I came into true food kitchen today and Gianna was my server and she was great. The food was also amazing.

Came for Mother's Day and forgot to post the review. (Sorry Audrey!!) Food was great - the Mother's Day special sourdough bread was lovely, I would love the recipe for the honey spread - LOL. I will note, the first attempt at the bread was slightly undercooked, but Audrey, our SUPER BUBLY AND DELIGHTFUL server was super helpful in getting us another one that was cooked properly. The mushroom/spinach pizza... the absolute star of the show. I've made it at home several times since because I loved it so much. True Food Kitchen is a great place to go when eating clean. It was one of the first places I went to after a 40 day water fast because I needed food that was cooked properly, without chemicals, and with real ingredients. Not only can you tell the food is fresh, but that the servers care about ensuring you get what you ordered. Love, love, love. We will be back! read more

It has been a long LONG time since I really enjoyed a meal here. In the past 2 yrs, my visits have been less and less, ea time getting worse. Came here back in June and it was definitely the B team working that night. My favorite edamame dumplings soggy. However, they fully redeemed themselves yesterday. I had low expectations. I wanted something healthy after eating so much junk on vacation. The menu was new. Seated outside in the shaded patio. Server was great. The Bright Eyes (beet, ginger, orange juice), sourdough Pizza Spinach Mushroom, and Corn soup caught my eyes. Food came out at a decent time. It was love at first bite. The crust was chewy like an Italian pizza crust. The ricotta almond cheese and taijin sprinkled onto with sautéed onions, mushrooms hit the spot. Corn soup was just delicious. Blended roasted corn flavor with its natural sweetness. The beet juice was so refreshing. I felt it gave me clear skin afterwards. Didn't feel bloated or overly stuffed afterwards too. I had absolutely NO complaints on a gorgeous pie skied day at the Creek. Whatever TFK did, keep it up! I'll be back more for sure! read more

The place is bright and very inviting. Plenty of space between tables and decor is very earthy chic. A long row of snake plants were used to divide the dining areas. I also like the open kitchen view. Staff is very friendly. The Jambalaya had just the right kick and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The hummus was a hefty serving and the pita crackers were crisp. Salad was great although probably needed a little more dressing. The crumble was pretty unique to me as the raspberry peach part was more like a puree rather than baked. The crumble and the ice cream definitely made it better. read more

I used to love coming here and I haven't been in a while. I was disappointed with my burger and fries. Fries were soggy and the burger was not great. I used to love everything that I tried here. The service was good yesterday as we had a large party but the food was subpar. The all American the patty was so small all I saw was lettuce even when I opened the burger it was so small. Ive been here a couple times for lunch, and love the interior and outdoor seating. Unfortunately our last visit was not our favorite. The waiter who helped us was not the friendliest, and would leave us alone for quite a while, making us unable to ask for things we wanted during our meal. We tried the sourdough pizza and unfortunately the dough was a bit raw in the middle. I got the avocado toast and their iced coffee drink. The coffee was delicious and the eggs were great. Unfortunately the avocado toast was a bit too spicy for me. I got the kale salad on the side, which is my absolute fav! Wide variaty of selections. Brunch menu only Sat and Sun till 3PM. Service is pretty quick and tables are ready. Had a scrambled egg, it really is a scrambled egg. The best is the mediterian salad. Cocktail selections are okay. It's a very family oriented vibe. read more

The place is modern and clean. The service is just ok. They did their job but never checked on us. The food is mid. The Korean noodle bowl was ok but no better than the Trader Joe's japchae. The salmon was actually decent but $12 for a small chunk of fish. The ancient grain bowl was tasteless and the first chicken was bone dry (even though it's drenched with a nasty mystery sauce). I sent the chicken back and they replaced it with a slightly more edible version. Overpriced and mediocre. read more

True Food Kitchen used to be a bastion for health-focused yet delicious food, but the quality of this chain restaurant has deteriorated. The eclectic menu features a variety of globally-inspired flavors, and we ordered from all over the map. To start, the Mediterranean Hummus was a chickpea purée topped with spicy herb sauce and red pepper pistachio spread, served with baked flatbread crackers. The lemony hummus didn't have much tahini and turned out rather grainy (not my favorite). A better appetizer was the Charred Cauliflower, florets coated in a spicy, creamy harissa tahini, along with dates, pistachios, and herbs. The Spicy Penang Curry was a tangy spiced shellfish curry broth served with regenerative black rice, sweet potato, bok choy, rainbow carrots, snap peas, and onions--decent though not particularly authentic. The Spinach and Wild Mushroom Pizza was roasted mushrooms, spinach, and cheese baked on a thin, crispy sourdough flatbread, topped with lemon almond ricotta, but the pizza was rather bland and flavorless. The True Crisp'd Tender Plate came with lightly breaded air-fried chicken tenders served with kale salad; and my favorite dish was the Seasonal Market Salad, made of mixed greens, roasted carrots, roasted cauliflower, pistachios, dates, and feta, dressed with a creamy tahini apple cider vinaigrette. We topped the refreshing salad off with a filet of arctic salmon, which was dry and overcooked. Overall, the food here was rather average and not worth going out of the way for--disappointing, as I was once quite impressed by the quality and flavors here. read more

