It had such potential, I just was not as excited eating it as I was when I ordered it. The soup - great for dipping. NOT good as soup. Will I be back? I will. MENU: 5 stars. Toasted's menu is incredible: lots of options, interesting menu choices, and great prices. I had the Angry Burger and loved it. It was pretty filling for how much it cost. There were a bunch of other meals I can't wait to try when I'm in Orlando again. The prices were also reasonable. MOOD: 4 stars. There was a nice college feel to this restaurant. I imagine a lot of Rollins students stop in to grab a quick and cheap bite. Regardless, it gave me a feeling of nostalgia to when I was back in college, and the Memory Lane trip was a welcome sentiment. LOCATION: 5 stars. It's in a strip mall sort of shopping plaza. With plenty of parking, an ideal location off of a major road, and easy visibility from the street, this location is highly desirable. STAFF: 5 stars. The manager was very friendly. He was actively serving customers and even talked to us personally to make sure he got our order right. That was impressive to me. The cashier/waitress was also very patient and seemed to thoroughly enjoy her job. You don't see that as much anymore. The staff was a breath of fresh air. Decided to stop by toasted with my family for lunch while visiting my sister in Orlando. I absolutely loved and will recommend this place. My husband turned me on to this place. We were in the area and we saw this and he said it was good. The place isn't too big but it doesn't feel crowded either. The decor is really cute... a little science thrown in. The Menu isn't extensive but everything sounded good and I feel like there is an option for everyone, even vegans! I got the classic turkey and added bacon. It was so good. The turkey was not dry and the bread...the bread is divine. Perfectly toasted and it's not heavy or too thick. Absolutely loved this place! This Winter Park area along Aloma is blowing up with gems like Toasted! Parking was a breeze. Entering the restaurant was cool with all the neat decor and seating area. Very clean space and bathrooms. Easy to read menus and extremely helpful staff. We got the Buffalo Chicken and Braised Brisket grilled cheese sandwiches. The buffalo chicken was highly recommended and was so worth it! It wasn't your average buffalo chicken either. The munster cheese on this put together a master piece.. The braised brisket was also phenomenal with fontina cheese and their housemade bbq sauce and sweet tea caramelized onions. This combination of flavors blew me away! Love this place. After my third visit (Lat week 9/15) I figured I should review. First visit I ordered the As Gouda As It Gets. Pulled chicken, gouda, roasted red pepper and galic spinach. I could tell the chicken was canned chicken but the sandwich was still quite good. Crispy and served piping hot. I also got the Mac & Cheese as a side. SOO GOOD. And this is saying something because I make a pretty mean Mac and Cheese myself. I would definitely recommend the Mac and Cheese. On the second and third visit I got the Southern Comfort burger, medium rare. It comes with cheddar cheese, applewood bacon, homemade BBQ sauce and mac and cheese. The first time it was cooked to perfection, so juicy, tasty and I could tell they use quality meat. Very important was the BBQ sauce- sometimes they can be too strong, over powering and slathered to death. Not this BBQ sauce. Just the right amount and it did not over power. The second time it was also cooked perfectly, though a little bland and the last two bites had two bone chuncks or hard gristle things :/ That's the only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars. I went here with my friends about two weeks ago and ordered a gluten free and vegan grilled cheese. Unfortunately, I can't have gluten or dairy so I was excited to find another restaurant I could maybe add to my small list of places I can eat. However, in these past two weeks I cannot wrap my head around how they managed to melt the vegan cheese to a liquid state. If you've ever had vegan cheese or tried to cook with it, it's basically an impossible task to melt it. I can barely do it to make mac'n'cheese. Yet, somehow, Toasted managed to melt it down into a thin cheese sauce. It tasted good as far a vegan cheeses go and I commend them for their feat. However, why would anyone want liquid cheese on their grilled cheese??? And I mean liquid. I couldn't really even eat the sandwich because the cheese would literally pour out every time I took a bite or even picked it up to take a bite. It seriously looked like they lightly toasted two pieces of bread and then ladled some cheese sauce between the two and called it a day. And I'm 99% positive that's exactly what they did. Also, the gluten free bread is the kind with seeds in it which it tasted fine but I'm personally not a fan of and I know a lot of people aren't either. It's also unnecessary as far as gluten free bread options go. Actually, Toasted, imma let you on on a little secret... sourdough bread is really easy to find gluten free if it's made with the natural starter and tastes really good with grilled cheese. I will say my friends enjoyed their normal food with all the cheese and gluten! And their fries were good! We tried the normal fries and the rosemary truffle fries and both were quality. And with my dietary restrictions, fries is often the only thing I can eat wherever I go so I've tried A LOT of different fries. These fries were genuinely great! I really am just at a complete loss on how they managed to make the vegan cheese liquid though. This will haunt me forever. read more

