TOI is such a fun LA find! The second you walk in, you know this isn't your typical Thai restaurant. The dark lighting, rock-and-roll memorabilia, neon, lanterns, and all the crazy things hanging from the ceiling give this place a funky, old-school LA vibe that I absolutely loved. We ordered the Pad Thai and spicy fried rice, and both were excellent. The Pad Thai was packed with flavor with plenty of chicken, noodles, bean sprouts, and that perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy. Great portion too! The spicy fried rice was probably my favorite. Tons of flavor, a nice kick of heat, plenty of meat, and fresh cilantro and cucumber to balance everything out. This is the kind of fried rice you keep going back for even after you're already full. The atmosphere really puts this place over the top. It's quirky, dark, a little weird, and completely unapologetic about it exactly the kind of place that makes LA dining fun. Great food, huge portions, cool people, and an atmosphere you won't forget. Finally back home I returned to one of my favorite spots in town. Once again, they did not disappoint. The pad Thai was good (didn't find too any peanuts but I forgive 'em) and the rice is just as I remember, Tom Kha is good/spicy with fresh veggies, the service was good, bathrooms were clean, and wait time was a little longer than I'd hoped but they redeemed themselves with the good vibes. So sad this place is struggling to stay open - I have been here 3 times and I have had great food every time! The Tom Yum Kai was great and the fried rice I've had. We ordered Pad Thai, Pad see ew, Pinapple fried rice, crispy wontons, and beef satay. Crispy wontons were a great appetizer. We were bummed they didn't have the BBQ chicken dish. Maybe next time. Came here for dinner before hitting a show at Pantages and left very happy. TOI on Sunset is one of those places that feels casual and cool but still takes the food seriously. I ordered the salmon and it was perfectly cooked tender, flavorful, and clearly fresh. My wife got the prik king and absolutely loved it. Great balance of spice and flavor, and not overly heavy. We finished with the matcha pie, which was a surprise standout. Not too sweet, really smooth, and a great way to end the meal. This place is so much fun! The atmosphere and decor are rock themed yet with a Thai influence. It's very L.A. especially it being right on Sunset. I tried their vegetarian curry and we had a veggie noodle dish, but I cannot remember what it was called. Both were soo delicious! It was packed when we got there, so we got to sit on the stage at a table where you sit on the floor. It was a lot of fun! Our server was really good, he was busy, but still gave great service. This is acute unassuming spot located on Sunset. If you drive too fast, you'll miss it. Inside, it's got a rocker hodgepodge vibe/look to it. It was...interesting. The restroom have the same vibe. There is seatings at tables or on fluffy pillows on the floor. That was cute. You can watch a movie while you eat. We were watching Spinal Tap (RIP, filmmaker, Rob Reiner). Rachel, was very attentive to our table. The food was good, not outstanding. The Pad Thai was too sweet and the shrimp still had the tail (not a fan). The lunch special started with a salad and then out came the meal with generous portions of veggies, and smoked tofu sliced and sauced to perfection! BUT minus one star, they put the fried rice with egg on the plate! I notified the server they changed it to the white rice quickly. I then devoured the meal it was a perfect blend of flavors savory and a hint of sweet mixed among bell peppers onions spring onions and smoked tofu slices. Ordered Chicken Pad Thai via DoorDash from here and it was pretty solid. The price for the amount of food you get was good and the container retained the heat pretty well. I also liked how there was a generous portion of meat. I wish the chicken was more flavored though. It was also missing a crunchy element, I wish there were crushed peanuts. Music was great. Rock-N-Roll plays in the background. Parking can be tricky as you have to park on the street - READ THE STREET SIGNS!! The service was great! I have been coming to this restaurant since the mid 80's! A few things have changed which did kinda bum me out. The Peanut Sauce used to have some depth of flavor. Now it tastes like watered down peanut butter with brown sugar. The Beef Satay was tough to eat. Very chewy. The Rad Na noodles needed a little more char - but, I would order it again. I came here on a Tuesday evening with a group of 4! We had no reservation (I don't think this place takes reservations) but since it was a Tuesday night, it wasn't busy so we got a table immediately. Firstly, this place has such a COOL VIBE! All the posters of musicians all over the walls, the artwork, the music, the mood lighting - sooo cool. Most importantly, the FOOD was just as incredible as the atmosphere they created. I think the pad thai might be the best pad thai dish I've found in LA since moving here 2.5 years ago - LOVED it and definitely my favorite dish of the evening! The pineapple fried rice was really nice and moist; I feel like I often find fried rice to taste so dry and this was definitely NOT the case here! The yellow curry was reallllly flavorful, I think if I were to order that again, I would also get a side of white rice with it to help soak up the buttery-ness of the curry. These 3 dishes were all able to be split between 4 people and there was even leftovers! So for 3 entrees and 4 drinks, the total was a bit over $80 which was really great considering the amount of food we got. There was also easy-to-find street parking. But let me just tell you...I am never eating out again specifically because of this heinous excuse for a restaurant. A few weeks ago I finished a very long 12 hour day, and despite having a self-imposed rule to avoid eating out, because everything, especially restaurants in LA, is a scam, I found myself starving at 11:30 pm with no food in my house. "It's fine," I tell myself, "just pick something up and call it a treat" I say. Thai town is too far and this dump is close and open late, so I drove to the restaurant to place an order in person. No delivery fee, I say, no service charge. Quick and spendthrift. The host--hello, anyone working here?