This place was pretty good! When we came in, it was just about dinner time. It wasn't very packed and we got seated right away. Unfortunately, there was an overwhelming stench of poo poo cachoo when we entered the lobby prior to getting seated. I don't know if it was the cleaning agents that were used but the stench was so gross and unpleasant, I'm surprised my hubs and I were agreeable to stay. Anyways, I digress. When we were seated, the smell dissipated, thankfully. We had a lovely waiter named Lauren. She took our order and my hubs ordered the chicken ramen and I ordered the ying yang bowl. I made mine a combo because it came with a Thai iced tea and pork bao bun. We also ordered the yakitori platter to share and my hubs ordered a strawberry banana smoothie. We didn't wait too long to receive the yakitori platter which was decent but the meat was lukewarm. It consisted of chicken thigh, beef skirt, pork belly, scallops and zucchini that were on skewers. The fact that they were lukewarm didn't work in their favor. The skewers were small and didn't really hold the weight of a heavy $16 process. I then received my thai iced tea which tasted fine and my hubs enjoyed his strawberry smoothie reporting that it was creamy and flavorful. The pork bao was small but pretty good. The pork was tender and flavorful but the bao bun was too thick. It was like the bao bun thickness to the pork ratio didn't match. Still tasty nonetheless. When we got our soups, they were absolutely delicious. My hubs enjoyed his chicken ramen and he ordered extra noodles which help to enhance the dish alongside the use of the chili paste and shichimi togarashi condiment. My hubs reports that the soup including the bits of chicken at first was bland but was enhanced massively when he seasoned with the shichimi togarashi seasoning. Like him, I agreed as well. My ying yang soup was also bland in the beginning but once I added my bowl of extra noodles, some chili paste, some cayenne pepper and the shichimi togarashi condiment....things started to look up. It was creamy, spicy and oh so delicious. Lastly, to end the night, we got the Japanese cherry blossom jelly and the matcha tiramisu. Both were delicious and light. The Cherry blossom was so yummy, it reminded me of lychee. Just light and very flavorful. Absolutely, visually stunning as welll....i believe the youngins would call it a "clean girl aesthetic". The Japanese matcha tiramisu was delectable. Creamy, spongy and topped with a wonderful matcha powder that isn't overwhelming. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner date here. The food was good, price is a little steep for what you get and the decor is cute, big and open....with the exception of the smell of a really fat dinosaur who had an accident in the lobby. Thankfully, when we were heading through the lobby to leave, the stench of the dinosaur dookie was almost completely gone. They would stand at the head of the table and ask who had which Ramen, and then we were expected to pass it down the length of three tables, and through 14 people, and hope to not spill the dish. It would've been easier for the waiter to move to the opposite under the table and hand the dish directly to the customer. But instead, now you have 14 people touching your bowl of Ramen, which is nasty. And I get that we were a large group, but they could barely keep track of who ordered a Coke versus tea. They had to keep interrupting us to ask who had what. They couldn't remember anything. Did I ask for mild seasoning, and my friend next to me wanted hot. But I got hot, and she got mild. This is an adorable place with private area dining upstairs and down stairs . They have little private romantic type rooms with a curtain. The food and broth were very good. Mostly pork dishes. They have smoothed and lemonade . The servers were friendly nice and helpful. I needed a spoon and a fork but enjoy chop sticks if you can! The parking was very ample. Prices were okay . Kyuramen in Vernon Hills was such a good experience and definitely one I'd come back to. We started with the yakitori platter and everything was tender and full of flavor. The fried tofu had the perfect crisp on the outside and was so good dipped in the dry seasoning they have on the table. The zucchini was cooked just right too, still had a nice bite to it and didn't feel overdone at all. We also ordered the omurice with the egg on top and curry gravy and it was so savory and comforting. We added some chili oil which gave it a really nice kick. The portion was generous and honestly enough for two people to share. For ramen, we tried the one that's shoyu based but gives you both a creamy and light broth option, which was perfect because I can never decide. It gave the best of both worlds and the portion size was great for the price. We ended with the Japanese jelly dessert and it was light, delicate, and refreshing, which was the perfect way to finish the meal. The space itself is really aesthetic and cozy. The honeycomb walls and seating make it feel unique, and some of the booths feel semi private which I loved. Service was also on point. Overall everything tasted great, portions were solid, and the vibe made the experience even better. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. read more