I love this place! I originally discovered TFK during a visit to San Diego and after such a good experience, I was thrilled to learn there was one close to home. Because of plumbing/kitchen issues, I've had to order food a lot over the last few months and TFK has been one of my go tos. First of all, seed oil free is so hard to come by. Secondly, it's hard to find quality ingredients in tasty meals. I'm simple and generally order one of two things but I love them both: the jambalaya pasta (with spaghetti squash) and the chicken parm. I just learned that they're moving away from the carrot cake, and I won't lie that was one of my favorite desserts anywhere ever. Finding a very good carrot cake at a seed-oil free restaurant was like waking up in a dream. Lol. I'll miss it but am excited for whatever dessert they'll bring in next. I'm finally getting into a new place and I'll be much farther, so TFK will be less accessible to me. But anytime I'm in the area, I'll be visiting! I'd also like to note how wonderful the managers are, Krystal in particular. It's unexpected at larger restaurants to have a personal feel, but Krystal learned my name, remembered things I like, and showed pretty tremendous consideration and thoughtfulness. Most people don't expect that kind of service at large restaurants but it's pretty impressive when it happens. I appreciate any place that makes good food and also understands that industrial seed oils are incompatible with human health and leans in toward using fresh, healthy ingredients. read more

Loved the ancient grain salad bowl - vegetarian friendly and I added tofu for extra protein. The salad was super filling and nourishing. Loved the pesto sauce dressing that came with it. The restaurant has huge dining space, will try to eat there next time instead of takeout. read more

The food was amazing. Super fresh and delicious. Huge vegan choices. The service was great. Parking is a bit of a pain.

First of all, it's in downtown Walnut Creek, so you already know it's in a fun, lively area--right in the shopping district, which is always a plus. The space is great: huge indoor seating and a fairly large outdoor patio as well. We actually sat outside, and it seemed dog-friendly--we saw a few pups hanging out, which was cute. The food honestly surprised me (in a good way). The menu leans more health-conscious, but everything we tried was really good and didn't feel like "health food" at all. We ordered one of their sourdough flatbreads, which was hands-down my favorite--crispy, cheesy, and delicious. I'm a pizza-and-carbs person, so it totally hit. My husband ordered a pasta dish (I think it was jambalaya- or gumbo-inspired), which was also really good, but the flatbread stole the show for me. We also got fries (because always) and shared a fresh-squeezed juice, which was refreshing and well balanced. Service was top-notch, food came out quickly, and the overall vibe was immaculate. Everything just felt easy, relaxed, and enjoyable. Definitely a spot I'd come back to--especially to try more of their flatbreads. read more

Ordered the Bright Eye Refresher and really enjoyed it--very refreshing, light, and not overly sweet. A great, feel-good drink. We also tried two pizzas, which were okay overall. On the butternut squash pizza, the kale topping wasn't cooked well and was hard to chew, which made it difficult to eat. The glass noodles were tasty, but the portion felt quite small for the price. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday and appreciated that they kindly split the glass noodles into two bowls for us.Overall, a pleasant experience with room for improvement. read more

Very average tasting food. I got the teriyaki bowl with chicken after seeing that one had the most consistent positive reviews but I was disappointed. I ate here for the convenience but I wouldn't come here intentionally as it's not worth it. Service was good and the overall vibe of the restaurant is nice though. read more

It was my friends, and I was shocked to find out when I tried to order a Coke that they didn't have sodas and I asked why and the server said because we're a healthy place, and I turned my head to the left and I saw Tito's and makers mark alcohol at the bar with of course a bunch of other selections and I said so vodka is healthy, but Coke isn't so confusing to me and how would I even get a Tito Sprite? Well, the food was very mediocre and I'm mad. I let my friend decide I probably give one star but Danielle was so friendly and of course attractive and was shocking to find out. She was the one that was bullying. My daughter in middle school 15 years ago, but hey, they were kids, but my daughter was shocked to see her bully working here. We had lunch here in the middle of our shopping and found it to be pleasant. It was a spacious restaurant with great lighting, plants, and big tables. At times, it can get a bit too loud. We were quickly seated when we arrived. They did not have any activity/ coloring pages or crayons for the little ones to keep busy. Our friendly server efficiently brought us iced waters and took our orders after briefly looking at the menu. We ordered the tuna Poke bowl, the Chinese, chicken salad, and the air fried chicken strips. While I enjoyed the Poké bowl (with black regenerative rice), my companions were not impressed by the quality and taste of their orders. The salad was said to have lacked flavor and the chicken strips were not crispy and warm/cold. Unfortunately, I do not think I can convince them to return anytime soon. read more

