Great late-night ramen spot in Gardena! Their signature miso ramen had really deep flavor and the medium wavy noodles made it fun to eat. I added in a side order of butter to add another dimension of flavor to the broth (highly recommended). The egg was very runny in the middle, so I would wait for it to finish cooking in the broth and eat it near the end. My boyfriend had the spicy miso ramen and he said the spicy level was about 4 out of 10. Our favorite was their karaage (fried chicken). Tender pieces of chicken thighs are freshly fried and seasoned to perfection. It's a perfect compliment to ramen, and I would highly recommend that everyone try! read more

Tomizo is probably my favorite place for ramen in the South Bay. They are a small restaurant that seats maybe 20 people and they're open late. The staff is always pleasant and the food comes out fresh and fast. My go-tos are the Spicy Miso Ramen with an extra egg, then a side of their Karaage chicken. Upon arrival, we weren't greeted and eventually seated ourselves. Shortly after, a group of four arrived and was immediately attended to; the waiter even asked us to move to the bar to accommodate them, which we declined. When we declined to give up our table he brought a gentleman from the kitchen and they were talking and the gentleman kept looking at us then he brought a lady out and they proceeded to talk she was also staring at us. She returned to the kitchen. Despite arriving first the waiter made us wait while that same group was served first. We waited over 10 minutes he finally came to take our order. This is my favorite ramen place. Its amazing, the flavor is to die for. The prices are affordable, with one caveat and the reason I gave this a 4 star. The lemon wedges are wild yo, how you gonna charge me 1.50 for 2 lemon wedges? They're usually free with water. 1.50 for lemon wedges adds 30 cents to my tip and then with tax its pushes it to basically 2 dollars for 2 lemon wedges. That's crazy to me. I dont think I've ever been charged for lemon wedges. Whats next charging me to sit down? This is crazy to me; but even with that being said I will be back the flavor is too good for me not to. I just hate that they charge for lemon wedges and it honestly annoys me; but the great food that they serve keeps me coming back for more whether I like the cost of lemon wedges or not. But, dude, come on man, like that's wild just give me 1 lemon wedge for my water. It helps cut through the fat from the pork belly. Which means it'll taste better and keep me coming back for more. I just arrived from a late night flight at LAX and my group had a craving for Pho. This was the closest thing to Pho at that time so we drove there and it didn't disappoint. We loved the food, our ramen and the other food we tried were very tasty. I didn't get to take photos of everything coz we were very hungry. The ramen is big enough that you can share if you don't have a big appetite. I was hungry but I barely finished mine and my cousin took half of hers to go. The price on the menu was pretty reasonable and service was fast. It's a small and charming resto... the ambiance is nice with smooth lighting and soft upbeat music. I can see it getting pretty crowded during the day. The place is clean and even their bathroom is nice and very clean. (I think the area is considered Gardena but it's close enough) Spicy miso ramen is my favorite but I do like to add scallops just because I love scallops and they have it! I also never pass on adding an egg because they make a perfect jammy soft-boiled egg and it's just f****ing delicious. The miso butter scallop ramen is also good but they usually put the butter on top and I wouldn't let the whole butter melt all the way so I'd ask for it to be on the side. The garlic edamame is wow just so savory. I love garlic and they put a good amount in there! Cilantro gyoza was surprisingly good as well, they add this citrusy-pesto-like sauce on top and it was good and won't leave you too full before the ramen. THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME. I had the shoyou ramen and the gyoza, and my gosh, was it delicious. The broth was delicious and complex, the noodles were thick and al dente, and the chasu was amazing. Perfectly seasoned and soft and fatty. The egg was perfectly cooked. The yuzu soda was so refreshing with the meal. The hostess was incredibly sweet and kind and very helpful. First time here! Food was delicious nothing bad all I would say is the sauce on top of the gyoza was a bit much took away the flavor of the gyoza itself but it wasn't my issue. When first walking in neither I or my boyfriend were greeted coming in didn't feel welcomed, felt as if we interrupted something between co workers and their conversations about their outside lives, I do understand it's a small place and voices or conversations would be heard of course! But it got to the point where I felt I was also in the conversation as well, the gentleman that helped us was nice and polite but the girl who worked with him wasn't attentive, and was on her phone quite a few times, she seemed to only really want to talk to her co worker about her life and only seen her interact with customers a few times but left the gentlemen handle it more than herself. The place was a bit warm and only one person from the back came to check on the thermostat but other than that atmosphere was clean. It took a really long time for our food to arrive, but I get it because there were only two people working and the place was crowded! When we finally got our bowl, it tasted bitter and the chashu was salty. Only the egg was good. And when we asked for Coca Cola, they didn't even pour it into a glass. There is an after taste that comes from the bamboo. I tried this place last week on a weeknight after a late