Their COVID measures are underwhelming. Couldn't pay over the phone when I ordered--they claim their "system isn't set up" to run a credit card. Cashier wearing her mask under her nose. No plexiglass between the customer and the cashier. Can't run your own card, have to hand it over. Generally, they're just going through the motions. Personally, the last thing I need on the rare occasions when we get take out is stress over possible contagion. If you're serious about staying safe--and you should be--give them a miss. read more

The worst restaurant experience of the year. To start we had to ask twice to have bloody MMA matches shut off from the dining room tv. The sushi crew asked why we'd want it changed After 15 minutes we had to ask for someone to take our order. 15 minutes later no beer, no wine, no app. We left. This place consistently messes up our take out orders. I'll order extra peanuts and none of the dishes will have peanuts. Or my mom (who's allergic to nuts) will order no peanut no egg, and there still be peanuts. It's gotten to the point where we don't want to complicate things for them. I lived in Grosse Pointe Park for two years. Yet it took me until today, 3 years later, to make it into TN Thai Bistro. There are many reasons I moved out of Grosse Pointe, but had I tried TN Thai earlier, this place would NOT be one of them. The atmosphere leaves some to be desired, and I wanted to throw up in my mouth listening to the GP high school girls in the booth behind me going on endlessly in valley girl accents talking about the girls at school that they don't like, and all the terrible things they do to bully them both in person and online. Disgusting. But that's a whole other conversation.... Onto the food!!! My friend and I each had a bowl of miso. We split a philadelphia roll, a shrimp california, and a specialty roll called the Michigan. 2 regular rolls, 1 specialty, and the soups - $25!!!! We even had sushi left over! Unbelievable. Especially considering many places will charge $15 for a specialty roll alone. The philly and shrimp cali were good, but it's pretty hard to mess them up. The Michigan roll is a combination of tuna, yellowtail, cucumber and I think something else. Speciality rolls are often larger, but this roll took it to a new level. It was near impossible to fit in my mouth (that's what she said)! And when I did manage to cram it in there, it filled my mouth up so much that it took about a solid minute before I was able to swallow it down (again...that's what she said). This colossal roll was the reason why we had some left over. I guess we got the most for our money, but all I could think of was that i was glad I was with a girlfriend and not on a date! Add the Michigan roll to the list of things that are awkward to eat in front of someone you are trying to impress. The sushi is good, and comes out relatively fast. I cannot believe the good prices! I will be making it a point to stop by here and try more of their sushi menu next time I am in GP. By time we got our check, all the other tables in our section had cleared out, yet it took our server a good 10 minutes to pick it back up once we put our credit card in. Why? No biggie though, we were happily chatting anyway. And I can't wait til karma catches up with those terrible girls. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for many years. It's always been inconsistent - sometimes good, sometimes really really salty. Tonight was a whole new experience. When served our food we were overcome with the smell of urine. We didn't say anything because we didn't know if it was our food or someone around us. It ended up being our food. The owner came out and asked us how we were enjoying our food suspiciously. She only came to our table and no one else's. We were too nice to accuse them of peeing in our food so we didn't say anything. But I'll just tell you all here. Our food smelled like URINE!!! A gift card brought us here tonight. But unfortunately we won't be going back again to avoid the inconsistency...and urine. read more

There's a lot to like about TN. The location is very nice, in the village (?) area of GP. The service is very friendly - they opened for us a few minutes early. And the food is pretty good. I had the Pad Eggplant combo plate. There was plenty of eggplant, which I was craving, and it was tasty. The lunch combo is a good value - fried rice + springroll. The springroll, though, is probably the weakest part of the meal. Something about it tasted a little off. Also, if you work at the nearby hospital, you get 10% off your lunch (score!). I had lunch today at Thai Bistro. I usually go to at Sala Thai in my neighborhood. But I was having lunch with a friend who lives within walking distance of Thai Bistro so we decided to go there. And I am so glad I did. To be on the safe side I ordered Pad Thai and Hot & Sour soup. Both were delicious especially the soup. I ordered Tofu in my Pad Thai and it was cooked just right. I actually enjoyed this Thai food a lot better than Sala Thai. It had much more flavor and tasted more authentic. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I thought the portions could have been larger. But other than that is was great. read more

