The only thing pleasant about our dining experience was the cold craft beer and the view. The steak I had for the price was not acceptable. Come for the view, not the food or the service. If you can't get a table with a view of the River, wait for it. We've been here ten times or more. Food is ok. Service is incredibly slow. Pimento cheese dip is good. The corn fritters are good, too. Burgers are big. Fries are well seasoned. Caesar salad is good, but nothing special. Cajun pasta can be overly spicy. They don't offer straws with any drink claiming people throw them in the river. Definitely make sure you go outside and around to the river for a scenic stop and photos. Just don't expect much for the food. Try a drink and appetizer and just enjoy the view. read more

We had such a beautiful view for dinner here! We sat on the porch that looked over the river. The lighting was nice - a very great ambiance. It was a Thursday night at 6:30 and there was no wait time - to be seated at least. The real wait occurred while waiting for our food. After an hour and 10 minutes, we FINALLY received our shrimp, steak and 2 dinner salads. After such a wait I had expected the food to be amazing, but it was very mediocre. This place came highly recommended! We were pretty excited to try it. Boy, were we disappointed. It was about a 10 minute wait to be seated, not bad. But then it took a good 5-10 minutes for a server to come by. Then while we waited on our food, there was a table with small kids that was wayyy too loud! (If you're going to have the rule on your menu about charging parents that don't know how to parent, then enforce it!) Next, were sitting by the kitchen and the servers running in and out and bumping into my seat were a tad ridiculous. We finally received our food after about a 30 minute wait. I ordered the Pecan Crusted Trout with rice pilaf and mashed potatoes. The fish was ok. It was pretty bland though. The rice tasted like it was made at lunchtime and had been sitting out since. The mashed potatoes left a lot to be desired. It was pretty dissatisfying. We then split the Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake. It was just alright. It didn't have sea salt on it though; it was regular table salt! This made it sooo salty. For the price you pay it was not worth it! $19 for a fish you can catch in your backyard? Doesn't seem to be much of a consensus here: two one-stars, one five-star and one four-star. Love it or hate it. We think it's closer to one than five. The restaurant is a roadside stop a few miles south of Blue Ridge, with signs advertising food, drink and bait. We chose the former. Inside it's like a rustic cabin overlooking the Toccoa River. the outside deck would no doubt be great in warm weather, but in the winter months staying inside seemed prudent. Maybe if we'd had that outside seating the food might have seemed better, but once inside there was little to do but actually eat the stuff. Let's see now: chicken parmigiana sandwich not quite fully cooked. A shrimp po' boy short on shrimp (is that an oxymoron?). Fish sandwich that tasted previously frozen. French fries that were served lukewarm. Ah, but the almond-crusted trout -- pretty tasty. The server was fun and friendly. We didn't go for alcoholic drinks, so no comment on the bartender. But we found the table chairs uncomfortable. So -- two stars it is, but maybe we should have tried the bait. Regardless, the restaurant doesn't seem worth going out of your way to get to, which is, by the way, just about the only way you'll be able to find this little place. read more

Wife order the trout entre with Cesar salad & sweet potatos fry's, I had the Asiago chicken with Cesar salad & corn fritters. really tasty large piece of broiled lemon pepper gulf trout, if you like white flaky fish get it. green beans tasted canned get baked potato instead - should offer broccoli or some other light veggie. not sure what the dark miniscule mystery topping - crab should be chunky and white. so many amazing desserts to choose from cant go wrong. appreciated gesture of covered dog area but it faces the road, would have liked to sit outside on the river since its 10miles outside the city. read more

