I really should put this place on my regular rotation list. This was only my second visit not related to a charity event - meaning - 2nd visit where I ordered off the menu. If parking is a challenge on a Monday night I consider that a pretty good sign that I'm in for a treat. My waiter was friendly and very helpful. Shame on me for not getting his name. Beverage of choice was a dirty grey goose martini (shock I know) and it was perfect. I knew I wanted the crab hand roll as I'd had that on my first visit and it melts in your mouth. So...2 of those...I then asked if the Japanese snapper was anything like red snapper. The answer was no but that it is very flaky and that I should give it a try. Went with the 2 pieces of sushi as the sashimi was $18 for 5 pieces. Thought I best spend $10 and make sure I liked it. Next visit I'll go with the sashimi It will melt in my mouth topped with garlic and..darn I dont remember what else. It was perfect. Last item was the wasabi crusted salmon roll. HELLO - I thought I could only get that at Pirhana killer sushi. WRONGO! It was very good. Right down the street from my orange theory location I'm sure I'll return soon. read more

We randomly chose this place after my daughters piano recital. She loves all things Japanese. Great atmosphere and the waitress was kind enough to talk anime with my teen. She still talking about how good the Ramen was and can't wait to go back. This is a hidden gem that needs to be visited by any asIan food loving person out there. Westside Ramen with pork loin is what I order when I'm starving and hangry: the broth is always perfectly seasoned and not overly salty, and the noodles have a wonderful chew to them! My favorite time to get my ramen fix is around 3 PM any day of the week, which is when there's usually a lull and I can get in and out pretty quickly. When I'm there with friends, we share the Tok Fries, which are super rich and umami and crispy and full of potato-y goodness! My little brother's go-to is the fish and chips, which pairs the famous Tok Fries with tempura cod filets. My mom's go-to is the caramelized salmon filet with Brussels sprouts, which comes out on a sizzling platter. I usually steal some of her sprouts. The Brunch Bros have had several opportunities to enjoy the different options at Tokyo Cafe. We have to say, it provides a refreshing change to the Camp Bowie area. Location is great and easy to get to, however the parking can get packed during busy hours. The service is always highly attentive and generally positive! Our favorite dish by far and away is the Teriyaki Bowl. The chef's of Tokyo make their own Teriyaki Sauce and it is the best teriyaki bowl we have had. It is almost amazing enough to hold Tokyo at the 5 star level. Majorly the only complaints we have are that the portions are somewhat small (getting full off just a teriyaki bowl isn't easy). If we could only take off a half a star, we would. That being said, there are plenty of great options and the prices are pretty fair. Nothing has ever stopped us from coming here fairly often. read more

Everything is amazing! We have never had anything that we didn't love. Start with the tuna tower.

Love this little place!!! The decor was simple yet cute and kept very clean. Staff was very also very courteous. We got the teriyaki chicken bento and the Tan Tan ramen but that Tan Tan ramen was the real MVP. It had the perfect amount of spice and tasted amazing! The only issue is the poached egg in the ramen was a bit on the bland side and so was the miso soup. Excited to come back here again and try other things on the menu! read more

First time trying this place. Came here for an early dinner with my small children yesterday, wasn't that busy when we arrived, around 4:30ish. The decor is really nice, the set of the restaurant is very different and unique, but pretty cool. We ordered some fried gyoza for an appetizer, miso soup and steamed white rice for my children and the teriyaki chicken bowl for myself. Didn't wait long for the food. All of it was well presented and tasted delicious. The only thing I noticed was that the portions were a little small for the prices (mainly the main courses) but still delicious, like I stated before. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Restrooms very clean, sushi bar and eating area as well. Will come back and try other dishes and appetizers, hopefully very soon. read more

