I love to sing in the shower (hey who doesn't??!!). I also love to sing in my car when I'm alone (especially if I'm sitting in traffic). I mean it's fun to sing along to your favorite songs.....just not in front of an audience, especially if you can't carry a tune. I confess.....I am one of those people. And so, it was with good intention, but with slight hesitation that I accepted an invitation to a karaoke party held in honor of a friend who is leaving to work and live in Japan. NOTE: 1) You are able to bring (like most places I would imagine) your own food, drinks, coolers. 2) Bring a jacket or sweater if you get cold easily, some of the girls felt chilly towards the end of the night. When we arrived we were shown a room which was a decent size, which most thought would accommodate our group of 15. However, the owners asked if we would like to move into the biggest room they offer since the group previously using it was leaving. Of course, this was a no-brainer kind of decision, especially since they informed us that there would be no extra charge for the bigger room. And let me tell you all, this room was HUGE! There were flat screen televisions on either side of the room, while there was more than enough tables and seats for everyone. SING: The song is selection is very, very extensive, and that's just for Japanese songs. Since our friend was moving to the Japan, a good portion of the night was devoted to Japanese songs, ranging from mellow to hard rock. As for the English songs, it was quite satisfactory as it seems they possessed a comprehensive song selection. It seemed every popular genre with old to new songs was present in their catalog. I'm proud to admit that after a little vocal and liquid encouragement, I sang a few alternative songs that night. PRICE: I wasn't privy to the total bill that night, but the host asked for just $15 from each person. Since I have very little singing ability, I haven't gone to karaoke in many years, but I thought $15 wasn't bad for 4 hours considering we were a large group. PARKING: Very limited. There's a small lot available or street parking. Bottom Line: Great selection of songs. Good times! read more

What a nice place. It's not fancy nice but great for partying. We had room #6 which could hold about 20-30 people. Nicely air conditioned and clean. The carpet is a little old but not too bad. It's BYOB and BYOF here which is great. We brought our own coolers with alcohol and outside food. The owner at the front is really pleasant to deal with. They have some refreshments like soda and juice at the front to purchase if in case you forget your drink. But they DO NOT serve alcohol. Only con I can come up with is parking. Parking is tight and very limited. We ended up parking out on the street. No Valet service either. I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place in town for some drinking, singing and dancing...well just don't dance on the tables lol!!! read more

Recent renovations have made the rooms feel less tired but it's still has its homey feel. The people at the front are always so nice (even though I'm haole - which has condemned me at other karaoke places)! I used to come here a lot as a UHM student, and I came here again recently for a work party. I had forgotten how affordable this karaoke joint was until my group of about 20 and I split the bill and it came out to $20 per person for 4.5 hours. Great! What I hadn't forgotten though, was how inconvenient parking in their stalls are; with little stalls for the amount of foot traffic that they have and how difficult it is to maneuver in it, I didn't take my chances and parked in the neighborhood across the street. Rooms are spacious here. In whichever room you reserve, mics and instruments (tambourines, shakers) are abundant. Song selection is easy, with offerings in Japanese and English. Toma is BYOB and you'll need to bring in food from the outside too. But they do provide ice! It's always bound to be a party here! read more

I set up a gathering at Toma's based on the recommendation of a co-worker. The plan was for a Friday night, so I called a week ahead to ensure my party of potentially twenty people was accommodated. Making the reservation was easy and I was given a quote of how much the room would cost per person. We were given a very spacious room that looked like it could fit at least thirty people comfortably. Maybe it's because I wasn't the first person who arrived among the group, but I was not given a tutorial of how to use the karaoke machines. Either way, I figured it out. Unfortunately, the song selection is lacking. There are a bunch of old hits that could not be found. On the other hand, the sound system is pretty good. As mentioned in other reviews, it's BYOB and BYOF. A sizable garbage bin is provided and not just one of those puny ones found in most karaoke rooms. In the end there were only fifteen of us total. I wasn't sure how much the grand total would be, so when I brought it up to the counter to pay, I was given the exact amount. It turns out I was twenty dollars short. When I tried to leave to get the remaining balance, the owner told me the amount I gave was fine and thanked me. That was very nice of her. Parking is not that big of an issue. Apparently you can park in the HOCU lot after hours. The lot is located on the left before turning into Toma's lot. A bunch of others who were going into the bar next door to Toma's were parking there as well. read more

