I think I found my new favorite sushi takeout spot! Every time I order here I always get the salmon sashimi bowl. I think they're the only one that serves it with the thickest slices ever and the pieces always melts in my mouth. This time I also ordered the red rose which is a no rice roll with tuna and salmon stuffed with jalapeño, crab and avocado. I'm telling you they don't skimp on their portions. The slices are thick and fresh, definitely worth it. They also pack their to-go orders so neatly and I never had an issue with their service. We typically get the grilled teriyaki salmon on a bed of delicious veggies, which comes with miso soup, salad, sticky rice, and two sides, For sides, I love the two piece shrimp tempura, and the four piece California roll. Excellent lunch for $16.95 and big enough for us to easily share! This hidden gem in a non-descript shopping center at Parker Road and Custer in Plano is delightful! This was our first time eating at sushi Sakana and we had some friends that have eaten their showtime before and they loved it so they wanted us to experience it as well and it was fantastic! I love the simple ambience within the room and it was just marvelous. The food was spectacular. We had a bento box. I had the salmon and the wife had teriyaki chicken and with everything else it turned out to be a wonderful time. The service was impeccable. They waited on us and brought us water every time we were low and we just had a great time with our friends and great time eating at sushi Sakana for the first time! They really go out of their way there to satisfy the customer with food preparation with service with the ambience. I just turned out to be a great time. Definitely we will be back as it was that good specially, the bento box we both love so let me encourage you. I have no reservation about going to sushi Sakana. It's right next to the Starbucks at Custer and Parker and it was just a wonderful time. Can't say enough about it. Fantastic spot for sushi in Plano with great service as well! They offer a wide variety of menu items ranging from sashimi to specialty rolls, and everything we had was delicious! For appetizers, we started with the seaweed salad and agedashi tofu. While the seaweed salad was tasty and refreshing, the agedashi tofu is probably the one item we had that I wouldn't rush to order again. It was good as just fried tofu with a dipping sauce / broth, but it lacked in toppings such as bonito flakes and scallions. Moving onto the sushi, we got the guns & roses roll, hand roll trio (spicy tuna / California / salmon & avocado), sushi combo with 8 pieces, and toro sashimi. All of this was phenomenal -- the fish tasted fresh across the board, the hand rolls were filled to the brim, and the specialty guns & roses roll was flavorful and balanced. If I had to pick, the star of the show for me would have to be the toro sashimi as it was so buttery and delicious. Otherwise, I was very impressed by how much I loved the guns & roses roll since the sauces worked well together and didn't overpower the fresh fish. To finish off our meal, they provided us with a complimentary dessert consisting of taiyaki ice cream with strawberry jam sandwiched in between! We started off with the crab rangoons which were crispy and packed with flavor. It was filled with crab, so much different than the usual cream cheese filling that most places have. The dipping sauce wasn't quite a sweet and sour, but more of a Thai chili sauce, which I loved. The spicy tuna roll had great flavorful and quite spicy. The James Bond roll was good and perfectly crisp. My absolute favorite was the green hulk roll. The sweet shrimp on top paired incredibly well with the spicy jalapeño inside.
