I just left this spot. I called in an order for their chicken and waffles with a side of grits. Upon arriving, I realized that this place was as small as others have noted. It's tiny, but clean. There were two employees behind the counter both were super nice and got my order with no delay (after the group of drunk girls in front of me finishing heeing & hawing trying to decide what they wanted). I even got some really yummy red velvet cake from behind the glass! (SCORE) Now on to the good stuff... I got my food home and it was still piping hot. I knew from the short drive back to my house that the chicken was going to be great--it smelled too good not to be. The waffles were thick and just a tad bit sweet. They complimented the seasoned chicken perfectly. The waffles came with just a swipe or two of butter, and they didn't jip me on syrup. So far, so good... Except for those grits! Tony is an interesting place. They serve breakfast all day and seems to be a H. St. Secret and popular among the neighbors. Prices are very fair for what is offered. Your not going to get any gourmet food. Just simple food for a cheap price. Ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was fine... nothing spectacular. The waffle tasted like a waffle you get at a motel... they also give you the syrups you'd use for a waffle at a motel. This dish definetly needs some work. The avocado wrap... was simple bacon, cheese and egg wrap. Nothing special their either. Very simple wrap for $5... and seems a little expensive because of the lack of food in the wrap for that price. Horrible, horrible, yuck! Is what my taste buds and stomach are screaming. I ordered the veggie DMV with home fries and a side of French toast. Sounds simple. My French toast should have been called butter toast, or high cholesterol toast. My stomach feels as if I swallowed a gallon of grease. This place clearly doesn't care about health. I'm 100% sure they wouldn't feed this garbage to their own. By all mean indulge If you don't mind high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. My veggie omelette was bland, and far from fresh. I'm sure it was cooked on a grill with residue from several previous orders. The home fries were not fresh and probably were cooked hours in advance and left sitting under a warmer. I'm not sure what the rave reviews are about because this place is not worth 4 stars. I am a huge, huge fan. Great food for great prices. Others have said it, but watch out for the restaurant on the corner of 13th and H that ripped off the name. The legit Tony's is on 13th further back. You can tell it's the real place because there always a ton of people going in and out. It gets packed, so don't dawdle! Breakfast is without a doubt the best meal of the day. So imagine my surprise when my friend told me that this little place that serves breakfast all day was just down the street from me. I took a look at the menu and they literally have over 10 different breakfast meat options. This place always seems to be busy (in a good way). I have only eaten the chicken wings from this place and I haven't been disappointed. There is nothing special about them to me. Just your basic deep fried whole chicken wing. They have a deal where you can get 10 wings for $12. My boyfriend loves this place so we stop in here from time to time and share an order of 10 chicken wings. We dined in the last time we were there on a Saturday afternoon in March and I was able to see some of the other food they offer. The other food looked pretty good. I will definitely try some of the other menu items when we go back. read more

After reading several awesome reviews, I went here for the first time today and it lives up to the hype. Small, hole in the wall, that delivers good food fast. I was only there for maybe 10 minutes and I has ordered, got my food and was out the door. I got the fat boy, and it was delicious! Huge fluffy pancakes, amazing eggs, and their home style fries, which are more like hashbrown casserole, were to die for. I expected small portions, but everything was huge. Tried this place out for the first time a few weeks ago and I'm glad I did! It was crowded for a small grab and go breakfast spot but I considered that a good thing and I actually didn't have to wait in line for long. I ordered the chicken & waffles with cheese eggs on the side. I think we waited less than 10 minutes to get the food. But Tony's Breakfast is a thing of beauty. Basically it is a locally owned diner (without all the seating) with super cheap prices and tons of food. I would definitely say for those soul food lovers, grab the Welcome to H Street, which is Chicken and Waffles. Craziest part is that its like $7 for a ton of food. Their fish nuggets are actually awesome. I personally like the whiting because it was crispier, but the tilapia is much meatier. If you are going to get some fries on the side, I would get the potato wedges because they're homemade. Definitely try out their subs and sandwiches as well. When you first walk in you may be intimidated by the small size of the place and the long line, but don't worry, 99% of people order to go and the service is pretty fast. I came here on a cold morning and ordered the Big Boy Breakfast box which has sausage, two eggs, bacon, pancakes, and some really delicious homefries. The best part about this was that the food was delicious, I paid under $10, and I was completely stuffed till dinner time. However, there was nothing special. Ordinary fried chicken and an ordinary waffle. A little disappointing that it wasn't more noteworthy. The avocado wrap was also tasty, but I could have made the same thing at home. I was hoping for something a bit more unique. Visiting DC for the weekend and was looking for a Sunday breakfast option before hitting the road. Fired up Yelp because I wanted an option different from the usual suspects and Tony's Breakfast came up. With four and half stars, I went in there expecting breakfast nirvana. What I received was an incredibly valuable yet somewhat uncomfortable breakfast experience. I mean the amount and relative quality of the food you receive for the price you pay is impressive - I suspect that's the source of such high ratings. But Yelp reviews should also be rated on quality and while the food isn't bad by any measure, it's not four and half star worthy. It's not let's drive/metro across DC to get this food that is four and a half star worthy. I wish it was. It's not. This IS a local neighborhood establishment featuring a decent variety of average grade/average quality food for an incredible price. Bonus points for serving non-pork protein (turkey bacon/turkey sausage). Places that i want to compare this too are Lincoln Grill downtown and Florida Avenue Grill in Shaw/Howard - but those places feature actual down counters and/or tables with actual dishes and flatware. Tony's Breakfast is primarily a carryout establishment. If I'm in the area visiting AND I'm okay with eating my food in my rental car or taking it back to my hotel room/friend's apartment to re-heat and fix to my liking (real syrup, real butter, real cheese because Tony's does't cook or provide with those), then I'm down to swing by Tony's to make it happen. Otherwise I'll spend a couple of dollars more for better quality food that I can eat in the restaurant. read more

I probably go there once a week for the Breakfast Box: 2 eggs, choice of meat, choice of home fries or grits. It's like $5.