We really enjoyed this place! The only down side is the parking so definitely arrive early. The couple were really nice & great to work with. They allowed us to go in our room early to set up. The gentlemen shows us how to use the equipment & download the app to look at the song choice. I thought it was actually more convenient to be able to make song choices right from my phone. It eliminated having to search through bulky binders. They also let us extend an hour without any problems. We were having too much fun! The room size was actually larger than we anticipated. It allowed everyone to spread out and be comfortable. The multiple screens made it easy for everyone to see the lyrics no matter where you sat in the room. The song selections are older but the oldies are always goodies. The bathrooms are very clean which is a huge plus for me! I think we will definitely be back! read more

It is located on Beretania next to Cafe Anasia, although there is very limited parking, it is a great little karaoke spot! The owners are incredibly sweet and always take great of us. You are welcome to bring your own FOOD AND ALCOHOL! They will even let you borrow a cooler and provide ice for free! The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable from the AC. Their song selection is great with a variety of old and new English and Japanese songs. There is something for everyone! My friend Toby practically lives at Toma's. It's next door to Anasia's and for years I thought that it was a drinky drinky bar. But surprise, surprise, it's a karaoke house where you too can subject your friends to bad singing and cheesy 80s music! Alright! Sounds like my kind of hang out! We went to Toma's on a Monday night for a friendly gathering of about 12 people and had an amazing time! We all potlucked, brought our own drinks and had a blast singing in a huge private room for 4 hours. We sang our brains out, danced, clapped and pretended we were J-Pop stars. I even brought pink sunglasses because that's how blinging my J-Pop personality (aka Mochiko) is! I think Toby is an undercover J-Pop star but just doesn't want anyone to know because he thinks it will change things. Don't worry Toby, we'll love you no matter how many non-english speaking women adore you! If you like to sing J-Pop, K-Pop or whatever kind of pop, Toma's has an enormous catalog of songs. The hit song of the night had to be when two of my friends did a duet to "Magic Stick." There is nothing better than hearing a Japanese girl gangster rap like Lil' Kim. read more