So I was pretty confident that we'd have some good eating.... Restaurant sits on the Toccoa River. Wasn't anything like what I was hoping it might be. Upon arriving we read the specials on the sign and i was immediately intrigued by the sweet potato hush puppies so we ordered some. That should have been my indicator of what was to come. They were bland. The idea was good but it was lacking flavor and texture. We added a little salt and that improved it but not enough to get it again. My friend ordered the stuffed trout and I ordered "the award winning" pecan crusted chicken. It had a weird flavor and it was just....weird. I can say that i was pretty underwhelmed. Great spot to stop on your way back from the falls. So happy with the service and food. Dog friendly on the patio which is also heated in the winter. We started with the stuffed mushroom and crab cakes, oh my those mushrooms were amazing! Both my husband and I got the blackened tacos which were so delicious. As everyone has said, the views at this location are great. Everything else was pretty much terrible. My table ordered the veggie burger dinner, the trout, and a vegetable plate (4 choice sides - corn nuggets, sweet potato casserole, a baked potato, and spinach & mushrooms. When I put the spinach in my mouth I almost threw up. It was absolutely the worst spinach I have ever had and completely inedible. The rest of my food was bland, at best. I don't know that much of anything is made from scratch. It felt very processed. None of us had anything great to say about their food and we're all pretty easy to please. No alcohol on Sundays... I know this isn't their fault, but it definitely would have made us go somewhere else had we known ahead of time. There is a line on their menu saying they will charge parents if they don't properly parent their kids. We asked what they meant and she said something vague about them breaking something. It was off putting to say the least. Service was okay. No smiles or warm welcomes but she did get our food to us quickly and refill our drinks. Since it was late getting in I had ordered a veggie plate. All my veggies except the bake potatoe were cold. My husband ordered the ribs and was very happy as they were fall off bone good. He enjoyed the coke slaw but collards were cold too. Those that ordered trout seemed pleased with their entree but disappointed in cold sides. The calamari looked like onion rings and tasted like frost bite. No dipping sauce with it. Could not eat it all. One other quirky thing, no straws were available.. The most positive thing was our server and atmosphere as you had great views of the river. She kept our drinks refilled and seemed to enjoy her work. I spent my Wednesday evening here with my family. Waited an hour with most alcohol gone. When we were FINALLY served dinner my chicken came out raw. RAW. RAW. RAW. when we asked to see the chef/owner we were told by our server that he had recently choked out a customer. So we avoided that conflict. Our nice server tried to pay for our meal because the owner would not cover it. We ended up paying directly for the meal overall because the owner is a piece of trash. Do not ever come here ever. Our table outside seemed like a great idea but there so many flies that we had to move indoors. We were not the only ones who had to come inside. Grouper was overcooked, and the blackened was burnt. Rice was dry and weird, butter beans were way too salty. Steak was tough and mashed potatoes were watery. We didn't bother with dessert. For what we paid, it should have been better. It should have been enjoyable food. I don't care how nice the view is, if the food sucks, I'm not interested. Won't be returning. read more

I would like to give this place a negative star. To start with we were told it was a 30 min wait and ended up waiting an hour plus. Second the food didn't qualify for the price being charge and the icing on the cake is the owner approached our table after we paid our bill and asked us to leave so other people could seat in our spot. We've been coming here for over 20 years. We love it so much, we've even driven up from Atlanta for the meal and driven back the same day. I will say, in the past 3-5 years the food has not been as good as it was in the past. The rolls used to be the bomb but now they are kind of rock like. After a really long hike and getting lost On a trail we found this beacon of happiness ! Today is our daughters birthday the reason we came up to the mountains anyway . We got seated luckily by the river. Sadly no alcohol served on Sunday . Started with fish dip which was great ,all four of us had trout one lemon pepper, two almond on pecan all of them was great !! Salad very good and fresh as well. For dessert blackberry cobbler and brownie sundae both great but cobbler was the winner!! The only small problem we had was bread didn't arrive until after we had finished all of our food because apparently kitchen kept running out and we had to ask for drink refills. Kids chicken tenders is 2 tiny pieces of chicken that were awful! I ordered steak medium. It was definitely not medium and looked like it came out of a microwave, never touched a grill. I have never left a bad review, but due to talking to the manager/owner and his rude response when we told him the food was awful, here I am. Do not waste your time or money! From the owner to the wait staff, service is the worst I have experienced in a long time. Food is overcooked and not fresh. Ribs were obviously frozen prior to cooking. We informed the very rude waiter that the water had a fishy taste, and is reply was "yeah, our water has been a little sketchy lately." Wow! My son then asked for a straw with his drink and received the response "we don't do straws." My guess is just poor leadership and lack of training.
