My car broke down just a mile away from this shop. In a panic about getting back on the road asap, I took it to the nearest shop via tow. It was a 160 dollar charge just for them to look at the car. I should have examined under the hood before turning the vehicle over to them, because the timing belt was clearly split in half- my fault I should have been able to figure that one out. What I thought was ridiculous is that they quoted me over 1500 dollars for a new timing belt, seals and water pump. My dealer did the same repair for less than 800. I mentioned the high prices to some friends who live in the area and they told me of similar experiences of high quotes when they took their vehicle to Tony's. Overpriced and lost my trust right away. Was quoted $1,000 for a repair. I found another shop that could repair my car for a FIFTH of what Tony's quoted. When I called back telling them I no longer needed their services, suddenly the price dropped down to $300. As a potential new costumer, I won't be back. Also, they charge $140 per hour for labor which is comparable to dealership pricing. read more

I am stunned that mine is the first review of Tony's Auto Service Center. This is a family-owned business that has served residents in the Arcadia area for decades. They are fabulous. They are competent, honest, and friendly. Their prices are quite fair. I trust them totally. I have always had great experiences there. I am not a car lover. I want my car to run. That is all. Anyone can tell that is easy to take advantage of me,, but Tony's never does. A recent experience showed me how truly terrific they are: The other day, I brought one (very old) car to them that needed a brake job and I told them I thought something else was wrong as well. They did a diagnostic and found multiple problems. I decided it was time to give up the ghost and replace the car in lieu of making the repairs...this was fine with them. My other car had a very minor problem in that it was easily fixed...but it was crucial to me so that I could be comfortable driving. They fixed it in less than a minute...no charge. Wow! What an amazing experience I had today at Tony's. It was my first time going there to service my vehicle, and I know that I will be continuing to go there in the future. I typically feel a bit taken advantage of when I take my car in, and this was the exact opposite. I was wowed by their kindness, service, transparency and professionalism. I dropped my car off on the way to work, and they even had a shuttle service to drop me off at work while they worked on my car. Once my car was finished, they gave me a call and offered to pick me up. They even gave me guidance on making purchases for my vehicle at other establishments. Let me begin by admitting that I have always had bad experiences with mechanics and therefore have become one of those do it yourself types that will use a mechanic shop only when absolutely necessary. Oil change? I can do it. Brake job? Tune up? Thermostat? Bad hoses? No problem. I choose to do what I know how to do even if it means getting filthy with grease and grime and sweat in order to avoid getting burned. So when our Jeep Patriot alternator went bad ( it is positioned in a very difficult place to reach) we had no choice but to take it to a shop. After days of research and estimates we finally found Tony's. Steve got back to us very quickly with the most reasonable price and when we went to pick up the Jeep, the total was less that we were expecting! Steve is a straight shooter and the mechanics got the job done fast! No extra bs. The office is clean and inviting. Great work, great price, great customer service. I finally found my mechanic! So I took my truck in for hose leak from the heater coretwo hoses coming fromk heater core. They told theres no leak the hoses are good. They said they have to take the dash out an check the heater core. So I said ok. Monday came around i called them. they said no word yet. Minutes later they me an said they couldn't find any leak an everything is good. So I got it back at 5:15pm and charge over $300 for tearing up the dash. So I got home lift the hood up looked at the hose myself sure enough it was leaking slowly bubbling. You can even see the hole bright as daylight all. read more

My original review was done too soon. My car continued to leak and was even worse after they worked on it. Then they wanted an additional 900 and some dollars to fix it after I paid 340 already. The owner lady was very rude to me. They were really trying to make money off of me thinking I knew nothing about cars. Wrong! Everyone at Tony's is kind, honest, and pleasant. They are the only shop I take my car to. With frequent coupons, I can usually same some extra money, too. They have never steered me wrong and don't try to tell me I need something when I don't. They have a shuttle so I can wait at my own home instead of at the shop, so it's extra convenient and I don't have to put my day on hold. My car overheated on the corner of 56th Street and East Thomas Road, so I had no choice but to pull into Tony's Auto Service to have my car checked out. It was a Thursday and they told me they couldn't check it out until Monday!!! I took a cab home for $44 and they said it needed a thermostat which I approved. Then after they told me I could come get it and was on a bus to pick it up, they called and said they thought it might also be the radiator and could they have it for another couple days. I picked it up Friday, the bill was $1300.20 and it overheated worse the whole way home!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I called and spoke to the manager, he told me too bad, maybe it's a cracked head. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not willing to do anything to fix the problem or refund the money. Took the car to Midas who is working on it for $29.99. read more

$$$$$ WAAAAAAAAAAY to much money. $170 to diagnose a problem, which they didn't. I had some seals on injectors replaced, which is a fairly easy and not long to do and a brake bleed which made the brakes worse. $600 for a minimal amount of work that did nothing to fix the problem. Brought it back to get the problem I had in the first place solved and it took them 5 minutes to figure it out. Why couldn't they do that in the first place? And to fix the problem was another $600 not including the brakes. So that would of been $1200 to get what I needed fixed. I pretty much walked in there and gave them $600 for no reason. I went to another shop, they charged me $289 to fix the problem. I went to Tony's years ago for some work done and they did fine but they charged A LOT!!! They are very close, if not the same amount as a car dealership. Just know if you go there and even if they do a good job you will spend a lot of money.. $$$$$$$ read more

