I was surprised by the quality of food of this restaurant. It's small and located at a shopping plaza. I was not expecting high quality of food. I was wrong. Their food are fresh. The freshness is important to me especially for fish and shrimp. You won't want your poke bowl or poke wrap, or sushi unfresh. The ramen are pretty standard, but I like their sushi best. Every different kind sushi has it's own special taste. Try that! The services are very friendly. You can feel the warm welcome. The time control for take out also good. I can expect the pick up on time and not wasting for waiting. I just hope the quantity can be a little be more so my family can enjoy their food more often. read more

We were so excited to learn that a ramen restaurant was opening so close to our house so we went to eat there right after it opened. Two of us ordered the Chicken Katsu Ramen and my husband ordered one with Beef which are typically the favorites. Our bill was nearly $45 with 3 sodas which we wouldn't have an issue with if we actually ate. I feel like I need to let folks know that the ramen here has a VERY fishy flavor. Between the three of us, all we ate were the two sides of Katsu. Someone who works there came to our table to ask if we were finished with our dishes then asked if something was wrong when they saw all three bowls of ramen practically untouched. We explained that none of us like fishy ramen. She was kind and apologetic and gave us advice on how to order next time, but there was no offer to re-make it for us or to credit our bill - we would have been happy with a partial credit since we ate the chicken. We spent $45 and left hungry then went to another restaurant to have lunch. I'm actually more unhappy that they didn't fix the situation immediately as we were sitting there because they very easily could have and most certainly should have. My son loves ramen and really wanted to try this new restaurant out. It is a counter order type restaurant. Pricing is pretty good and the bowls are substantial. I had the Tokyo ramen and my son had the chicken Katsu ramen. The broth was flavorful and and lots of noodles included. The Tokyo bowl is their most popular. I would have liked a more leaner cut of meat in my bowl as some of the pieces were a bit fatty. The chicken katsu was very good (comes on the side so it doesn't get soggy in the bowl). I'm not a fan of the sauce on the side but that may just be a personal preference. Overall, very nice to have a different option available in the fruit cove area that in the past has not had very diverse dining options. read more

I kept putting it off thinking they only served ramen and sushi (I'm not into either) We tried the hibachi steak with lo Mein noodles and we were so suprised how good it was. My wife and I were excited when we first learned that there was going to be a ramen place opening in the plaza. Now we are just very disappointed that Tokyo Ramen and Burrito is a poor representation of Japanese and Asian food. We moved from Los Angeles to Jacksonville about 3 years ago and understand that Asian food in Jacksonville is not spectacular, but this restaurant lowers the bar. Their food is also way too expensive for the portion and quality. We spent $43.00 for two people. We did not even order drinks. Soda fountain was not working so, no water. Ramen came in a proper bowl. Other items were served in paper baskets. Customer Service (3 stars):The counter person was friendly. They deliver the food but there is no table service. Tako Yaki (1 star): I'm pretty certain that the Tako Yaki that they serve is pre-packaged frozen Tako Yaki. They don't even attempt to make it look like how it is pictured on the menu. It seems like they went to the local Asian market's frozen market and threw it in the microwave. Tokyo Pork Bun (just offensive): This is the restaurants interpretation of Chinese Gao Bao. I didn't know there was a way to mess up a Gao Bao, but they did. Typically there is a large piece of pork belly in a sizable bun, but they replaced it with a very thin slice of cold pork in a small bun. They did drenched it in sauce to fill the space. They are tiny and cost $6.99. Tokyo Burrito (2 Star): Tasted okay, but for the quality and size, it should not have been more than $7.00. Think 1/3 of a chipotle burrito. It is smaller than competitors' sushi burritos. They will need to double the size and put more premium sashimi to make it worth the $11.99 that they charge. Tokyo Ramen (3 Star): Decent ramen for Jacksonville, as good as it get in northern Florida. I wouldn't compare it to real Japanese ramen. Message to the owner: I don't normally write poor reviews but I feel that this is not an acceptable representation of Asian food. I truly hope you take my feedback and improve. I love ramen places like this, so I dragged my family here to try it, and we've been back about three times. Best thing to order: My dad absolutely loves their seafood ramen, and ends up ordering it every time. I like the veggie ramen. They're very generous with the ramen toppings which aids the dining experience. Today I tried the sushi burrito, which was delicious but the only vegetarian option they had was tofu. I normally love tofu, and expected it