A good option to Milwaukee Avenue's plethora of burger and beer offerings is this international chain offering ramen and boba. The space, once home to a deli with a drive-through, has been reimagined with the chain's signature honeycomb motif featuring booths for two against the north wall stacked in a honeycomb shape. The former waitstaff in me can't imagine going up and down those narrow stairs carrying bowls of hot ramen, but the staff were fast and skilled! My favorite feature is small but may be new to many folks - the call button at the table. When you need something, you don't have to crane your neck and awkwardly flag down your server. You just press the button. Now to the food. We shared the popcorn chicken, served with a mayo-based dip. We both ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen - mine "hot" and his "spicy". He had a coconut boba. The popcorn chicken came out hot but not the scalding fresh out of the fryer hot. It was crunchy but lacked the marinated flavor of karaage. It also was a small portion. The ramen was good. When I eat ramen I'm looking for a rich, almost creamy broth and al dente noodles. This bowl was good but the broth lacked depth and richness. The noodles were good - not overcooked and held up to the broth. It also was a smaller portion, but also the economy is tough for individual consumers. I can't imagine what food prices are going to restaurants and their margins. The husband said the boba was good, but again nothing outstanding. Stopped in at noon on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. By 12:45 the place was packed. The decor inside was nice as it had the feel of a modernized ramen shop. We were seated in one of the private booths which was nice. There is a call button when you are ready to order. Ordered the popcorn chicken and katsuobushi pork. The popcorn chicken was tender and juicy. It could have had a little more salt and pepper for my tastes but was good. The ramen here was great. It had a nice depth of flavor with a subtle heat at the end. The ramen noodles had the chew you crave and with the broth was a delicious bite. There were two decent sized pieces of braised pork belly which tasted great. Service here was quite good as the waitress asked if we wanted an extra bowl for the kids without us asking. First of all, very surprised with the interior design because there are these multi level honey comb seats- such a cute concept! The restaurant is vibrant, offers a variety of fun seating options including 4 top wooden tables, cozy booths on raised levels, family-style or small conference-style rectangular seating behind a semi-private curtain and counter seating! This is a newish, fun, stylish, and delicious place! Our party of 3 came in on a Saturday to give them a try for lunch. It was nice that atypically there was no crowd on this coldish day and the hostess sat us in one of their cozy semi-private and curtained booths. It was a comfortable and peaceful setting to enjoy their food and service. If you wanted to be out in the open dining room by the ramen bar or what not, that was an option as well, as there were plenty of open tables. Anyway, I and my sister each ordered their ramen combo A for $23.99 which was a good deal given that the individual Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen bowl with white garlic went for $16.99. For $7 more, the combo included a delicious pork bao bun as well as a delicious matcha pudding with red bean dessert. Wife ordered their classic omurice combo for $20.99 and which also included a matcha pudding. We didn't have any smoothie or milk tea drinks, but the Tbaar side of the business has these offerings. Though not shown on their menu, they will provide complimentary hot black tea upon request. We all enjoyed every course of our combos as well as their inviting setting. The wife's omurice dish was deceptively filling and she ended up with some carryout. The fun and cozy semi-private booth helped boost my otherwise 4 star rating, mainly as it's a bit pricey for ramen, to a 5 star experience. ps and Pro-tip: Don't be surprised if your GPS sends you on a short detour around their location. This was a nice new find for me. I had known of Kyuramen's opening in the Vernon Hills area and was curious to check out this outpost of their chain. Upon arrival we were greeted and guided to the the dining area. There one of the staff members seated us. I immediately liked their decor, ambiance, and general aesthetics of the dining room. The room was well-lit and the seating was cozy. Their menu had a good variety of options to choose from. I was here for their ramen and that's what I ordered. I got their ramen #6, spicy. My family ordered two of their Honeycomb Platters from the appetizers menu. We also got a TBaar Taro milk tea and a Peach Green Tea as well. The food arrived shortly. It all looked delicious and good. The