I'm saddened that I have to leave this type of review but I've had enough from this particular location. The service has negatively decreased and the food has steadily declined over the last year. Not to mention for the prices customers are paying it truly isn't worth it anymore. I've given chance after chance and I know I probably won't make a difference for them losing my business but that's okay. But yesterday I drew the final line. I watched a family get their order of pizza and sides. They stated they didn't get an order of wings and kept repeatedly asking because they were short an order. Long story short they were calm until the end. They finished their meal never getting the order and when they asked the servers one said that the cook said he gave them the right amount and basically the servers weren't budging. What disappointed me was the server sent the "manager" over to, I'm guessing, settle the issue. The "manager" asked questions about how many wings they received and which type of basket they came in which honestly was like ok you either give them a new order or refund the order that wasn't received it's that simple. She kept asking questions and walked away. At this point the people were upset and had enough. This isn't the worst part, when the "manager" came back she had the wrong body language and said the cook gave the right amount and the customer said "never mind never mind just forget it" and the "manager" rolled her eyes and replied with an attitude and I have to mention she was wearing a mask so I couldn't see her face but her whole body language was that of an aggressive person. She rolled her eyes at the customer and walked away and when the family member of the customer stated not to roll her eyes the "manager" turned back and said "excuse me" and she walked back up to the family member like she straight up wanted to fight her. For this woman being the "manager" that was ghetto and unprofessional. She then continued to get into the customer's face being disrespectful and acting like she wanted to fight the family member. I understand that as workers we all come across difficult customers, which these people weren't really being difficult, but for a "manager" to step up to a customer like she wanted to fight them is so unprofessional and honestly distasteful but seems to match how this place has been running. Just because you disagree with the customer doesn't call for violence, what is that woman going to do try to get into every customers face and try to fight every customer she disagrees with. What's interesting is there was a man who seemed to be the manager, he was calling shots and apologizing to other customers for late orders. It looked like he must've sent this girl over to deal with the problem which is why I've been putting "manager" instead of manager. If she really was the manger that's sad. The other workers saw what happened and gave attitude as the customer and their family walked out. Their overall service was disgusting and rude. I hope this girl gets reprimanded or fired for getting into a customer's face and trying to fight them and not backing away like this was the streets or something. Violence shouldn't be at a family business like this. Tony, you could do better, you could hire better and you need to better your business or you will lose customers and go under at this location. read more

It's been a while since my last review of this place... Happy to report the place is better staffed now but the wait times are still not ideal. The place is pretty big and they are usually full on weekends and evenings. The staff are young adults and they are quite nice and friendly. I also appreciate how good they are with kids. I have a pre-schooler who is pretty chatty and the staff has always been sweet and indulging. The last time I ate in was a Sunday evening and we ordered drinks, jalapeño burger, fish and chips, extra fries, and side salads... we are a family of 4 and shared all this family style. Fries are crinkly and delicious. The salad was a generous portion and so good. The fish and chips looked great but they were not very tasty (the fish lacked flavor and it was not served with tartar sauce). My favorite was the Jalapeño burger with bacon on a brioche buttered bun and what tasted & looked like a house made beef patty. Tony's Firehouse may now also be my go to for burgers. They are definitely my favorite local pizza joint but because of the wait time I usually order my pizza to go and reheat on a stove top skillet at home. read more

Rudest service staff ever! I reserved the banquet room 3 months ahead of time for a retirement party, and I should have known it was a bad sign when every time I called to verified information for my party, Tony's staff didn't remember I had paid a 50 deposit for the banquet room. I was told by the manager that I could set up an hour ahead of time but when I arrived another manager had no clue and was very annoyed about me being there. The room was dirty, and we had to clean the tables ourselves so we could decorate because they were understaffed and not available to help. Once our party started a server never bothered to check on us and we were given attitude when we had to track someone down for something like food and drinks for our party. About 30 minutes before our reservation was over we were told we had to move to half of our reserved space so they could serve other parties (although the restaurant was half empty) and we did. Exactly when our reservation ended finally a staff member named Tess showed up and literally interrupted my conversation with one of my guests to tells the group we had to leave. I asked why our party had to leave since we had an open bar tap, the restaurant was half empty, and was still open for hours. Tess gave me complete attitude and told me I could talk to the owner. In the end Tony never came to talk to us and we paid the rudest and laziest serving staff 500 dollars for two hours of their time (kind of), 6 pizzas, two salads, and drinks. read more