Absolutely delicious! I had such a wonderful meal at True Food Kitchen. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and full of flavor. I ordered the Spaghetti Squash Casserole with Chicken, and it was incredible -- comforting yet light, perfectly seasoned, and packed with wholesome ingredients. For a starter, I tried the Chia Banana Foster Pudding, and wow -- it was the perfect beginning! Creamy, naturally sweet, and so satisfying without being heavy. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming, and the service was just as impressive. You can really tell they care about quality and mindful eating here. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

The location is super convenient right in the middle of everything and the vibe inside is fresh, open, and modern. I ordered the grass-fed burger and the mushroom pizza, and both hit the spot. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and felt like a healthier take without sacrificing taste. The mushroom pizza was earthy, cheesy, and had a great crust perfect for sharing. Definitely a solid spot if you're looking for something that tastes good and feels good. Service was good as well. I'll be back to try more of the menu! read more

The day before Christmas Eve we were finishing up our Christmas shopping in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. We existed Nordstroms to the parking lot to find a massive traffic jam backing up all four levels. The exists were completely stopped and people were getting out of their stopped cars so instead of getting into the mess I decided to get lunch at True Food Kitchen. They have enclosed part of their patio. We got some lattes, the japchae Korean glass noodles and a burger. The burger was ok, the japchae was good but small portion. They were accommodating to my vegan diet and allium allergy, though my dish ended up coming out with green onions--I just picked them off and they were just on top, and everything else was tasty. The space does get very noisy, probably due to the acoustics, but the service is always friendly. read more

I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich which was savory, loved the cole slaw & slices of apple on it were a surprise but good! We popped in here yesterday for drinks before the concert series and sat at the bar. MJ was our bartender and she made me the best espresso martini! I had requested for it not to be on the strong side and she knew exactly what I was looking for and she certainly delivered. I loved every sip of my delicious drink. The bar area was very clean, inviting and MJ was very attentive to us as well as to everyone enjoying their time at the bar. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome, being so friendly and thoughtful with making our drinks. I will be back again for these for sure. It's like it's a restaurant policy to make the food and then leave it sitting for 15-20 minutes before bringing it to the table. One time would be understandable, but every single time I have been here--six visits--at different times and different days of the week--at least one hot dish comes out feeling like it had been made and then they forced the server to do an Easter egg hunt to find it before bringing it to us. My family of 7 (5 adults and 2 grand children) arrived at 10am yesterday. Staff wasn't ready and we were told to wait a bit while they set up a table. I looked around. No other customers were in the restaurant. I'm giving this place 1 star for various reasons. Due to some mechanical issues no tea, no coffee, no iced tea, no Arnold Palmers were available. So we ordered bottled waters. About 45 minutes later the "food" arrived. One child ordered pancakes and a single cold pancake with a dollop of whipped cream arrived and was sent back with a request for toast. Most of the adults ordered from Brunch menu: farmers market scramble, ranchers hash and all were luke warm. My turkey burger was luke warm and appeared as though it was microwaved earlier and was one of the worst entrees I have ever ordered from a restaurant. Our Asian server was clueless and never asked "how is everything" and at this point our group was DONE. I asked for the check and gave the server a 15% tip but rounded down purposely. None of us will ever go back. No one complained and we just left. read more

My company ordered lunch from here and it was $20 for their crisp'd green salad (gf) which they forgot the avocado in my salad. sweetgreens is 2x the size of this True Food bowl. The greens, I could have bought a large container from Safeway for $5 and received 5x the amount of greens. The size of this container for the price is insane; the amount of food they give you is SO small. I ate an entire subway sandwich after this because it didn't fill me up at all. Maybe 10 pieces of chicken as well in the entire salad. I am extremely disappointed and will never order from this restaurant again. read more

We have been here many times. Each times little more disappointing then the last,unfortunately. We were sweated quickly,outside. Our food which was two orders of the GF chicken and fries and a cup of soup took. vERY long time . As a matter of fact other tables they were seated after us and had more complex orders for their food before us ! We had to ask about our food and finally it came. The fries were not edible as they were fully burnt . We ordered spritzers which were bland and taster just like water . The restrooms were disgusting. No toilet paper, trash ever where. It looked like the sinks we had not been cleaned in a month. The soup dependents were broken . No toilet seat covers. Lots of staff working but no service. With so many good options in WC I'd say's skip true foods and pick another place. read more