Toma is one of those places that you stand outside of and ask yourself "I'm not sure if I'm going to have fun here, its looks really ghetto from what I'm looking at in the parking lot, where did my friends drag me to now?!" Surprisingly it was an awesome time. The private rooms are really large, I'd say one of their rooms could easily and comfortably fit 15-20 people inside and the cool thing about this place is that it is BYOB and they provide you with large buckets of ice to keep your drinks cold. The parking situation sucks (very tiny lot-6 spots) however there is side street parking across the street. The karaoke selection is immense and they have a good selection of new hits and past oldies. I was also surprised to see that they have loads of songs in Japanese (an entire book). They are also really efficient at kicking you out promptly at closing time no matter what you try to do to keep it going like starting another song. They just shut everything off. I was pleasantly surprised by their song selection! They had a lot of oldies which my parents enjoyed but they also had some songs by EDM artists such as Avicii and Tiesto which were more up my alley, and everything in between. We paid $60/hour for a medium sized room (we had 5 people but the room could have sat maybe 10-12). The rooms are clean. Making a reservation over the phone was simple. It's BYOB and BYOF. The equipment is simple to use and the owner tells you how to use it before you start. Parking in the lot was easy but we went at 5pm and when we left at 8pm it was completely full with some people double parked. Overall, a little on the expensive side for room rental but it's not bad when you factor in that you could spend way more at other places on drinks and food. I recently visited another karaoke establishment for a friend's birthday and I think one round of drinks for 5 people came out to how much it cost to rent the room at Toma's for one hour. Rooms are clean, well lit, and the bathroom was well maintained ( though they could use another restroom) I was there with regulars but if I had to do the switching between English, Japanese, Korean songs I would have been lost (especially being intoxicated hahaha) When we did have a question though the proprietor was very attentive. This was my first time at Toma's. It's funny because my friend, Chris had found this place because I told her to check Yelp. Toma Enterprise is located on Beretania Street. They have a very SMALL lot. We were lucky enough to find a stall on a Saturday night. Yay! Once we walked in, the owners greeted us warmly and asked us if we were here for a party. I told her that we knew where we were going. Once in our room, it was big and clean. All the seating had a clear view of the TV. Seating was bench seats, like in restaurants. It was comfy. We had 2 large tables to put our food and drinks. (It's BYOB & food.) It was cool in the room, but once you get singing & dancing, the temperature is just fine. We figured out how to put in our songs, easy. We had some problems with the microphones, but that was fixed by the nice woman behind the counter. There were 4 large song books - 2 were listed by song title, the other 2 by artist. And boy, was there a list! We stayed mostly within the 80's, 90's, and 2000's. I think I may have been disappointed that there was no music from Hamilton, but that's just me. The evening was fantastic because the place was fantastic. The room was clean, bathroom clean. There was always someone to help if we needed. Did I mention they also have a little fridge full of soda & canned drinks? Awesome! I can't speak to the pricing because my friend refused to let me pitch in, but she did say it was very affordable. If your looking to sing some J-Pop, then your at the right place! Toma's is the best place to sing the latest J-Pop songs. Before, Waikiki had 1 place with J-Pop Karaoke but the system was old and the rooms were really dirty. But this place is the best for parties and also just to have fun with your friends! Locally owned but with the state of the art JoySound system from Japan! We visited during COVID-19 and the health and safety procedures at Toma's has been well cleaned and following CDC guidelines. Temperatures are checked, along with some information needed. The microphones has been cleaned every use with customers. Keep in mind, this place is BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze). They sell soft drinks like Hawaiian Sun and Aloha Maid kind drinks for the kids. Employees here are very friendly and nice. All in all this place is a go-to for Japanese Karaoke! Parking is very limited but also has a lot of street parking. For any events and parties, I recommend carpooling so other people can park here as well! read more

This is hands down, no questions asked, the best of the best place to sing karaoke - if you sing Japanese songs. They have a good English and Korean selection too, but their Japanese selection is top of the line. The songs are so current, that they have song choices about a month after its released in Japan. Toma's is the king of Japanese karaoke, and many bars around the Island import their song selection from them. Its only private rooms and the prices are very reasonable, good parking (lots of street parking if their lot is full), plus its BYOB. Bring your own drinks, food and fun. Oh what fun it is to sing in English and Japanese! My only gripes about Toma's are the following: -Tiny parking lot (although I magically found parking last time I went there) -Having to switch the entire TV display to go between the "English" selection and the "Japanese" selection. You can stay in the Japanese side and there are some English songs there... but not everything. It would be easier if everything was all together. Most of the Disney songs are on the Japanese side, so if you're like me and my friends, and you want to bust out the 90s Disney jams, you will need to switch over. Aside from that, BYOB and BYOF. The rooms are actually not bad. The owners like to keep them clean. Our group of 10 fit very comfortably in the room, and the table was huge for all of our chips, pizzas, and drinks. We had some issues with the song remotes, but I think that's just standard. Plus I was sitting in the back of the room. All together, a few hours of fun for $15/person. I love Toma's for so many reasons... + There's a perfect sized room for any party! I've been here with 4 people and I've been here with 50 people. (The large rooms come with stand-up mics. I know that's minor, but I feel WAY cooler singing into a mic on a stand.) + The couple that runs Toma's is amazing. They're so generous and have just about everything you need. Need ice? Nuff said. + I have no idea how they charge for their services...but I think it's reasonable. + They have a great selection of songs!
