then showed me how to properly light the pilot light. The Furnace works like it used to. T.J. was polite and helpful. He worked quickly and efficiently. I am quite satisfied with the service he provided. read more

The repair man that came to our house was not very cooperative or wiling to repair our air conditioner. Instead he made excuses and found reasons why our warranty would not cover the work. He kept on telling us that he could not repair our a/c until an electrician came out to connect the a/c unit to the power. I called an electrician over to look at the problem and said it was a small, simple connection and that any a/c repairman could do the job, so i called TL services back and told them what i had learned from the electrician. Again, they refused to come fix my A/C or refund my money i had initially paid them since they never did any work on my A/C. At this time i was very upset and angry with TL Services so I called another A/C repair company who came out to my house on a Sunday and had the A/C up and running in 10 minutes!! The repair man from TL was very talkative and gossipy about other customers who he had argued with in the past. STOP gossiping and fix my A/C!! Never, ever use TL services for any reason. I was worried after reading these reviews because I too have AHS who sent this repairman to fix our broken a/c. But my experience was good! First, he arrived on time and he even called me to let me know he was on his way, which I liked. I didn't catch his name, but he was polite ( wiped his feet on the mat before coming inside). Looked at the thermostat on the wall and went outside. I left him to do his thing and about 6 minutes later I felt cold air flowing through the vents! He told me he replaced a part which he wrote on the invoice, I signed it , paid my co pay, we chit chatted briefly and he left. Great service, I am happy! read more

My air conditioner recently took a junker and it was running 87 in my house. So I called my warranty company and told them I needed a tech to come out right away as my mother and I both have health conditions and it needed to be fixed right away. They escalated our claim and told me TL services was sending out a tech. TL services had a tech out within two days. TJ was our awesome tech and he did determine that the unit was old and needed to be replaced. I thought oh great were in trouble now. TJ assured me the claim would be filed and the unit would be replaced in about a week. I was thinking to myself yeah right. But he took care of everything and got the claim filed and in fact the unit was replaced in less than a week. TJ was so nice and understanding about the need to get it done quickly due to health concerns from the heat. He took his time to explain what was wrong and how the process worked and told us it would be taken care of as soon as they could get the unit. It took less than a week and TL sent two great techs out who showed up on time, got it replaced and working awesome with a brand new unit. And not some junky brand. One of the top three brands recommended. It works better than ever. TJ and his team were great and took care of us in less than the time he said. I do not understand all of the negative reviews but I personally had a great experience with TL services and my tech TJ was really nice,honest and fantastic. In March had a technician come out, he was very friendly and professional, when he left the air conditioning was working, we turned it off as there was no need for air conditioning until today. Tried turning it on and it did not work at all. Called them and they were unwilling to help saying I had to go through my insurance contractor again. In other words there is no way I would get help today and I would have to pay the service charge again. Note, that I have two dogs and a baby with 100 degree heat. read more