Just came out of Mother's Day Sunday brunch. The prime rib was very good. I like meaty prime rib and it was soft and juicy. The salads were fresh and tasty and there was a variety. The pizza was yummy and the breakfast items were pretty good. I didnt care for the salmon or bbq chicken. The desserts I tried were yummy. There was lots to choose from for $25. On another visit I tried the grilled chicken salad it came with boiled egg, tomato, olives, blue cheese on top of salad. It was a packed and yummy salad. I like the food and the prices are reasonable and the staff attentive. I will be back when I'm in Bakersfield. read more

Came today for the first time in 2018 to celebrate the confirmations of my cousin, soon-to-be-cousin-in-law and her sister. The restaurant was perfect because it had a private party room just off the kitchen. We have dined there about 10 times since they opened just over a year ago. The pizza did not disappoint as usual, the kids loved the game room (as always), and the atmosphere was lively. The place has all the potential of being a 4-Star business, however, they kept the private room pretty cold and I thought the AC was on though it was 48 degrees outside. Also, they were understaffed for the party of our size (roughly 60 people). Finally, the bartender would not serve my 43 year-old ain't who forgot her ID. Her 23 and 16 year-old children were even there to vouch for her, but the bartender would not take their word for it. Overall this was a good visit. read more

Always a family favorite since we live so close. It's tough to pay the higher prices. We just go less often. Our favorites are the Tony's combination pizza, chicken fettuccine, club, turkey melt (ask for American instead of swiss and sliced tomatoes in the sandwich), and cheesecake. Firstly, they were out of decaf coffee..what!?. We ordered the Bakersfield omelette. It was okay but the sausage was pizza sausage & it was grisly & tiny pieces of bacon, not very satisfying. The toast was large but cold so the MARGARINE wouldn't melt. Oh and btw, no substitutions so forget a pancake and a pancake is $8.99??. If I could give this place no stars..I would. I walked in with about 6 adults and 10 kids around 10:40am on a Saturday.. we just finished a baseball game to be ignored for 5 min. My husband finally walked over to speak with someone and she told him we cannot serve you because they didn't have enough staff..I saw two cooks and 3 waitresses and a baseball team that that was accommodated. Glad King Leo's is back. Tony's Owner's policy is to separate the dining areas into two: one has only pizza and wings and the other is the grill. We spent over $250 in food and they would not allow us to have my daughter eat her spaghetti with the rest of the party on the other side of the partition. My husband sat with our 11 year old while she ate her spaghetti and the rest of our party of 18 ate pizza in the other dining room. We won't be going back. I will be hard-pressed to come back to this facility. I was sitting at a table top next to the bar only person in the area took 10 minutes conservatively to get my first drink I told the bartender that I would be ready to order my to go food when the second beverage was brought. The second beverage was brought and no food order to go taken. I waited another 15 and had to politely ask to place my order. I was ignored again and had to wait another 10 to place order. I asked to speak to the manager who happened to be the bartender serving the drinks and the order taking at the high top tables. I told her that I would be hard-pressed to come here again if this is the way things are and all I got was excuses from her instead of owning up to the shortcomings and going from there. I would definitely say that I was not in any hurry but explaining to her my intention on ordering to go and then totally ignored is extremely poor in my opinion. Disappointed from the beginning! After waiting over a week to get a confirmation for a birthday party request since we'll be coming from out of town. I finally had to call. I Explained the situation that I wanted to get invitations out in a reasonable amount of time and that although we're from Bakersfield we'll be coming from Reno NV. We asked if we could be separated into different tables and just be near each other and were told that because we had already said we were together they couldn't seat us. I really want to like this place, ever since I learned a new restaurant was opening in the old Anita's building I got really excited because there is a shortage of sit down restaurants on the east side of town. It was really busy, way busier than any time the old restaurant was there I think mostly because Tony's Pizza has become well known in the past decade around town. There is plenty of space to park, more than would ever be needed to fill the restaurant. The atmosphere in the restaurant is par for the course with any other pizza place, loud but not so loud that it was a problem. When we got there we noticed there were a few people waiting