The service at this restaurant is good, and it's nice that they give you a basket of those fish flavored rice chips when you sit down. But there is something seriously off with the dishes. I came here for lunch with my boyfriend and his parents. We all ordered different dishes, and each one of us some some sort of complaint (well, not his mother because she's too sweet to complain about anything). The boyfriend's father got tofu noodles with peanut sauce and said it had no flavor. Boyfriend got red tofu curry that made him sick. And I ordered, as I always order at a Thai restaurant, veggie pad see ewe... but this noodle dish, unlike all others I've had before, came out black. Black?! Yes, black. Clearly they had burnt the soy sauce, but on top of that, I did not taste any sweetness or fish sauce, which are the only other 2 flavoring ingredients in pad see ewe. Soy sauce, sugar, fish sauce...not that hard to mess up. I've even made better at home. Luckily, just about any dish stir fried dish can be saved with the addition of some sambal oelek... unfortunately, this time it was used to mask the flavors rather than enhance them. I judge a Thai restaurant by its pad thai. Fair, right? And let me tell you, this restaurant hits its pad thai OUT of the ball park. I got the beef extra hot, take out. Phenomenal. I waffled on three and four stars. The service and food has always been good, and a good value for the price too. I typically get the Pad Eggplant with chicken but have also had Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. They aren't so great with special requests; you sort of get a look that says "we'll see" rather than "no problem." We come here for a work lunch every three weeks or so. The food is consistently delicious and wonderful. The thai iced coffee is great to beat the afternoon doldrums. We have been here a few times and we usually get the Thai food which is fine. This review is for the sushi. We ordered $70 worth of sushi for carryout when they opened at noon. The best tasting roll was the eel avocado. The shrimp lovers and rainbow looked appealing but didn't taste like much. The fish was not fresh, the rice was dry and the rolls were all loose and so they were hard to pick up. Will stick to the Thai food next time. read more

Whoa! Wasn't expecting it...but it truly is the best sushi in town! My mother and I go here all the time when I'm home in Michigan to visit, and now that I've moved home, we've made it a weekly tradition to have lunch here in downtown Grosse Pointe. My favorites are the Village Roll (not on the menu, just ask!), the Inside Out Salmon Roll, and the Dragon Roll. Not feeling sushi? They have an entire thai menu that never disappoints. I hadn't had Thai for a while so I was excited to try TN Thai Bistro. I didn't realize they served sushi until I got there, and if I ever went back that's what I would order. My dining companion ordered a nice little sashimi salad that looked great, and was nicely priced at $6. I, on the other hand, ordered the "special", and was really disappointed. It was advertised as a chicken dish with broccoli, spinach and topped with a peanut sauce. I like all those things so I decided to try it. I thought it would be a stir fry kinda thing, but it was these dry chicken planks placed on a bed of spinach and broccoli and the whole thing SOAKED in peanut sauce. The spinach was so soaked in it that I couldn't taste the spinach at all, just the sauce oozing out of it. Kinda makes me a little queasy thinking of it. I don't like to complain and am usually a trooper, but when my dining companion saw how miserable I was trying to get this thing down we sent it back. The manager took it off the bill no questions asked, but I have to question who they have cooking their Thai dishes. It didn't look or taste authentic at all. It seemed like the kind of "Thai" dish someone would make who wasn't familiar with the cuisine. I've spent considerable time in California and have had some of the best and most authentic Thai food you can get outside of Thailand, and this just didn't stack up. I felt sorry for our poor server who apologized profusely, who I told not to worry and it wasn't her fault. Awkward. The sushi menu looked good, and when I went to the restroom I poked my head around the corner where they have the sushi bar in the back. It looked real nice. Next time I would only get the sushi. They totally lost me on the Thai. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and not judge all the Thai dishes on the basis of just this one, but anyone who would send out chicken that dry and soak a dish with that much peanut sauce so that it's the ONLY thing you taste clearly shows me they have a serious disconnect about Thai food, and simply what tastes good (NOT a quart of peanut sauce). I hope they get their kitchen remedied because it's a nice location. read more

It has been super fresh, tasty, and the rice to fish ratio is nicely balanced. I ordered take out and they were very fast! They had a lot of variety to choose from and the quality of the food was great. Very much like the quality of thai food you can get in San Francisco. I ordered the pad thai, pad prik chicken, a mackeral roll and a yellowtail roll. The prices were great for the small rolls and the only small complaint is that medium spicy is not that spicy at all (from my husband). The highest level of spice you can get was perfect for me because if they went authentic thai hot like they do in the city, I'd be in for something else! read more

This is our go-to neighborhood Thai place, and have it at least 1-2 times per month, mostly carry out, and the carry out is ALWAYS right! That is award winning for sure, especially since we've been going there for years! The food is always consistently good and fresh. Its the type of food that is soooo good that you want to eat it in the privacy of your own home because of the weird sounds of satisfaction you're making as you slurp away at your pad Thai with curry sauce.
