Little custom opening for takeout orders during covid
    Scotty C.

While Clements Ferry is growing, there's not many options for a quick bite to eat. My buddy lives down the street and we called in a pickup order for lunch. We placed the order and went to pickup ten minutes later. Right away we noticed their takeout setup for covid that they built. It's similar to a drive up bank or a late night gas station were they open a door on their end to put the food in, then you open on your end to collect it... as well as payment ect. They have a table outside with menus taped to it and pens for you to use to sign the CC slip. It was elaborate and well thought out. I had the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and some wanton soup. Everything was pretty good an on par with plenty of other similar chinese places in the area. While it is average, the location is key if you're in the area and looking for anything other than fast food.

Shrimp with snow peas, shrimp with garlic sauce, and some crab rangoons.

This restaurant has some of the best Chinese takeout because 1. the dishes are loaded with vegetables and 2. the shrimp used is so meaty and delicious (which is better quality than the average shrimp in any restaurant)! I've tried 3 different shrimp dishes that meet those points. The service is efficient for calling to place an order to pick up.

For a cheap, quick lunch over by Daniel island, you cannot beat Tokyo Express. I LOVE coming here. Sure, the inside is a little shabby and there is limited seating. They also have a GIANT menu with no descriptions. But, they make up for it with cheap, quick lunches and white sauce by the squeeze bottle ( a nice touch, not having to pay for extras...) While I don't love the shrimp (Hello....we live in Charleston, I like fresh shrimp) I do enjoy the Hibachi Chicken with white rice. Their egg drop soup is a little lacking, but I promise you, you won't regret eating here. It is definitely a regular stop of ours when we are out and about on the weekends. They offer both Japanese and Chinese dishes, as well as a few American meals (chicken fingers come to mind). Yum!

Good good for the price! Food was ready within 10 minutes. General Tso's combo platter was on par with other Chinese places in the area.

The chicken hibachi is good for a quick, inexpensive lunch. Do NOT get the steak. It's terrible, mystery meat.

Old Li's is an outstanding authentic Asian restaurant. I loved it. No reservations required and plenty of tables. It's a very clean well ordered establishment. Also plenty of free parking right outside. The staff could not have been any better, prompt, attentive & very knowledgeable about the menu. The round table we sat had had a "lazy Susan" to facilitate the sharing of dishes. We ordered based on recommendations, personal taste & heat levels. The dishes were absolutely delicious. So good. I think the Peking Duck was the star of the show. If you are seeking Asian authenticity & phenomenal family service.. Old Li's in N. Charleston near Tanger outlet is your place to go. Of note the prices cannot be beat. A really nice change!!

Service was prompt and friendly. Ordered the stir fried beef and green pepper lunch, includes a soft drink. Food arrived quickly and had good flavor but lacking something to put it in the great cateogry. Love the boiled egg that was included. Overall a good visit, I'll return to check out something else on the menu.

The ambiance is very charming, making it a great spot for a casual yet elevated dinner. The Drink: We tried the traditional infused Baijiu for the first time. It's a concentrated liquor that packs a serious punch! It's served in a vessel smaller than a shot glass and meant to be sipped. One of the staff members shared the history and craft behind it, which made the experience feel like a genuine cultural exchange The Food: The Hot and Sour Mushrooms are the unsung heroes of the menu. They were earthy, tangy, and the perfect palate cleanser between bites of the fiery Cumin Lamb Noodles. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items!

It's not huge inside so if you're sold on dinner here, get a reservation! The staff is excellent about explaining the menu and identifying choices that can dial up or down the spice. We ordered a variety of plates including the marinated cucumbers, lamb dumplings, crispy potatoes, green beans, and Dan Dan noodles. Everything was absolutely fantastic, but the lamb dumplings and noodles knocked it out of the park. Everything but the green beans had some level of spice, but nothing intolerable. The food comes out family style and many of the plates are on the smaller side so it's made for sharing. You can't go wrong with anything here, just prepare to drink lots of water while enjoying the amazing food!!
