This place knocks it out of the park. My husband and I were looking for a good smothered/wet burrito and the mojado did not disappoint. We got the carne asada - the meet was chunky and tender. In addition, we ordered margaritas and beer - DELISH. We didn't try it but their tequila tasting menu really topped it off. The best part was the service. We walked in to chipper staff who were happy to tell us about the menu and just generally did a great job serving. We will return here. HECK, we may even be regulars now. A solid dining and bar addition to the Uptown district. I've been a three times since their soft opening. Best chicken burrito in the area - tasty and not too big. I like that it's wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla, they also appear to melt the cheese inside it as opposed to just dumping a handful of cold shredded cheese on it. I also like that the bar has three large TV for watching sports. For some strange reason bar/restaurants in Oakland are anti-TV. It use to drive me crazy trying to find a clean good upscale bar in a safe parking area to get dinner at the bar and watch a game especially since I'm not a pizza and hamburger/sandwich eater - having an iPhone with streaming and earbuds has mostly solved this but it is nice to have a spot with TVs in the bar. I can really think of just a few others - Grand Lake Kitchen, Wood Tavern, Golden Squirrel, Beer Baron... and now TODOS. read more

He explained that staffing with the right people is extra hard these days (as I KNOW we are all experiencing). Went in because of a different review about the nachos! They had all different types of meat including vegan options. We got the carne asada nachos- they were delicious (not on the current menu btw). I also tried the Mexican pot de creme dessert- so delectable! The service was really fast and the place was not too crowded. Todos was OUTSTANDING! We started with the chips, salsa and guacamole, elote con queso and queso fundido, all of which were excellent. The chips were plentiful, warm, thick and delicious, the salsa and guac fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend the spicy margarita to wash it all down. Beautifully handcrafted cocktail with the exact amount of heat - enough to really taste the jalapeno without leaving your lips burning. We then had the shrimp & fish tacos and the burrito bowl with chicken. WOW! We loved both dishes, finding the fish and shrimp fresh, the breading light and crisp, the lime crema offering a bright and zingy note to the tacos and the chicken superbly cooked. The prices are exceptional and the service top notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, hard-working and truly cared about our satisfaction with every aspect of our experience there. Based off all the advertised photos I thought I was gonna get 2. I thought wrong. The batter could be better and it also smelled a lil fishy. The battered fish reminded me of fish and chips from a carnival. Burrito is the size of a chipotle burrito. The photos are super deceiving bc they look huge. But I started getting full 2/3 of the way. If you are a big eater then 1 wont be enough. Not a fan of wheat tortillas. Beans were overpowering and made me supper full. Tasted like a bean burrito. They gave a good amount of steak though. Steak needs a lil fat bits to it for added flavor. Didnt see or taste any sour cream. Guac and cheese was light. Rice could be a little fluffier, there were a couple bites of undone rice. Street tacos: They were whatever not bad not great. For $4 each, I expect greatness. They are worth their taco Tuesday pricing. 3 for $7 def not 3 for $12. Salsa: was given only enough salsa for one of my orders. But the salsa helped the meal alot but def need more herbs and a lot more spice, very underwhelming. Overall I would have to think about returning. I do wanna try the drink and dessert though so we'll see. But if you are in the area and craving this kind of cuisine, I would still recommend. It was decent with room for improvement. I love the CA impossible Burrito, as someone who lived in San Diego I can attest that it's a legit CA Burrrito. The chips and Guac are really good, the chips are thick and seasoned. The menu was pretty simple and had a reasonable selection of easy-to-eat choices. The prices seemed a bit high - about 10%-15%. The quantities of food were decent and the flavors were great. The volume of the music definitely needed to be lowered so that a conversation with dining companions could be held without yelling. The waiter was very friendly and helpful young guy from Honduras. If my review were to stop here, I would give the place four stars. But wait! There is more! Where things went off the rails was with the rest of the waiter's performance. He took the order, the food came out, he