BEWARE!!! I don't know how to put in NEGATIVE STARS for TL Services so I'm giving them just ONE. I have AHS and called to have them check my furnace. Something came up so I called TL to cancel appt. and told them I would return call to reschedule. Tom (I think the owner) took the call and seemed confused but I told him I would call AHS about another issue and call him back to reschedule. Tom shows up anyway and is rude to me and my wife. A month later I get a $75 bill from AHS for his "services." I call to complain and AHS won't do anything because TL says that they had an appointment and showed up. TL seems to have no record of my call. AHS doesn't have my back because I need to call them to cancel appointments, no one ever told me that and common sense says I communicate with the company directly to reschedule. I am going to start this review at 2 stars, update it throughout this process and let you know what happens. My experience with TL Services and TJ began this past Saturday, 1/28/17. This is an AHS warranty call. A heating unit servicing our master bedroom and a few other rooms began setting off carbon monoxide alarms. To Start, our appointment window was 9 am to 1 pm. We received a call at 8:45 am to let us know the tech was having car trouble and would arrive at 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. TJ arrived around 2:30 pm. I showed him the heating unit which he inspected and after spending about 15 minutes determined that the heat exchanger had a crack in it. The unit would need replacement. He mentioned my heater was a horizontal unit and that he hoped AHS would provide a unit that fit in the attic (I assumed he would inform them of this). He said they would call me in a few days. He did not provide any write up. It was a very short visit. It cost me $125. Today, 2/1/17 I got a call this morning from AHS. It was an authorization call. They wanted authorization for me to pay $1,190 for not covered work. I was flabbergasted. What in the world for? The first agent I spoke with told me directed me to section i, 4, b of of my contract which states: " Costs of construction, carpentry, or other modifications necessary to remove, relocate, or install equipment; or"...It also states at the beginning of section "Except as otherwise specified in this contract". She was trying to describe what needed to be done using words like flues, plenums, moving gas lines, etc. It was clear that she 1) had no idea anything about my setup etc. and 2) had little to no real information. I further asked what furnace was being installed and what was driving the cost to $1,190. He response was she did not know and that they would need to reach out to the service tech? I asked what my options were and she said I could ask for a cash in lieu. I agreed to hear the amount they offered, she said expect a call. After further reading the contract, I called AHS back to request further information. The gentlemen I spoke with was slightly more helpful but had no further information about the work, the model of the unit, and could provide no detail other than the vendor told him my share was $1,190. I asked for a full detailed break down of what work was to be completed for $1,190, what items would be replaced, and what furnace was being installed. He said he would track them down. All these seem logical to come up with a bid, they seemed certain of the $1,190. If I had this I could evalute a number of options to ensure that both AHS and I were getting the right number from TJ and TL. Around 1:12 pm, I called TL and requested a copy of the inspection report and the proposed service. After providing information to identify my home and my email, I was told they would contact TJ and have it sent right over. I have not received anything yet. Around 2:00 pm, I received a call from the cash in lieu dept of AHS. They were prepared to give me $610.55 for their share. I was dumbstruck? How is that possible? The most expensive part of this is assuredly the furnace. After further discussing with the agent she told their number was based on what TL was charging them for the unit and the install. They could not provide any more cash to me. How is that possible? I asked about the cost to remove the existing unit (covered by my policy) she said TL didn't charge AHS anything for that. She told me they would have to get more information to understand what was going on and I told her I wasn't interested in $610.55. So I am left trying to figure out what is happening. Did TJ / TL provide AHS with a total quote of $1800.55, did they provide a break down of what was covered or not? Did AHS determine what was covered or not? If AHS did, where is a detailed description of the work to be completed. Did AHS require TJ / TL to use a furnace that makes no sense in my attic? How is that good for anyone? Once the furnace was selected wouldn't someone from TL need to come back and determine what actually needed to be done to fit it before providing a quote? Something is wrong here and I am determined to figure out if the blame resides with TL or AHS. My hope is that TL can provide a detailed work quote that justifies their analysis, if they recommended a furnace, which one and why? If they think they are doing $1,190 on my dime, they will need to account for all of it. I will be pleased to update this review. I hope that TL is able to explain their process and confirm that they are a reputable vendor. Fortunately I have quite a bit experience with maintenance on residential homes and feel horrible for the people who willingly accept whatever they are told just to get their heat back on. Instead of just bashing AHS/TL as scammers I will work with them and provide honest and informative feedback. I look forward to their response. read more

