First, their kimchi, radish kimchi seemed to be mixed with old one and new batch, not sure why they did this. maybe trying to speed up the fermentation process? Second, Haejangguk was quite blend yet reeking meat smell (not sure how else to describe this, wondering if the meat was getting old). Blood was not fresh either imo. Third sundae soup, kinda disappointing seeing only glass noodle filled sundae. If they used real sundae as well, the soup wouldn't have been so blend. This was my first visit and I really enjoyed the food. I had the galbitang which is a short rib soup in a super flavorful clear broth with rice noodles and thin strips of omelette. It comes with a really yummy dip for the meat and purple rice.It really hit the spot. This is a great no nonsense soup to have anytime. My friend has the yukgaejang. This soup was a more rich beef soup with enoki mushrooms and noodles. It was amazing and super flavorful. The spice was perfect but may be too spicy for those not accustomed to it. The service was attentive and the food came out quickly. The restaurant is fairly spacious, perfect for small or bigger groups. There is also plenty of parking. TL;DR - the mixed haejangguk and sullungtang are solid choices. The mixed haejangguk has tripe and intestines in it which was surprisingly delicious! I really like coming here. It's very spacious, lots of seating, the service is quick and polite. It's a good spot for hanging out with friends. Their sullungtang is a solid code if you like a creamy bone broth. They give you your own salt, pepper, etc to flavor to your hearts content. I tried the mixed haejangguk for the first time and loved it. I took a gamble because it is ox blood, tripe, brisket, and INTESTINES. there's other stuff in there but that was the highlight. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. Save yourself a trip to KTown and drop by Myung Ga for some authentic Korean soups. They usually call it hang over soup but I just call it bomb ass korean soup. Make sure to eat in the restaurant because they have really good kimchi and radishes that you can get endless refills on. The meals are large so get your sweat pants ready. My wife and I got the Spicy Gamjatang and the Wooguji Galbitang. Both have a little bit of spiciness but the Gamjatang is the one with a more peppery and overall spicier broth. There was a sign that said "No kimchi to go or brought home" and that's all I needed to know this place was going to be amazing. The interior was super open/spacious and giving community space. We were seated immediately and food came out relatively quick. Prices were decent from around $20-$30 per item. More non budget friendly items like the Bossam at $45 were also available for larger groups to share, which we did just that! Utensils and napkins are found hidden in a drawer on the ends of the table. I've had a lot of banchan and I will say we ~cleared~ our plates. Personally, I just wished they had the potato side dish. Huge fan of radish and fish tofu though so it worked out. Kimchi was sweet and encompassed the perfect balance of sourness & spice. Best kimchi we've had! Bossam was tender and the cut of the meat was not too thin or thick. There was also plenty of Napa cabbage and never felt like we had too little or too much. As of right now, this place is marked as one of the best Bossam I've had. My bone broth soup (Sullongtang) had a hefty amount of beef and rice noodles were so silky. Not the best I've had, but still tasty. Great portions all around. Hearty meals that left our family satisfied and our tummies not bloated (a win is a win). The food reminded me of home, everything from the food to the service was excellent. The pork soup was delicious and similar to tonkotsu (for those curious), with chili paste adding a nice kick. I've been on a mission to try all the sullungtang I can get my hands on in LA county, which leads me to this spot. The interior was spacious and spotless and I got seated around lunchtime instantly. Service was very kind. This could have come down to miscommunication but I had asked for no intestine in my Mixed Sullungtang, but ended up having more intestine than any other protein (tripe, knee, brisket) in my soup. That would've been fine, I just fished them out of my soup and ate around it. However, when it came to the brisket which I was looking forward to, it somehow managed to be dry. Dry to the point that it felt crumbly in my mouth. On a positive note, I loved the huge chunk of knee and tripe. The flavor of the broth itself was decent and the banchan was nice as well. I could chalk this up to just a bad visit and may be open to visiting in the future and ordering something else. read more

One of the go-to spots for us in the South Bay when we crave some Korean soups! Huge fan of the all the soups here, and the sullungtang, gamjatang, doganitang are what's on rotation for us. The protein in each is more than any other Korean restaurants too, making it very satisfying! Jokbal is pricey but there's a lot. Comes with various veggies and dipping sauces as well, and the sauces are standouts compared to other restaurants in the area! Banchan's solid with good kimchi! Happy to update this review and give Myung Ga its rightful stars. Everything has been ironed out, and I had a pleasant dining experience both inside and for takeout. I had the galbi tang, and wow -- the broth is extremely deep, yet still has clarity. It's one of the best beef broths I've had, and it can genuinely be used as a pho broth if they added the right spices. The meat fell right off the bone and was not frozen to the core like it was last time. We also ordered bossam, and it was great. I don't have any major notes about this as it was as good as any other place I've had, but not standout. The to-go situation is fantastic. All the banchan is packaged extremely well with special containers, and the food is packaged in a way that feels very secure and won't spill. Wow! The store was spacious and clean, so my