Over 2 years since my last review and this place has certainly redeemed theirselves in my eyes. I'm not sure if the menu has changed since we have been here but I really loved that they had other options besides strictly grilled cheese sandwiches. While I don't mind a good grilled cheese, my stomach sometimes has other ideas and I was really not in the mood to deal with an upset tummy. Just sayin'! So besides all the different grilled cheese options, there is a nice variety of beef/turkey burger options including some vegan and vegetarian picks too! I had the Banh Mi which I really enjoyed. Its source of protein is a turkey burger topped with all the essentials of a traditional banh mi in between two buns. And it was delicious! It has quite a kick mainly due to the jalapenos and sriracha mayo so be forewarned. Probably not ideal for someone who doesn't like spicy flavors. I also ordered a side of their mac and cheese to share with my husband and it was mighty good! It's a mix of Jarlsberg, Gruyere and sharp Cheddar and while it is rich it's worth the splurge. My husband had the Southern Comfort and that is one indulgent burger. Not only does it have cheddar and bacon but it has a layer of mac and cheese on the bottom! The employees were all very friendly and several were making their rounds in the small dining area picking up empty baskets and checking in on customers. I mean, where else can you get truffle fries other than an expensive restaurant? Nowhere besides toasted. However, they are rosemary truffle fries, which I found the rosemary a bit over powering. I would suggest to relax on the rosemary. I like rosemary, but I'm not that into her. She is however gluten free for your gluten free nuts out there (Eat more gluten. I promise, it won't kill you. This does not apply to those who have genuine allergies. Only those nut bags that heard from some chick in yoga class that gluten is bad for you). I had the Braised Brisket grilled cheese. It was excellent. I typically don't go for toasted sandwiches as they have a tendency to tear up the roof of my mouth like a huge bowl of cap'n crunch does, however the bread wasn't toasted to that extreme. I paired it with a side of truffle fries and a concoction I made from the coke freestyle machine they have. Although I like those Coke machines, I hate them at the same time because people take forever to use them. Almost like waiting on a guy at an ATM who is taking a very long time. Jillian C.'s recent ROTD (and me having to be in the area) inspired me to stop in to Toasted yesterday. It was so cheesy. Ha. So, Mom and I shared two grilled cheese sandwiches, an order of rosemary truffle fries and a tomato soup. The truffle melt ($6.25) was the winner. It could have used more arugula, but the fresh ground black pepper was really nice! The big cheese ($5.50) was fine, though I found it difficult to distinguish one cheese from another. It'd be perfect for my husband, if you add applewood smoked bacon which you could do for $1. The truffle oil and "fresh" rosemary truffle fries ($2.50)- I would be fine if I never had those again. Some were crispy, some overcooked, some soggy. Rosemary didn't seem all that fresh. That's not how you treat fries, man. That roasted tomato soup is the bomb.com, go run and tell your mom. We seriously should have gotten a bowl ($2.75) to share instead of a dipper size portion ($1.50) because we were about fighting over that shit. It's my turn to dip. No, it's MY turn to dip! OK, sorry, Mom. :( Narrow as all get out inside, like four tables all squished together and a few hightops along one wall. Happily, there was an accommodating employee who saw that we were disabled and offered to take our order once we were seated. +1 for Toasted. -1 for the ignorant woman who decided to sit directly behind me (instead of in the empty chair behind the empty chair next to me). This place is pretty awesome for a sandwich place! I went here for lunch during the week with my husband and baby. You order at the counter and then find a table where your food is delivered by waitstaff. They also bring your order curbside according to their menu so you don't have to get out of the car (awesome idea if you have a kid). Inside they have one of those awesome new fancy soda machines, and they have tables inside and out. The place is quite small though, so if going for lunch get there early. Also, they have only one high chair available, albeit a very nice one with a tray. On our visit I had the buffalo chicken sandwhich and side of truffle fries, both of which were fantastic!!! So I know my review will be balanced by my husband's review so please don't hate me for liking, but not loving, this