    tuna melt
    Tommy L.

If you're a fan of really healthy sandwiches and a family-friendly environment, this is the place to come. They have a great variety of items on their menu, but when I saw the tuna melt, I had to try it. The lady who helped me was super friendly, and honestly, she may have made the best tuna melt I've ever had. I'd definitely rank it in my top five favorites. The sourdough was toasted just right, the large portion of tuna was perfectly seasoned, and the cheese, lettuce, avocado, and tomato all blended together so well. It was refreshing and delicious from start to finish. The place is a little tucked away inside a small center, so it's not something you'll spot right off the street. But once you find it, grab a sandwich, maybe a salad too, and be sure to say hi to the friendly ladies who owns the place. Stopping by today was a lot of fun, and I'll definitely be back.

I've been eating at tomato patch for over a decade, beginning about 15 years ago and there are Tarzana location. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful these ladies are and how delicious the food is. I can honestly say I've never once had a bad meal here. They go away above and beyond. 10-stars if I could!

ALWAYS A FAVORITE, and for 20+ years! The owners, the service, the men options - salads, sandwiches, soups..., and the frozen yogurt!!

All I can say is I've been going to this place for the last 20 some years, and it does not disappoint! I would say hands down the best family owned small restaurant/cafe all around.. the owners the people that work there it doesn't get any better..

What a pleasant and simple little cafe! Tomato Patch features a straight forward, veggie-entric menu. Salads were fresh and yummy. The patio dining area is quiet and peaceful - perfect place to munch on a slald. The lettuce was very fresh tasting, the avocado was perfect, and both the egg and tuna salad we're light and tasty. I am so grateful for simple cafes like this in a time when restaurants are always featuring burgers that are so tall they can't fit in your mouth! I digress. Tomato patch hit the spot and would probably taste even better on a hot day.

These are the kinda little quick bite shops that are the best. I had to try Tomato Patch after looking at the 5 stars 384 reviews. What a great gem, people inside are so friendly, nice, and always smiling. I tried the club sandwich and I gotta tell you it was more like a gourmet club perfectly cut, perfectly toppings set, everything on the sandwich was perfect and fresh. Not one part of the sandwich had a brown or lite brown just fresh amazing. They make fresh cookies I tried one out. Soft in the middle crispy on the outside very good. Overall sandwich good size, coke, chips, and Cooke 17$ can't go wrong. Will be back if I'm in the area.

Lunch that Tomato Patch catered for us with vegan lettuce wraps, BLT sandwiches and chicken breast sandwiches.

The food was fresh and delicious, and the team did a great job despite what seemed like challenging conditions. My only concern was the temperature inside the restaurant. During the 10 minutes I was there, it felt extremely hot and uncomfortable, to the point where I was sweating while waiting to order. I'm not sure if the AC was broken or not running, but with food being cooked as well, it felt unusually warm inside. I felt bad for both the customers and employees working in those conditions. Overall, I had a positive experience and would definitely return. I just hope the temperature issue gets addressed soon.

Inside it's old but relatively clean, but again empty and kind of depressing. The strip mall it's in isn't exactly attractive either. I was in a small group and problems started as soon as we started ordering. The surly, bored looking cashier kept telling us they are out of shawarma, they can't do wraps, they have no eggplant, they don't have this other stuff or that stuff... like half the menu was unavailable. We order and before the food comes out, he tells us even the stuff we ordered, much is unavailable. The food came and while some of the grilled pork was okay, some was burnt black and some was medium rare. Look, some people will eat that, but if you're cooking pork like that you have to ask - don't just give people pink-inside pork. Parts of my group were grossed out. I will say, the quantities are decent. But the quality is meh. Nothing special. There's nothing special here, the food came out very slow, the one guy working took a smoke break after giving us the food so we were alone for a while. Just weird and depressing. I do appreciate they don't have the nerve to ask for a tip, as I'd be pretty annoyed if I had given one.

If it's your first time, he walks you through the menu and helps you choose something that suits your tastebud. There is a paper menu at every table so you can sit down and order from there or go up to the register to order. Food: there are plenty of options on the menu to choose from. What I recommend ordering is #19, because you get beef and chicken in your plate. The meat is very soft so you don't need a knife to cut it. The rice is seasoned perfectly with a hint of lemon to give you flavor. As for the grilled vegetables, they're on the sweet side but be careful of the jalapeños seeds as they give you a little kick. As for the salad, it was absolutely delicious. Everything I've ordered from this restaurant has been exceeding my expectations. The portions are also huge and worth the price. I'd definitely come again and bring my friends and family here!

($18 - Hangar 1 Mandarin Blossom Vodka, cold-pressed pineapple juice, fresh raspberry purée, lime juice fresh mint topper). I'm not a big drinker and am a fan of drinks that you can't really taste the alcohol and this was great. It was a fun to drink and was refreshing. For our entree my friend had the Fish & Chips. ($27 - Crispy haddock fillet, sea salt fries, tartar sauce, grilled lemon). I tried a piece of her fish and it was thinly battered, soft, and flavorful. I usually try to stay away from fried fish like this just because places use way too much better or the fish gets super oily but they was not the case with their fish & chips. You can tell they use quality ingredients. I had the 4 piece Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice. ($34 - Fresh ahi, dynamite sauce, wasabi tobiko, togarashi, toasted sesame). Oh my goodness was this delicious. This is usually something you'd eat as an appetizer but eating it alone is a meal in itself. Yes, it's pricey BUT it is totally worth it. Saint & Second is an upscale dining experience. Their food delivers to that level as well. I highly recommend if you're looking for a new date night spot or something intimate with friends. You can really taste the freshness of all the ingredients they use.

However, in my two most recent visits, only the atmosphere has remained a highlight -- the service has declined significantly. My most recent visit was two nights ago, on Father's Day, for a celebratory dinner. Our server was curt and unwelcoming throughout the meal. When my glass of wine arrived, the server suggested I taste it first -- which I did -- and it was immediately apparent that the wine had turned. Having ordered the same wine many times before without issue, I was confident this particular bottle was off. When I asked our server if the bartender could open a fresh bottle, she agreed without hesitation. However, moments later, a gentleman I assumed to be the manager approached and informed me that a new bottle would not be opened, as the current one had only been opened the day before and was, in his opinion, fine. His only alternative was to offer the same varietal at a higher price point. I understand that restaurants may have policies regarding open bottles, but in all my years of dining out, I have never encountered an establishment that refused to replace a glass of wine a guest found unacceptable -- especially when the server herself had encouraged me to taste it for that very reason. This experience left a lasting negative impression, and unfortunately I will neither return nor recommend this restaurant going forward.

Both plates came out within 10 min minutes I'd say. Both were tasty and filling. Pancakes were small-medium sized and came topped with berries and some very homemade tasing whipped cream and the sausage was so flavorful! The burrito came stuffed with eggs, potatoes, cheese. Price was pretty on point for the pancake combo plate as $18 is fairly standard but the $17 for the burrito may have been a tad high. I know it's hard to get an economical breakfast these days, so I do get it. The people working there were incredibly polite and it was a great experience.
