Parking lot: Private if small shared lot. I can see this place becoming packed at peak times that street parking should a consideration also. This place is in a strip mall smack dab in the middle of two other businesses. Food: I got their biggest bowl of ramen: Tomizo ramen that is A LOT of food in one sittting despite the bowl being small in size. It's not. The broth was rich, flavorful, meaty and savory if a bit on the salty side for me. However, the ramen and toppings were top notch. Get a bib because the splashing from the ramen is no joke either. Summary: I'll have to come back again on another night to try other things because what other diners ordered also looked delicious despite me being full from my own bowl. I used to really like this place. For a while it was my go-to ramen spot whenever I was in Torrance, and I've probably been here eight or more times in the past year. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been enough to take it off my list. Both the ramen and the service have gone downhill. The ramen I usually order just hasn't been the same. It used to have a richer, more flavorful broth, but lately it tastes flat and watered down compared to what I remember. Service was the bigger issue though. On our last visit the restaurant was practically empty, maybe four people at the bar, and when we asked for a table we were told no because it was "only for parties of three or more." That never used to be a problem, but fine, we sat where they wanted. Except then we watched a solo diner sit at a table after us, finish, and leave, followed by another couple who also got a table without question. We brought it up to the waitress, and she brushed us off and walked away. She also forgot our water twice after we asked. And I know they didn't reserve, because we were by the door and they were obviously walk ins. It's frustrating because I used to like this place, but after that experience and the dip in quality, I don't see myself coming back. Time to look for a new ramen spot in Torrance. read more

Yesterday I went alone I have been coming to this place for almost 2 years and what happened to me yesterday has never happened to me, I arrived at the same time as a couple, they were seated and I was seated 10 minutes later a guy arrived, the couple had already been served and I was waiting for the menu, the two girls and the guy just looked at me and did not help me until a guy went and looked at the guy who arrived 10 minutes after me, they helped him and not me. One of my favorite ramen spots in Southern California, Tomizo Ramen, serves authentic Hokkaido-style ramen, and you can taste the authenticity in the broth. It's a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant with mostly bar seating and is open late. The owner, Tom, is a massive fan of Ohtani and the Dodgers, so if you are a Dodger fan, you will love the decor of this place. All staff here are helpful and polite, including Stephen, Chihiro, and Koji. I have tried the Miso Ramen, which was great, and the broth was very flavorful, but the star of the show for me was the Miso Butter Corn Scallop Ramen. It was salty, and you could taste the butter a lot! I've never had ramen like this before. The Chicken Kaarage is also great, very crispy, and they have different mayos for your liking. Some of the best ramen found in the South Bay and even the LA area (yes, I'm looking at you Sawtelle & Little Tokyo). Besides the ramen being incredible here, they are also BYOB. I don't really know of any establishment in LA county that allows you to bring a 6-pack into a restaurant and drink it free of charge without any issues. They likely keep this information on the low and I believe they do my advertise this anywhere for a reason. It's also not apparent in any reviews on Yelp or other platforms either. Onto the food: asked for a a spicy level 3 (you have to pay more for the spicier levels which I think is kind of dumb). It was a good medium spice level that went well with the Kirin beers that I brought in. The miso ramen was good, although my basic ass loves Tonkotsu and it didn't seem like they had that on the menu unfortunately. It was still amazing and I would highly recommend this place to others. The only negative in my eyes is that the place is on the small size so if you arrive during peak hours, you might have to wait a while. They have some tables that seem like mostly for 4 people, and then the bar type seating that you'd expect at a more authentic Japanese restaurant. read more

Service is always great food is spot on. Really simple menu that doesn't disappoint. Nice portions that are just enough to sustain you for a good long time. Both broth and noodles are rich and perfect. (BTW, there is plenty of ground pork at the bottom of the bowl) Late hours are great Sunday to Thursday 11 am to midnight (last call is 11:30), Friday and Saturday last order is 1:30 am. The takoyaki came out temperature hot and I waited a bit for it to cool down and the flavors are delicious. Especially with the ginger on the side. The yuzu soda is so good! It's my favorite now. Then I ordered the spicy miso ramen level 3 spicy, I really liked it! The noodles were chewy and not too soft for me. The pork belly chashu is good too! Not too over powering in flavor. I the service here is friendly, and the ambience is like a small ramen café feel that, to me, me has sort of an authentic vibe to it. The ordering was super efficient and the food came out really quickly. The ramen noodles were nice and fork and the soup had a nice kick, but I didn't think it was too spicy at all. I really enjoyed it. I added the egg as well, which was also cooked very well. The chicken was a great shared side dish. It comes with a mayo dip and you get to pick which one. Chicken was really crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place, and I really like the ramen and chicken here. I enjoy the Ramen here, especially for those late nights, but I used their online service and order through Revel which is the link the tab takes you on their website. And I waited about 25 minutes before I went to go retrieve my food since I know they tend to be busy on the weekend. And when I arrived, I was told that my food was not ready because it wasn't submitted. Now I didn't blame them because they weren't aware, but I feel like their service should be more reliable, especially when ordering online. Food was good though. I tend to order to go because of the long Wait Time but like I said if I had to wait 25 minutes and then I'm asked to wait another 20 minutes because the order wasn't prepared on time then that's become a big inconvenience. Yum! We went here as it was the only place open late on a weekday, and glad we did. So far the only place I know of in the South Bay to have tsukemen (dipping noodle). Tsukemen's broth was a little salty, but my partner enjoyed his spicy miso ramen. Big enough portion to take leftovers. The space is pretty small, so this is not a great place for large parties. My first gripe is that this is on the only ramen place that only gives 2 pieces of chashu for a $17 ramen bowl. If you want more, thats an extra $4 dollars Secondly the placed the container of spicy that I asked for on the side in side my ramen container in my food, huge health hazard. I also asked why there was so little in the container, I had to buy more, they charged me $0.55 for the same size container, Talk about inflation, this is the last time I come here, and this would have been my regular spot now that Zabon Ramen had closed. We were seated as soon as they opened for their second shift (5:30pm) and were helped throughout our visit since it was both me and my friend's first time. I got the miso ramen and it was super flavorful and would definitely get it again next time! This is the second time I came here and there was no wait. This place is elegant japanese style. I like their tsukemen. Its $16 but they give about 300g of ramen noodles. It is really filling even though there is only 2 slices of pork. The dipping ramen broth is so delicious. Ive tried different versions of tsukemen at other restaurants but Tomizo's broth really has a great balance of the savory with a slight tang of sour. The broth coats the noodles really well and you can taste the flavor as you chew the noodles. The first time I came I tried the spicy miso ramen. The broth for this ramen was savory but not overly salty. I will be adding this to my list of local ramen places to go. I think this become one of my top favs. read more

There is a pretty big bar area and then a few tables. I opted for the bar. They have variety of ramen from different areas of Japan. I was trying to decide between the miso, shoyu and tsukemen. I opted for the miso because I wanted a deeper broth. I also wanted the karage. The karage came out pretty quickly. I loved the yuzu mayo that they provided (there is other mayo flavor that you can get). After the ramen came out, the ramen was pretty good. I thought that the pork was super tender. I wished the broth was a little more deep, but I thought it was pretty good. The noodles were cooked to perfection. For a small place, I think Tomizo is pretty good. I would definitely come back.
