I visited Tokido Ramen in Chino with my boyfriend tonight between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM, and unfortunately we left before receiving our food because of what we witnessed. The server who took our order was also working as the cashier and preparing the food. While we were waiting, we observed him handling food with his bare hands. He then touched the cash register and credit card terminal, went back to preparing ramen, turned around and put his hands in his pockets, wiped his nose with his finger, and then immediately resumed handling the food without washing his hands or changing gloves (he wasn't wearing any to begin with). As customers, it was extremely concerning to watch this happen in real time. After seeing that sequence of events, my boyfriend and I no longer felt comfortable eating the food we had ordered. We decided to cancel our order and leave. In addition to the food handling concerns, the employees did not appear to be dressed in a way that reflected basic food safety practices. We did not see gloves, hair restraints, or any visible handwashing after touching multiple contaminated surfaces before returning to food preparation. I understand that different restaurants have different policies regarding glove use, and gloves themselves are not a substitute for proper handwashing. However, what I witnessed was repeated cross-contamination with handling food, touching the register, putting hands in pockets, wiping a nose, and then returning directly to food preparation without washing hands. That is what caused me to lose confidence. I sincerely hope the owner takes this review seriously and addresses these food safety concerns with every employee immediately. I decided to come here based on a FB post as well as the comments I saw on Yelp. I took the family and a few friends. The facility is small and located in a busy plaza. Parking was a lil cramped. The restaurant was small. Very similar to the size you would see in Japan. The walls were definitely anime themed, but it looked very cramped. All their supplies seemed to be stacked by the walls and counters. The staff was cordial and curt. Not friendly like the video. The waiter showed some friendliness at the end after I cracked a joke. The place WAS NOT CROWDED whatsoever. There were maybe 2 other tables besides ours. We ordered taoyaki, chicken wings, calamari and edamame for appetizers. I usually break down the ratings by each dish, but in this case they were the same ...so I will summarize. The meat (chicken and calamari) was over fried, dried and tasteless. The taoyaki was burnt on the outside on a few but the middle was yummy. The edamame was the best appetizer. We also ordered drinks such as Thai tea, lemonade and green hot tea. The hot tea was made from green powder which they did not even stir. It literally clumped in my cup. I had to stir it myself. The container was cute. The drinks were verrrrry bland. Especially the lemonade. Extremely watered down. So we ordered several ramens. The special spicy tonkatsu-beef-dancdan ramen.... All of them tasted the same. Like water with spice. Noodles were watered down or overcooked. Unfortunately, I cannot say I enjoyed my meal or atmosphere. That is why the overall rating is 2. I wanted to make sure that it wasn't just me, so I asked the other four people that join me for dinner for their opinion. Their opinions were either the same as mine or actually thought of the food as tasting worse. I would say if they would add more flavor to the broth instead of just making it spicy, that would make a humongous difference. Also, for the thinner noodles, maybe not overcook them. In regards to the drinks, I would strongly suggest to add more of whatever flavor it is that the customers ordering. They were truly watered down. The appetizers, I feel were just over fried and bland. A good suggestion is to maybe have a round table tasting. The food and service was good. Their Thai iced tea with boba is very refreshing. It wasn't the best ramen I've ever had but still decent. The pork maschu buns were very good. The water cups with carafe on the table are a nice little touch. Unfortunately it was a warm day and they don't seem to have central air, so it was a little warm in the restaurant. Our ramen was the right level of spice and packed with rich, deep flavor. The portion of noodles was perfect & each bite was just right. The place was also super clean and had a great vibe. Life moves and goes on. It has been at least a year since I've last been to Tokido and I decided to stop by like I used to all the time. I got my usual Toki spicy special ramen with 10 piece gyoza. It seems that their seasoning, broth, etc appears to have changed, and more in a bland way. The spiciness is still there, the noodles are good, the extra ingredients are fine; however, the broth itself was lacking in savoriness compared to before and seemed more watered down to say the least. I'm not sure what changed honestly but it's a huge let down. I will say though that their gyoza is probably one of the best gyozas I've had at any ramen shop by far. Pricing was a bit higher, but that's expected with inflation. Portion sizes looked about the same. Service was good as the worker was a nice kid who checked on me frequently. I do want to try their curry as I did before as it was good so I do plan on coming back at some point to get it with their gyoza. But, as it stands, I can't say I recommend this like I used to. read more

I got the spicy miso ramen. It was very flavorful, but definitely on the spicy side! I like spicy food a lot but it was extra spicy, not complaining.. just a heads up! It also comes with ground pork not the chashu pork that usually comes with the ramen, so that was different, but good. My sister got the cheese lovers ramen, she also said it was spicy. My mom got the butter and corn soup (I didn't take a pic of it) she said it was different but she enjoyed it too. Tried Tokido Ramen in Chino Hills and were pleasantly surprised by the flavor and service. We had calamari, fried soft shell crab, and panko shrimp to start--each one crispy and well-prepared. The Tonkotsu ramen with garlic oil was rich and satisfying, and the version with black garlic oil added a beautifully smoky depth. We added extra corn for a little sweetness and it balanced the broth perfectly. We also tried Boba milk tea and lychee tea with boba. I thought Tokido was just okay. I got the original ramen and I thought it lacked flavor. Perhaps it was just a bad batch or something but I felt like it was very bland. I did appreciate the richness of the broth, but it lacked salt to me. The two pieces of pork in the ramen were a little dry to me and it had a lot of green onions. If you like your green onions heavy in your ramen, then I can see how this would be your thing. I thought the choice of noodle was pretty unique. Still an egg noodle, but it was thin like instant ramen. I do enjoy that texture of noodle. Overall, it wasn't a horrible experience, but I do wish the ramen had more flavor. Wish they were cooked just a tad bit longer or even fried. Thats my preference. Edamame was good, we added the garlic chili. Again 1 spice level. Its loaded with chili. There was only 1 server and 1 cook when i went. Wasnt busy at all so they were attentive. We were the only ones there sooo. Personally the ramen broth wasn't something I would crave or want again.