We eventually found it (it looked like a side door) Pick the omakase option. :) You'll get a plethora of dishes and you won't have to do a lot of choosing. After many a trip to Shinjuku Station, their sister property, we decided to check out the birthplace of it all- Tokyo Cafe. We were greeted and ushered to a bright table by the windows. Tony, our server, was incredibly friendly, fun, and helpful. its people like him that make that last component of the meal complete. He was very helpful with getting our selections custom tailored, accurate, and most importantly, attentive, but not too attentive. We got the Tok Fries because, well, they are a must have. A fresh roll or two of spicy yellowtail tuna helps get the palate lively for the meal, so we had to have that, too. For lunch, the 'Build Your Own Bento Box' option was a perfect was to keep the lunch light and to get to try several different items from the menu in one sitting. I settled for the Yakisoba noodles, several maki samples, octopus and cucumber salad, and rare, sliced steak. To say the least, the food was outstanding. Fresh, clean flavors, with great balance and well, of course, a dollop of wasabi. This place was wonderful for lunch, and perusing the menu, we'll definitely be back for dinner sometime soon. Tokyo Cafe exceeded my expectations, even after reading a lot of the rave reviews. Why only four stars then, you may ask? Well... sushi restaurants are a dime a dozen these days... and while Tokyo had some more authentic and unique options, it's not a knock-your-socks-off, dazzling Japanese exprience like Tei Tei Robata in Dallas. Most people seem to think Shinjuku Station (Tokyo Cafe's sister restaurant in Fort Worth) is a unique, five star experience, but I haven't tried it yet. Let me just start off with this: Tokyo Cafe is way nicer inside than I expected. One reviewer said it smelled old and another said it's barely nicer than a Chinese buffet.... nooooo, sir. The restaurant was clean, minimalist, and attractive. No old smell whatsoever. My wife and I ordered the Hamachi Kama ( grilled Yellowtail Tuna collar), which was pretty good and fun to pick at. Lots of flavorful bits to pull from the collar. This is the first time I've tried it, so I have nothing to compare it with. The peppercorn tuna sushi (they call nigiri "sushi" here, and rolls "rolls") was delicious. We tried the white tuna sushi and it was so soft and buttery that we decided to get it in sashimi form too. The Tok Fries were really good. They're fresh cooked and cut french fries (very well executed) served with some kind of spicy mayo and maybe sesame seeds to dip into. While they were excellent, they were also incredibly filling and salty, and maybe took away from the light, fresh vibe of the rest of the meal. Our previous go-to had been Edohana on Hulen, which has always seemed quite fresh but pretty unadventurous. Tokyo Cafe left a really good first impression, and will be in the running for future "where to eat sushi" conversations. read more

Not bad! I went over the summer and what I really enjoyed was the compressed watermelon and pork belly appetizer. It was sweet, savory and a little salty. The pork belly was a tad on the dry side though. The sushi was good, but not that stand out. The unagi nigiri I had was great though. Since the summer I haven't been able to make it bake over here but I'd definitely give it another try. read more

Get the Dynamite rock shrimp and the Tokyo fries! The riblets were good too but not as good as the shrimp. My husband also got the fish and chips and my son got the TanTan Ramen... very good! 3 appetizers, 2 entrees and tea was not expensive at all! The building is somewhat small but spacious at the same time. It is a great place to go with a small group of 4-5. When it comes to the food it is priced very well, they also have happy hour specials on plates! When attending Tokyo Cafe I had tried sushi for the very first time and I was not disappointed. I tried 4 different types of sushi. I had the California Rolls, Cucumber Rolls, Tokyo Rolls and Tempura Rolls. I really enjoyed the Tempora Rolls and would definitely try them again! Overall my experience at Toyko Cafe was great! I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and I would go again and recommend this place to friends. read more

I drove by this place as they were in the process of renovating it, and couldn't wait to finally try it out! I was very surprised when I walked in. It was larger than I expected, and was very modern. We came a little after 5 on a weekday, so there was no wait, but by 6, all the tables were full! I tried their -tokyokonomiyaki, which is a Japanese savory street food "pancake with noodles, egg, green onion, teriyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, and dancing bonito" -atlantic roll: salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, and avocado -philip roll: California roll topped with salmon and chili mayo The rolls were good. Nothing special, but I didn't order anything special, so I guess that's my fault haha. Atlantic is always my go to roll, and I love salmon, so I couldn't help it :P I would advise you to ask for sauce on the side if you don't like too much sauce though (: It was my first time trying a Japanese pancake, and wow! It was delicious!! I could come back just to get it again! Over all, I enjoyed it and will definitely be coming back.