ramen I had was Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. It had Chashu Pork, Bamboo Shoot, Corn, Wakame, Scallion, Nori, and Half Marinated Egg. It was flavorful, tasty, and comforting. The noodles were firm and the whole dish had a nice kick to it. On the table, there were some (powdered) condiments to add to your dish to enhance their flavor. The Honeycomb Platter had popcorn chicken, fried octopus (ball shaped fritter), shrimp tempura, seasoned edmame, and couple of other items. We all enjoyed our meals. My only issue was the portion size of my Ramen bowl. It was relatively less compared to other Ramen restaurants in the area as well as Mitsuwa and other popular NW Suburban joints and especially for the price they charge. Kyuramen x TBaar has been on my to-try list for a while, and I was so happy to finally visit with my husband and daughter.  I called and confirmed that they did not take reservations except for tables of 6 or more.  So, we went around 6:00 pm on a Wednesday hoping for a shorter wait.  We were right, on this cold evening, there was no wait; they even let us decide where to sit.  There was availability for every type of seating -- their famous honeycomb booths, private booths with curtains, and the ramen bar. We picked a regular table in the empty main dining area, which made it easy for me to take photos of the other seating areas. The place was very clean and chic.  It was a nice blend of classical Japan and modern décor.  There were nice photo ops everywhere.  I remember it started to snow while we were eating, I looked at the falling snow through the distant front window, it just looked so romantic and poetic, so Japanese, so enjoyable! Our server, Bridgit, was sweet, friendly, attentive, and professional.  There were a couple of special drinks on the menu that I wanted to try, but I wanted something warm for such a cold evening.  Bridgit advised that the whole drink menu only consisted of cold drinks.  She offered us the only hot drink that they had, that's complimentary barley black tea.  We actually liked the flavor of it, which paired well with ramen and other hot food. Since Daughter wanted a Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen, I shared a combo B meal with her.  It was a meal for two: Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and Sapporo Miso Ramen with a generous side of Popcorn Chicken. It also included Matcha Pudding with Red Bean and Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly for desserts that all 3 of us tried.  Since they could make any spicy ramen non-spicy, I picked mild for my Sapporo ramen too.  It's funny that non-spicy Sapporo Miso Ramen has the exact broth and ingredients as Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen, which is served with Chashu Pork, Half Marinated Egg, Corn, Bamboo Shoots, Wakame, Scallion, and Nori in Pork Broth.  it's a big bowl for me, but it's so good that I kept eating until I finished it! My husband ordered the Yin-yang Bowl which included Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and Sapporo Miso Ramen, served with Braised Pork, Chashu Pork, Shrimp Tempura, Half Marinated Egg, Bamboo Shoots, Corn, Zucchini, and Scallions.  We also ordered an order of Takoyaki Octopus Balls, which were cooked to perfection with the right texture, a lightly crispy skin, and fresh pieces of octopus inside - one of the best Takoyaki that I have ever tried. We all liked our ramen and food.  Everything was hot and very flavorful.  I also enjoyed the Matcha Pudding with Red Bean served with cream, that had just the right sweetness to wrap up the tasty meal. All in all, we were very happy with our dinner experience at Kyuramen.  We will definitely return to try more items on their menu.  When the weather warms up, I look forward to trying some of their cold drinks too. read more

Fun and trendy restaurant, great staff, flavors need more punch. Last meal in Illinois this time around. Was blisteringly cold, do we opted for a little comfort food and went for ramen. This place was rated well, so we made the trek. It's an unassuming building with a weird parking lot. GPS will get you here correct but it doesn't look like the right path. Interior has a tea and quick bite kiosk in front. Then the dine in is to the right side. Lots of servers on shift, so got seated immediately. We sat in the combs, which was a neat concept. There was call buttons on the inside. If you wanted the server to come over, you just pressed the button and one would show up quickly after. Menu is loud and has lots of pictures. On the back I saw omurice, and I really wanted to see if they could make it right. Do I got that for my entree, while the missus got the yin yang bowl. We also got some skewers to try. The skewers were done well. All meats were tender and had a good amount of sauce. I like the salty and rich pork belly, and she liked the tender beef. When it came to showtime, they brought out her ramen and my omurice. The cook was perfect, and Demi glacé was a little thick but the right color, it looked the part. The taste, well it's not