Burgers are hand made and awesome. The chicken wings are spot on and they have great people working there. Best place on the delta so far.

Went here yesterday on a Sunday with a couple family members. I'm all for having fun but there were some people across from us in the dining area that were super loud. It was ridiculous. We didn't say anything but wish the waitress would have sad something it was that bad. Thank goodness they left after we'd been there a little while. Took to long for our food and there was only one other table occupied. The food must have been waiting for the waitress because the fries were soggy and cold. Me and my niece had fries and really could not eat them. The waitress was really spaced out as well. Maybe hungover or??? I'm sorry for the not so good review. I did leave a decent tip because I know it's not easy. read more

Stopped in today. We didn't realize how late we were running for an event so we had to slurp down our cocktails and have our food put in to-go containers, but the service and bartender were super friendly! We ended up having cheesesteaks, burgers, fries, and onion rings and the food was delicious!!! We're planning to head down from Placerville, where we live, just to have dinner there some night. My husband and I had drinks and dinner last night. We met the bartender who was the greatest. Such a funny personality. My husband talked to her three times during the day asking what the specials were (cook wasn't there yet). When we walked in she said "is that you Joe". We all laughed The appetizer and meal was so good! The Bloody Mary was perfect! The price of the meal was not outrageous. We meet super nice couple at the bar also. Super dive bar. Stopped by here for some drinks on our way back to sac with a friend. Place was dead (it was Saturday afternoon tho, and rainy). The bartender was super friendly and nice. She poured some cold beers and stiff drinks/heavy shots. Place was cheap and I enjoyed my time. A lot of regulars, but I would recommend checking this place out for some good drinks. I want to thank owner Cary Kennedy, chef Shirley and bartender Brittany for a perfect birthday! They went out of their way to create an awesome taco bar for my guests. They surprised us with bean dip appetizers and they were a huge hit. The back patio was perfect and I was allowed to decorate. Tony's Place is a gem of the Delta. I wanted to enjoy this nostalgic dive bar and steak house, but just didn't. We had a larger party of 7 and we called ahead four days earlier to ensure we had a table secured; but it wasn't. The staff fumbled around finding us a table in the corner of the room all while making us feel like it was our fault and we were a bother...even saying something like, this is the only spot we have take it or leave it. We were there and took it, as we all traveled from out of the area. The three ladies sat on a low couch, ask to sit on the cushions to allow us to be a somewhat at the same height as our male family members. We all felt as we were a bother, asking for general ice tea refills, to a glass of wine. Two of the entrees were not what was ordered, only to be told, you can take what we made by mistake and not be charged or wait 15-20 minutes, for the correct entree, but you'll have to pay for it. At this point we took the incorrect items as we would have no idea when the correct entrees would arrive. Three of the four steaks were room temperature and of poor quality. We were not asked about dessert as with other tables. The check was dropped off and we had to flag down someone to take our money. An overall poor experience with less than mediocre food. Needless to say we will not be back. Sad, as we all enjoy going to out to smaller establishments. read more

We decided to explore the beautiful Delta, less than an hour south of us here in Sacramento, on a summer weekday and after driving around discovered this historic tavern off the main road in quiet little Walnut Grove. Very old-school, this tavern caters to the locals and folks make the drive from Elk Grove and thereabouts on a daily basis to escape urban life and to nurse a pint. We missed the daily lunch hour which ends at 2pm but still enjoyed ourselves. Kronenbourg blanc for me and Stella for my guy, both on tap, served up frosty hit the spot. Carey, the owner was knowledgeable and friendly as were the other patrons. The décor is unique (as most historic taverns are), with an adjoining room with couch, big screen TV and dining area. Lots of postings on events and other local businesses in the area. A fun, interesting place to stop when in Walnut Grove. We will definitely be back, earlier this time for lunch!! Cheers!! read more

As far as a bar goes for nightlife it is a bit of a older crowd... honestly it's a pretty chill environment probably why I like it so much. Just not the music that people pick... LOL. Fantastic. We loved the food and had a great time at Tony's. After over 10 years we returned and were surprised and extremely pleased with the quality of dishes and delightful service. My wife, our friend and I came here on one of our adventure days to check out places along the river road (160). As we parked we met a boisterous bar tender about to start his shift and when we walked in we found an amazingly friendly group of locals and attentive staff. The couch/tv area in the dining side made for a really relaxed spot to hang and we stayed for a couple hours eating and drinking. I had the house salad with their red vinaigrette dressing that was super yummy and then the steak sandwich which came loaded with a juicy slab of meat, yummy piles of mushrooms and onions on top. Great place and will definitely come back the next time we're traveling along the river road. read more