but plenty of tables open. My party of 2 had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated despite half of the restaurant being empty. I realize that servers want to consolidate diners to make it easier for them but it's just annoying more than anything to have to wait when you see 20 tables open. The waiting staff also seemed to be a little confused, which is normal for a restaurant that has only been open 2 weeks. I would say they were understaffed but they clearly weren't, there must have been 15 (maybe more) employees that were in a complete rat race. Once we got seated everything was much smoother, our waiter was very nice (I didn't catch his name) and while he forgot our appetizer he went ahead and gave it to us free, which was nice of him. The food is where the problems begin again. I got the chicken melt and my friend got the turkey dinner. Half way through my meal I thought it was great, but the other half of my sandwich was a little bit under cooked. It wasn't raw but it was unusually firm and definitely had a different texture than the other half of the chicken melt. Which was a shame because I was really enjoying my meal up to that point. My friend said his turkey dinner was too salty but other than that was alright. The saving grace of this meal was our appetizer, pizza sticks. We got them late but they were worth it, I don't think I've ever had a cheesestick so good in my life. The ranch also compliments them well, I would definitely come back just for them. I've had Tony's Pizza before so I know it's pretty good but I cannot really recommend this place until they find their groove. My word of advice if you go here: stick to the pizza. My best advice I can give to the restaurant is to shorten the menu and stick to your best items. They have the pizza part down pat so they will always have that to fall back on. I will eventually try this place again and I will provide an updated review because I realize the first few weeks of a restaurants existence is probably not going to be their best. Absolutely great grill food. We had never been here before, and we were not disappointed! I had the California Chicken Club, and my husband had the Pastrami Sandwich, both with Onion Rings. The sandwiches were both amazing, and the Onion Rings were PERFECTION! The sandwiches were fresh and cooked just right, and the portions were very generous . After months of therapy he can finally walk some with a walker and a couple people to catch him if he stumbles. First timer here at this location of Tony's Pizza. I came in with a small group after a long hike. We were all famished and needed to remedy our low blood sugar with some delicious eats. We decided we'd all order something different and share. What our table ordered was as follows: Pepperoni Pizza, Baked Potato Skins, Chile Verde Nachos and Spinach and Artichoke Dip. If phone would have had more life, I would have taken pictures of the food as it arrived, in true Yelp fashion. You'll have to please forgive me and take my words for what they are worth until my next visit. Every single bite of every thing we all ordered was delicious. The pizza was not overly greasy and was a picture of pizza perfection (as far as pepperoni goes). The chile verde on the nachos was seasoned nicely and tasted on point. I had a half a mind to eat all of the meat off of the nachos, but I behaved myself - the rest of the toppings were tasty as well. I think I was the biggest fan of the Spinach Artichoke dip. The chips appeared to be homemade, which I was a fan of. They were light enough to not weigh the dip down but were sturdy enough to be a good vehicle. I went ahead and put some on my baked potato skin and it was double delish. The skins were very good also.. no burnt skins or staleness as sometimes can be the case with these things. Based on the quality of what we ordered, (and a picture of their pot pie soup) I look forward to returning here soon! Although I've seen many restaurants at this location open and close without much fanfare, I hope the same doesn't go for Tony's. They seem to have what it takes. Okay, this is hard to figger out. We ate a midday meal here a while back and it was a solid 3 star visit (wait time, taste, service, noise, value, quality, etc). But we just finished breakfast here and wow, what difference. Prompt polite service. Huge portions. Good taste. Quiet. I would like to leave two reviews, one for a great breakfast joint and another for the Meh joint. But since I cant, I am forced to leave my rating as is but with the caveat that the breakfast rocks and I would not hesitate to recommend this joint to friends FOR BREAKFAST only. Be prepared to pay with your card in advance if your order is more than 50$. They cannot hear over the phone because the restaurant is to loud they said, so I had the same problem with them in the past. Know the owners and they really good people but the staff does not do good over the phone. I miss the California location, went there with my family all the time. Got to go else where. read more
