The pizzas look to be baked in the stone oven, so that was pretty cool to observe from the kitchen at a distance. The soup arrived next and then the pasta. The pizza was nice. The dough held the toppings sturdy, so the toppings didn't fall off. The cheese, that was a really stringy cheese. On every slice, the piece didn't want to let go from the whole because the cheese string connected them. It was as long as a noodle. We chose the vegetable pizza, so it was light and the salt content tasted balanced. The pasta was our favorite. There was a nice toasty flavor that hit us on the first bite. Very addicting flavor, that we wanted more of. The penne pasta was cooked just right, the al dente style, which we prefer to have in pasta texture. Please spend your money somewhere else--especially if you're a person of color. The day we went to Tomatina, I was dressed in traditional South Asian clothes. My kid and I walked in -- and we weren't offered any water. The elderly man pointed to one chair and said rudely, "You can sit there." I told him there were 9 in our party, and he refused to give us a table until my friends arrived. Saying, "I don't want to give you a table. What if your friends don't show up?" Bear in mind, half the restaurant was empty. He asked me three times if my friends were coming -- within 5 minutes. When they showed up, my friend asked if we could sit outside, and he lied and said tables weren't available. Terrible customer service. Avoid this place. read more

We seated ourselves outside and a server came by to help us after a bit. After that, we were attended to regularly. The atmosphere is a bit rustic in a suburban way. They also have QR code menus and you can pay on your phone if you prefer. We ordered two pizzas and a limoncello spritz. I was surprised by how bitter the limoncello was - it's usually a very sweet drink. The cocktail was still drinkable though. The pizzas tasted nice but I thought the dough was a bit undercooked. My pizza had a LOT of basil on it. It's a nice spot to visit if you're craving pizza or pasta. I'd like to go back and try the pasta dishes next time. read more

I usually don't even stop to eat in WC. Parking is always atrocious and I go to T Co and leave. Lol But the days adventures brought me to this location. A friend that was with me said they had a great meal here. So we tried it out. I chose the "create your own calzone." Simple, pepperoni, mushrooms and spinach. Sauce had great season and ending flavor. Tho the dough was a little flat, overall it was good and complimented the calzone filling. I got the salad as a side. This was pretty much dressing and lettuce. It lacked any kind of pizazz. I think I would of rather had more toppings. My friend had the Italian sandwich. She liked all the things about it. The combination of prosciutto, salami, fontina all complimented each other. I was slightly jealous of her side salad. This was a mix of mixed greens, gorgonzola, pickled red onions, candied walnuts, dried cranberries and honey mustard vinaigrette. Definitely would of preferred to have this. I know better now for the next adventure here. Ended the meal with yummy coffee. I mean when is coffee really bad? Overall we did have a great meal. The service I must add was impeccable. This review is for a DoorDash order. In the past, we used to visit Tomatina often when the kids were little because it was near the old ballet school. I was looking on the menu for the pear marscapone cheese and honey appetizer, but it's not on the menu anymore. That was my absolute favorite because it was simply delicious. This time, I ordered something that I've never ordered before. It was the Prosciutto and Salami Stromboli. I like how it was filled with a lot of meat. There was so much meat in the Stromboli that I was able to eat half for dinner and the second half for breakfast! I also ordered a large minestrone soup that was delivered in 2 small soup containers. I liked how it was filled with vegetables that were stewed so softly that my 2 year old son took my soup away from me to finish it himself. read more

