First and foremost, I usually don't leave reviews, but my experience at Hearsay on the Green was disappointing enough that I feel it needs to be addressed. One of my coworkers, who loves trying new restaurants recommended Hearsay on the Green to me. One of my best friends was having a birthday coming up, so I told her about the restaurant. After looking at the menu & pictures, she agreed that we should go there. I was genuinely excited to try somewhere new and celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly. When my friend and I walked in, the host asked whether or not we wanted to sit at the bar or get a table. Didn't even say hi or how are you guys doing, nothing! A thin girl with glasses. I was taken aback because that is not the kind of customer service you expect, especially from the first person you encounter when entering a restaurant. We decided to sit at the bar, where the experience unfortunately did not improve. The bartenders were all women, and I expected everyone to provide the same level of hospitality to every customer. Instead, after acknowledging us, one of the bartenders walked away and sat in the back with someone I assumed was the manager. They remained talking for quite some time. The other bartender was on her phone at this time so we eventually had to ask one of the servers to get someone to assist us. When they finally came over, the attitude was extremely rude and dismissive. There were no recommendations, no genuine effort to make us feel welcomed, and very little customer service. At first, we thought maybe they were having a bad day. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be the case. Not long after, a male customer came and sat next to us, and the same bartenders immediately gave him their attention and provided noticeably different treatment. At that point we genuinely felt as though we were not welcome. As customers, that is an extremely uncomfortable feeling. Throughout our visit, the bartenders were frequently on their phones and having personal conversations. At one point, one of them even mentioned drinking on the job which in my mind isn't smart when your customers are 3ft away. It appears that management was completely ok with it. The manager, who was sitting toward the back for most of our visit, didn't seem to address any of these issues. Overall, the experience left us with the impression that there was favoritism among some of the employees and that management was not providing the level of oversight or professionalism you would expect at a restaurant like this. Despite everything, we decided to give Hearsay another shot and came back a couple weeks later. Unfortunately, we were dissappointed yet again, only to find out one of the bartenders was also a supervisor. That was concerning because many of the issues we experienced appeared to involve the bar staff and their customer service. I have traveled extensively and have previous experience working in the service industry, so I understand that every restaurant can have an off day. However, this felt like more than just a bad day. The lack of professionalism, inconsistent treatment of customers, and apparent lack of management oversight made both visits extremely disappointing. We will not be back! I hope Hearsay takes this feedback seriously and looks into what is happening within its front-of-house & management teams. The restaurant has the potential to provide a great experience, but the customer service and professionalism we encountered needs significant improvement! read more

I expected much more from Hearsay on the Green based on the Yelp reviews and a ChatGPT recommendation. We visited on an Astros game day, and the restaurant seemed completely unprepared. Our server rarely checked on us, and it took more than 30 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did, everything was cold. We ordered the egg breakfast, which was supposed to come with potatoes. The potatoes never arrived. By the time I was able to ask about them, we had finished eating. They were eventually brought out, and our server said we "wouldn't be charged" for them, even though they were included with the meal. We also ordered the French toast, which the menu said came with either blueberry compote or fresh strawberries. No one asked which we preferred, and because our server never checked on us, I couldn't clarify. It arrived with only syrup. When I asked the food runner for the strawberries, she brought jam instead. I understand restaurants are busy on game days, but this felt like more than a busy shift. For lunch, we got waited on right away without a reservation. Started by sharing a side beet salad & cup of gumbo. Both were quite yummy. Had the morning sandwich with over medium egg. Overall the sandwich was good but you need all the ingredient it comes with, don't eliminate any, otherwise you might be disappointed. The ham is so thin I couldn't really taste it. Actually, the over medium egg and the croissant (and the onions I added) were the most dominate part of the sandwich. Rosemary French fries were quite wonderful! Our server was attentive and the vibe was chill & pleasant for lunchtime. I really like their menu. Its a nice, diverse menu offering a little bit of something for everyone. First and only experience was a late lunch visit when the restaurant was quiet and almost empty. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful to those new to the menu. The Cuban was a solid 4/5 but the French Fries were a 5/5. The sandwich was very large but the amount of bread overwhelmed the contents inside. The meal started with a golden beet salad which was a 4/5. I had made an attempt to try dinner the previous night and it was very crowded with an hour wait. So consider the restaurant's popularity when deciding to visit. Overall, the food and setting made a great experience which I enjoyed and look forward to repeating. read more