bad but it's a bit bland. I expected the Demi glacé to give the dish all the seasoning it needed. But it didn't really have any beef nor umami. It was more like a beef gravy with no salt. Not bad, just lacking seasoning. The same sentiment was with the rice. Feels like they fried up fresh rice, was mushy and also lacking seasoning. The egg was perfect, done well and creamy. But it was the only aspect that was done perfect, and the rest was a bit lacking. the tempura shrimp in the ramen picked up a lot of oil when fried, was really greasy. The miso ramen was lacking seasoning but had enough miso. And the egg and meat in the ramen were delicious. Egg was poached perfect, meat was tender and seasoned well. Noodles were fresh, and the spicy ramen was perfect as is. We ordered a pork bao and chili dumplings, the pork in the bao was great, the bao was too large for the pork slice and made it very bready as a bite. The chili dumplings were soggy for the filling, and were overpowered by the chili oil where they used copious amounts. We informed the server of the chili dumpling issue, and it was taken off immediately. Customer service was very good. Overall, I can see how this place can be good. They got the technique down and the long-prep foods all bring the flavor and the tenderness. Yes, there was faults. But the service and experience make it a better overall dining experience. If you want ramen, this place is a very good option for it. The omurice is great, but might want to do the curry option. It's good food when done right, and a pretty nice place to dine at. read more

What a fun place! I visited for the first time with a group of friends for a Galentine's Day lunch. As soon as I walked in, I was in love with the decor. From the traditional looking art to the unique honeycomb seats, it was like nothing I'd seen before. Most of the tables and booths seat 2-4 people, so my group was lead through a curtain into a private room. It was really nice. The service started off really well, with our server checking on us as we decided what we wanted and then taking our orders. Things got just a little off beat after that, with side dishes coming out after the entrees and then a long gap, which led to us asking for our desserts (which came with the combo meals). By then a new person was waiting on us and she didn't know what we had ordered. That was quickly figured out, but we ended up taking dessert to go because several of us had to get back to work. The food was good! I had Combo C, a chicken ramen bowl that came with 3 pieces of gyoza and a cherry flavored dessert. I enjoyed it and would order it again. A couple others in my party ordered Combo A, which came with steamed pork in a bao bun as the side. The buns were branded with the name of the restaurant on them which was a fun extra touch. It was on an expensive side for a lunch break during the work day, and I would have loved to have stayed longer to soak in the whole experience. We've heard incredible things about this restaurant and decided to try it. When we came in around 2pm it was still packed from lunch but it didn't take long for us to get served. They were out of a lot of the appetizers but we still got some of the popcorn chicken and the chili potstickers. The popcorn chicken was fine, but the potstickers packed a punch and were quite delicious. For our ramen we decided the ying and yang as my husband and I were wanting to try both and didn't want full portions. It ended up working out that they had that option. It was a pair of spicy snd mild to use. The spicy side packed a kick and the other side was perfect to mellow out the flavors. We also got the katsu omelet over rice and that was great with the gravy too. They sliced the egg in front of us but I was a bit bummed that they didn't use a garlic rice or anything special underneath, it also tasted like older rice. All in all we had a great experience. I've been to Kyuramen twice now, once back in August and once recently in November. In both cases, service was great. Staff is attentive, if not a bit disorganized, but everything I needed was taken care of at some point. The ramen is excellent with flavorful broth (I always pick the spicy option) and the classic wavy noodles. Char-siu was great and what you'd expect at most decent ramen places. The dessert and appetizer items were also fine - no complaints. The one thing that was disappointing though was the pork bao bun. It just felt really out of line with the rest of the food in how unflavorful and dry it was. I'm chalking it up as a one-off given how everything else was great, but is something I would not order again especially given the pricepoint. Given the other decent options (or lack thereof) for ramen in our area, Kyuramen is a welcome addition. read more

