My husband had cheese curds and chicken bacon ranch wrap with fries. The wrap was generous and chicken was tender and fried. I had the chicken salad sandwich with fries. I have not had a chicken salad sandwich in a very long time and was not disappointed. The chicken was chunky, complimented with sweet cranberries and served on wheat toast. Great friendly fast service in a historic building right in the heart of New Glarus. It was Oktoberfest so big crowds in town but they handled it very well. I appreciated that they could make my chicken salad sandwich on a gluten free bun for only $1 extra. I chose the zesty bean salad as my side as the knowledgeable waitress said the French fries were not made in a dedicated fryer. It was nice to have an alternative that was so delicious. We elected to dine in the huge outdoor area....and I mean huge, with various levels and many tables that had sun umbrellas. Awesome. Our server was super personable and attentive. In New Glarus on a Thursday, we decided to check out Tofflers for dinner for 2 reasons... 1. Their menu looked really good and 2. They had Amazon Prime and it was Thursday Night Football. Upon arriving, we were greeted immediately and got a high top table on the bar side so we could see the TV. We asked them if they could put the football game on and that was immediately done for us! It was quite busy during our time there but the server was very attentive and friendly! We tried the friend pickles and cheese curds, which were delicious! We mainly drank Busch Light cans but I was delighted, being in Wisconsin for the night, to see a Grasshopper on the menu so I got that and it was so yummy! My husband tried a peanut butter Old Fashioned. For our entrees, my husband ordered the Knuckle Sandwich, which was beef cheeks, something he hadn't tried before. I ordered the French Dip. We had all plans to eat at the restaurant but as it was getting busier there was a group of 4 who were clearly just standing around until a table came open. They must have noticed that we had a 4 top even though there were only 2 of us and thought they could take it upon themselves (one lady) to set her wine glass on our table and lean on our table, which made it shake constantly. We were hoping it was only temporary and they'd find a table but it just went on and on. Instead of getting into to any sort of argument, we simply asked our server if we could get our food to go, which she happily obliged. We stopped here for breakfast because they had a breakfast menu on the web. The place has been a few different restaurants and bars throughout the years and this was the first time I have had the food from the current restaurant. The place has all the charm of an old structure with the wood ceiling, floors and walls but decorated with modern colors and looked like a nice place. The bar has seating in front with a dining room in the back. The breakfast menu is small but we all found something to eat. The corn beef hash was calling me but would it be can or something house made. The food was slow coming at about 25 minutes but I was not in a hurry. The sourdough toast looked very promising but it was slightly better than average and not that bakery artisan kind that you find sometimes. The sunny sunny side eggs were were perfect. The corn beef hash was good looking with big chunks of corn beef with more beef than potatoes so no skimping on the meat here. The corn beef hash had small dice potatoes, green peppers, red and white onion which totally satisfied my corn beef hash breakfast. On a side note, I didn't have the coffee but two tables complained that it was not hot and our table said that's it's not good coffee. I had no problem with my breakfast and I would definitely stop back if my friends would come back. read more

This place is completely wonderful! We got here right at noon on a Saturday, a game day. Seating: Seated right away, the host stand was right by the door. Obviously the seating for the low tops were full, but the high tops were empty of people. And tthey have outdoor seating which was not filled. The large TVs made for good viewing of the game. Our server was the sweetest most attentive server to not only us but to anyone who came in. The whole staff worked together too man the desk and help out. Accessibility: The main entrance is a stairs but they do have a handicap entrance in the back. With a sign by the front entrance. The seats for the low tops are very strong and sturdy chairs. The spacing between tables was great to allow you to now be smushed when walking around, no one in our group has an issue. Since this restaurant is in a small older house, the bathrooms are single stall and small. It didnt have any rails or anything and it was a narrow/sharp turn from the door opening to the stall. So I can imagine getting in with a wheelchair would be difficult. Food and Drinks: we ordered the cheese curds, 10/10. Crispy but not oily. They are very "VFW fair stand", completely