Honestly, I'm really surprised by all the bad reviews. My wife and I dropped in here for lunch after a nearby hike and had a great hour relaxing by their waterfront. We both thought the trout and coleslaw were really good. The manager (didn't catch the woman's name) was really kind and attentive from the time we got in. It was an absolutely perfect day to be outside and this restaurant has a ton of outdoor seating options. We sat on the porch with our dog for half the time and ate our meal by the river on the doc for the other half. It wasn't very crowded when we got there, so maybe that really helped our experience, but I'd definitely go back here. The parking lot is a bit small and awkward on the road, so I can see how during peak season this could make getting in a bit stressful. But at the end of a long morning of hiking, having this option for lunch (and I think it's about the only option) was the carry on top. read more

Come for the view, not the food or the service. If you can't get a table with a view of the River, wait for it. We've been here ten times or more. Food is ok. Service is incredibly slow. Pimento cheese dip is good. The corn fritters are good, too. Burgers are big. Fries are well seasoned. Caesar salad is good, but nothing special. Cajun pasta can be overly spicy. They don't offer straws with any drink claiming people throw them in the river. Definitely make sure you go outside and around to the river for a scenic stop and photos. We ate here with my family. There was 8 of us all together, 5 adults and 3 kids. The food was not good at all and cold and we could tell pretty easily especially since my granddaughter who eats everything refused to eat shrimp and green beans, her favorite back home. Her PopPop tried them and said they are salty and nasty and the green beans were tough. The granddaughter with a salad refused it and she loves salad. The duck was tough, 2 were bought, and the burger was okay but they couldn't get it right because our waitress couldn't do her job and put it in the computer correctly. The beer was$9 each, yeah that's right, On top of that they automatically charge you an 18% gratuity. I'm the type of person that will leave you 20% or more but don't go ahead and add your tip and this waitress was sorry. We had to ask several times for things , including tea and drinks, ketchup (just simple things a waitress should know, and she was rude to my grandbaby. Don't be rude. But when your adding the tip to the bill I guess you can treat your customers rudly and get your tip too. I told them up front she didn't deserve a tip of the magnitude that was on the bill. And before anyone says she was busy. She had 4 tables and 2 was ours put together so no she was not busy she was LAZY. And the whole staff was no different. There was a family outside with a blind lady that needed jumping off and we seen this car when we got there but thought they are waiting on family but when we got outside after the meal they were still there. Had been there 3 hours. Yes it took us 2 and a half hours to get our meals and half of it was cold. But these people at this restaurant would not help this older couple and their daughter jump their car off. We got them back on the road as s the last was crying she was so happy. How hard would it of been for ONE employee to jump this family off. Just one. I couldn't understand this. I know what restaurant not to go to again. Not only was the food bad but the service was bad and rude. And yes I told her she didn't deserve her tip at all. My oldest daughter got embarrassed and mad at me but you know what I done waitress work for a living before she was ever born and if I wanted my tips I earned them they weren't forced at 18% or any other percent for that matter on a bill. I made sure the customer was happy and had drinks and the table was clean. She couldn't even clear the empty dishes that I stacked. My youngest daughter also waitresses for 3 years in high school and she even said she does not deserve a tip what so ever with her attitude and her service. And I'm still mad about my granddaughter crying because of her rude behavior towards her. Just go to a different place and be happier. You can't even get a smile from these people. One of my favorite spots when in Blue Ridge. The staff were extremely friendly and the views from the table are fantastic (ask to outside on the deck, if it's available). We had the blackened trout, which was great, as well as the smoked trout tip-- which was fantastic. Since we split the fish, we also had a salad and a cup of tomato artichoke soup. I felt like the soup lacked something, but it wasn't bad. They also have a nice selection of beers and wines. They also did a pretty decent job of keeping people socially distanced. We had such a beautiful view for dinner here! We sat on the porch that looked over the river. The lighting was nice - a very great ambiance. It was a Thursday night at 6:30 and there was no wait time - to be seated at least. The real wait occurred while waiting for our food. After an hour and 10 minutes, we FINALLY received our shrimp, steak and 2 dinner salads. After such a wait I had expected the food to be amazing, but it was very mediocre. The atmosphere was great. We did arrive a little earlier in the evening and were seated immediately. Our server was very nice and attentive. We had calamari as an appetizer and each ordered a version of crusted trout. I had pecan crusted trout with pecan butter, whole green beans, and Caesar salad. We both enjoyed our meal and feel we made a great choice by coming here. We thought it was a risk after reading the reviews, but we are happy we ignored them. I have eaten many places and wouldnt go back here out of principle. First, i told them i cant eat bacon and my dish had