TL was the only company that didn't try and pressure me into buying , and there price was almost have the cost of the other estimates that I received. this company was sent out by AHS to check and fix my AC unit in a home that i just purchased. they schedule the repair rather quickly and on a sat which was great. the repair guy was on time another plus but that where the good ends. their tech check the thermostat and after struggling to check the batteries with a volt meter he determined that they were good..... so he decided that thermostat was bad no problem so far after jumping the wires to make sure that the ac unit came on he changed the thermostat pretty simple job right. well after striping the wires back for a new connection and leaving the wire bits on the carpet... he put 2 new holes in the plaster so chunks of plaster also went onto the carpet more stuff on the carpet great no drop cloth to catch the debris not the way professionals should do work... once it was installed he turned it on and checked on vent and said OK it's fixed... my response was are you sure??? he then said if you want i will get out the gauges and check you system if you want a show you just need to trust me its fixed i donnt want to come out here a gain for what AHS pays... I'm WTF really i just want you to thoroughly check my system check everything... the registers.... the puron pressure ...the filters ...etc.... not do a half ass repair make a mess and leave... when he went out side to check the condenser i told him i just wanted a through explanation of how the system works , the condition of my system and instruction on operation maybe 10 to 15 min of his expertise not an attitude. after our talk he checked all the registers filters puron pressure and gave me the explanation that i was looking for... geez..... customer service is a skill this tech need s to work on.... in summary if you want grease marks on your freshlypainted walls a mess left on your carpet and a smart ass attitude cal TL services they got you covered read more

FRAUD, I have a home warranty through AHS. i called to have someone come out and service my AC unit as it was not working. This company came out to my house, and after arguing with him about what breaker it was, he finally agreed that i was correct. He then proceeded to tell me that i needed to add 6 pounds of freon and the cost would be $324.00. I asked him to hold, so i could call my warranty company and verify that i was responsible for these charges. He did not have the time for me to do this and he said he needed to leave. so that was that. I had another company come out and look at the AC unit, it turns out the only thing wrong was a $8.89 breaker. we changed the breaker and my AC has been perfect ever since. read more

This company sent a service man who was 100% non professional. My Air Conditioning isnt working right. I have American Home Sheild and they sent this company to my home. I told him my system is old and not working right and really needs replacing. So for $75 I turned on my AC and he looked at my furnace. Then he walked outside to my condensing unit. Checked my gas level and told me that my unit was dirty. I llve on a hillside, so dirt runs downhill when it rains. There was about 1/2 inch of dirt on the bottom. He then wrote on his service tag that my unit was old and not effective and that my unit was in the dirt and not effective. After he left I turned off the power and took the hose to my outside unit. I cleaned it all up. I ran the AC and it still isnt working. We requested a return visit. He came back to my home turned on the AC and saw it wasnt working right. He NEVER even looked at my outside unit. Then he left my home, and did not give me a copy of the service order report or an invoice copy. Its over 92 degrees these weeks and I still dont have AC due to this incompetent jerk. I called my brother in law, a Union professional HVAC technition. He told me you need Discharge pressure readings, suction pressure readings, superheat readings, supply air temp reading and return air readings to properly diagnose problems with an air conditioning unit. This guy did not do any of that, and when I called him for the numbers he got defensive and would not give me the numbers and insisted I was trying to scam the system. He then insulted me further. Do not use this company. The service man they sent me is a guy just trying to get service money and do nothing but a dog and pony show. We had TL Services come out this morning to look at our Air Conditioner. It wasn't cooling our place properly. No sooner than the technician arrived he became extremely rude and disrespectful to me! I started asking questions regarding the AC and all of his responses were hateful. I asked if I could see the filter he said this unit doesn't have a filter. The filter is in our furnace area. I asked about the air flow pressure throughout the house he didn't not answer that question. All he mentioned was the freon was low by 3 pounds. He also said that AHS would only pay $10 of the $65 per cubic foot of freon. Well that didn't sit well with me cause the price would be $55x3=$165 plus $75 for the service call equals $240.00. I think not!!! Because of the high cost we refused the treatment. I don't appreciate being ripped off especially by a company that doesn't have any knowledge of their profession. read more