Came here on a random Sunday afternoon after traditional lunchtime and yet before traditional dinner time. Luckily, it wasn't packed or filled and so we were quickly seated. Please note to even get here you need to drive off of Milwaukee Avenue into a Tucktaway side road that looks like it's going to a business complex park and a new apartment rental building. But there is a little driveway that will take you to this building. There are also two entrances when you walk up to the building if you go right technically that goes to the restaurant if you go left, technically that goes to the Boba bar. They do give you menus once you are seated and we ordered quite a bit of things just to check it out as this was our first visit. We ordered the mango lemonade, the regular lemonade and the strawberry lemonade. All of them were super delicious and have real lemons inside of them beware though they do not take out the seeds of the lemon so you might actually swallow and or choke on one. Food comes out really quickly, which is quite impressive and it comes out very hot which tells me they really literally just made it. The tofu is definitely a more modern take on it but still very tasty. The popcorn chicken is good, but be clear it is not karaage chicken. The yakitori skewers are pretty straightforward and did not disappoint. We ordered the same Tokyo tonkatsu Ramen twice with white garlic and then got the same thing again, but with black garlic, which is a dollar more. Both were super tasty. The broth were amazing. The noodles were cooked too perfection. I have to say we were all super surprised that we were not disappointed in any way shape or form here. We are definitely coming back and we are definitely ordering different items and definitely getting drinks as well. This is not your average ramen spot, this is definitely a higher-end experience! The place itself is a bit tricky to reach from the road, GPS highly recommended. Once you get inside its a great space, very scenic and with the Japanese style those in the know might expect. They have personal rooms for large enough groups, ramen bar seating if you prefer the solo experience, and of course the Instagram worthy honeycomb booths. My condolences to the servers who have to climb these with plates all day... tip well people! The menu isn't very large, which is fine. When you do something well there's no need for excess. I got the miso ramen with level 2 heat, the pan fried gyoza, and an "amazing" lemonade. The lemonade was, in fact, amazing. Blended with cucumber and lychee, this was a surprising bonus to my meal. I'd definitely grab that again! The ramen was basically perfect. I cleaned my bowl, which is saying something because no matter how much I like ramen I can almost never finish the broth. My grandmother cleaned her bowl, albeit in a more dainty fashion. Gyoza were top notch, with the little fried "skirt" executed flawlessly. They came out last because it's done carefully to order, so don't think of this as an appetizer. Service was great. Small nitpicks. The bamboo could have been cut thinner, some bites of that were tough. I'm not a corn guy, but no substitutions. Our servers name was Zyanya. She was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! No matter what request I had she did it with a smile. I can't use a straw but wanted a smoothie, so I asked for a spoon. She said yes with a big smile and I felt weird for asking so I told her why (got my wisdom teeth removed a week ago) and she was so understanding! I ordered the #9 but I'm a picky eater so I removed everything but the Chicken, Egg, and Noodles. She was so kind and helpful that she let me know that if I ordered a different way, that I could save a few dollars, and you can bet those dollars went straight to her tip! Ordered the following: Chicken ramen (noodles, chicken, egg, corn and nori only) - child did not like it which was disappointing bc he eats everything. Not sure what was wrong with it. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try it because the entire thing was in the trash can :( Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyo - loved the garlic taste but wished they allowed me to sub pork (more expensive) with tofu or veggies (less expensive) but I would have to pay extra if I wanted tofu or veggies instead. I ended up throwing away the pork which seems like a waste of money. Boba bar was really cool. The lady working there was really nice. Very cute ramen spot with good food. This place was packed by 6:30pm, even on a weekday. I enjoyed my yin yang bowl which had the tonkatsu and spicy miso flavors. Kyuramen just opened in Vernon Hills and I have to say, I love the decor--especially the honeycomb seating area, it's such a fun touch! There are also a couple photo op places at the waiting area. The menu has tons of ramen choices to pick from, which is great if you like variety. Even vegetarian. We tried the brown sugar bubble milk tea and passionfruit tea. Both were tasty, but I'd definitely recommend adjusting the sweetness level--I asked for 50% sugar and it was still very sweet. For appetizers, the yakitori platter and takoyaki (octopus balls) were excellent. Both were flavorful, fresh, and definitely something I'd order again. I went with the Omurice combo with curry sauce and the Japanese cherry blossom jelly. The tonkatsu was well fried, though I felt it could use more