--wandered over after 5 minutes and took my order. A chicken pad thai and a coconut soup, which is admittedly uninspired on my part but also, I figured, extremely fool proof. First mistake. I was instructed to sit and wait 15 minutes for my food, during which time the host stood steadfast scrolling on Grindr instead of, I don't know, cleaning up the filth that was covering this restaurant. Something in my gut told me that I had just ordered a pile of dog food, and the total was, somehow, $50. For noodles and a soup. I even tipped, which made me feel like the worlds biggest asshat when, after getting home, I opened up this steaming pile of doodoo to realize that homeboy had sent in a shrimp pad thai instead of the chicken. Just kidding it wasn't steaming it was friggin cold. And in some world I GUESS this would be a harmless mistake except I'm allergic to shrimp, and also there was like, one other person in the restaurant so I think it was a case of being high on the job and not overwhelmed, so that's great. And then there was the heinous, $18 coconut soup, which was literally a reheated can of coconut milk with some button mushrooms tossed in for good measure. Also, did I mention that this place was actually filthy? Like...grime on all of the tables. I thought I would get scabies or some new strain of some new virus born out of the sticky scum covering all of the tables. Literally, what the actual ass are you people doing? I am...speechless at how crappy this place is. Maybe, just maybe, if the order was correct and served hot, and came with a spring roll and was $23 after tax instead of $50, I wouldn't still be thinking about how GD ripped off I feel. Like, give me my money back and also please shutter your doors. I'm sorry but everything, EVERYTHING is a scam, especially this craphole gringo Thai restaurant. To start off I ordered some fried crap wontons and mango sticky rice, although there wasn't mango they do have pineapple and lychee sticky mango not the same but gotta tell you that the sticky mango itself was bomb. I had friends in town for the weekend from NYC, and they had been raving about this place for months. Last night, we finally got to try it out. Parking on Sunset wasn't a problem, even for our late dinner around 10 PM. They stay open until midnight. Upon walking in, I felt nothing but good vibes, like being teleported back to the 80s. I absolutely loved the setup with the big screen and living room vibe. The ambiance was great, and the customer service was excellent. Despite the late hour, our server was nice and attentive. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, and it did not disappoint. I wish I had taken a picture of our chicken and dumplings with the yummy creamy sauce--they were truly incredible. As a 4 year resident of the area, this has been my go to for late night dinners. It's always the top choice when the party is 4+ so we can do family style. Big plus to them being open late. Dropped by with some out of towners after not coming in for some time. There wasn't a wait, but the only table available for a party of 4 was the one that required you to sit on the floor. I had no issue with sitting on the floor. My friend asked if we could take over the table next to ours that freed up, but we were told no as it was a table for 5 and there was 4 of us. Guess what, that table for 5 ended up being free the whole time we were there. The food here is always decent. On this visit though, our server forgot to put in one of our orders which when I had asked for initially, he repeated to me. My whole table heard me place the order in. We were all still a little hungry, but decided to skip dessert or reorder what we didn't get because we were over the whole thing. this has to be the worst place i've ever eaten. i'm not hard to please at all, but the service and food were both horrible. at first, we called and asked what their availability would probably look like in 30 minutes, the lady answered with, "well i can't predict the future." i was at such a loss of words and should've taken that as a red flag to not eat here. when we arrived and got sat, the waitress pretty much did not say a single word to us and turned her back to us whenever she would come by -- from the time of handing us the menus, putting down the plates of food, giving us the bill. she had a frown on her face the entire time, and it was kind of a buzzkill. besides that, the food was not good. we ordered the honey duck which was extremely dry and chewy. the pad thai was oddly smoky and overly sweet. the chicken dumplings that were fried, ended up being tofu. the ambiance is nice, but it's hard to see the color of what you're eating or even read the menu to be honest. the entire plates of pad thai and honey duck were untouched after the first bite, we felt so wasteful but it was genuinely inedible. read more

As a rule i dont use credit cards at bars because its dangerous and you could end up with a huge bill or get drunk and lose your card! . One time a woman had ordered multiple exotic drinks on my tab without my permission. So i carry CASH and leave the plastic at home.