If I could give a zero, I would. Horrible customer service from this company. It started off ok when the tech TJ arrived and was very friendly and located the leak. He said he would advise my warranty company and be in contact with me first thing on Monday as this was a Saturday call. Here is where everything started to fall apart. I called numerous times to be told that he is busy and will return my call later, which he never did. I just purchased this home a month ago and have a disabled person living with me with no ac in the home and a heat wave going on. I never received a call that day. The next day, I received a call from my warranty company saying the claim is denied because the ac was broken for some time and had no freon in it. Mind you, my system is freezing up due to being low, not empty, a few pounds at the most. After arguing back and forth with ahs and providing them with my inspection report indicating the system was fully functional(with pictures!), they overturned and decided to cover it. They contacted TJ and now his price for freon went up from $65/lb to $75/lb and stated this is "market pricing" I did some research and actually found the freon for consumers, Virgin spec r22 for $17.50/lb!! What a rip off! I then asked why he wanted to charge the complete system with 13lbs instead of recovering and reusing/Topping off and he stated it was CA law! Another lie as I did my research and found you can reuse refrigerant for your own equipment. After arguing some more, I was then told it was contaminated, really?! I was beyond frustrated at this point and just gave in and said I need it fixed asap. I was then told he wouldn't be able to repair it for another week. Are you kidding me?! I immediately relieved them of their services and can't believe how much of liars and a rip off this company is. I am still without AC and attempting to start the process all over again. TJ was amazing...spending hours on the phone with the warranty company when they messed up the order and delivery of my parts. Once he was able to confirm they were at the vendor company he juggled his schedule in order to make my repairs with a days notice. I really felt that he was on my side, fighting for me. TJ was the repairman who came out to fix our 40 year old furnace. The blower would stay on long after the heat stopped, and sometimes the furnace wouldn't start........it was one of those intermittent problems. I called American Home Shield around 9 a.m,, The assigned repair company, TL services, contacted us within 2-3 hours and the repairman arrived about 3 hours later. He called prior to arrival, had the necessary parts, and replaced the circuit board. He appeared knowledgeable, was polite, and was done well within an hour. Very pleasantly surprised--couldn't have been better. This company has had poor reviews in the past; maybe things are looking up. I had an issue with my thermostat and the service advisor who came to our house recommended an easy solution that I could implement and saved me over $450. I don't think I can ever recall a repair person turning away hundreds of dollars of revenue from a customer who could have just as easily just said yes because he didn't know better. Total rip off. Did an install that is NOT up to code. They stated that they will not fix thier install even if is not up to code. Before work was done I asked TJ (the owner) if he would put new insulated Plenum's and he said yes. He used the old Plenum's which are not big enough and states if the house didn't burn down with the old furnace it won't burn down now. He also reused the single wall vents. I wasn't ready for the appointment yet due to an issue with AHS; AHS issued a new dispatch, no charge to me, since I already paid the $75 to AHS and the problem I had was not diagnosed by a plumber who was sent out last week. I call TL Services back to ask for a Saturday apt, Mrs TL says "I don't have that dispatch number, let me call AHS to confirm it and I'll call you back." Ok great, I wait. While this was supposedly going on, I forwarded her the dispatch email trying to help out (TL's email is right on the dispatch). She didn't call back. I call TL Services Monday morning to follow up on the non-returned phone call and she says "American Home Shield cancelled your dispatch." What she DID do, was call AHS on Saturday and (according to AHS) tells them "the customer wants the order cancelled since a different contractor has already come out to look at the problem." Dirty trick but I can only assume they just didn't want the work since they would be asking for their $75 from AHS not directly from me. Dirty game. I would have not added a negative Yelp if the folks were straight with me, told me they didn't want the work...and didn't lie to AHS on my behalf. I'm a veteran with 30 years service completed and not much is worse than being lied to and falsely represented, but as a lesson learned I assume it is a trick of the trade. My view? It took me another 20 minutes on hold with AHS to get another contractor but TL Services helped me out by ensuring I don't actually engage them in real business.