Super-Nice Server, Pretty Good Food We were the only ones in the restaurant at 8:15pm on a Sunday night. A few patrons sat at the bar that you have to pass through to get to the dining room. Friendly, Welcoming, BAR AND RESTAURANT.... Feb 25, 2021--- 5pm. Walked in with my friend and Aussie Shepard, needing a cold drink and food after a two hour bridge closure that kept me confined to the car waiting to cross the river. I had never been to Tony's and was pleasantly surprised by the great attitudes and welcome from the patrons, staff, and owner. Everyone at the bar smiled and welcome us. Great walk in . Then the food service was excellent ( we sat safely outside with our masks on until we ate), and the waitress Chelsie told us about the portugese beans that has been the restaurants favourite passed on from the former owner. She brought us a sample. YUMMMMMY but more like a soup to me. That was fine. Then both my friend and I ate the steak sandwich which was excellent and cooked perfectly to our differing tastes for rare and medium rare. Side dishes big and delicious. We had salads and onion rings and french fries. Each dish perfect. And, we also had drinks from the bar which were not weak but ample to strong and just what we needed after a long delta day. News on the street is menu will start on weekends with a more formal dinner ( the menu now primarily burgers and sandwiches), but in the near future dinner and deserts will be served on the weekends. We plan to make this a stop on our 'SUNDAY DRIVES" into the DELTA in the summer. Take a chance .. stop by... Wow, what a find! Went last night with a large party of eleven. Can't rave enough about the steaks!! Who knew a small town like Walnut Grove could offer Prime Grade beef? Something not often found even in SF. "Cary" was the most engaging host sharing stories about the restaurant and himself. Desserts were as 5 star as the main course. Wish we lived closer... On a road trip through the Delta this weekend we stopped off in Walnut Grove and found ourselves pushing through the heavy wooden doors of Tony's because the "Tony's Cocktails" neon sign enticed us from the highway. Wish we could have seen it by night. I love neon! Mid-day on a Saturday, the bar was very nearly full of happily drinking patrons. One particularly noteworthy blond woman held court near the ATM (Tony's is cash only), talking loudly and flamboyantly. She later heckled the bartendress and spoke loudly in Spanish. GT and I were transfixed by the spectacle of blond-woman. We were also the youngest folks in the place. I liked this. Tony's boasts a few TVs above the bar, and an amiable bartendress. The day we visited was Tony's birthday - the place had balloons everywhere and the cook was fixing some mexican food for the evening party. The fireplace in the dining room was already burning - with an inviting couch - it looked like a nice place to spend an evening whiling away the hours till delta dawn. Speaking of night time, the dim yellow bulbs illuminating the rows of alcoholic liquids made us wish we could see Tony's by night - no overly-bright fluorescent crap lighting could be detected. Good solid spicy bloody mary, decent selection of booze. An eclectic assortment of placards from similar dive-bar establishments across the western U.S. decorated the area above the bar. We recognized a few spots and took notes on a few others, wondering how many of the lot have gone under. One of the local gentlemen left the bar only to be shouted back inside by the bartendress: "Hey, John, do you want to sign your slip?" He came back inside. "I would have signed it for you," she said and winked at him. It's nice to flee a gorgeous spring day and enter the darker drinking hole that is Tony's - if only for a moment. I highly recommend this as a stop on any road trip through the Delta. read more

The steaks are amazing and the drinks are strong. Great quality ingredients and passion into every plate. Tony's looks like a great local-style bar. You could almost call it a small town version of Cheers, as everyone seems to know everyone. My low rating is completely based on the food at Tony's. I don't like to bag on establishments, but if you're looking for a meal (and not a place to drink) avoid Tony's. The steak was half grizzle, the mushrooms were obviously canned and overcooked at that, the green beans were canned and complete mush, and the dessert was a half of a chocolate muffin with whip cream and chocolate sauce on top. After everything, I thought a nice cup of coffee would be alright. However, the half and half that I received had expired on July 21st... only about 45 days before my visit. come on... The people at Tony's are super-nice and the bar seems great. However, cooking is definitely not their thing. Stick with the liquid diet on this one. read more

After a night of Vanagon camping and fishing in Courtland on the Delta, we woke up Sunday morning looking for a new fishing spot. Heading into Isleton, it became apparent that these small Delta towns are not a great place for hungry early risers !! Around 10:45 we stumbled upon Tony's Place. The Sierra Nevada was COLD, The Bloody Mary was AWESOME !! The place has a nice small town pub/ bar décor, it was pretty cool reading all the signs and looking at the pictures while waiting for the cook to arrive. Chatting it up with the friendly bartender and locals was nice as well. They have an awesome back patio with plenty of seating and I can see that this place is the place to be in the evening !! You never really know what to expect when ordering bar food, but I must say that the Philly Cheese Steak was one of the best that I have every had !! .... YUMMY !! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, was that the cook was nearly an hour late, but the overall experience was great !! Will definitely return when heading thru the Delta again.... or maybe for a Birthday !! read more

My fiance and I stopped in here on a random day drive through the Delta. As soon as we saw the neon sign with "Tony's" blinking merrily at us, we knew we had to see what was behind those ominous doors. This place is seriously awesome for a dive-bar. Tons of vintage local business memorabilia are displayed all over the wall behind the bar, there's a great private room with a fireplace (that I wasn't allowed in due to my attempts at playing Britney on the jukebox while a local Committee meeting was being held), and the food is pretty darn tasty. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries, and he ordered the french dip. Both were made perfectly, and my cheeseburger tasted like it was fresh off a backyard BBQ. Staff was friendly and attentive, clean restrooms, and overall a pleasant experience. Prices were moderate as well. Next time we're out on the river we'll definitely have to stop by again! read more