I am an informed, educated customer who used to work on autos; and I was a crew chief on F-15 Aircraft in the USAF -- so I know what I am talking about in this review. I intend this review to be accurate and reasonable, to help others make an informed decision to NOT take their vehicle to Tony's. On 04/15/15 I picked up my 2009 Range Rover Sport after it had been there 2 days for various repairs. I had never used Tony's in the past. Even though I made a written list of all work I wanted done and gave it to Tony's, they failed to clean the corroded battery terminals (and I had to point this out to them when I picked up the vehicle and had to wait for them to do the work). The mechanics at Tony's cross-threaded the cap onto the power steering fluid reservoir when they put the cap back on. The Range Rover had a pristine white interior when I dropped it off at Tony's. But I got it back with grease, grime and black smudges all over the front driver's seat, door handle, console, dash and even the hood and fenders, etc. I have photos to prove it (even after they supposedly cleaned the cabin after I complained). Next, I thought I would save money going here, versus the Range Rover dealer -- WRONG! Without telling me verbally or in writing when I dropped off the vehicle for service, Tony's added a $60.00 "supplies" fee and a $70.31 "Enviro and Technical Fee." They dropped these charges when I complained. In any event, it is my opinion that Tony's uses these $60.00 and $70.31 charges to price-gouge customers. And as proven by the grease that was left on my seat, console, etc. these guys are true grease-monkeys who do not take special care of customers' vehicles. Stay away from Tony's and take your car to the dealership or somewhere else. Also, when Tony's finally cleaned my battery terminals, they caused all settings in the vehicle to be lost. If took me about 45 minutes to reset everything (memory seat, radio, security and lighting settings, clock, etc). Before they disconnected the battery, Scott at Tony's told me that none of my settings would be lost, because they were supposed to use some sort of memory-saver. But it obviously did not work. read more

This place is bad news!! I took my car there a couple of years ago and they quoted me $1200 to fix the problem. I took my car elsewhere, and got the problem fixed for $300.00. I decided to give them a second chance, and took my daughter's car there last week. They immediately jumped to the conclusion that the fuel pump was bad and charged me $200.00 for a diagnostic test, without pointing out to me that the test was going to cost $200.00. Then they came back with their magic quote of $1000.00 to fix the fuel pump. I took the car to another auto shop who ran all of the diagnostic tests, for NO charge, and told me the fuel pump tested fine. Needless to say, I won't be back to Tony's. Customers beware...DON'T trust these guys!! read more

Took my car to Tony's for an oil change as I wanted to find a reliable mechanic in my new neighborhood. Very good customer service. They provided me with a complete history of my new to me/used car from an online service. However, you are paying for it for their customer service. They replaced my brake light for $28.80. It went out again, not their fault, and I replaced it myself for about $3 in a less than five minutes. They charged $5.25 for the bulb which is fine but the labor, over $20, seemed slightly out of whack. They recommended rear brakes for $388. I had shopped around and had them done at Brake Masters for $278. But, what really bugs me and the reason for this review is they suggested a new cabin air filter for $98.00. I went online, found the filter for less than $6 including shipping and replaced it myself in about 3 minutes. And I realized this cabin air filter is a way to overcharge customers. Valvoline suggests it to garages in a diplomatic way. So, if you like to be treated very nice, Tony's is your place. But, know you are paying for it. read more

I have been a AAA member for a long time. For years I took my vehicles to Marshall Motors that is only 5 blocks from my home. I got so tired of their constant failure to properly diagnose the problems with my cars that constantly broke down in the most inappropriate locations that required towing to that garage to try and fix something that they just couldn't find. Usual remark: We couldn't find anything wrong with your car!" I decided to use our Firestone Service Garage for a couple of years until one day when I needed a tow the driver suggested that I go to TONY'S Auto Service on East Thomas Road. Boy, was that good advice. First, the personnel were so darn friendly, ready to listen to my problem, and knowledgeable enough to voice a possible fix even before they looked at the vehicle. I have taken my vehicles to Tony's three times now and each time I was treated courteously and my vehicles repaired the same day, paying for only what needed replacement on the car. I was immediately given a "New Customer" discount with a constant flow of discount coupons in the mail, "Discount on your next visit card" which have been applied to my bill without even mentioning it to them. (Something I never received from the "award winning" Marshall Motors, even after years of patronage.) The other day I called Tony's for an appointment to have my car towed in because it wouldn't start. I was asked to describe the problem, and over the phone I was given the solution. I called AAA Battery Service (who arrived within the hour, great service) and installed a new battery and my problems were over. Thanks to the friendly advice from Tony's my day was saved I only paid for the cost of a new battery. Every mechanic at Tony's is great and I like the fact that they take pride in keeping my old pride and joy '95 Buick in tip top shape that seems to run better than my new Honda. I would recommend Tony's Auto Service Center on East Thomas Road to everyone who wants their car repaired right the first time by guys who really take pride in their work. read more

Go elsewhere! I needed my trucks steering wheel tilt bearing replaced, so i gave tonys a call and they wanted to charge me $800!!! Its a $20 part, if that!!! Then i found a guy who does steering columns on craigslist, he did it for 80$ in less then 30min! No wonder they are still in business, they get suckers who will pay anything and they take advantage of it!!!!! I would give 0/5 stars if i could!!! read more

Tony's was finally able to make an accurate diagnosis and repair. Tony's has done major repairs on my 2005 vehicle along with regular maintenance, keeping me safe on the road and postponing a dreaded car payment for hopefully many more years! Finding an honest mechanic especially as a woman is extremely hard. Shops will tell you that you need things that you really don't need, charge you a lot while using cheapy parts, along with the common straight up lying to your face crap. Tonys you can trust...Scott is awesome, they would never suggest stuff you don't need. Plus they have shuttle to take you back home and bring you back....They have integrity, and only have employees with that same integrity. That is something rare.