first impression was good. I tried the hangover soup that was recommended to me, and it tasted similar to what I used to eat in Korea. In Korea, people eat a lot of hangover soup or soup with rice to ease their stomachs the day after drinking. It was delicious. The haejangguk had a broth base with just the right amount of cabbage and meat, so it was spicy and not too spicy. I ordered Galbi tang ( beef ribs) soup and my friend ordered bulgogi soup. We both end up eating my soup because we're not really on sweet or salty soup... The meat and the soup base are perfectly seasoned. All their side dishes were complimented on the soup and love their rice too. One of my favorite spots for Galbi-tang! I've been to the locations in Arcadia and La Canada and they have been consistently good, so I'm glad to have found another one of their locations in Gardena! This small restaurant serves authentic, comforting Korean soups and dishes that hit the spot whenever I'm craving a comforting meal. They don't give much banchan but their kimchi cabbage is delicious. Their galbitang is a pretty large portion that comes with several tender beef short ribs with glass noodles in a comforting broth. Not acquired to Korean cuisine. My friend wanted to come here and I was open to try new things. Myung Ga Haejangguk has plenty of parking and lots of seatings inside. It was empty on Saturday night during dinner time which I felt bad for the business owner. I ordered the brisket soup. My friend ordered the dangmyun soondae which they described to me as blood sausage. I tried a slice of it and it wasn't for me. You must have an acquired taste for that sausage. My soup came as well as korean side dishes. My soup also came with a bowl of rice. I thought the soup was very light. I personally like strong flavors so I couldn't taste anything. For the brisket, I thought they didn't put much brisket inside my soup. I saw my friends' soup and they got large chunks of meat. My soup was mostly liquid and few slices of brisket and little bit of noodle. In the end, I thought my portion size was little and I actually went to fast food afterwards. For the amount of food I got, I thought it was a bit pricey but you are paying for them for this business to survive. My friend loves korean food and she enjoyed it. I don't eat too much Korean food so didn't enjoy it as much as my friend. This business pretty much targets Korean customers. My favorites are the Spicy Galbitang and the Tukbaegi Bulgogi. I love that their soups come out piping hot, exactly how I love my soups! Their side dishes are very simple and they only serve pickled radish and kimchi. It's so good that they have a sign on the wall that you cannot get leftover side dishes to go! So, I was craving some Seoul food. It's how I ended up here. Ended up with my choice of parking. It was a really early dinner for me. Seemed like the plaza was closed. If you don't know the plaza, there's tons of parking. Free too. Go there. You'll see what I mean. Walked in. I'm the only customer. So, ya know service will be excellent. It was. The staff was so friendly. Even as other customers came in, I didn't even have to gesture to get anyone's attention. I felt like I was in their home and they were making sure I was taken care. As for the food, I enjoyed it. It's not bland - don't forget to add seasoning (salt and scallions) to your taste. Comes out hot and fast. And don't be shy - ask for more banchan. This place specializes in blood sausage soup, but that's not really my jam(blood clot? Lol) so we just tried their other soups and they were really good! Kind of sounds gross but actually many cultures have their own version of blood sausage. In Korea, blood sausage soup is considered one of the premier hangover meals and doesn't taste gross at all. Their Sul lung tang(bone broth soup) was good but their kalbi tang(short rib soup) was amazing. The balance of sweet and savory was just right! And, they had four pieces of meat in there! Usually, three is standard, two is ok if they're bigger, one is just sad(and cheap). The yukgaejang(spicy fern soup) was really good as well. A little too spicy for me, im kind of a lightweight, but the flavor of the broth was spot on. I actually prefer the yukgaejang at Palsaik bbq but my wife tells me the flavor here is more on the money with what a true yukgaejang should taste like even though she likes the Palsaik one more as well. They put leeks in theirs, which we thoroughly enjoy. Also, the portion is quite generous! I have to comment on the banchans(side dishes). There are only two which is fairly standard for a soup place but the flavor is so good that I don't need 6-7 varieties. The Napa kimchi is on the fresher side which I prefer and has a nice pronounced sesame flavor. The radish kimchi was a little more ripe than I like but still very good, sweet and tangy. This place is such a welcome addition to the other Korean restaurants in the neighborhood. I hope they continue to refine their offerings and remain for a long time. Went on a Sunday evening around 6 pm- not crowded at all. Very spacious and good for groups. Service was quick- looked at the menu for a minute or so and then ordered- sulleongtang for me and the sulleongtang mixed meats for hubby. While we were waiting for our food, they brought out some iced tea (barley?) and banchan- fish cake, cabbage kimchi and spicy radish. The kimchi was SOOOO good and I couldn't stop eating it- it was fresh and not aged too much. The radish was really good too- slightly sweet and sour. The fishcake was nice too because I love fishcake! It took awhile for the sulleongtang to come out (15 minutes or so?), but it came out piping hot. It was very flavorful and even better with a little salt and kimchi in it, but I had stuffed myself so much with kimchi and rice that I couldn't eat much! Took it home and reheated the next day and it was even better! It's slightly more pricey than some other places around, but definitely will come back for more. read more
