I asked for 3 slices and a coke and this is what I get charged. 3 slices 1 coke charged me $17.73, come on now let's make sense I get that the pizzas are big in size, but there's nothing special about the way it was made. The cheese was very little, the pizza itself where to thin to the point it will fold in half when you try to hold it. The place was clean, it looked very clean inside and well organized. This review is overdue. I used Uber Eats for dinner on Tuesday, 03-21-23. Used a voucher where the order had to be at least $25. I had plenty for dinner and lunch the following day. I ordered a cheese pizza slice, Italian sausage, steak sub, and a side chef salad. All of the hot food was hot upon delivery. Each serving was filling, even the side chef salad. I ordered takeout from Tony's on my very first visit and my experience was excellent. I was greeted immediately upon entering. As I took in all of the menu items and considered what to order, I noticed a genuine exchange between employees and customers as they were leaving. One customer gave them a compliment, saying that he was from New York and as far as pizza goes, they were able to compete with what he was used to from there. Wow. What brought me in was a craving for garlic knots so I decided to get the garlic cheese bread. And despite feeling drawn toward a pizza at first, I settled on an eggplant parm sub since the employee taking my order claimed that it was very good. He seemed trustworthy. At the last minute, I threw in a cannoli because it's my boyfriend's favorite dessert. I don't have too many thoughts on the restaurant environment itself aside from there being a large dining room with plenty of tables. Nothing fancy but... You don't need fancy when the food is this good! The eggplant parm sub was excellent and I am very picky about my eggplant parm. It wasn't overly breaded or fried. This will be without a doubt my go-to spot for this sandwich. I decided to order the large and I'm glad I did. Half was enough for one meal and I happily embrace leftovers. I just made my second trip to Charlotte in a month and I just made my third trip to Tony's pizza in a month. I am absolutely hooked on their cheesesteaks. They are huge - the hubby and I can barely finish one. Juicy, tender chopped steak, gooey provolone and lots of grilled peppers, onions and mushrooms stuffed into a super fresh sub roll. It is as good as some that I've had in Philly. Really. Our third visit was for pizza. The XL authentic NY pie was too big to fit on our kitchen table. Once again - really. I thought the sauce had a little too much oregano but I'm the only one who didn't love it. Four famished family members couldn't finish this filling food (felt a little like Dr Seuss there for a sec!). My son is moving from Charlotte next month. The guys/girls that work here always friendly and classy. Treat like family. Always honest and friendly. I just had an insane experience and decided to review. Came in and ordered a pizza. Paid for the pizza and then looked at my receipt and thought, "that price seems really high." So, I look again at the menu and indeed, it was over $11 more than the menu. I asked and was told that I had ordered two pizzas. I said I had not, and that I had only wanted one pizza. Indeed, the receipt wasn't itemized, otherwise I would have seen that immediately. Here's where it gets strange: The staff member proceeded to berate me (there were only two other customers in the store) and say that it was clearly my fault. I was surprised by the answer. I explained that I had only ordered one pizza and requested a refund. Then, he opened the register and gave me $8 and some change. When I explained that it wasn't even the value of the second pizza, I asked for a refund on the card. He said it wasn't possible. It was. After being treated this way, I decided to ask for a full refund and leave without getting anything. I like Tony's pizza. I've been here MANY times during the pandemic - and even purchased pizzas at the other location. I passed multiple pizza shops on the way to go to Tony's. Today was something different....I don't know if this was extraordinary treatment by an employee that really missed the mark or something worse. But after today, I'm not sure if I'll go back. Perfectly good pizza by the slice. Nothing fancy here, but it's nice to be able to go in and grab 3 slices for 3 different taste palettes. We enjoyed it and will be back. With that said, the tables were kind of dirty but only 2 of the 15/20 tables were taken. Other people's orders also seemed to be coming out incorrect a lot. At least 4 people while we were there had to return to the counter because of incorrect order. I went to Tony's for lunch with my coworkers. When we walked in it smelled like straight bleach. ( At least we know they clean). It is a pretty chill atmosphere. One where you seat yourself, and go to the register counter to eat. The customer service was ok, not the best. I've been to Tony's pizza before and have had a great experience so maybe this guy was having a bad day. They have lunch specials. I got a slice of pizza, side salad and drink. Their pies are simply scrumptious! Good sauce great crust & they will easily work with you if you want to make substitutions. I've had their pies at friends homes a couple of times before. My 1st time to pick up myself. Dining room is clean marked well for distancing and people were nice except no one behind the. counter had a mask on. There was plexiglass between patrons and the kitchen. But not one of the pizza makers had one on. If the WuFlu weren't an issue their wearing one wouldn't be either.
