If Tokyo Harbor keeps up what I experienced a couple weeks ago when I visited, it's gonna get that fifth star eventually. FOOD We came for hibachi lunch, which was incredibly good for the price point. You get a lot of food AND a show on top of it! I opted for the scallops and my lovely mother the skirt steak. The scallops were done quite well, and the steak was cut into cubes before being served. Axel our hibachi chef gave us a great show involving blindfolds, knife juggling, and torch spinning. I'd have appreciated it if the rice got a little more flavoring and char, but there really was so much of it that I couldn't complain haha. Because my mom and I like to over-order, we also got the 2 roll lunch special and were particularly impressed with the rice-to-filling ratio of their rolls. Rather than other restaurants that skimp on the filling and load up on the rice, this place did the exact opposite! Spicy yellowtail and shrimp tempura were both jam-packed with filling and super delicious. SERVICE Many points to Ryan, our dapper and attentive waiter. AMBIANCE The interior was a little confusing. You can tell that a lot of work went into installing the various colored lights in the walls and under the counters, but there was a lot going on to the point it was almost distracting. But to be fair, when my mom and I went we were quite literally the only two people in the entire hibachi room, so with some more publicity this place could easily be the next Zenna, date night, hip party place. I'm giving it a 2 star because the service and staff was awesome. The food however, isn't good at all. They cut their salmon in all their rolls with the crispy bread. Spicy salmon roll (I did not order a crunchy) had it laced into the salmon. Just very disappointing. I wanted to try something new but stuck with the basic. It's a way to.take the fresh and flavor away from the salmon. Also allows them to add less of the fish you are hoping to get. All the power in the restaurant went out in the middle of the meal, and not once did the manager on duty come around and apologize to people. No one knew what was going on. This is located in an unassuming area off of 75 and 15th St. We went for dinner on a Saturday, and it was pretty empty except for the Hibachi area. The main dining area is one big open space. Between the three of us, we ordered Age Tofu, Avocado Salad, and Grilled Squid for appetizers. They tasted just ok and their portions were tiny... I would not get them again. For entrees, we got the Tuna and White Tuna Sashimi, Monster Roll, Rocky Roll, and Nabeyaki Udon. The sashimi was fresh and worth returning for, but the rolls tasted similar and were not memorable. The udon was served lukewarm and the ingredients did not resemble a typical nabeyaki udon. However, I might revisit for their Hibachi, as many Yelpers seem to like it. I also decided to share a combo with a friend this time as I wasn't feeling too good to eat a lot. We still ordered 14 out of 16-17. Plus appetizers/sushi & drinks. This wasn't my first time here, and I loved it was why I chose this place. For some reason this time the staff seemed too upset at the people that were splitting the food. Kilo was the cook for one of the grills, he provided amazing service, all the special things like catching broccoli, train, egg thing but the chef we got on the girls side did not do ANYTHING to entertain. Which we let go, but the food for people that ordered a whole entree was way lesser than normal, and lesser than the other side. The people sharing a plate got BARELY a few bites of food. which normally is so much that I bring left overs for next day and it's enough for 2. The cook seemed to have realized the quantities were very less compares to our husbands plates, and Upon asking the cooks manager refused to do anything about it. We let it go, but this was the worst birthday dinner experience. A lot of the guests that came would have become regular customers like us if their experience had been good like our past experiences. Only a couple of the people didn't order hibachi combos and wanted to share, they got upset over this small thing and made sure our experience was bad. I just wanted to put out there that this restaurant already lost & will be loosing a lot of potential customers over this. After two visits, I truly believe we have found our new hibachi home. The food is amazing. Finally a Hibachi house that knows how to season food. Come for the show, stay for the Flavors. Extra +, it is close to home, we spend half of what we would usually spend at Benihana, and the portion size is way better; no add on's or extras needed. I was happy to find a place that took reservations, but it almost seemed unnecessary once we got there because we were only one of a few hibachi tables being used. the flavors on the food was pretty good, however I expected more from the fried rice. It wasn't as flavorful as other hibachi restaurants. the sushi choices were plentiful, I enjoyed the role I got, Jimmy sexy roll. it feels like the restaurant could use some updating in regards to the decor. Walked into this place, excited from the pics, and immediately walked out. It's smokey (expected I guess, but also get better ventilation) and it smelled like egg. Not the good smell of eggs In the morning, if that's a thing, but like old poultry mix with wet cat smell.