reappeared immediately to drop off small plates, napkins, and cutlery. And then he disappeared. My companion and I sat there for what seemed like an eternity (probably closer to ten minutes) before we spotted our waiter flitting around all of the tables, offering them free samples of the cocktail of the evening. Our table was toward the end of his journey, and we took the opportunity to order dessert. We learned a few minutes later that we ordered was not available, so we made another choice. The waiter arrived a bit later with our dessert - it was fresh, tasted great, pretty much perfect. By now, however, the experience has dropped to three stars. But wait! There is more! Dessert was finished, cocktails (free and purchased) were gone, water glasses were empty, and plates and cutlery were stacked nicely to broadcast, "We are done! Check, please!" I keep looking around for the waiter, but he was missing in action - again! I finally spotted him hovering at the far end of the bar, near the kitchen entrance. Was he looking around to see the status of his tables (I think no more than three or four, ours included)? Nope. He was busy looking down in front of himself. I figured he was entering orders into, or printing checks from, a point-of-sale system. After watching this carry on for another eternity (again, probably closer to ten minutes), I got up from the table and walked over. At the last moment he glanced up and saw me. He frantically tried to hide his cellphone on which he had been preoccupied with browsing, texting, or conducting some other unnecessary activity that took his attention away from his customers. So now we are down to two stars. But wait! There is more! Our waiter was not exactly trying to hide his behavior from his colleagues or other diners sitting at the bar. What he was doing was clearly visible to the bartender, as well as to a woman standing next to him whose carriage conveyed that she had more of a managerial role. One star it is. I wanted to try Todos because it was a new business in my neighborhood, I wanted to support and I like Mexican food! I received advertisement postcards. I had emailed the business with a food question but never heard back. I went to Todos on a Friday around 5 or 5:30. i walked up to the building and the door was locked, it looked dark, but I saw people inside. I wasn't sure why the door was closed and locked, it was a beautiful day, and no one from inside seemed to be looking out to let me in. I found another door, although it too was closed, but unlocked so I got inside. Meanwhile I saw a young man coming in and out - I wondered if he worked there - he was talking and he said something to me about working there but he was off. At the counter, no one was there, I didn't see anyone ordering food or eating. There was a sign on the counter that said to order at the bar. I was feeling skeptical - where are the customers? Where are the staff? I kind of wanted to leave, but I walked to the bar where people were getting tipsy. I asked the bartender if food was being made. She said yes, and told me to sit at the bar. I wasn't going to sit at the bar, I was there to order takeout. There was confusion among the staff about what to do with me, I should've left then. But the bartender finally came over to the counter and took my order. As I sat on the bench waiting, random staff came in and out and exchanged brief conversation. The place felt confusing and unstructured. I worried about what my food was going to taste like. My food finally was ready - I ordered flautas and got some hot sauce. It was $16. When I got home, the food looked good. But the flautas were dry and unflavorful. The side salad was wimpy. The hot sauces didn't do much to improve the flavor. I thought I was getting refried beans, but it was more like a sauce. At 3 am, my bowels had the reaction I was worried about. I will never go to Todos again. It's a disappointment when I can't support a new, local restaurant. read more

Happy hour starts at 4:00 p.m. I arrived at 3:59 and ordered a Margarita and was charged the regular (non-happy-hour) price. When I pointed this out, I was told that it was too bad, but I'd come one minute too early. I sent the manager a letter about this by snail mail and never heard a response. We arrived and the game wasn't on, we politely asked the bartender to put it on and were met with a massive serving of attitude. Ten minutes passed and I politely asked again, same bartender was appallingly rude. After 20 minutes of sitting at the bar (which was not at all crowded and had two bartenders working), we had to ASK if we could order something. Second guy just as rude as the first. Brought our drinks eventually, didn't even bother to place a napkin under the cocktail. The two stars are for the great interior and decent food.
