Love, love, love this neighborhood place - still it is the only restaurant I know that serves Shu Mei. Please keep it on your menu.

I really enjoy this place, the fish is very fresh. There is a bit of a limited roll selection ( a few more selections without cream cheese would be nice) but the rolls are all quite good- the Tejas is a favorite. It is not really a type of place to linger in my opinion, its also very busy during peak hours. read more

First off, hats off to the person in charge of decorating this place. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with an awesome gallery wall of Japanese themed artwork. Further into the restaurant, there's a high vaulted room with a myriad of lanterns adorning the ceiling, adding to the overall ambience. We were feeling particularly peckish that night so we may have over ordered, ending up with 5 dishes for 2 people. For starters, we had the cucumber salad (which was a bit sweeter than expected), the agedashi tofu (which was good), and the tempura brussel sprouts. For the mains, we had the westside ramen with the house roasted pork belly (average noodles but great meat) and the beef bowl with fried rice. Went here for lunch on a Saturday. When several people showed up as they were opening at 11am, I knew it was probably pretty good. I wasn't disappointed. I was seated immediately at the bar. I ordered 2 kinds of sushi - spicy tuna & tiger rolls. They didn't have vegetable tempura on the menu, but the server said they could make it. The food came in about 15 minutes. Everything was very good and the server was very attentive. Prices were fair. Would come back here again. read more

This is one of my spots to go and i never turn down a chance to go here. The place is not huge and it has a modern feel and the lanterns hanging from the roof add to the appeal. Well you wont to hear about the food i am getting to that. I start off with the Tok Fries as usual and they are just awesome. they are fresh cut potatoes with a nice crisp and served with a special mayonnaise and toasted sesame seed combo dusting whachamajigit. I dont ask i just eat! Then i get the "westside" with a extra serving of house POKE! (Pork), cause after eating four of these deliciously carved wonders i get sleepy. This is all i need from this lovely place to place a smile on my face and make my day just so wonderful. read more

Environment: I love the new design of the restaurant. It is vibrant and exciting and fun. Also lots of new quirky designs that are fun to look at . Food: to begin I had the miso soup . It was so scrumptious and fresh . One of the best I've ever had . For my lunch entry I had the crunchy roll . My goodness was it outstanding . Customer service : the customer service here is wonderful . They are very thoughtful and attentive . If you haven't been here it is a Fort Worth must ! I totally recommend this place to anyone ! Great service and great sushi. What more could I ask for? We ordered several rolls to dine on and we were not disappointed. After reading the reviews on Yelp, we decided to get the Dan Dan roll, the volcano roll, the cajun roll, the Tejas roll, and a cucumber skin sashimi roll. Our orders came out promptly and all of the rolls were fresh and delicious. The group favorites included the Volcano roll (tender and delicious with scallops) as well as the cajun roll (creamy crawfish with a hint of heat). The rolls were all of nice size and portion and we enjoyed the casual atmosphere of the restaurant. The next time I'm in Fort Worth, I wouldn't hesitate to come back for more sushi as well as to try out the other entrees on their menu! read more

This cute little spot was absolutely amazing! I've been wanting to try it and my boyfriend and I finally made it. It was so so tasty! Their tok fries were definitely unique and so yummy!! The PERFECT CRUNCH. Their cucumber basil drink was so tasty and my boyfriend doesn't drink alcohol or love the taste of cucumber but loved it too. I got the salmon meal...I ATE IT UP IN LIKE 10 minutes! So crispy and rich in flavor. The salmon was baked to perfection. Cute vibe and decor!! read more