bacon in it. Second, the timing of the food was wrong. I waited 1 hour for a drink and appetizer. When the appetizer came out, 2 minutes later the main fish came. Third, the food was strictly okay. I already had issues because they name dropped gordon ramsay, but it was just okay, bit xefinately not worth the 2 hours we spent there. Doesn't seem to be much of a consensus here: two one-stars, one five-star and one four-star. Love it or hate it. We think it's closer to one than five. The restaurant is a roadside stop a few miles south of Blue Ridge, with signs advertising food, drink and bait. We chose the former. Inside it's like a rustic cabin overlooking the Toccoa River. the outside deck would no doubt be great in warm weather, but in the winter months staying inside seemed prudent. Maybe if we'd had that outside seating the food might have seemed better, but once inside there was little to do but actually eat the stuff. Let's see now: chicken parmigiana sandwich not quite fully cooked. A shrimp po' boy short on shrimp (is that an oxymoron?). Fish sandwich that tasted previously frozen. French fries that were served lukewarm. Ah, but the almond-crusted trout -- pretty tasty. The server was fun and friendly. We didn't go for alcoholic drinks, so no comment on the bartender. But we found the table chairs uncomfortable. So -- two stars it is, but maybe we should have tried the bait. Regardless, the restaurant doesn't seem worth going out of your way to get to, which is, by the way, just about the only way you'll be able to find this little place. read more

Wife order the trout entre with Cesar salad & sweet potatos fry's, I had the Asiago chicken with Cesar salad & corn fritters. My smoked north Georgia lake trout was just as delicious as hubby's pecan crusted trout. Salads with crisp lettuce, side Dishes of spinach mushrooms and the mashed potatoes were perfect. We have always enjoyed coming here when we are in the area. The restaurant hasn't disappointed us yet. The food was wonderful. Calamari was cooked just right, not overdone. This place came highly recommended! We were pretty excited to try it. Boy, were we disappointed. It was about a 10 minute wait to be seated, not bad. But then it took a good 5-10 minutes for a server to come by. Then while we waited on our food, there was a table with small kids that was wayyy too loud! (If you're going to have the rule on your menu about charging parents that don't know how to parent, then enforce it!) Next, were sitting by the kitchen and the servers running in and out and bumping into my seat were a tad ridiculous. We finally received our food after about a 30 minute wait. I ordered the Pecan Crusted Trout with rice pilaf and mashed potatoes. The fish was ok. It was pretty bland though. The rice tasted like it was made at lunchtime and had been sitting out since. The mashed potatoes left a lot to be desired. It was pretty dissatisfying. We then split the Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake. It was just alright. It didn't have sea salt on it though; it was regular table salt! This made it sooo salty. For the price you pay it was not worth it! $19 for a fish you can catch in your backyard? So I was pretty confident that we'd have some good eating.... Restaurant sits on the Toccoa River. Wasn't anything like what I was hoping it might be. Upon arriving we read the specials on the sign and i was immediately intrigued by the sweet potato hush puppies so we ordered some. That should have been my indicator of what was to come. They were bland. The idea was good but it was lacking flavor and texture. We added a little salt and that improved it but not enough to get it again. My friend ordered the stuffed trout and I ordered "the award winning" pecan crusted chicken. It had a weird flavor and it was just....weird. I can say that i was pretty underwhelmed. Great spot to stop on your way back from the falls. So happy with the service and food. Dog friendly on the patio which is also heated in the winter. This has been a favorite place for us to bring out of town guests for 7 years. It breaks my heart to give them a bad review. They have changed trout suppliers and it's not a good change. My table ordered the veggie burger dinner, the trout, and a vegetable plate (4 choice sides - corn nuggets, sweet potato casserole, a baked potato, and spinach & mushrooms. When I put the spinach in my mouth I almost threw up. It was absolutely the worst spinach I have ever had and completely inedible. The rest of my food was bland, at best. I don't know that much of anything is made from scratch. It felt very processed. None of us had anything great to say about their food and we're all pretty easy to please. No alcohol on Sundays... I know this isn't their fault, but it definitely would have made us go somewhere else had we known ahead of time. There is a line on their menu saying they will charge parents if they don't properly parent their kids. We asked what they meant and she said something vague about them breaking something. It was off putting to say the least. Service was okay. No smiles or warm welcomes but she did get our food to us quickly and refill our drinks. RAW. when we asked to see the chef/owner we were told by our server that he had recently choked out a customer. So we avoided that conflict. So we had a pretty large group and had a about an hour wait. There were lots of cars so we knew we had made a good choice. I would give it a B-. Since it was late getting in I had ordered a veggie plate. All my veggies except the bake potatoe were cold. My husband ordered the ribs and was very happy as they were fall off bone good. He enjoyed the coke slaw but collards were cold too. Those that ordered trout seemed pleased with their entree but disappointed in cold sides.