place for my first visit. The ambiance is cool and cute- they definitely make the space work for them, because there are a bunch of tables for such a small space but you still don't feel crowded. The periodic table of cheese is cute and I learned quite a bit- which is actually not surprising because I've been allergic to dairy since birth so I don't have much cheese experience. The people are also super nice and bubbly, so customer service is an A+. Keep in mind, I'm coming from a vegan perspective here- of what I've heard the regular grilled cheese sandwiches are the bomb-diggity (I said it, what.), as proven by my husband who inhaled his sandwich (while yelping) before I got a third bite in of mine. I was very pleased to see they had a separate vegan menu, that was an awesome touch, and to find out they make their vegan cheese in house (with a coconut milk base). So I ordered the Vegan 101 because duh, it's my first time. My husband got the Blackberry Melt. After the obligatory pictures for yelp (you're welcome Andi), we dove in. I didn't have any expectations but when I took the first bite it was.... meh. Just really bland. And I could tell the bread had flavor, but it just seemed like the vegan cheese didn't have any flavor at all. I had my husband take a bite thinking "maybe this is just what grilled cheese is like?" but he also agreed that white it seemed similar to regular cheese, it was a very very mild flavor. I sprinkled some salt on it to see if that would help and it did a bit but between doing all that and the tomato slices, the middle was so soggy it was falling apart. I always thought/saw grilled cheese sandwiches as being crunchy, so I guess since the vegan cheese was so good at staying melted, it made everything but the crust soggy. It was a little bit of a bummer, as I've had flavorful slices of Daiya brand cheese in recipes before, but this won't stop me from coming in and giving a different vegan sandwich another try for sure. Don't let the vegan part of their description fool you, the have those options, but the mind blowing decadence that is their regular menu makes want to never need any where again. Besides being dead in a few weeks, if I lived in Florida my life would be an empty void other than coming here daily to dine. I think I wanted to like this place way more than I really did. What I did like about Toasted was: The decorations found inside Toasted. They had a periodic table of cheese, lights that look like cheese wheels, and cheese graters used as lamp shades. The food came out really fast. This is a type of place where you order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. They have a Vegan friendly menu. What I didn't care so much for: The table arrangements inside. It is a very small restaurant and maneuvering around the restaurant is a real pain because there is no space between tables. The prices. I felt that they were pretty steep. I know cheese isn't the cheapest ingredient. However, I felt the bread could use a major improvement for the price I paid. The sandwich itself. It was suppose to have three different types of cheese, truffle oil, and arugula. I might have saw two specks of arugula. I honestly could not taste it at all. I had about half of the sandwich and then just couldn't bring myself to eat anymore. My husband ordered the Mac and Cheese and it just tasted like burnt cheese. The lack of knowledge or courtesy of some of the employees. When our food was brought out the employee couldn't tell us which sandwich was which. She said they looked too similar to tell. She told us what she thought, but then said that she really didn't know. She then sent another worker over to help us out. I believe this was the owner. The owner told us that the employee was in fact wrong. She told us to flip sandwiches. Shouldn't the employees know what they are serving? Yes the sandwiches looked similar, but that can't be an excuse. Also, when I was getting napkins, straws, and lids there were a couple employees standing by the drink station. I overheard the conversation about what they do in the kitchen. Every other word out of their mouth was the F word. A few people from my workplace wanted to get toasted ordered. As a person with a dairy allergy, I have to look through all allergy guides. Toasted has the Braised Brisket listed as only a soy allergy and not dairy on their websites allergy guide. Figured I'd order it and when it arrived, I noticed there was cheese on it after already taking a bite. Called the restaurant to see if it was soy cheese (it's a thing) to which they informed me it wasn't. Let them know their website states the only allergen is soy to which the employee responded with, oh yeah that isn't right, sorry about that. Salads are sad, grilled cheese is awesome and unless u like a non juicy hard burger then the burgers are great! Although their grilled cheeses are good, I can make a better one. The tuscan salad was pathetic. One small piece of fried goat cheese blessed the scantily bunch of greens... the burger OMG how do you make a burger so dry and hard? I don't think it was real beef? Will never go back. No sure why it was so busy. read more