This place is the best! I had been to tomatina several years ago but had forgotten about it until we met Fred who was handing out free samples downtown. He was so nice, and gave us a coupon for free garlic bread! The pasta was so delicious that my Mom and I made plans to visit the following week. They had a special for $5 frozen cocktails so I enjoyed a peach bellini which was great. Fred was there and introduced us to the manager, who was great and made us feel taken care of. The garlic bread as fantastic. The lunch special is incredibly reasonably priced specially for how much food you get. I got rigatoni with tomato cream sauce and a cesar salad. All under $13! My husband and I have been coming here every year for 16+ years and sometimes in between with the kids. This was our first official date and we love the consistency. We always get the caprese piadine, my husband adds chicken and we sometimes get the garlic rolls or soup. Everything is always fresh and great leftover as we can usually only eat half! Pretty good Italian food in downtown Walnut Creek! I came here with a friend yesterday and had it at work from a rep. I had their insalata mixta yesterday and my friend the pizza Margherita. The salad is tasty and filling. It had just the right amount of blue cheese and I loved the vinaigrette. Besides the salad, I also had the salmon and pizza Margherita at work. Service was friendly. The hostess wiped down the tables, sat us, brought us utensils and water -- it appeared they were shortstaffed. It took over 10 minutes for our actual waiter to stop by, so we scanned the ReadyPay QR code and ordered off our phones. Seems like the QR code is specific to each outdoor table, so the staff knows where to bring the food. It was pretty convenient to order and customize our choices. - Salmon piadine without onions ($17.95) -- tasty, just as I remembered. - Chicken marsala ($23.75) - Meat lasagna ($19.95) -- tomato sauce was a little sour, but the lasagna itself was good. Sausage is my favorite. The waiter came to check on us about 10 minutes after we placed our order online. Food came out 20 minutes after we ordered online. Other than the shortstaffed service, everything was fine. While ordering through the phone is convenient, you pretty much get ignored by the waitstaff. Flavorless food and terrible customer service at this place. Our waitress couldn't have been ruder. We didn't receive any refills, some of our drinks were missing, and meanwhile, the table next to us was given full attention and service. Maybe the waitress got upset that we complained about it being too hot. We came hoping to support a local business and try something new, but unfortunately, we won't be returning. Although most of the ordering was online through a QR code, our server still came by multiple times to make sure we knew how to place our order, fill up our waters, check on our food etc. We ordered the meatball appetizers, pasta trio, and lasagna (Side note: they also had a really good deal of a meal for 2 for $38 that came with salad, an entree, and dessert). Like another review stated, Olive Garden would've been better We didn't complain or swap our orders because technically there was nothing wrong with the food, it was just not good. Lesson learned, listen to bad reviews about food. Baked bolognese- this came out incredibly watery, soupy instead of saucy. The pasta is over cooked, and has no flavor at all. I've never disliked a pasta from a restaurant until now. Pasta trio- mediocre, the pesto was the best out of the three but would not recommend still. The chicken Alfredo tasted like microwaved chicken too. Tomatina has always been one of my favorite Italian spots in Walnut Creek, and for good reason! Everything is made in-house, and the staff, from managers to servers, are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Recently, I discovered they have an amazing Happy Hour from 3pm-7pm, Monday through Friday. Even better, they've just launched some delicious seasonal specials, which include new desserts and dishes on their regular menu. I visited with my girlfriend to check it all out, and it was an absolute delight--seriously, 100/10! Ryan was our server, and he was both attentive and cheerful, while Ashley, the manager on duty, was equally fantastic. We decided to try the new Detroit-style pizza, which has Parmesan baked into the crispy edges (so good!). We also ordered the new Lemon Chicken with pasta, which was bursting with flavor. For dessert, we couldn't resist their Dessert Trio, featuring tiramisu, Lemon Ricotta Cake, and Spumoni Gelato--an incredible way to end the meal. They've also added some new cocktails and mocktails to their menu. My personal favorite was the Empress Passion, which was light, refreshing, and is now my go-to drink! Disappointing is the only way I can describe todays experience. They really try and get you to order via QR code they is at each table. It would be great if the website was working, but it wasn't. So we sat waiting for a server to take our order. Once she did, we waited, and waited .....and waited for our drinks to come out. When the food came out it was nothing special that justifies the price. I got a small basic Cesar salad, that had a lot of yellow lettuce and the lettuce core in it. The Prosciutto pizza was meh. My wife and I were just there to have dinner. It took them a while to service us. We finally got our salad but we kept waiting for our main dish and it never came. We could see the cooks in the backside of the restaurant were just standing there. I think our waiter forgot to tell them about our main dish. Well...it was Christmas Eve and we didn't have a reservation! The staff is so gracious and friendly, they cleaned a table and sat us immediately! We noticed the place filled up quickly and soon no tables remained. We also notice a waitstaff of 3 people. I've never seen people work so hard in my life! Providing drinks and food for everyone like bees in a hive! I was really impressed with these amazing people! We had drinks and drink refills and apps right away! They had two huge tables of ten people dining. They managed to keep everything flowing smoothly! We ate a couple of huge pizzas, wings, Parmesan bread and pasta. We went here several months ago. And every time I think about it I'm still disappointed. They only had QR codes as an option for a menu. You could order that way too. They looked understaffed. So we ordered online The thing I liked best was the garlic knots. The main downside was once the food was brought, they never came back. Not for refills, not to see if the food was ok not for nothing. We had to flag them down 2x times for things we needed. Which I *hate*. I worked in a restaurant for years. It is not a good thing. You see, I went into the Apple Store to have my phone repaired, and if you have ever been in the store, you know it could take from 30 minutes to our two hour two hours to get anything done. Well, it was about 5 p.m., and they repaired my phone, and I returned to my car; a Tesla is an important fact because to operate my car, I needed my phone, and I did not know that Apple wiped all the information off the phone and I had to restore everything. I get to my car. I could not open it, and since it was about 530, now closer to 6 o'clock, everything around me was closing down. I went into the Starbucks stack to use the phone, but of course, Starbucks didn't have a phone I could use. They were getting ready to close, and other stores were also closing. I went into this restaurant. Kayla must've seen the panic on my face, and the first thing she said was to calm down and that I could use their phone to call my wife so she could bring her phone and her key for the Tesla. Kayla was very accommodating to a total stranger. She had me sit in the restaurant because it was raining outside and the temperatures were dropping. She brought me a glass of water and asked if I needed anything else. She checked on me throughout my time waiting there. Kayla and her staff went out of their way to ensure the welfare of others--and it wasn't just me. I saw them engaged with families; older adults and one disabled couple were all treated with respect while I was waiting. I can only describe it as saying as a former member of the US Marine Corps. They represented the actions of the values that make this country great. It was such a wonderful feeling to have. But we were literally the ONLY people in there, waited on our appetizers for about an hour and 30 minutes in we get SUPER doughy bread, like actually very undercooked and it was sitting out so it was cold.