to be cooked, but this was straight up raw tofu, just sliced and thrown in there. Please, not only put the tofu on your menu as a sushi burrito protein option (it isn't there, i had to ask for it), but also fry it in some soy sauce, or literally anything. Took a star off for the lack of effort on the tofu and the high-ish prices, but generally a wonderful place to eat. This spot is a pretty cute little Asian spot. They have sushi, poke bowls, and ramen. Me and my lady got an assortment of sushi and a bowl of shoyu ramen. The sushi was pretty good, but the ramen was god awful. I could not finish that ramen. The pork was like a bit of pork butt that they got from Bono's and the broth itself had a funky taste and it was so salty. I'd recommend this place for the other things, but never the ramen. I went here to get ramen but the soup base was tasteless and bland. The egg was over cooked and hard, not the traditional way of cooking. The soup's temperature was not right, only lukewarm. The soy sauce broth does not taste like soy sauce broth, instead it tastes like pork broth with some weird stuff mixed into it. Don't waste your money here! It wasn't even worth a cent! My family and a friend of ours went here after hearing wonderful reviews from around the community. We were looking forward to a great meal after reading the equally-great yelp reviews. Upon getting there, the place was completely empty. We ordered three ramen bowls and a sushi burrito, as well as some of the pork dumplings. The dumplings were the best part of the meal, and even those were sub-par and likely frozen before being tossed by the uninterested staff into a pan. The ramen broth tasted like dishwater, the noodles tasted like the same stuff that you get out of an instant ramen package. My father ended up getting very sick from the sushi burrito. None of us were able to finish our meals because they were so awful. To make a long story short, the food was gross, the price was unreasonable, and the staff was apathetic. I have eaten here several times and always liked it but was disappointed today. Always get Ramen but tried hibachi today. Came during the lunch time (around 1:30, lunch is 11-3pm) and ordered a combo of shrimp and filet mignon. Was charged for a dinner portion which is $7 more than lunch! I never asked for a dinner sized portion. Was also charged $1 extra for fried rice which was supposed to come with it. When I questioned the staff they said my bill was correct. My $12.25 lunch ended up being $20.25. I even tipped well on my higher than should be lunch. Not sure if honest mistake due to new staff or done on purpose. Staff needs more training. This is a local joint and it was pretty good! You order at the counter and 5-10 minutes later, they bring you your order. The food is pretty authentic and the drinks were great! We had yuzu soda and plum soda which were so different. I also had the vegetarian ramen and split a sushi burrito for appetizer. I'm going to have to try this place again for another chance to improve my star-rating, because, while I enjoy ramen, today's dish didn't "wow" me. I'm not big on pork (unless it's Italian deli meats or thick-cut bacon--but that's beside the point!), so that limited my choices tremendously. Seems as though all the interesting ramens were pork-based broths or had pork as a main feature. A very helpful and friendly gal behind the counter had to help me find something from a very limited "non-pork" section, and it was really a matter of customizing the broth. At her suggestion, I ordered the Chicken Katsu Ramen with the vegetarian broth. The broth was very bland, and needed the help of some of the chili sauce at the table and a dash of soy sauce to give it a little boost of flavor. Noodles were cooked just fine, and the katsu chicken that came on the side was nice and crispy on the outside. The crunch did provide a nice contrast to the soft noodles. Would I come back again? Probably. But it wouldn't be a go-to place for ramen until I can find something a little more exciting. Perhaps cooler weather will improve my appreciation for the vegetarian broth. Places like this need to thrive to give this little corner of northwest St. Johns county a reputation for something other than kids sports and pizza. Tokyo Ramen was an interesting and enjoyable compilation of beef, pork, shrimp and ramen noodles in a delicious creamy broth pulling flavor notes from all kinds of Asian mix ins. We'll be back to try poke bowls and sushi burritos. Fun, flavorful and interesting, this place needs to be on your list if your palate is open to Asian influences beyond sweet and sour chicken. Just a couple suggestions for the owners of this relatively new Fruit Cove lunch and dinner option: 1. Invest in real napkins. The little things matter and the napkins are too little (and too thin). 2. Tell your help to help. Dishes were piled in the back. Trash was overflowing. The drink/tiny-napkin station was a mess. Tables needed to be wiped and the floors swept. Your staff should have been attentive to these issues and not looking at cell phones at the counter. A cleaner restaurant, more attentive staff and attention to details will help you earn some five-star reviews. read more