My husband and I came in last weekend while we did a staycation at Embassy. Though the restaurant was consistently busy, service was excellent. Josh was our server, and he provided excellent recommendations for what we should order. (My husband and I actually both got salmon.) He ensured our water was refilled and that we had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant remained busy, but it wasn't super loud. I'd advise making a reservation to err on the safe side. I appreciate the menu noting which items are gluten free, as I'm extremely intolerant. Josh also asked if anyone had food allergies the kitchen should be aware of when he first came to our table. We made a noon reservation for my friend's birthday on a Thursday. There were very few tables. The tables are mostly high top style but there are standard tables in the party area. There's a huge chandelier near the front of the place. Decor is warm. Our waiter was quick to take our order and brought the food out quickly. I ordered the vegetable plate but added a medium salmon. It was a portion for two people really. I ate all the salmon but the vegetables included green beans, broccolini, mushrooms, peppers, squash, yellow beets. To my surprise there was a grid goat cheese ball. A side of pearl couscous. It all tasted so warm and made my lunch. It was so cold and dreary outside. They offer a large selection of whiskeys, although I opted for a few pours of local IPAs instead. We dropped in for a quick bite before a concert at the Toyota Center. We were seated right away at 5:15 PM. We saw the Houston Restaurant Week menu and decided to try it, 3 courses for $39 sounded good. We shared all of our courses between two people. Here's what we ordered: * cheesesteak egg rolls- comes one roll, cut in half. Served hot and crispy, * Kung Pao Shrimp & Calamari - crispy and yummy, complaint is there was only 2 shrimps but the dish is bigger than expected. * Seared Atlantic Salmon - asked for it to be cooked medium, was perfect temperature, with light crisp on the outside. * Beef Short Rib - the meat was tender, cheese grits were so good. The Brussels sprouts were too greasy and the beef was drenched in heavy sauce. After scraping off the sauce, found the meat to be very good. * Crème Brûlée - perfect, no complaints. Must order if this is your dessert. * Hearsay Bread Pudding- served warm with vanilla ice cream, so deliciously moist with the caramel topping. I would definitely order this every time. Our waitress didn't appear after serving entree until we were done with it. I needed refill on water and waited 10 mins before getting it. The restaurant was not crowded, appeared to be at 30% occupancy by the time we left. Tables near the front of the restaurant is closely positioned, feels crowded. Parking is a challenge here, being by the Toyota Center and other busy venues. read more

We stopped by Hearsay Bar & Grill during our stay at the Embassy Suites because it's conveniently attached to the hotel. Since the hotel is dog friendly, we assumed the restaurant would be as well. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside and are limited to a very small outdoor patio with only a few tables. The patio overlooks the street and a utility building, so the atmosphere wasn't particularly inviting. The biggest downside was that while we were enjoying our drinks outside, we noticed several cockroaches scurrying around the patio area. That definitely took away from the experience. To be fair, the staff were polite and accommodating, and the drinks we ordered were good. However, compared to many of the other dog-friendly places we visited in Houston, this was our least favorite stop. If you're staying at the Embassy Suites with a dog, it's certainly convenient, but there are much better dog-friendly options within walking distance around Discovery Green. Okay I'm just going to be honest...I was not a fan of this restaurant experience. The ambience is nice. I could see it being a good place for a drink but that's about it. It's absolutely a hotel restaurant and you can tell. The food was mediocre. We got the Caesar salad which had no dressing and when we asked for some more they barely gave us a spoonful more. I'm convinced that the "short rib" was actually just a piece of overcooked chuck roast. The Brussels sprouts were pretty good but the bacon they used tasted like bacon bits you buy as a salad topper. The service was lackluster. We had to hunt our waiter down most of the time. It took forever to get our drinks which turned out to be a warm can of soda. I was in Houston for a birthday trip with some girl friends and I am so glad we stopped here! We were looking for a nice place to get dinner and stumbled here. It was beautifully decorated and delicious. The server was amazing and great with recommendations. We started with drinks but were indecisive so we gave the base of drink and that we wanted fruity and we each got our own unique drink. The main plates were incredible. I ordered the bistro steak, the mushroom sauce was so good, the steak was cooked perfectly, the green beans were crunchy and delicious and the mashed potatoes were perfectly creamy and buttery. My friends got the ribeye and pork chops and those were also great. The Brussels sprout and broccolini that came with their dishes was also prepared perfectly. Stopped in after leaving the astros game early. Was pretty dead which made sense for a Sunday at 2:30pm. Service was a bit slow but we enjoyed ourselves and the quiet ambiance nonetheless. Espresso martini was fairly basic. Boyfriend got a Guinness but they had to change the keg so it took a while. Once we got it, it was pretty sour. We all tried it including the staff and agreed it was off. Our waiter brought us a free drink, the pear of aces, which none of us would have ordered but it was quite delightful. Then got another free espresso martini due to a mix up - we'll take it! Food wise we had the Tuscan chicken pasta, the chicken Milanese and the filet mignon. Pasta was good, both hardy and light, hit the spot! Milanese was delicious and perfectly cooked. Filet didn't seem like a filet cut but was ok. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff was friendly, just a little slow. Food was surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant. Free drinks made a big difference. We appreciate any place that brings drinks to make up for shortcomings. Wouldn't commute into downtown for it but if in downtown and want a warm comforting meal, relaxed atmosphere and aren't in a rush would recommend stopping in. hearsay is quite a classy place to be located so close to a children's park. after a day of playing at the park, i stumbled into hearsay in desperate need of a ceasar salad & lemon drop. naturally, i was under dressed because i just left the park.. but who cares.. the money spent was still green. i do feel that my casual aesthetic encouraged waitstaff to take their time despite the restaurant not being busy. it took over 15 mins to get water... which was unnecessary. once we got past watergate, the server was kind. the lemon drop was decent, a bit sour for my liking... but the glass was gorgeous. the salad was great it just wasn't very "ceasary ". personally, it was a one off for me and i don't feel inclined to return, unless i find myself desperate at the park. however, i do think it's worth a try if you are directly in the vicinity.. but its unnecessary to make a trip for. all in all, its solid. bonne appètit read more