seasoning. My main critique is the rice--they use Thai/Jasmine rice, which doesn't pair as well with Omurice. Japanese rice would've made a big difference in flavor and texture. On the ramen side, the Yingyang ramen and Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen were both outstanding! Rich broth, full of flavor, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. A plus: most ramen dishes can be made non-spicy, which is great for more sensitive palates. Service was wonderful--our waitress was so sweet and attentive. The restaurant wasn't busy at all during Wednesday lunch, which made for a really nice, relaxed dining experience. Overall, a solid new addition to the area. Super cute ramen and drink place. Our server told us it was only the second day of business. This has the honeycomb decor like other locations and it had secluded areas as well. We ordered some spicy chili dumplings and Combo B, which had popcorn chicken, two bowls of ramen, plus matcha pudding and cherry blossom jelly. This was a good intro to Kyuramen and food came out quickly and was hot and tasty. The pork belly from the ramen was very tender and the egg was perfectly jammy. I found the noodles to be a little more al dente than I like. Service lagged a little at this point as the restaurant became very crowded. I liked the matcha pudding and the cherry blossom jelly. They were not sweet but a refreshing end to the intense flavors. My passion fruit tea was delicious with lots of jelly and passion fruit at the bottom. This was a fun, busy experience. Opening week of the restaurant and I couldn't be more ecstatic. From initial impression, the other location tended to be more packed. When you first enter you are greeted by a boba/ tea bar. The brown sugar boba and grapefruit tea were top choices and hit the spot. If you are craving a drink you can grab one while waiting in line. Pork ramen - pork belly is tender, soup base was less spicy than expected. Tonkatsu omurice- Demi glaze sauce is on the sweeter side but still addicting. I went for the combination but the matcha pudding was a bit disappointing for me. To put it simply I would recommend trying this place for any occasion. Located near Hawthorne Mall in Vernon Hill, this is a ramen bar + bubble tea bar. The interior is traditional Japanese with a modern twist, very Instagrammer friendly. They have a limited menu with a few ramen options. You can also order yakitoro and japanese appetizers. We ordered their combo A which came with one bowl of tonkatsu shoyu ramen, a steamed pork bun and a matcha tea pudding. We liked the broth and the half egg but the noodles and pork were mediocre. The bun didn't come with much meat. The highlight was the match pudding. It had a strong matcha flavor and was slightly sweet with a nice touch of bitterness. Really liked the meal at Kyuramen. It was quite busy on a Saturday night between 5-7pm. The queue was deep but fortunately I think I snagged the last available table. Definitely not a place for large groups as most tables only seat 4 comfortably. We had 6 and we squeezed into one of the small private dining booths that gets covered with a curtain. The menu is very enticing, more than just ramen, but we came for the ramen. The oma rice intrigued me as I've seen it on TV before and decided to give it a try myself. My younger kids had an extra bowl of noodles which is really what they love about ramen anyway. Note that some of the ramen may be spicy even though it says it's mild - so if you have some sensitivities definitely bring it up. We discovered that for one of the bowls, and not sure if it was a mistake or something, but they were apologetic and made it right for us. You could always "spice" it up with togaradhi powder at table side. The oma rice was a good fried rice (think it had some pieces of cha-shu) with a soft scramble. The allure of it was really the knife cut to open the egg omelette so it droops onto the rice. But ..they didn't let me use the knife. Odd service rules...oh wells sad face. I decided to have it with a pork katsu as well, but didn't wow me much. I had it w/ the curry sauce since I love Japanese curry and it did not disappoint! I had a sip and fee slurps of the ramen. Broth was rich and complex. Toppings were sufficient and the noodles had good texture. While I thought the service was a bit odd that I wasn't allowed to use a knife. I'd definitely be excited to come back and try different parts of the menu. My oma rice also came with a dessert as well I chose cherry blossom gelatin which was like eating a lychee jelly. A good finish for a meal. Afterward I went to check out the Tbaar side of the restaurant. Mango smoothie and Taro. Good flavor, nice and thick. Ordering is all done by kiosk. Oh how happy I am to have a delicious ramen restaurant near my house! We ordered the pork belly bao buns, Japanese French fries and tonkatsu ramen bowls. The pork buns were my favorite part of the dinner - but that's not surprising because I am a sucker for a good bun. The ramen broth was so good, noodles were cooked to perfection and I love it when ramen places add a soft boiled egg to the bowl. We will definitely be regulars at this spot! read more