My Girlfriend and I were in Ft Wort visiting my sister and her husband, along with my brother and his Girlfriend. This was our first dinner out together. What is great about this place is we know the owner and head chef. It is also within walking distance to my Sister and husband's house. The food here is outstanding. This restaurant is incredible and if I make sure to have my reservation set as soon as I know I'm making a trip to Fort Worth. The "on the beach" roll, the tokyokonomiyaki are great to start - but you absolutely have to order the "tok fries" (these are the best French fries in the dfw area). When it comes to the entrees it is very simple - get a beef bowl with extra beef. You don't even need to know what it is, just order it and wait for it to blow you away. All in all this place is incredible and one of the brightest spots in Fort Worth - and of course a restaurant this fantastic is only outdone by the amazing owners who are present on an almost nightly basis. Honestly I was very excited to try this restaurant because I really love Japanese food. Our experience started out well, but ended poor. We started with the spicy edamame and konomiyaki and it was delicious. Then we ordered our main course and the sushi was just not very good. The fish wasn't fresh, and the flavor mixes just wasn't working out. I am a bit of a sushi snob, as it is my favorite food! But my high expectations of this restaurant were diminished greatly after one bite. I don't plan a return back to this restaurant. read more

It was an interesting hidden place, little cozy and comfort environment. I have the westside ramen, and there are room for improvement. Service is ok because they are training new employee. It is clean and overall good experience. I got the rock shrimps as starter but just deep fired shrimps. It is kind of interesting to see Brussel sprouts at Japanese restaurant. I'm actually heartbroken writing this review. This was my second favorite sushi restaurant eighth next to shinjuku station. Not sure what's happened, but over the years both restaurants have gotten worse and worse. My wife and I went for dinner. Miso soup and appetizers were fine. The sushi was only okay. We got rolls, but some of them are so drenched in sauces you can't be bothered to taste the fish. Then the sushi pieces were so undersized. The ikura was the skinniest things I've ever seen. Worse of all, we got a couple cocktails and they were so watered down, it seems like they just made it in bulk and poured it out. Even worse, the hamachi Kama was served pretty rare to the point you couldn't get the fish off the bone. They apparently don't make much except for one customer that get it that way. Not sure why you'd change a dish for one person...Disappointing. I'm not sure if they got new owners, but it definitely was not like this. They used to have more passion in their work. read more

I really should put this place on my regular rotation list. This was only my second visit not related to a charity event - meaning - 2nd visit where I ordered off the menu. If parking is a challenge on a Monday night I consider that a pretty good sign that I'm in for a treat. My waiter was friendly and very helpful. Shame on me for not getting his name. Beverage of choice was a dirty grey goose martini (shock I know) and it was perfect. I knew I wanted the crab hand roll as I'd had that on my first visit and it melts in your mouth. So...2 of those...I then asked if the Japanese snapper was anything like red snapper. The answer was no but that it is very flaky and that I should give it a try. Went with the 2 pieces of sushi as the sashimi was $18 for 5 pieces. Thought I best spend $10 and make sure I liked it. Next visit I'll go with the sashimi It will melt in my mouth topped with garlic and..darn I dont remember what else. It was perfect. Last item was the wasabi crusted salmon roll. HELLO - I thought I could only get that at Pirhana killer sushi. WRONGO! It was very good. Right down the street from my orange theory location I'm sure I'll return soon. read more

We randomly chose this place after my daughters piano recital. She loves all things Japanese. Great atmosphere and the waitress was kind enough to talk anime with my teen. She still talking about how good the Ramen was and can't wait to go back. This is a hidden gem that needs to be visited by any asIan food loving person out there. We can't wait to visit again but we'll make a reservation next time because we tried to stop by for a last minute dinner this past weekend and they had 1 1/2 wait. Westside Ramen with pork loin is what I order when I'm starving and hangry: the broth is always perfectly seasoned and not overly salty, and the noodles have a wonderful chew to them! My favorite time to get my ramen fix is around 3 PM any day of the week, which is when there's usually a lull and I can get in and out pretty quickly. When I'm there with friends, we share the Tok Fries, which are super rich and umami and crispy and full of potato-y goodness! My little brother's go-to is the fish and chips, which pairs the famous Tok Fries with tempura cod filets. My mom's go-to is the caramelized salmon filet with Brussels sprouts, which comes out on a sizzling platter. I usually steal some of her sprouts. All of the sushi and specialty rolls I've tried here are excellent and fresh! read more