night at work, and wanted to explore the ramen choices around Hawthorne. I looked them up, and saw they had a decent amount of good reviews. I liked that they stay open late until midnight. I didn't see much Tokotsu ramens on their menu, except for the dipping ramen (Tsukemen) that has the Tokotsu broth. I decided to call in an order for pickup, and it was ready within 10 minutes of getting there which was super convenient. Upon opening my takeout bag with goodies when I got home, there was instructions taped to the plastic container with the noodles and toppings. Inside it also comes with a small amount of clear liquid that is referred to as dashi. Pouring a small amount of this to the noodles helps loosen them, but do so after you separate all the toppings/chashu/egg to the broth. The broth itself tasted a little too salty to slurp but as dipping the noodles, it's perfect. I can taste the freshness of the handmade noodles, and appreciate that the recipe was crafted with authentic flavors from Hokkaido, Japan. I'm interested in trying their other ramen selections, and hope to broaden my ramen horizon during my stay here. They always say the 3rd time is a charm, I really love the Ramen here.  My favorite is and will always be the spicy miso with pork belly.  The experience is like taste in 3D. RICH, BOLD, MEATY, FLAVORFUL AND DELICIOUS.  I hate the fact that I have to wait till 5pm when you open just to snag me a bowl.  This Ramen is the mother of all the Ramen's that I have experienced so far.   Honestly other Ramen spots like Olligo Grill Ramen should pay attention to detail and take notes on creating a better taste experience. We made a long drive to try this place out. The parking was a little hectic and the restaurant itself is tiny, so we were lucky to be seated at the bar as soon as we arrived. The ramen was amazing with a rich and creamy broth that had just the right amount of spice. They had a Yuzu soda on the menu that I'm going to forever be craving , definitely recommend it. Doesn't look like much and it's not! Its a really small restaurant but it definitely packs a punch. I had been dying of hunger all day. I wanted some ramen since it has been so cold in LA. Older the spicy miso Ramen with chicken (btw the spicy is spicy) & a side order of Chicken Karaaga with spicy mustard sauce. The girls got the kids Ramen bowl only cost 5 buck & ramen soup with chicken. Our server was great her name was Chiniro she worked all the tables perfectly and it was pretty packed around the time we left she didn't miss a beat. Came here with my friends since we were in the area; we arrived around 5:50pm on a Tuesday evening. There is a small parking lot in the front and another parking lot behind it (which may be for another plaza but has parking spots + a short walk). Once you get to the door you sign in or ring the bell if no one comes out within a minute. We were immediately seated but this place is small. I believe it was 2 tables and then the rest is bar space. I opted for their miso butter corn scallop ramen (add egg +2). Miso soup base with pork belly, kirurage, menma, green onion, butter, corn, baby scallops, medium wavy noodles, bean sprouts, onion, napa, leek, ground chicken. I don't really enjoy the napa/leek combo for the ramen but that's only my personal preference. The butter that they give you - they do not hold back. It was a solid 3tbps block of butter just sitting in there. (Maybe ask them to get it on the side and split this with someone LOL) The pork belly is extremely flavorful and melts in the mouth (or was that with the addition of the butter). The broth at the end of the day was flavorful but for me, needed an extra kick of spice to it. Prob would have to ask how to get this in spicy form. There are so many ingredients here that this is definitely going to satisfy your craving and will make you full. I kept asking how much more I had when I kept scooping up more noodles. Their scallops were interesting and their egg was runny and good after I let it cook a little. All in all, this place is solid for ramen and I enjoyed the different things they did here with 'em. I saw a sign that said you can adjust the noodles, so if you do have specific cravings do let them know. Servers come by to serve water as well semi-regularly. read more

Wow guys. Order the Shoyu. You won't regret it. I usually prefer Shoyu over heavier Tonkotsu broths, because it's much easier on the palate. But only when it's done right. Most places in SoCal can't get Shoyu right, and you're left with a watery, overly salty flat broth, with noodles that don't soak up the broth. Tomizo has gotten it down, and it's unique as well. The broth has just the right amount of fat from chicken broth, but it's not overwhelming. There are heavy notes of Dashi, and it perfectly complements the soy sauce. At first sip, you may think the broth is salty, but you discover that it's actually just the right amount of saltiness and umami which allows you to finish the broth with ease. The noodles are nice and al dente. They're thin and they absorb the broth well. The Chashu is literally perfect. It melts in your mouth and it's more meaty than just the typical fatty pork belly. The egg was a bit underwhelming for me. It was cold and I could tell it was refrigerated, so I can't really judge it too much. The rest of the toppings, the menma, and green onions pair well with everything. I would also love some pickled ginger here, but you can order that on the side. I'll be back for the Shoyu for sure. Some of the other ramens they have definitely seem on the heavier side, but I'll try those as well. I actually came here after eating a full Japanese BBQ meal at Tamaen, and I wasn't that hungry, but I wanted some soup. I didn't think I could finish this bowl of ramen, but holy shit.