This spot is busy, but rightfully so. For anyone looking for a picture-worthy experience, that's just as delicious as it is delightful to look at, you've found your restaurant. Mix in plenty of parking, friendly and professional service, great food presentation, a full menu, and very reasonable prices -- and you it's pretty clear why this spot is so popular. The interior of this restaurant is definitely more themed and premium looking than most of the Asian restaurants in the area. This provides a nice atmosphere if you're looking to immerse yourself in a full Japanese experience rather than just eat delicious Japanese food. If you go outside of non-peak hours, there are plenty of different decorations throughout the restaurant that make for a nice social media post. The service is above average in this category, with plenty of staff checking up on our table and serving food fresh and hot. They were also knowledgeable on the different menu options, providing good suggestions. The food here is definitely the star. Before talking about the flavor, the presentation is noticeably nicer, with branded bowls, plates, chopsticks, etc. used throughout the experience. This is one of the spots where the actual product presented to the customer does resemble the professionally prepared image on the menu. This alone makes this a great spot to bring friends or family, as you get an elevated dining experience for under $30 (which includes appetizer and dessert). A great value and a reliable and premium experience. Every dish I tried here was minimally good to excellent. The popcorn chicken was lightly crispy, with a good mix of salt and pepper and a good taste of basil. Probably the best version available in the immediate area. The lemonade has a strong taste of lemon and cucumber and is very refreshing without being overly sweet. Similarly, the thai ice tea was nicely creamy with light hints of star anise and cloves, also without being overly sweet. The omurice is good, with a satisfying creamy egg and your choice of demi-glace or curry sauces. I found the mix to be overall good, though the rice texture was maybe a bit firm for me, even with the sauces. The sauces themselves were bold but not too salty, and the curry fortunately wasn't too spicy. The fried tonkotsu wasn't bad -- but I think could've been a little more crisp on the batter and tender on the pork. When mixed into the omurice, some of the slight misses on texture aren't as noticeable. The matcha pudding with red pudding was quite refreshing, with the fresh milk nicely matching with the matcha that wasn't too bitter and red bean that wasn't overly sweet. The Japanese cherry blossom jelly had a nice semi-firm texture to it and a clear flowery flavor and texture. I enjoyed the addition of the white pearl which felt like a firmer popping boba. The ramen unsurprisingly is amazing here. I was quite happy with how distinctly different the flavor of each broth was, and how strong the flavor was as well -- the result of spending 18 hours preparing it. The tokyo tonkotsu shoyu has a nice tender chashu pork and is served with a half marinated egg that's cooked to just the right amount. The corn, bamboo shoots, and scallion added some nice veggies to the dish, while the wakame and nori did add a good level of umami to a pork broth that was flavorful but still a restrained boldness that provided a nice clean flavor. The noodles have a great texture as well and match very well in the bowl. The katsuobushi pork ramen was the favorite of the ones I tried. The pork belly is beyond melt-in-your mouth in dish and braised to be very flavorful. The smoked skipjack tuna used in dish gave the broth a very flavorful distinct smoky flavor which gives it an incredible amount of umami. I tried this as a non-spicy preparation by not having shichimi in the bowl, but it was still very flavorful. The sapporo miso ramen was similar to the tokyo tonkotsu ramen with nice mix of vegetables and tender chashu. The miso in this both wasn't too salty, and had a good earthy savoriness where the fermented beans felt a bit muted. The combination was just right to create a delicious broth that is bold, but just muted enjoy to allow the other flavors of the bowl to shine as well. Overall, great spot for a delicious meal. The decor and presentation are just as much of the experience as the well prepared food. Just be aware that the wait can be lengthy if you're going during peak times. read more

Decided to give this a new ramen place a try. With Fancy, Instagramable honey comb interiors definitely calls for eat out instead of takeout . They were quick to seat us during on a weekday. We started off with a couple appetizers that included the spicy chilli smashed cucumber (spicy), yakitori platter, fried Gyoza all of them where excellent in flavor and so fresh. I bought #17 chicken ramen and my wife asked for a veggie ramen, Each ramen's broth base was exceptional in flavor and quality. The service was great and prompted.
