Good for breakfast The food and the service was good. We decided to give Tony's Kitchen a try since we frequent many restaurants in Bixby Knolls. They are new to this neighborhood which can be difficult to make a breakthrough amongst the successful businesses here. The owner was very sweet & made sure we were well attended & our coffee was filled frequently. My husband ordered the Chicken Chile Verde & I ordered Chilaquiles (red&green/divorciados). The palette is more traditional & homemade as opposed to trendy & branded and the prices are fair. If you're looking for clean, casual, comfortable & good, you will like it here. They may be a little under rated right now. We'll be back to try their lunch or dinner. read more

We visited Tony's kitchen with a party of 9 without reservations and the whole party was amazed with the food and service . I personally had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it was perfectly prepared and flavorful. The food and drinks came out quickly and little food was left as everyone enjoyed the taste and quality of the dishes . Had a wet burrito and fettuccine pasta with chicken. The chicken was hard, overcooked little chicken cubes of unknown origin: too chewy to be breast, too hard to be thigh. Sauce was creamy and pasta was reasonably cooked (not mush, not too hard). It came with an absolute joke of a slice of garlic bread...like someone cut one tiny round from a baguette flavor was good but tiny! The wet asada burrito was decent size, but I found the sauces (tried both red and green) to be very plain and nondescript. The filling likewise; the asada was pretty bland. Nothing that makes me want to eat more and more. Given how many Mexican food places (and diner-type places) there are in Long Beach, this doesn't make me want to try it again, many other options abound. Inside the place was spacious and quiet, and service was friendly. I had some expectations from the reviews about the quality of the food and was a bit disappointed. read more

Great spot, thanks Yelpers! The mans and I were doing some thrifting in LB and needed a bite and we settled upon this spot and I'm so glad we did. It was the perfect vibe for us. Not crowded and the music wasn't too loud so you can actually hear your date. My boyfriend got the lasagna and it was delicious! I will order this next time. When I think of lasagne I want it to taste like this. And at $16, if also comes with a generous side salad and a side of garlic bread. I got the chicken Marsala ($20) and it came with a generous portion of chicken, sauce, homemade mashed potatoes and the most wonderfully sautéed asparagus. Yum! We will come back here for sure. We had such a lovely meal, we even decided to try the peach cobbler for dessert ($10). It was a big portion that came a la mode. We left happy and full and even had some leftovers. Went there on a whim. Parked across the street on a Saturday morning. I actually was thinking of take out, but when I got there, it was so great in there, we stayed! The decor was warm and inviting. Small business at its best! I really was craving a breakfast burrito, which I normally never order to eat in, but they didn't disappoint, it was delicious. My husband ordered a Denver omelette which was delicious. The bell pepper was not overdone. It was bright green! That's hard to do, not overcooking. Tastes of everything was on point. It's completely the opposite case with Tony's Kitchen. We finished each a sandwich and are maxed out for feeling full. The fries were extra crisp and thick cut along with a refreshing coleslaw that is light. The meatball sandwich is easily able to be cut into four and feed four children! They are generous here!!! What a hidden gem! Needed something quick for lunch today and decided to give this place a try. Expectations were far exceeded. I wasn't sure about the variety of the menu at first and thought it could impact the quality but don't be alarmed, the food (what we had at least) was fresh, flavorful and hit the spot! Food: A+, I got the Mahi Mahi Wrap and would easily order this again. Portions are generous and I was satisfied w/ just half the wrap. The ingredients were fresh and healthy and the blackened Mahi was *chefs kiss*. Probably one of the best Mahi Mahi burritos I've had where you can taste the char but it's not dried out and still juicy & tender. The avocado and yellow rice was a perfect compliment. Did I mention it comes with a side? I opted for fruit and they give you a whole container for takeout! My fiancé got the Shrimp Burrito & really enjoyed that as well. It's unassuming & for some the decor may seem gaudy, especially compared to the more modern Tavern and Lola's next door but tbh I think it's quaint and homey. It's more casual & gives off a different vibe compared to some nearby restaurants, which I appreciate, and the space is clean and inviting. They have some outside seating as well. Would like to dine-in when I have some more time during my lunch. Overall: Loved this discovery as a local resident and encourage anyone to give it a try! This place is a neighborhood gem. Went there for the first time today with a friend for Sunday lunch. Found out about it through an online search. I appreciated that it was not crowded and we were able to be seated immediately. Indoor decor is delightful, fun, and colorful. Staff are courteous, attentive, and friendly. The menu offers a good variety for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and at reasonable prices. I try to eat vegetarian as often as possible and found a good selection on the menu. Hubby had lasagna, I tasted it because he said sauce not flavor, so I tasted it too, it was bland, and tasted like tomato sauce from a can, no seasoning, garlic, or basil, just tomato sauce. The lasagna itself was good lots of cheese and meat. I had the chicken marsala, the chicken was about 3 ounces, very dry, no flavor. I ordered noodles instead of the mashed potatoes, the noodles came to me as the penne pasta noodles rather than an actual noodle, the noodles were cooked okay the sauce was tasty, but had too much dry tomatoes in it, I left a pile of it in my plate at the end of my meal although it was tasty it just for $18 did not fit the bill. The garlic bread we both got on our meals was very good it was flavored, and the bread was nice and soft on the inside and cook just right on the outside. My g baby had the shrimp quesadilla she said it was tasty although I don't like shrimp I went by what she said, so that was her opinion the serving look nice it was a huge serving of avocado salsa picadillo and sour cream. I'm kind of unsure about the decorating inside it looks like it was supposed to be an Italian restaurant that just went variety on what they serve, there is even barbecued ribs on the menu, I would also reserve barbecue for an actual barbecue restaurant, not for a place that serves too much of a variety of dishes. We probably won't go back there again but just thought we'd try it. I understand the small restaurants rely on good reviews and pictures, I feel bad that I could not write something extraordinary outside of the blue cheese was delicious on the salad and, like I said the garlic bread was exceptional the lasagna was tasty the sauce was not in review the marsala needs to be revisited by their cook and how it should be prepared, also. read more