Midwest staple. My fiancé had a Ruben with fries, can't give a review of the Ruben from my POV. But he said 9/10, it was fresh and crunchy. The meat was tasty! I got to try his fries, 9.5/10 they taste homemade! Very "potato-y". Also my MIL said "this is the best burger I've had in a long time, she had the fungi burger. This place is a must see in town. Chicken pesto sandwich was very bland, the Reuben had 2 pieces of meat on it, little kraut and the meat was extremely tough - most chewed and the left on the plate. " We were then served by one the rudest servers both myself and my friend have ever encountered. After waiting 50 mins for a piece of Avocado Toast and a Breakfast sandwich, I politely asked if she knew when our food was going to be ready, as we had more plans that day. She simply said that "if we would have let the host seat us we would've known the food was going to take awhile." A staple in the neighborhood, Tofflers does a serviceable job with a good beer selection. The Knuckle sandwich was great with pulled beef, Swiss cheese and horseradish sauce on a softly toasted bun. The Sliders were three hand formed beef patties and sweet potato fries were also on point. A step above typical bar fare with attentive staff though short staffing in the kitchen makes for longer wait times. We had a really good time at Tofflers Pub & Grill. The hostess was helpless when we were there and we had a difficult time getting a table or really any information, but we were still able to eventually be seated. They had a live band outside and, based on the following of people there, he was pretty popular in the area. It was really engaging and fun. The food was good and the drinks were plentiful. The bean salad as a side is better than the coleslaw so I would recommend that. We were asked if we needed anything else after we ate and I rambled off all kinds of random things, like jello, cheese cake, carrot cake, it all came back with no we don't have that. We stopped by Tofflers for breakfast Sunday morning at the end of a weekend camping while waiting for the brewery to open. The location is nicely situated in the main area of shops and restaurants in New Glarus, and is welcoming and casual. We were able to use our free beer coupons received from the brewery, and our breakfasts were delicious. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which was a little salty but hit the spot, and came with good hash browns (for only $6.95!). My significant other ordered the daily special scramble, which was also excellent. The service was pleasant, prompt, and attentive. Our breakfasts ended up being under $20, which is pretty fantastic for two meals, and were definitely a good deal. I would return to Tofflers on our next visit to the brewery, and would recommend it as a good place to stop by. read more

Still a good place for live music but it is now about 1 to 2 dollars per drink higher than all the other places within blocks. My favorite menu item, the catfish, is gone. I've had a few instances of gastric disturbance that could only be due to eating there. I just got a Reuben sandwich there last night for $12.50 that had no more than 2 ounces of meat. Tofflers is not what I think of when I think about going to a pub- this place is bright and open. It even has carpet! It's in a historic building, which is nice, and I liked the vibe overall. It was a nice change of pace. It looks like there's a bar area, more of a sit down area and a patio. We stuck to the indoor bar area. We had a super nice server, who was efficient and on top of things. I required that we order fried cheese curds, since we were in Wisconsin, and since I'd read someone else call them the best ever. These did not disappoint and truly were the best I'd ever had! I've had cheese curds in the past that were all breading and air inside, and real tiny ones that get over done. These were about the size of half my finger, perfectly cooked, hot (not not too hot) and totally filled with cheese. I recommend the remoulade option too for dipping. That was fantastic. I am dreaming of those curds! My guy and I also ordered burgers. We were not asked how we wanted them cooked, but they came out juicy and like a medium well- fine by me! They had great flavor, the bacon that I added to mine was semi crispy, and the bbq sauce I added was a perfect amount- like a nice drizzle, not a big cupful of it on there. The bread it came on was also amazing. It was a white roll but so soft and bready- not fake bagged bun-like, if you get what I mean. I've never been so into a burger bun before! The fries were just OK though, nothing to write home about. Now, onto drinks-- you can use the New Glarus coupon there (from the brewery) and they had 4/5 of their tap options which that applied to. And yes, there are 5 new glarus taps there! My guy got another craft beer that he loved, and I got a Not Your Father's Rootbeer in the bottle. The drinks were like $4.50 each too, which blew us away.