Came here with my lovely friend before the Usher concert - Past, Present & Future 11/27. It's walking distance to Toyota Center. Hearsay has many locations around town. I have been to one before. We wanted to catch happy hour before it ended at 6p, and we did. Place was not crowded when we got there at 5:30p, we were easily sat at the bar. But by the time we left it was packed with Usher fans waiting for the concert, grabbing a bite. I guess they had the same idea we had. Drinks- I had a beer on HH for $5, and then the Pink Delicious. It was tasty I would order this again. I liked that it was well balanced, had some body to it and not too sweet. It was $10 on HH, regular price $12. Food - we decided to snack up before the show, and had the parmesan fries. The servers were busy at the bar, but we were able to order, and eventually check out fairly easily. read more

We went for a New Years Eve dinner and they had a specific menu for the night, 4 courses. The food was all very good, our server was very nice and attentive for the most part and the restaurant was festively decorated for the holidays. We parked in the parking garage next door however we were expecting valet since it's downtown but only saw hotel overnight valet and nothing else for the restaurant. Not a big deal, but convenience of valet would have been nice. Our table we sat at was right at the door, there were others available but they said they were full (we had reservations as well), so thought nothing of it, this was table we got but we were there two hours and the other tables stayed available the whole time. Not usually picky on table or seating, but being right at the door and no waiting area for guests coming in, when a large group arrived they may as well been sitting with us because they have no where to go but to stand around the first two tables at the door. The fries were my favorite, they were well-seasoned and crispy! The burger was also good and every ingredient blended together well! Our server was incredibly kind and accommodating, making sure that we got everything we needed and removing off certain parts of the burgers that me and my friends did not like. My only concern with this place is that some of the utensils and plates had some leftover residue on it that weren't completely washed off, which scared me a bit but I just tried wiping it off myself with a napkin. I loved the ambience of the space, exposed brick walls and dark wood tones. The bar area was a beautiful, long wooden bar that was packed with people. A bit small but our large group was towards the back in a private area. Food-wise, we tried an assortment of items off of the appetizer menu. The cheeseburger sliders were my absolute favorite. I would gladly eat a full scale version of that slider, so good. I was very enticed by their old-fashioned mixer set up at the bar. I sat watched the liquor slowly drip and saturate itself through this interesting contraption. Interested, I ordered one to try it out and honestly, I wasn't that impressed. It seemed a little watered down so I decided to get another one to see if that would be any different. Still lacking complexity of flavor as I have had with other OFs. Oh well, I saw other great reviews on their drinks so maybe just not my night. Always a shot for next time. Decided to treat myself to lunch and visited the new spot at Levy Park. I loved how lighted it was with all the windows. The speakeasy feel was kinda neat. Service was just ok. I was a little let down when I asked about the food choices I didn't get much of a response. Same for the drinks I was just immediately offered the girly choices of drinks. The food was good. For me a bit of salty but I don't use much salt more of a spices girl. Over all it was a quiet place in the afternoons to go hang out read a book or catch up on some remote work. read more
