Since 2010, it had been a marketplace and even a David Barton gym. Then came Grimaldis for a while. For those familiar, Limelight Pizza's location was a former Episcopalian Church. To date, the exterior is still the church facade. Reading reviews here, it seems Limelight Pizza's Yelp account includes Grimaldis reviews which is unfortunate since it contributes to the overall rating which is average. Though I never tried Grimaldis Pizza at this location, I can attest that Limelight Pizza was one of the best pies I've had in 2024. Nothing average about it. The space was smallish but quaint. Our server (the only server) was friendly, cordial and extremely nice. We placed an order for a regular Margarita pie and Diet Coke. A regular suits two people with 6 slices. There were options for a personal pie (4 slices) and large (8 slices) and priced accordingly. Our size was $29. In about no time, the pizza arrived to the table looking and smelling delicious. Fresh mozzarella, well balanced sauce and a perfect crust resulted in a wow factor to be added to my list when in the area. This business doesn't serve slices since it is a restaurant with table service. Note--no alcohol on the menu. Really good pizza that I'd recommend. Actually, heavenly.

((3.25 stars)) the…read morepizza is a-okay at Madison Street Pizza imo. obviously that is subjective but not every pizza slice you get in NYC is going to be the greatest or worst. to me, it's very much in the middle--this would not be my go-to spot or a place to avoid. it's very much a neighborhood pizza place in the Two Bridges area on a quiet stretch of Madison Street. the walkdown pizzeria is in a small place below street level with a few seats squeezed into the space. the place is clean but has that worn-in coziness. the counter has a variety of pizza pies and slices on display. ordered a plain cheese slice to go. the ladies who worked there were very nice, quickly heated up my slice, and served up a hot out of the oven pizza slice on a paper plate. there's plenty of mozzarella cheese and sauce on the plain slice and had a fairly crispy bottom. however the slice really didn't come together for me--the flavor of the sauce was a bit too sweet and a bit tomato soup-y as there was too much of it on the slice in my opinion, the cheese was nice and melty, and the crust's bottom was crispy but the slice's crust was a bit thicker than a usual NYC slice and had a bit more readiness and chew to it. overall, the slice was fine as a quick bite. the style of the slice probably is more attuned to what the neighborhood wants than my preference in pizza. would i have a slice here if i were in the neighborhood? probably, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it. pizza preference is ultimately subjective and this place has its fans in this locale...so i ain't gunna hate. ha. also the prices here are not high for a single slice...they are reasonable. service was friendly. when it comes to pizza--to each, his or her own!

I placed a to-go order and the employee outright threw the bagged slices onto the counter without any word or care. When I asked if it was my order, the employee didn't respond. I tried asking again and instead of saying anything, he made a shooing gesture towards to the bag as if I was unwelcome or a dog. He also refused to provide napkins. The entire interaction was dismissive and unnecessarily rude. There was also an issue with the charge with this same employee. I asked him and he stated paying cash would waive a 3% service fee, but when paying I noticed the price was the same as when I was going to pay with card. I asked to clarify and this employee straight up basically admitted he lied and said the price was same cash or card. I don't mind paying the price for the product, but I do mind being told one thing and then being lied to and deceived. 3% is not a big deal, but lying to every customer who pays cash? And also not caring about company policy and keeping integrity? The issue wasn't simply that the service was unfriendly, but likely treating all customers like this without the restaurant knowing. I live in NYC and know what normal customer service looks like, and I have honestly never experienced this kind of treatment before. I expected better from a business inside Essex Market. I would hope that Unregular Pizza would care about making sure its service represents the quality and reputation of its brand. The pizza is great and delicious, actually. But based on my experience, expect the service to be rude and the policies to be explained in a way that may leave you feeling deceived. It's a shame this employee made the experience unforgettable, and not in a good way. Hope management takes care to improve their service quality.

It was very empty when I was there. I got the 2 plain slices very fast after the owner heated the pizza. He was very nice with my order. I grabbed the can of Coca Cola from the fridge without a problem. The cheese slices were kind of a bit small and dry probably from warming them up. They were still good though. Pretty reddish and easy to chew. The cheese did not slide off the slice at all so that was nice! I'm going to choose other slices next time I'm there.

The owner is very friendly and runs the Instagram page himself. Our last visit my friends and I were featured on the Instagram! Crust was light, airy, and chewy, and tomato sauce was fresh and flavorful.
